I bought a second hand dress online (without trying it on and without being able to return it - I know sounds crazy) and it wound up too small, where I could not zip it. I took it to her and asked if she could make it bigger (I wasn't hopeful since my alterations budget was $500 and there was so much beadwork). She said to do the hem and make it bigger and fix the beading on one of the straps it would be $450 so I said yes. Wow I am so glad I did! Thuy did a wonderful job with alterations for my wedding attire. We asked her to take in my mom's qipao, slim the sleeves on a reception jacket, hem and bustle my wedding dress, and added on a request to mend a veil (borrowed from a friend). Since I was working with her from out of town, I scheduled my appointments 3 months prior to my wedding date and ultimately met with Thuy 4 times before my wedding date. She did a beautiful job with all the garments. I requested a hidden bustle on my dress which turned out exactly as I envisioned. I was especially impressed with how Thuy used scraps of lace from other alterations to almost exactly match the lace from the veil to hide some small snags. She mended the veil overnight and it looked beautiful. Overall the total cost was less than $1k for everything mentioned above and she didn't charge extra for her work on the veil. There was a bit of a delay in the alterations, but she worked quickly to catch back up to finish before my elopement. I've found my forever tailors! I brought in a pair of jeans to be shortened, a pair of jeans to be taken in at the waist, and a pair of jersey pants to be shortened, with a very quick turnaround request. I've never seen a better job than they did on the jeans - really amazing. The jersey pants weren't quite short enough and they took them back to redo with no problem. They weren't cheap but the prices were fair and people who do quality work should be paid fairly. read more

I had a pretty good experience with Eclipse Alterations. I ended up having 3 fittings for my wedding dress alteration, and the owner made sure to book me at time where there were fewer customers so I had focused attention. They took the dress a size down, shortened the straps, added a bustle, and added snaps to the sleeves which were designed to have options for on or off the shoulder. We had a few issues with the length of the sleeves which took longer to figure out than I expected, but overall I loved the finished product! I did find one safety pin holding together a tear in the tulle at the bottom of the dress, but otherwise the alterations held up nicely. read more

Unfortunately, I had a pretty terrible experience here. Thuy seems skilled. However, one of the dresses I brought to take in the waist, she said was perfectly fit and would not adjust it. It was definitely too large in the waist & bust, and she denied my request to work on it whatsoever. I brought in another dress that same day to be taken in. She told me to come back in one week. I called on the day of to make sure it was ready, and she said yes. I come in, she tells me to come back tomorrow. I come back tomorrow, and it is STILL not ready. Finally, 2 days after she confirmed it would be ready, it was "ready". She had let it out way too much and it was way too big. So, I asked her to take it in again a tiny bit. Waited another week. The result honestly ruined the dress and I paid $65 for utter s**t. Bare threads that were not there before were visible, the seams were visible. I wish I could get a refund, she just said she wouldn't charge me next time. As if I will ever come back here! :/ read more

First and last time going to this location. I should have walked out the day I dropped my gowns off. The owner and employees were all frantically looking for another persons clothing items..literally "is this it? Is this one yours?" I dropped two gowns off mine and my daughters. For simple shoulder adjustment on hers & for my gown I asked for dress straps to be moved up as I did not like to draping shoulders and for a hook&eye to be added along with steam iron. Well seems like only the hook&eye were added to mine as straps remain draping and untouched and I have discovered some stains on back of gown. I have yet to wear this gown and it has been in the clear bag they give you your items back in. Ahh then right before charging she lost my ticket... writhing 5 minutes..lost. Very messy and unorganized in there. They rush you when trying on clothing to show what you need fixed. Definitely skipping this place next time. read more

I purchased my dress second-hand and it was a bit oversized on the top and missing a few of the pearl buttons on the back. With only a few tweaks, she made the dress fit like a glove. She even replaced and sewed in the missing buttons. Went eclipse alterations for my wedding dress that I bought from Anthropologie. Had such great service. I did not want a long train and want to be able to move freely in my dress. Was looking for a cheaper alternative to the oodles of money that bridal salons charge for wedding dress alterations. This place was mentioned a few times on Reddit, so decided to check it out. So happy I did!!! Thuy did an amazing job, works very fast, and is very kind and accommodating. I first went in 1.5 months before my wedding. I initially planned to just have my dress hemmed and bustled, which was done in 3 weeks! I decided to have my dress taken in a bit at my chest, which added another week. Towards the end, despite saying I was good with the length, I started to feel that my dress touched the ground too much (personal preference, really). I was ready to pay for another adjustment, but Thuy was completely understanding and adjusted my bustle again for free. (Sorry - really appreciate you, Thuy!) I didn't know what kind of bustle I wanted, so I went with Thuy's suggestion and am especially grateful in retrospect. My wife had her dress altered at a big bridal shop in Alameda, and paid significantly more for the same alterations. Her bustle ended up being very complicated and time-consuming, while my dress could be bustled in 1 minute. My bustle also stayed put despite doing tons of stairs, walking foresty trails, and dancing like crazy. Thuy is very professional and did an amazing job on my daughter's wedding dress. The dress was too long and the top didn't feel very secure, but we weren't sure how to fix that. After the first fitting, Thuy knew exactly how to correct the top. She would take up the shoulders and add extra hooks in the back. As for the hem, there were 3 layers to take up. She suggested having the outer layer (the tulle) just slightly longer as that would look good in pictures. When we came back 2 weeks later, the dress fit perfectly, like a custom made gown. The hem looked fantastic with the tulle just slightly longer. As for the shop, it is small, but tidy. I noticed that Thuy sprays down the counter and wipes the door knobs between customers.
