I went here to get my wedding dress altered after I had her hem a bridesmaid dress for me and the results were good! She did a great job. There was a bit of a delay in the alterations, but she worked quickly to catch back up to finish before my elopement. She took in the bust and waist, hemmed it, shortened the train and added a bustle for a reasonable price compared to other seamstresses. My dress also was mesh / sheer corset style with boning, so she had to completely take it apart to take it in! She also moved the flower appliqué up when she cut off length. I highly recommend and will continue to come here for my regular alterations.

Eclipse Alterations did beautiful work on my wedding dress. They were recommended by the Anthropology salesperson and I was worried with the complexity of fitting and shortening my dress which was made of very fragile netting material. You would never be able to tell that the dress was altered. The work was incredibly clean and the owner had many great suggestions for accommodating my vision. I felt like the pricing was fair and competitive for the area and I'm glad I trusted them with such an important day.

Eclipse Alterations has been doing alterations for 20+ years and it shows! This small shop in Piedmont is kind and welcoming. Parking can be a bit difficult in the area as it is all street parking but definitely come here for their expertise! As a plus-sized bride I never once felt weird or treated badly. I would ask for my needs and accommodations and they made it happen. They have a fast turnaround time as well and prefer cash when possible which will help you too! Truly a pleasure to work with and love love love how my dress turned out and fit me, especially with adding in the sleeves.

I had a pretty good experience with Eclipse Alterations. I ended up having 3 fittings for my wedding dress alteration, and the owner made sure to book me at time where there were fewer customers so I had focused attention. They took the dress a size down, shortened the straps, added a bustle, and added snaps to the sleeves which were designed to have options for on or off the shoulder. We had a few issues with the length of the sleeves which took longer to figure out than I expected, but overall I loved the finished product! I did find one safety pin holding together a tear in the tulle at the bottom of the dress, but otherwise the alterations held up nicely.

Can't see very well but loose threads

Unfortunately, I had a pretty terrible experience here. Thuy seems skilled. However, one of the dresses I brought to take in the waist, she said was perfectly fit and would not adjust it. It was definitely too large in the waist & bust, and she denied my request to work on it whatsoever. I brought in another dress that same day to be taken in. She told me to come back in one week. I called on the day of to make sure it was ready, and she said yes. I come in, she tells me to come back tomorrow. I come back tomorrow, and it is STILL not ready. Finally, 2 days after she confirmed it would be ready, it was "ready". She had let it out way too much and it was way too big. So, I asked her to take it in again a tiny bit. Waited another week. The result honestly ruined the dress and I paid $65 for utter s**t. Bare threads that were not there before were visible, the seams were visible. I wish I could get a refund, she just said she wouldn't charge me next time. As if I will ever come back here! :/

Thuy did an amazing job altering my wedding dress and I received many compliments. I purchased my dress second-hand and it was a bit oversized on the top and missing a few of the pearl buttons on the back. With only a few tweaks, she made the dress fit like a glove. She even replaced and sewed in the missing buttons. Also, she added bustles, taking care to add them onto the embroidered flowers on my dress so they would blend in, and showing me where they were and how to snap them. Everything was sewed so securely and professionally. Her prices are reasonable too - pay cash if you can!

Sure, here's a revised version of your review: "Thuy is a true magician! She transformed my wedding dress from something I was uncertain about into my dream dress. The dress originally had sleeves and a completely different neckline, and it needed to be taken in several inches. Thuy was incredibly patient and kind throughout the entire process, even with a tight five-week turnaround. I'm so grateful to have found her! While I was quoted $1,800 at a bridal alterations shop in Alameda, Thuy at Eclipse Alterations charged $1,000 after making numerous changes--originally estimated at $600. The final cost felt more than fair for the quality of work she provided."

I cannot recommend Thuy highly enough! She worked on three of my wedding dresses and did the most incredible job -- all in under a month. Not only was her craftsmanship flawless, but her level of care and attentiveness went above and beyond what I ever expected. She took the time to make sure every detail was perfect and even showed my mom how to zip and lace up my dresses so everything went smoothly on the big day. Her professionalism, speed, and warm personality made the entire experience such a joy. If you're looking for someone who truly cares and delivers exceptional results, look no further -- she is an absolute gem!

I had my wedding dress altered at Eclipse Alterations and it was such an easy process. They were professional and had great expertise on options and what's available. I had my dress hemmed (5 layers!), cinched in at the chest and waist area, added off the shoulder pieces and a three point bustle. These are a lot of alterations for a little over $1k at the time. Everything was done well and easy for my bridesmaid (the bustle) to follow. I would highly recommend this place and I gave myself plenty of time for them to complete their work. Great experience!

Hi Thuy, I have a wedding in February 2023. Are you able to work on my wedding dress? It needs minor alterations. Thank you!

I went by Eclipse yesterday and they are no longer there. storefront was completely empty. Does anyone know if the business moved or have they just closed completely? I have been going there for years, so was surprised.

Unfortunately, my…read moreexperience was not positive so that was when I started looking into the 1 and 2 star reviews on Yelp and Google. They're all saying the same thing about Maria being disorganized and unreliable, which was exactly my experience. And based on reading the negative feedback, I noticed this lady tends to deflect blame. Never her fault. Always something else. I brought in two pairs of jeans for hemming and a wool coat that needed a lining added. Price was affordable. She gave me a week timeline to pick up. I originally planned to pick everything up on Saturday, but I called the next day (Sunday) and asked if I could pick up a day early on Friday instead. She said yes. Thursday came and I called them just to remind them as I've had experiences elsewhere in the past where things got forgotten and I didn't want to make a 25 min drive and finding out my stuff isn't ready. Lo and behold, when I called to remind her I'll be picking up the following day, she said Saturday so I reminded her I called her last Sunday to change to friday. She said okay, she's not busy so she can work on it. I showed up Friday at around 11. My stuff wasn't done. Her employees were working on it. At first she mentioned pick up was supposed to be Saturday. I repeated I've made phone calls prior to change to Friday and she said yes. Then she said I came too early. Say what? We never confirmed on a pickup time. Then she asked me to wait additional 40 minutes. And she argued with me, giving me an attitude. I let her know she was unprofessional and disorganized and this was before I read all the negative reviews. It frustrated me because she had the whole week to work on them and she didn't. Will not be taking my business here again. I do not recommend her business.

Gave her the brand, size, etc. she quoted us $160. Steep, but reasonable given the quality of the dress. She took measurements. After the fitting, she told us the cost would be $400. $400 to tailor a dress?!? That's more than most dresses cost. Why? She said, "wedding dresses cost more." We explained that it wasn't a wedding dress (I'm already married!). But she wouldn't change the price. It felt strange and uncomfortable and kind of awful to be called a liar. Walked out and found another tailor who did an epic job for $120. Went to the party (NOT A WEDDING) and felt fabulous. Skip this place. p.s. Apparently this owner gaslights customers. To clarify: 1. I definitely called in advance, 2. I was definitely overcharged, 3. It was definitely Lily from Irena's studio. Not confused, and not a mistake. Avoid avoid avoid.

I spent the evening researching places where I could get my costume altered the next day, the day before Halloween, and decided on Piedmont Alterations. I lived nearby, so I took the 20 minutes walk down to explore Piedmont Ave and to hop down to Piedmont Alterations. It's a teeny little shop that I nearly missed... I'd thought it was a support for the much larger building behind/above it! Turns out that it's Ashley's store, and she does all her magic in this little space! I don't know how she does it, but she does. In the shop, she has made room for a rack of clothing she's working on, her counter and sewing machine/tools, and a privacy curtain for customers to check out her work. I popped in and was introduced to the owner herself. Ashley was busy with other a few other customers' projects, and furthermore she would have to leave a little bit early that day to attend a Halloween party... but she had me try on the costume, put a few pins in it to mark the adjustments she would be making, and then told me that she would be able to do it! I would be able to pick it up within 1-2 hours. It was a very reasonable price for a rush job: I believe $30 or somewhere in that range? The costume ended having no problems at all. I'm very glad I went to Ashley. If I hadn't, I would've worn a pretty baggy costume around! I'm amazed that Ashley was able to take the rush job on the day of and deliver so wonderfully. I would recommend anyone who needs alteration work done to go to Ashley. She is such a wonderful and pleasant woman as well. She has been in the area for years and years, and I imagine that she is humble and hard-working as ever. I believe from past reviews that her work has been unwaveringly excellent, and she is no-nonsense when it comes to doing the best work she possibly can and delivering quickly. If you visit Ashley, do give her my compliments, and the compliments of everyone else that is in her Yelp reviews!
