Decided to try out something different than the usual New Haven and Neo Style Brick oven joints. Not saying this is better than our traditional CT Pizza Kings, but man I was surprised, this place is definitly not run of the mill. Lol. I have to give them 5 stars, this is F*ing good!! This place is definitly not getting the credit they deserve. Crust was nice and crisp and still soft, stiff enough to hold all of it's toppings without falling over, picked it up and NO CARNAGE at all. I am big fan of Pizzas and glad there are plenty of amazing spots to try! We ordered Vito's pizza for our office party. They have mix and match of Veg/Non-veg options. Our choices were Large Chicken and Veg Pizza - hand tossed fluffy crust! We also ordered chicken and veg pasta along with some bread on the side. These orders were for to-go ! Chicken pizza - So fresh, fluffy and delicious when served with red pepper and ketchup! I am already missing it as I write this review. Veggie pizza - Same as above -with fresh veggie toppings of your choice. Pizza is great if it is fluffy and delicious after all. Pasta - had a unique spicy flavor to it. Perfect blend of sauces with some chicken. Amazing! I would love to visit Vito's and dine in to have a thorough experience of what the place is like. But overall, I was satisfied by the food! The go to place for Chicago deep dish pizza. The stuff is thick, stuffed with meatballs and sausage, browned cheese, and fat slabs of bacon draped over the top. Two pieces and I'm pretty much done. I am in town on business and felt like ordering in tonight. After looking through menus, the calzones here caught my interest and I ordered via uber eats. Along with a meatball, sausage and fresh basil calzone I ordered fried mozzarella, which was really good, but we're pretty large chunks of cheese. When I opened the box that was supposed to be my calzone I found a pizza instead. Disappointing considering I was really looking forward to the calzone. The quality of the individual toppings was good, but the pizza overall was greasy, the cheese came off as soon as I picked up the slice, and the plastic cup jammed in the middle made a very unappealing circle of greasy pizza in the middle. Came in search of authentic Chicago deep dish. As a Chicago expat my wife and I had a craving that needed to be fixed. Vito's provided a very good pie, although authenticity left much to be desired. The crust was more buttery than most, but still lacked the cornmeal, cracker like consistency of a traditional Chicago deep dish. Sauce was buried underneath the cheese, and while it had good flavor, it was too smooth and needed more tomato chunks. The quality of the toppings were good and the meatballs were especially delicious. $26 for a large and we ended up taking home 1/2 the pizza, it's as close as you're going to come to chi-town in these parts, but if you're looking for authentic, keep looking. read more

We ordered our food to dine in, but half way through our meal the blond waitress came and asked us to stop eating so we could pay the bill. See, her shift was ending and she wanted her tip before she left. Not sure what she needed so badly that our 2 dollars was so important, but after she left, the new waitress completely ignored us. This place is full of attitudes! As a grubhub driver I will never pick up from this place again, nor will I eat here! I was told my order would be ready by 7, no problem I'll wait. 7:10 came around and I went to the front to ask the status of the order and was rudely told I needed to wait because they're very busy, while she walked away talking to another waitress about me asking for the status under her breath! We ordered off the catering menu for our daughter's baptism. The food was amazing and the portions were so generous! We ordered the full size platters of sausage/peppers, baked ziti, salad, and rolls for 25 people and we had more than enough for the event plus enough to give away to guests. Everyone loved it. Was in the area on business and just had time for a quick bite for lunch. Found this place on Yelp. Intimate Italian restaurant with the kindest of staff. The waitress was super friendly and efficient. I ordered a slice of pepperoni pizza; this piece was huge and I would consider it two normal size slices of pizza. It was loaded with cheese and pepperoni. It had a thicker crust than my normal preference but all in all a good pizza especially with all the cheese. read more

The only deep-dish meat pizza in central Connecticut. Having lived in the mid-west for a while, Chicago deep-dish was always an option, and although the surrounding area in Connecticut has some of the best NY style around, the hankering for a meat cheese pie rears it's carbohydrate heavy head. Vito's delivered, not exactly corn-meal crust Chicago style, but close enough to satisfy. In addition, we heard their grinders were good, particularly the meat grinder. This was pretty spot on, good sliced steak, good ingredients, crunchy bread. Ordered chicken artichoke dinner. The pasta was dry, tasteless, sticky with very little sauce. The rolls were cold, hard and also tasteless. Garlic bread was stuffed into a container and all clumped together. The dish came with one piece of chicken and 2 artichokes!!! When I called to ask what went wrong with my order, I was greeted by a very snotty and rude woman. I can really get over the way the food was prepared and served, sometimes you just have a bad night but when you have someone representing your establishment who should not be dealing with the public is another thing. We have been looking for a place in CT that serves traditional Chicago style pizza. It seems like Vito's is as close as it gets (other than Uno's). While it's not traditional, it's still a stuffed deep dish masterpiece. We ordered the meat stuffed pizza and it definitely fulfilled our craving. It tasted just as good as it looks. I recently went to Vito's to try something different on the Silas. It was a rainy Saturday afternoon and the place had a decent crowd. We were seated in the general dining area and were given time to look over the menu. I had decided upon penne ala vodka with grilled chicken. The waitress brought out a bread basket with warm rolls and focaccia. The rolls were excellent and addicting. Not too much time went by before our huge dinners were served. I was only able to eat about a third of my meal and needed to take the rest home with me. The vodka sauce was one of the best that I've ever tasted. My friend ordered a side of meatballs with his entree and they were the size of baseballs and just about as heavy. They were very dense. I would assume that they used the beef, pork, veal recipe when making them. They were excellent. All in all I was very impressed with Vito's. I did see some of the deep dish pizza's being delivered to their tables while we were eating which made me curious. I would definitely go back to try one of those. read more

OMG Seriously? How has everyone else been giving this 3-4 stars? You guys must not be in the market for getting delicious stuff, just the Plain Jane. First off, if you get NOTHING else from this review, it is that you have to get the Chicago-style deep dish. Holy God. That was amazing. I ordered a large with my girlfriend, and it was the most immaculate and delicious pie I've ever consumed: desserts included. Between the two of us we only took down about 1/4 of the pizza. Seriously, one piece of this put my girlfriend out for the count. The sausage chunks in it were pretty much sliced up sausage links you would get from the butcher. The crust had a delicious buttery flavor to it.... and to really add to this, they covered the thing in cheese and BACON. The rest of the meal wasn't exactly spectacular, probably 3.5-4 stars. I got the special salad that was some kind of strawberry vinaigrette, walnuts, Gorgonzola, and greens. Like I said, nothing special.... but appeasing. The dessert was alright as well. My girlfriend had a cannoli. I have to say it was delicious... It had a great sort of Amaretto hint to it that really livened it up. I got a red velvet cheesecake, which wasn't quite as good as the cannoli (good thing she's not going to read this). There was a private party in the bar, so we were seated in the restaurant. I would have rather been in the bar, because it seemed like a pretty good time. There wasn't anything super special about it, but the atmosphere seemed pretty lively. Maybe it was the patrons involved? I don't know about that, but the martinis were pretty "ballin'" as the kids say these days. We had a hazelnut martini that was nothing short of a delicious boozefest. I'm going to make an effort to go here any time I have a craving for deep-dish pizza. Me and the family had this place once and it was enough we all got sick from the pizza they have no right to claim to make Chicago Style stuffed crust if they cant even get it right the sausage I had in it was raw and looked like it was ripped off in chunks off the link with the casing still on we will and never eat their pizza agaon. The inside of Vito's is a lot more appealing then the outside.. We got the calamari as an appetizer which had great flavor and was not greasy. The Cesar salad was pretty good too. We got pepperoni and hamburger on a small pizza and it was just enough for 2 with leftovers! The pizza was great and had a crunchy crust. The food came out quickly and the waitress was really sweet. It was ok. Spent $30 on bagged salad w/ 1 piece of cucumber and Ken's bagged dressing, warm mozzarella sticks, and pizza that had dry sausage and bitter spinach. Kind of disappointing... The marinara sauce for the mozzarellas sticks was watery and I didn't love the flavor. The rolls were yummy and I did like the dough of the pizza. We generally order pizza for take out, because the service eating in is notoriously bad and really annoying (see other reviews). If you're not a regular, you're generally ignored by staff who are busy reading or talking to the regulars or to each other. Nothing new, definitely not addressed as promised in several replies. Decor is quite dated, but not really offensive. Food: Pizza is quite good. My husband and I and another couple ended up walking in and sitting at the bar for drinks and dinner on Valentine's Day. Both the restaurant and bar were busy but there was enough seating for the four of us. And while cozy it was not too crowded. Our bartender/server we later learned is one of the owners. And she took amazing care of us. I couldn't say if the food or the service was better. Just a wonderful dining experience and unexpected on a holiday to receive such attention. I used to eat at Vitos for the pizza only. I find it tastes MUCH better if u eat it there, when piping hot. Otherwise, the crust on the way home loses it's slight crispiness. Pizza is good no matter what, but if I had to take it home with me, i think I'd opt for a different restaurant altogether. Also, I've never had particularly great service at this location. I was disappointed in the food. I asked for a deep dish pepperoni pizza and was told I only can get the meat lovers pizza with bacon, sausage, meatball and pepperoni. UNO's would have made it and they are a chain. Vito's unwillingness to make the pizza the way I wanted told me these were probably frozen and were thawed in the oven when ordered. They also didn't have the wine my wife wanted. To add on top of that it's way overpriced. Go to UNO's if you want a deep dish pizza, better quality, cheaper price, and made to order. read more
