First time visiting here. We had an awesome meal!!!! Service was fantastic, attentive and friendly. It felt like we were family. Lisa made us feel like we were at her house. Food was fantastic. This time we had pizza. We tried both the deep dish and the thin crust. Both were awesome!!! Coffee and dessert were also great (made in house) and tasted so fresh and homemade!!! If you drive past Vito's Restaurant & Pizzeria and assume it's just another pizza and pasta place, it's not. The real reason to go there is Jon. Chef, owner, bartender, therapist apparently. If you tell him how your day went, he will make you a cocktail based on your current psychological condition. He made me one tonight and it was exactly the right thing for the night. Small personal detail that made me like the place even more: he moved back to Connecticut from Boston after his mom got sick and took over the restaurant. Also, they used to have this salad with hot cherry peppers and anchovies that is not on the menu anymore, but you can still ask for it. It is salty, tart, fishy, aggressive, and slightly unhinged. Basically everything you could want. The pizza is great, the stuffed Chicago-style stuff is genuinely good, but honestly I would go back just to sit there and let Jon interpret my emotional state through alcohol again. read more

Upon arriving to the plaza, which Vito's pizzeria sits in, I thought this was just gonna be another pizza joint. Boy was I wrong! In the entryway was a handwritten chalkboard with specials on it, and I knew this was the real deal Italian restaurant. Not fancy by any means, and there was a mixture of booths and tables, and some booths with tables, go figure! But man, oh man, the menu, the service. Just the vibe felt like I was back just outside of Chicago in one of the first real Italian restaurants I've ever went to. My friend and I were seated by the grandson of the owner. And the waitress came over and greeted us so warmly. I almost wanted to take her home with me lol I started off with a bottle of Yuengling beer. It just hit the spot. But on the blackboard, I saw Pork stew. This is an Italian staple, so I just had to try it. Freaking amazing!!! I had a cup of it and I could've made a meal out of this stew. Served with the soup were small dinner rolls that just came out out of the oven, not microwaved, and I think frittata. This was garlic and salty and all deliciousness. So my friend and I ordered a large pizza with hamburger sausage and pepperoni on it. This definitely was not a Greek style thick pizza nor was it thin, thin, thin, Italian a beetz. This was more of a medium crust with homemade sauce fresh mozzarella, and the toppings were very generous. But let me tell you about the crust. This pizza crust was buttery yet crunchy. This crust was probably one of the best pizza crusts I've ever had. I knew this pizza dough was fresh probably made this morning. After all of this deliciousness and feeling at home and getting full... I remember what I saw on the chalkboard.... An amazing dessert, menu, consisting of tiramisu, lemon ricotta cake, and some other Italian delicacies. I ordered a lemon ricotta slice of cake that was homemade by the grandma of this restaurant which was out of this world. I love bakery stuff and I love Mozzacato bakery, but this slice of heaven was so tasty. I needed to give a hug somewhere, but I refrained. This restaurant is true Italian. The menu is small, but so full of Italian dishes, and boy I wanna come back here so bad, really quick. Parking was a breeze, I actually parked right in front of the place, and the restrooms were clean. The place was steady with business, but the takeout looked extremely busy. I tipped the server 30% on a $50 bill due to her to her kind and caring service. This was the deal of deals that I haven't seen in a long time. Wethersfield is known for Italians families. Tough to give 3 stars but the service was too disjointed- no menus, food with no silverware, couldn't explain the difference in the two red sauces offered with the pasta. Always enjoy the hit eggplant salad but the bread was rushed from the oven and the cheese wasn't browned at all. Three of us visited Vito's on a Sunday night. There was no line but we had to wait a little to long to be seated even thought there were open tables. I'm guessing because it was busy. There was a bar room and a dinning area that was divided. Our waiter was most polite and brought us multiple baskets of seasoned bread. We ordered a thick crust pizza & chicken parm to share, both were delicious. The thick crust was good enough for me to go back again. When we were done and wanted to order desert to take home... there was another extended wait. There was another server and a manager helping out. I'm not sure if our server had over areas to cover but even though we were taken care of completely, the gaps of service were too long. Cold air was blowing in from I'm guessing outside, even though they had two doors to pass through. Some people had their coats and hats on. Everything you could touch while eating was clean - but the decor (to my assessment) hadn't been touched in a while. As we were leaving there were more cars looking for our parking spot as this is a popular restaurant with good food. They just have a couple hurdles to clear to improve. Three things would be put heat in the vestibule, give the place a top down cleaning and give more training to the service. read more

Came here last night with my best friend. We sat in the bar area and were met with the sweetest server. I'm sad I didn't get her name. I ordered a dirty martini which was good. The bread rolls and garlic bread served were delicious and fresh. I had the salmon on top of the spicy cherry pepper anchovy salad. They were out of anchovy so hooked me up with extra fish. The salad and dressing were great, crisp and very flavorful. The value was amazing. My best friend got the penne aka vodka. Every time we go to an Italian restaurant, she orders penne a la vodka so when she says it was so good, I believe her. We will definitely be back. Especially since Vito's is so close to my house. Had out of town guests that wanted good Italian so we went to Vito's. Unfortunately one of the meals was not quite what we expected but the staff could not have been more accommodating in fixing the problem. Everyone was so considerate and helpful - and the complimentary tiramisu was the best we've ever tasted! Would highly recommend Vito's and we'll be back again soon. read more

Food here is excellent the mozzarella sticks I had were very good and loved how they were homemade. The truffle fries were a special for tonight and I finished them easily. The grated cheese pizza I got was fantastic cheese sauce all of it was much better than I anticipated. Our waitress was really nice and the busser that was going around was really nice and very attentive to everything. Definitely recommend coming here. Had a relaxing dinner here with my wife and brother on a slower paced Thursday evening than usual. Had the housemade mozzarella sticks, which were delicious and will stand out in my mind above any other restaurants mozzarella sticks. Reminds me of my italian grandmother- in laws when she prepares them before family holidays. I ordered the Cosmo italiano that had that nice pucker from the lemonciello (I always love trying different martinis with that italian favorite). The service was polite, consistent & friendly! There was quite a few new trainees in the building who were also great even though they were new to the job. Ordered the clams casino pizza which took the prize. A phenomenal pizza to too off the meal and leave my belly fully, happy and fulfilled for our drive home. Highly reccomend and hope to be back again soon read more

It's been several years since I went to Vito's, my friend used to live right next door, so I was always here in my pre-Yelp days. Tonight I really wanted their garlic mozzarella bread so the husband dutifully went with me and it was just like I remembered. You walk in and they had a keyboard player playing some Billy Joel and smooth jazz, which was a nice touch. We were seated within a minute and I had a banana split martini. Excellent price, excellent martini, the only thing missing was some whipped cream and a maraschino cherry. Fantabulous. I don't care what you go here for, you absolutely must get their cheesy garlic bread, it's to die for. The salads they bring out are very fresh with a nice distribution of olives and tomatoes, and I ate both mine and my husband's. The food. Ohhhhhhh the food. I had the chicken Francaise and omg I will never order it from anywhere else again. The lemon reduction was superb, and you know it's made with real lemons because I found one seed but it didn't matter and I didn't care because it was phenomenal. Plus I mean really, there will be runaway seeds from time to time. I am stuffed and I even have leftovers. Best little hole in the wall Italian joint around. LOVE Vito's Pizza! Has always been a local favorite of mine. I'd rather drive here for takeout than some of the pizza places in Rocky Hill. This place definitely doesn't get enough credit! The interior could use some work, buy I rarely dine-in. Ordering their pizza takeout is the way to go! Their Ricotta Pie is AMAZING. A white pie with no sauce; just crispy crust, mozz and perfectly seasoned ricotta. They even give you marinara on the side! My other favorite is their spinach & sausage pie. Pizza is good. BUT: they'll scam you on the bill. Ordered two pizzas for takeout. The online menu prices indicated a total of $33.50. Picked up and they insisted on $42.00. When challenged, the cashier argued I was reading the wrong menu. I was not. The prices I ordered from were still on line. Cashier's response was so robotic you could tell it happens a lot and the owner scripted what to say. They get you for another 25%. Rip off artists. read more

One of my "go to" dishes is Mussels Marinara. I order it a lot. Tonight, I am looking you straight in the eye, and telling you I just had the best Mussels Marinara I've ever had. Sautéed in wine garlic, basil and marinara sauce, it cost $9.95. It was more like a soup than a wine sauce. Many times, the broth is thin and watery and adds nothing to the dish. But this broth was fabulous, even more so because I was given the option to have it spicy, and it came out a Perfect 10. Loaded with onions and hot peppers and diced tomatoes and garlic. And the mussels? Fresh as can be. Huge and plump. Just excellent. Oh, and I almost forgot to rave about the bread bowl - excellent focaccia loaded with oniony and garlicky goodness, and knotted garlic rolls. The baked ziti was also top notch - a nice blend of cheese and sauce and perfect pasta. Service was very good - polite and attentive without being intrusive, We could not have been happier with the way our lunch went. We will be back for sure. read more

Ordered a sausage calzone pizza and garlic bread for takeout. They seemed confuse when I went to pick it up and only brought out the pizza. I had to tell them what I ordered. After getting home and halfway through the calzone couldn't find any sausage. I finally found a few tiny pieces of sausage in the other half. Not happy with them. I really enjoy the food at this restaurant. We have gotten take out from here a few times. Pizza is delicious, crust not too hard but a lot of cheese. Little bit too much sometimes. I haven't been here in almost a DECADE. I came in with low expectations and always wondered how have they been in buisness so long? Well I learned my lesson. They showed me what's good. First off let me just say their staff is super friendly and attentive! I was really happy with the staff here at Vito's. Also, this place was actually super busy when I came in and it's a little bigger in the inside than I expected! We were seated in the main dining room and was given some menus that certainly need updating. The interior was nice but needs a little updating. Anyways, I ordered Eggplant Fries and a Large Chicken and Ranch Pizza. So about the Eggplant Fries, I got them and said "hmmmm this isn't $11.95 worth of eggplant so maybe they taste really good" Then I tasted them and said "this is quite good, I'll let it pass" Now just as we finished the eggplant another server came and delivered us more fries! Apparently they had a quick shortage of the Eggplant Fries so they gave us some to hold us off and made the rest. They were hand cut which was delightful! Different shapes and sizes, I liked it. So though it was a minor mistake I'll let it pass as they just wanted to make sure I got my FULL order. They easily could have got away with giving me the first plate and charging me full price but they hooked us up which was very honest and I liked it very much. Well done. As for the Chicken and Ranch Pizza, it was beautiful. The textures were great! Chicken was good, sauce was good, had nice slices of tomato and even bacon! Crust was nice too. My only concern for the pizza was it looks pretty small for a "large" pizza. But I can't talk because it was super filling and we couldn't finish it even though it was delicious. Well after years of ignoring Vito's, they certainly have my buisness for the future. Definitely a solid competitor for pizza and Italian food here in Wethersfield. I still have yet to try an entrée that isn't pizza. But yeah! Food was great and staff was super friendly! Not much to complain about except for what I brought up in my review. I'm from Chicago, and am a deep dish snob. Vito's is on the top of my list. Really liked the thin crust.

I arrived at BDL at 2 am because of flight delays. Caught 3 hours sleep. Got up at 5 and went to work. Stopped here for dinner after a very long day. I was seated immediately. My waitress was friendly. My food - once I finally decided - was served quickly. Ultimately went for chicken parm but the lobster ravioli sounded very enticing. The bread was delicious and warm. My salad was basic but good. The moscato made my meal. Yes, I know it's a dessert wine. It's what I needed. Left in a very different frame of mind than I had entered. read more

This place catered a business lunch (pizza, apps), and the pies were delicious. Fresh, good flavor - and kept it hot. So I was bitten by the bug. I don't know whether it's just the name or if they're actually connected with the other Vito's restaurants. I had high expectations. The place is a serviceable Italian-American Restaurant with all the trappings. The evening we went to try dine-in, the restaurant wasn't busy but the people there were eating well and drinking. That encouraged us. Our waitress was a dear - not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but genuinely pleasant and helpful. We had a plain and the deep-dish "Meat Lovers." And I ordered a salad. The salad was wilted and the dressing might as well have been something from a cheap grocery store's shelves. I took three bites and then left it. The waitress never asked about it - hey if she doesn't care, I don't care. Wine and beer was - wine and beer. Wine was inexpensive and tasted every bit of it. We ate the plain - a good pie with flavorful sauce and plenty of cheese. The crust could've been more glutinous and chewy. This crust was loose, dry and lacking olive oil. The "Meat Lovers" was a salty, overloaded, damp ordeal that we had packed up to go - there is a guy who works on our house whom we knew would enjoy it - and he did! We thought of him because he brings stuff for lunch that's so meat-intensive (grinders, pizza) we knew he'd be happy. The waitress never asked if anything was wrong. We were generally so disappointed with the food and this worn-out restaurant (dudes, clean the grout and the corners in the restroom) that we just wanted to leave. To add insult to injury, the waitress sighed loudly and ran into the kitchen for the to-go box for the uneaten pizza. On the way out of the kitchen she was asked by a woman what the box was for. We heard her clearly say that it was "for the asshole on table [whatever]." EDIT: we're not certain whether it was our waitress, or the dour manager who lurked about the place. We didn't say a word. We paid, tipped and got out. As fast as we could. Your mileage may vary - and also we usually don't Yelp until we've visited a place twice. But no. There's no passion here. It's too bad. First no ice tea they didn't want to brew another batch according to the waitress then there is no lemonade and finally no chocolate milk. Now mind you we are not coming in at like 8pm it's five. Ask for rolls or o should say we're offered rolls that never came, asked 3 times to finally bring told they are out of rolls too. Then they being the food and we had to ask 3 times for utensils. Great pizza! Excellent Italian dishes! Great service. One of the last standing true Italian restaurants in Wethersfield. Only lost a star because of the prices are a bit high for the pizza. The pasta/dinners are totally worth the pricing though! So much fooood! All together a great restaurant! read more
