Pietro's pizza is a busy place located on Main Street in downtown Hartford. I've only tried their pizza and garlic knots (both quite good) but their menu is HUGE. They have calzones, pasta dinners, sandwiches, omelets, 11 appetizers, salads, done-up fries, stuffed breads, burgers and grinders. There is a steady stream of people heading in there to order lunch (mostly take out, there's maybe 8 tables) as well as a big catering operation rolling out of the kitchen door. The staff is friendly and the only issue I've had was I recently got some slices (ordered in person) and they forgot about me. When I piped up, I got my slices in short order and was back to my office. Give 'em a shot, I guarantee they have something on that huge menu that you'll dig. read more

Came here to pick up some pizza with my family. We all ordered slices. Can I tell you they are huge! We also got garlic knots and they were huge too. Pizza here tasted good! I got 3 different slices. The veggie special , regular cheese and chicken bacon ranch. None of them disappointed me. I would get pizza here again. They have a Thinner New Haven style pizza and I am a huge fan of that. Honestly, I'm not mad about it. I wanted a late night snack and there wasn't much else open in this part of downtown Hartford. Pietro's Pizza came in clutch! Not sure why everyone is hating but the NY style pizza slices were pretty large and you can even see how I split my pizza into two so I even got my monies worth. A bit greasy but that comes with the territory and nothing that some napkins won't fix to dap the extra oil. It was yummy and I finished it in my hotel room afterward. It's pizza. Come on peeps. Stopped by Pietro's for a quick to-go order while walking through downtown Hartford. One of my favorite pizza places in hartford. The pizza always feels like it has a little extra spice and love. And I love their penne alla vodka -- the garlic knots are amazing. Thank god it only comes with two! My only issues ever have been when I place a delivery order for a certain time, they always ignore the time and just start making it/deliver it. I've not been home yet before when they call me to say they're there more than an hour before I ordered it for. Would be nice if they paid closer attention, but I get its busy! read more

I ordered a large VEGGIE MAMA pizza. All that was MISSING was the VEGGIES! I don't understand how its called veggie mama, and the veggies are MIA, MISSING IN ACTION. Once upon a time the entire pizza was covered in veggies, broccoli(BIG PIECES), mushrooms olive, spinach, onions and peppers. NOW, your lucky if you get broccoli on it, AND NOT VEGGIE PIZZA w/just ONIONS AND PEPPERS. I should've posted a pic, but I forgot. Anyhoo, i will order again and hopefully it will be better! Got some pretty decent pizza from here last night. My husband had the pepperoni pie and I had the chicken Alfredo. I liked the Alfredo pizza, but it could have used a bit more cheese. The garlic knots sadly were not good. A bit over cooked and lacking flavor, they definitely needed less time in the oven and garlic. read more

I was staying in the Residence Inn next door and they recommended the pizza place next door. I figured it would probably be average, an assumption accentuated by the counter service aspect, but I was surprised. Rather simple, but a variety of slices and pies, including styles not normally as popular in a small pizzeria near NYC. The place is really small. I would guess the majority of their patrons don't eat in house. There are only a handful of tables. Not an issue, as there was room. The counter person brought the food out when it was ready and I started chowing down. The food? I tried the Chicago Style. A bit different than I remember Chicago style, but very tasty. Pizza is good customer service is not. I ordered 2 pizzas and garlic bread online, they show up with one pizza and the garlic bread with a receipt for $33 when I paid $68. The lady on the phone when we first called was hostile and instisted that they don't do online orders through yelp...yet yall are on here. She kept saying that we were in the wrong when I have my bank statement and my order details in front of me. She puts us on hold to find our order finds it then says she'll deliver the pizza. The pizza took 1 hour to get here. We called after 45 mins she said the pizza was on the way. Mind you this place is like 5 mins from me. read more

There should be an option for a 0/0. Ive been coming here since I moved to the city, the man that works in the front is extremely rude. When I go I ask for my pizza to be cooked longer.. I'm willing to wait. I went in there and ordered and was waiting for 20 minutes... when I walked up to the counter to see about my food they handed me a box when I checked my pizza it was soggy. I walked to the counter and told him what I ordered.. said my food was fine. i had to lift it up and show him it was soggy. i was gonna wait for the food to fixed but this isn't the first time this happened with these guys. I asked him for my refund and he made a big deal about it and then said he didn't wanna see me back there. what is wrong with getting the food made how I requested it? read more

This is such an amazing place. Had great pizzas, especially for a vegetarian person. Courteous staff, takes about 25 minutes for your pizza to be made. You can also them to customize this pizza, like I asked for their ala vodka pizza without meat /fish and they created an awesome pizza just for me. Must visit if you are a veg in Hartford read more

Giant slice alert! Pietro's has a vast selection of very large NY style slices. One slice is never enough and two slices is almost too much but that all depends on how you want to live your life. The service is fast and they always heat up your slices with the options of dine in or take out (which they put in a small box for you). The inside is small but there is always a place to sit. read more

This pizza is so good. You can buy a whole pizza or just by the slice in store. I ordered a pizza for pick-up and it was ready within the window I was quoted. The staff was kind and gave me an accurate wait time for my pizza to finish cooking. I had to hold back from devouring more than I should. Highly recommend! read more

I was eating at Pietros Pizzeria, they are very attentive when taking orders as I could not eat what I wanted at first. I want to talk about the hygiene they have with the products, I touched a bottle of Coca-Cola but I changed my mind and took another one because I thought the first one was not very cold. When I put the bottle back an employee of the pizzeria came out to clean the bottle I had touched earlier. Kudos for being so careful and so discreet, I didn't see when he wiped the bottle with a brown napkin and I didn't see when that same employee was talking about what happened with another employee. I thought it was a radioactive contamination event. I hope they raise the pay for the employees of that business. I hope they never forget the password to enter the restroom because the customers of that business do not have the right to use it. I go there strictly for their salads. They are a bit pricey, but definitely worth the money. They are huge. My favorite is the Cajun chicken salad, the chicken is seasoned well and crispy. It comes with two garlic knots, absolutely delish. The cashier is always kind and welcoming. read more

This is the third time I have ordered from Pietro's. Tonight I ordered a spinach, tomato and ricotta pizza. The crust was perfectly brown and the toppings were amazingly brick oven melted and tasteful. My mother is from Naples and father is from Sicily. I know Italian food. The sauce is not to sweet and not too salty--a perfect balance of salt, tomatoes, olive oil and a hint of garlic. On top of all of this, this is the third delivery driver I have dealt with their delivery drivers. These 3 gentleman have all been so respectful, humble and happy upon delivery. I highly recommend his business to anyone for a great pie. Additionally, while admittedly, I have not tried other dishes, their menu is extensive and I can only believe that their other selections are as good as their pies. read more

Honestly, I wish that I could give this place a 2.5 rating. Pietro's is good because it's open late and the guys behind the counter were kind of entertaining. However, the food was quite a struggle. I called to place a pick up 40 minutes before I got there , just to arrive and my order wasn't even put in, the young lady who answered didn't ask me for a name or number she told me the price and hung up. It was really inconvenient having to wait when the point of calling ahead is for your food to be ready when you get there! read more

I got the pasta à la vodka with chicken, and my girlfriend got the pesto gnocchi chicken dish. Everything came fast, warm, and fresh- cooked to perfection. We also got the cheese garlic bread as a starter, which was delicious and the perfect size as to not spoil your dinner. Finally, we split an order of the chocolate lava cake which was one of the tastiest desserts I'd ever had. Now, onto the even more impressive details. First things first, calling in, and then changing the time for our reservation was very easy, and the man who picked up the phone seemed very excited to have us coming in to the restaurant. Upon arrival, it was clear the host (Jimmy) was the same person on the phone, as he remembered my name and was immediately incredibly hospitable and friendly. Jimmy asked me and my girlfriend how long we'd been together, and we told him "2 years today!" This at first seemed like typical small talk on the way to the table (which I should mention was arguably the best seat in the house, a table right by the front window in a nice quiet area of the restaurant), but I was quite impressed when the first thing our server, Vincent, said to us a few minutes later was "Happy anniversary." Vincent was very helpful and made sure to circle by our table frequently enough to make sure we had everything we needed, but not to the point where it was unnecessary- perfect!! As you can see in the attached image, our lava cake came with a nice happy anniversary message, and I'd like to remind you that this was all just from us mentioning it to Jimmy, once on our way in. We were treated to some goodies to take home separate from what we ordered, as well as a nice half off discount on the parking lot up the street. And it was to my great surprise and graciousness that when I peeked at the bill, our dessert was missing- based on the service we received, I would be surprised if this was a mistake. In summary, our trip to Salute was nothing short of a 5 star review. Excellent food, clean bathrooms, calm and friendly atmosphere, and I do not understate this when I say that the service was IMPECCABLE. Thank you very much to Jimmy, Vincent, and Salute as a whole for a wonderful evening- we will be back.

For happy hour they offer an option of different sliders ( 1 for $6 for HH) I tried the chicken slider which was amazing highly recommend my friends loved the caprese and the regular beef sliders all were amazing can't go wrong . I personally don't recommend the HH pizza it's just too small I recommend just getting the regular size honestly . The chips for happy hour are great for sharing they give you plenty for just $3 ! Overall great time , good service ( though it did take a little while to get our food ) , great atmosphere ( and on weekend they do have a Dj at night which is fun )

Within 3 mins, we hadn't even gotten a beverage order in yet, when one of employees, a kid himself, came over to tell us there was a complaint of noise from our table. 1st- the 2 year was playing with his cousin and let out an occasional screech, which we jumped on right away. 2- The noise level of the FAMILY restaurant was at a level where a normal conversation level wasn't happening. 3- A corner table with 3-4bl kids was continuously load...which was fine, they're KIDS. 4- An actual adult employee should have come over instead of at all. It's a shame that the 2 elderly gentlemen who decided to go a family restaurant on a Saturday didn't see exactly how quiet the 2 yr old got when the fried mozz came or when he and his cousin were watching something on a cell phone. Point is, the entire restaurant was loud, it's not a wide open space, there was no wildness or kids out of control going on and should never have been singled out simply because those old to foggys were behind us. We'll be back every 2 weeks as usual, but this was the first let down we've ever had.

So, I'm sitting here, about an hour after having a white clam pizza and I still taste garlic. Not…read moreclams, not cheese, not crust--just the allium family's most fart-prone, overhyped stepchild. I may or may not be contemplating a couple of Tums. I'm conflicted on this 2/5 rating since I wish there was a 2.5/5 option here. There are some promising things about Frank Pepe's: a coal-fired oven, photos of the same white clam pizza I ordered that look more like pizzas I had in Italy than the one I got, and other options for toppings that might work out better. Perhaps asking for light garlic and maybe the addition of the calabrian chilies from the seasonal special pizza (or pickled jalapeños, if available) would've fixed the balance (and topping palatability) of this pizza. A different pizza also may be substantially tastier, but goshdarnit, we're close enough to the ocean that I'd like to think the white clam is a slam-dunk. It's even listed in neon in the window! As ordered, unchanged, off the menu, though, I feel like I need to leave this state for a pizza just to feel something. Connecticut calling itself "the pizza state" has thus far been a lie; a cruel joke wherein a few outstanding outliers try to gloss over the fact that most of the state's pizza is mid-to-bad. "Mystic Pizza" being one of the state's most famous audiovisual exports sort of fits given that the availability of standout pizza here appears to be a mystical unicorn I've yet to find after moving here last year. Pepe's gets serious props for using large chunks of clams that don't look like the typical, uniformly cut, restaurant-supply-can chunks, but they were a bit rubbery and almost completely drowned out by the amount of garlic. It's like they were cooked too long, and the moisture from the clams evaporated accordingly. The crust had a little crunch to it as well, but lacked the crispy bubbles and heavier charred spots I expect from this style of pizza and from the assorted menu photos. Either go foldable or go harder on the fire--anywhere in between lands in disappointment territory. Commit to a bit. $8 a pint is a bit much for basic beer selections like Sam Adams and Peroni, too, but that's sort of my least concern. We live in Hell where everything is expensive lately, and at least beer prices haven't shot up as badly as gas prices. I probably should've ordered the sangria in hindsight. White peach? Here for it. Also, the staff was friendly, and service was prompt. I really should give it a second chance with a more traditional tomato-sauce pizza, or maybe a margherita. If you go, expect it to fall short of the hype unless whoever made the nicely bubbly white clam pie in the photos posted here is manning the oven. Unless you like garlic as much as I like cheese, consider asking to go light on the garlic for a better-balanced pizza if you order this one.
