This is my third time coming to sparrow pizza bar . And second time for happy hour ! Located right in west Hartford center makes it the perfect spot to grab a drink and a quick bite after work . Happy hours 3:30-6 M-F To start I got the red sangria ($7 during HH) which was okay however it had a hint of ginger which I personally did not like . So then I tried the white sangria and that was very good . For happy hour they offer an option of different sliders ( 1 for $6 for HH) I tried the chicken slider which was amazing highly recommend my friends loved the caprese and the regular beef sliders all were amazing can't go wrong . I personally don't recommend the HH pizza it's just too small I recommend just getting the regular size honestly . The chips for happy hour are great for sharing they give you plenty for just $3 ! I love it here!!! No, I don't think you understand how much I actually mean that! Like a fool, I waited a couple of years before checking them out but after the first experience I wanted to go back constantly! Whether it's for dinner or happy hour, I am a huge fan of this spot and their perfectly thin crust pies, so this is right up my alley! The toppings and topping combinations are unique and fresh and delicious and I really just can't say enough good things about it. OMG, and if you can possibly save room, I highly recommend the ice cream sandwiches for dessert! Big enough to share, but I didn't. First time visiting Sparrow Pizza Bar and my reaction was mixed. The interior was nice, very modern and sleek and it was very clean. We went for lunch on a Saturday and it was pretty quiet. Our server Ethan was very nice and honestly the highlight of our visit! The pizza was good, the crust was different, thin and kind of crackery and I got the small 6 inch with a half panzanella salad. Pizza was a little greasy, I did have bacon on it but it was still a little too greasy for me and the salad was good but not a panzanella. Yes the menu specified it was croutons not torn bread which is the traditional way it's made. But it would be better with actual bread. My boyfriend had the Cesar salad which was ok but a bit overdressed. Overall not a bad experience but not sure I'll be back. read more

I went back for Happy Hour with the girls! So well worth it! Happy Hour goes from 3-6pm. I was missing their delicious GF pizza! This time I added my own toppings. Their beet salad is delicious! So sweet! I had friends who aren't fans of beets who tried and loved it! The portion was enough to share if you got other apps or pizzas! Stopped into Sparrow Pizza for happy hour on a beautiful day, the entire front wall was open to the outside, felt like the official kickoff to spring! Kyle was the best, super helpful splitting our check and made a killer drink. The chips are insanely crispy and perfectly seasoned, definitely enough to share and a must get. I went here for happy hour with my girlfriends. Their sliders for happy hour are delish! Only $6 a slider, you can get multiple to mix and match flavors. But just one is enough to fill you up! I got two caprese sliders as this was the vegetarian option and they were so yummy. They offer discounted drinks but mocktails were full price for happy hour. We sat at the bar and the bartenders were so nice, attentive and even split our complicated bill with grace. Me and my family came for brunch on a Sunday afternoon before heading home. It was pretty quiet and took a second to be sat but the staff were really friendly. They found out it was our first time in the restaurant and gave us a complimentary order of Arancini to welcome us. The Arancini were made with risotto that has peas in it so it was a different take for me. I'm not a fan of peas but they're easy enough to pick out and the overall flavor of the cheese, rice and outside fried to inside gooey texture was really good! We also split an order of shrimp scampi that I don't see on the menu online but it was there when we were there around the second weekend of July. The shrimp were a large size, really fresh, cleaned well, and had great flavors with butter, garlic and a little bite maybe for some with the red pepper flakes but for me it was a perfect bite. The meatballs were huge!! I was surprised when they dropped them off at the table, they were still really tender cutting into them and the vodka sauce was a different but nice touch. I thought it was cute that the cheese sticks were literally on a stick and great for sharing. Super stringy mozzarella for a great cheese pull as well. They made my inner child happy! Lastly, we split the Shy-Roni pizza which was fabulous with the hot honey drizzle! Super thin crust, great pepperoni and overall great bite. Finally tried Sparrow. It was so good. It's not like your traditional pizza with a thick crust or even a thin crust or a New York-style crust. It was thinner than thin, almost like corrugated cardboard with toppings. The waitress described a "cheese crown" on the crust, and, who doesn't want a crown made of cheese? The crust makes this pizza unforgettable. People who do not eat the crust are missing out big time at this spot! Food: I felt like I had to try the Beat Bobby Flay because that is why this restaurant has notoriety. It did not disappoint. "The Sauce" had this zesty, citrusy taste, that really elevated the flavor to the next level. 10/10. Coming in second is this phenomenal pepperoni pizza, the Shy-Roni. You can always judge a pizza joint by their pepperoni. It was a little greasy (like it should be) but that just means they were generous with the pepperoni, so I'm not complaining. Really a great pie. 9/10. Something to know is that the happy hour menu has smaller size pizzas, so it's a great way sample the menu. I can't wait to try the Shrimp & Ritz next. The fries were also good, and reminiscent of a Portuguese fry in that it is round and not a stick like a French fry. The ranch was homemade and was fresh, a little dilly, and absolutely delicious with the Cajun seasoned fries. Drinks: The happy hour menu had a nice drink selection, but nothing pairs better with pizza than beer. I tried a cream ale and I really loved it. I also loved the $3 price tag. The happy hour prices are great! Looking forward to a cocktail next time. Ambiance: The patio in the Center is perfect on a sunny day. Sparrow's interior has beautiful art and decor hanging on dark walls so the bright color pops. It is all a cool vibe. There is no bad seat at Sparrow. Service: I couldn't have asked for a better server. The service was just as good as the food. Our server was quick, attentive, and genuinely kind. She made sure everything was perfect without being intrusive, and I really appreciated that. Good service can make or break an experience, and she definitely made ours better. I am already looking forward to my next slice, or two! Sparrow is officially my new choice for dine-in pizza in West Hartford. My favorite spot in west Hartford!! My first time here was for a night out, and I had a great time! It's super fun when the dance floor opens up and there's a dj, I love how big the bar is so it doesn't take forever to get a drink. I finally came back for happy hour and had a great time!! I've eaten here once with friends and it was like eating with a loud crowd in an echoing cavern. Casual conversation was near impossible because I couldn't hear what anyone was saying. It became deafening when a huge mob arrived for a pub crawl. Still, the waitress was friendly and service was good even though it was really busy. As for food, their super thin crust personal-sized pizzas are delicious! It really is perfect bar food: salty, crunchy, and goes well with a cold bubbly beer (or soda if you don't drink). Finally made it to Sparrow and I'm a big fan. We ordered: - mozz sticks - braised beef bruschetta - the ruby pizza with chicken - carnitas pizza - passion of the spice and butterflies scare me to drink! I loved everything I tried! My favorite was the carnitas pizza so I'll start with that. It literally tastes like a carnitas taco down to the chulula packet, such a great touch. I had to remember I was sharing, and had a bunch to try, because my eyes were definitely eating for my stomach. I enjoyed the ruby pizza as well. We added chicken and it was a great touch. Their crust is thin and crispy but not dry and burnt, it's really done well. The mozz sticks and braised beef bruschetta were sooo good too! I enjoyed the sauce with the mozz and wish my bartender didn't grab it when I wasn't looking because I'm sure it'd be perfect for slice dipping as well. Our bartender was great! He was very attentive and kept our water glasses full on the side which I always appreciate. Inside is so unique with the Keith Haring touches and the lighting at the bar. They divide the restaurant into two area, the bar and another section of the place with booths and tables. For an app we opted for the mozzarella sticks. They brought meatballs out by accident and let us keep them so bonus review. The meatballs were super tasty, definitely homemade and had light sauce for them, would get them again. The mozzarella sticks came out on a stick, cool presentation, dipped in marinara, also very good. Now to the pizza, it's very similar to Colony. SUPER THIN style pizza with some crunch, I'd give it the nod over Colony. I got the H.O.P. Pizza which was made with Calabrian Chili Oil. Since it was my first trip to Sparrow the manager came out with a free appetizer of rice balls which were amazing. We went during happy hour which is m-f 3-6 pm. I got the white sangria for seven dollars, which was very good. I also did a build your own pizza with vodka sauce, goat cheese, and mushrooms. The pizza was to die for the goat cheese was so creamy highly recommend. We did order the salt and pepper potato chips, they forgot to bring out but they packed them to go for us and took it off the bill. The restaurant has a real cool vibe, warm lighting, artistic graffiti on the walls, and it's nice and spacious. I will be coming again for sure. read more

I have been to Sparrow several times for Sunday Sips and it has been a go-to after a long shift for drinks and some bites. The restaurant is always clean with a nice ambiance for hanging out with friends, and we are always sat quickly. For food, the main highlight for me are the truffle parm fries-- they are perfectly crispy, fresh with a great black truffle sauce. The mozzarella sticks are also really good, crispy and a good size and come with a generous amount of marinara sauce. The pizzas are also good-- they are very thin and not necessarily crispy on the bottom, but the toppings are generous and are the right size for a single dinner portion. For around $14-18 per pie it is a pricier for pizza comparative with other options, but they have nice and quality toppings and interesting specialty pies. Almost every single time I have gone to Sparrow we have gotten great service, the waitresses have been quick to take orders and make sure we have drinks and water at the table. However, notably we had very subpar service a couple months ago which was so bad I almost did not come back. On a Sunday, which was not busy at all save 2 large group tables and maybe 3-4 couples at other tables (this restaurant has dozens of tables), our waiter NEVER came up to our table, never offered us water, or acknowledged our existence in any way. Another waiter fortunately seated us and after 10 minutes took our drink order, but emphasized that the other waiter was supposed to serve us. We waited another 20 minutes without having our order taken, and not being acknowledged by the man who was supposed to be our waiter (who was I guess struggling to split the check for a large table, but when not serving them was on his phone or chatting with someone else) and having all the other wait staff chatting with each other on their phone until the waiter who took our drink order came back with our drinks and we had to ask him to please take our order. Thankfully this has been a one off bad experience, and we received our food quickly after finally ordering, but was worth mentioning as IDK if waiters are only assigned a specific section but it was a lot to have been ignored for a half hour by the waiter assigned to our table. read more

It wasn't the best drink ever and I do regret paying the $13.50 for it. The pizza was delicious. The edges were burnt so the cheese did have a tart flavor there but otherwise it was yummy. Very greasy tho so be mindful of that. What I am upset about is the price. The pizza and a choice of dip is $17.50 which isn't bad for the actual quality, but beware of your bill at the end. I was charged $2 for the dip as if it was an extra side dip. So almost $20 for a pizza was pushing it. Service was good generally speaking. We were pretty quickly seated considering it was around 7pm on a Friday night and it was soon starting to get packed. We decided to sit outside but the weather was way too windy and they had no issue moving us inside. Waiter was very friendly and attentive to us as well. The atmosphere was calm but loud. Not the restaurants fault tho, music was low just a lot of people talking over each other. I would love to go again and see what changed on the menu since it seems like a lot of new things were added. This isn't a place I would frequent tho considering the prices and portions. The restaurant was fairly busy and I don't think they were staffed properly because the bartender was busy and also serving tables. So the wait on drinks was a little annoying. We ordered the brussels sprouts as an appetizer. I ordered the Cajun Spiced Chicken sandwich and my husband ordered the Beat Bobby Flay pizza. The sprouts were good--a little greasy but seasoned well and I loved the buttermilk ranch dressing on them. My chicken sandwich was good but it did not taste very Cajun-ey. The pizza was spicy! We also ordered pizza, one truffle and one pepperoni with hot honey. The truffle was delicious, wonderful flavor from the mushroom. The pepperoni was good, but the hot honey was missing the hot part.
