Honestly, this place is hit and miss, but I ALWAYS go back for the Firecracker Shrimp Tacos. These are always fresh and amazing. There have been many times when there is not enough staff to serve the volume of customers. I have learned that if I'm not greeted withine 5 minutes, it's better to leave than to have a bad experience. I would say that I generally stay 1 out of 3 visits. The Snake RIver Burger was a great burger per my partner, but I am all about the shrimp tacos here. The ingredients are always fresh and tasty and there in NOWHERE that can compete anywhere in CA for this flavor combination. Some friends and I popped into Vista Del Mar for a late lunch. We ordered some Moscow mules, which tasted great, and we got some fried vegetables for the table, which were also delicious. I ordered Oysters & Chips because I'm a huge fan of oysters. Everything was very reasonably priced and came with large portions. The atmosphere was fun, great music was playing, service was great and quick, food was delicious and tasted fresh, and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Unexpected find while traveling on the 101 and so happy to find something open past 10 pm for food. I had the Oyster Po Boy and my husband had the Vista Burger. The bartender Kalynn keeps it real. I've seen multiple rude customers and she is overly tolerant to the point it becomes ridiculous. They do an excellent job being punctual and telling people to get the F out when the time comes. And the issues are resolved quickly and peacefully. We ordered a bowl of clam chowder, one fried fish taco and the beef brisket sandwich. The clam chowder was amazing and had lots of bacon! The fish taco was also very tasty as well as the brisket! But the side pickle shocked us as it was really crisp and had an amazing spice! Lots of beer and cider choices. I tried the McIntosh cider and was really good. The place was packed, a juke box was playing some great music, and everyone was enjoying themselves. A few random people would walk through and just check the place out and leave. We picked a table in the corner and one of the bartenders came out within minutes and took great care of us, checking back often, even though the bar was packed. Great food at a very local bar. My husband wanted to eat at the coast and this is next to a fish packing company on the beach. Close enough. Our server was wonderful. We sat in a little back room by ourselves but we're not forgotten. The food came quickly and was hot and delicious. I had firecracker shrimp tacos that were amazing. As a recommendation from some locals at the Humboldt Cider Tap House, we checked this place out. They did have good options on tap and we had a side of fries with Buffalo Sauce. I did see the salads on the menu and would have gone in that direction if this is where we we going to have dinner. We have been to Eureka 3 times since 2017 and this was a first for us. I do hope to come back and try more yummy food from this location. Honestly great food and a comforting local vibe. It's a bit unassuming when you pull up on it but inside the ambiance is very much 'bustling bar' where all the locals met up for their own little dinners and such. The waitress who seemed to be running the place and I am completely blanking on her name was PHENOMENAL. She was constantly working 3-5 tables, taking bar orders, making drinks and so forth. All in heels. All while keeping a totally bubbly and kind personality? Superhero. She brought out our food and I was very impressed with how good everything came out. My partner particularly kept mentioning their honey mustard, while I was a huge fan of the caesar dressing for my salad (it has to be homemade,right?).
