The only reason I signed up on Yelp was because I saw a negative review of Dr. Kraft. Well I am an Army Brat, and Army guy, and now I just move to where ever my next job is... I have never had a personal Doctor or medical person,,, just the Doctor who was on call. I had a Job in the DC Area and went to Dr. Kraft and he was great and even with my sever astigmatism he got it right the first time and the next ten times I went to see him. No one has ever done that for me. I have been seeing him for about 16 years... I live in Raleigh NC but will be in DC next week and I have made my appointment with him... BECAUSE I tried a doctor down here and could not wear the glasses... (probably not all her fault as I was exhausted when I went for the exam). BUT since I am going to be up there I am going to get my eyes checked... I rarely bought my glasses at Visionworks because they had to send them out and instead went to Lenscrafters for the one day service..... but for my prescription even they now take five days... So maybe I will get some from them... read more

Dr Kraft is amazing. Professional, thorough and is very focused on thencustomer experience. He is patient and just very detailed. I would recommend him wholeheartedly. His staff is nice as well, but he steals the show. When I wasn't sure I'd love my new perscription, he let me go a week as with free trial lenses and had me come back to finalize. The very best place to buy glasses ever! Make sure you ask for Kimberly Burroughs, she is the kindest most knowledgable person anywhere. I came to the store with my brother to help him pick out new frames. My brother had many insurance questions and Kimberly answered every question in clear detail. In fact she called the Washington, D.C. Location for clarification on one question. We spent over three hours at the shop trying on almost every pair of glasses in the store. Kimberly was honest and told the truth if the glass looked good or bad. Kimberly was so awesome I even bought frames to bring back to Texas. I will be sure to call the local vision works for my eye exam and to have lenses put in my new frames. Kimberly you have customers for life. Thank you for being so good at your job. Simply the worst. Every week I get a call that my glasses are taking another week. Excuse after excuse. A month to wait for glasses is insane and they play this game stringing you along so you don't cancel. Going there for help is a joke too. Picking out your glasses you get no help. When I found a pair and asked if they came in another color, the sales woman said "I don't know. Go online and check". Huh? So I did and guess what - they have more colors. And VisionWorks apparently charges double that of retail price! Explains their whole 2-for-1 special. More like 2-for-3. When I called to redeem my "free" pair, they said they couldn't find my record either. Scammers? These guys don't care about service, don't spend a dime on training, and rip off the customer for a quick buck. Although in my case, not that quick. More like a slow bleed. read more

I'd recently bought prescription glasses and sunglasses here. I found the selection to be good (they even had rimless), the service was good, and the prices were competitive (although I always feel that prescription glasses are overpriced). The only downside regarding selection was that a lot of the frames were made in China, which I've generally found for other products to be a bit inferior in quality, but we'll see how these hold up. After the glasses were ready, I tried them on and noticed that the vision in the left eye was a bit off. After wearing them for a couple weeks, I got a followup eye exam and realized that my prescription had worsened significantly over the nearly 12 months since I'd last gotten my eyes checked. Even though it was no fault of Visionworks, they honored their return policy and are presently making two new pair for me. They were really nice about it. In fact, they even fixed my old pair of glasses (that I'd bought from a competitor) while I waited. read more

Okay NO!! I hate this doctor so much! While I was picking up my glasses the doctor had a terrible attitude about my eyesight and he gave a terrible attitude to my friend who was with me while picking up a pair of her glasses too making rude remarks while everybody else wears glasses now and he wears glasses himself. Would NOT recommend!! We switched to another eye doctor due to my doctor's horrible attitude in Tysons Corner VA and the lady at the receptionist office was too nosy and wanted to know why. Maybe I don't want to share directly towards you!! THIS IS WHY WE DID!! And now you have lost business with a former customer and I'm glad you did! I am surprised to see all these mediocre reviews. My husband and I went to the VisionWorks in Tysons because it was a convenient location for us, and also because they were in-network with our insurance. We were both seen by Dr. Kraft, and as some of the other reviews here mention, he is really great. He really takes his time, doesn't rush you out. Besides being a really good eye doctor, what I also really liked about him is that he doesn't act like a sleazy car salesman (as many eye docs now a days seem to be), pushing you brands and procedures you don't need. He explains the options available, but he is very clear that the decision is up to you. Based on our experience, the staff, starting from the gentleman who greeted us when we first walked in to the lady who helped us with our contact purchase/insurance issues (Hari?) were fantastic. They were thorough and very friendly. Definitely recommend this place! read more

Not sure if there was a management change but the customer service desk seemed disorganized - papers falling all over the place and the staff members were not coordinated with one another. This place has worst and least humane customer service. The point of them having many different assistants is that no one is responsible for what any of them say over the phone. I don't usually post a review unless I experienced really bad or really great! But I had to post about this location. I had an eye exam at this location this morning and I had an exceedingly great experience with the doctor and staff. Dr. Kraft was very professional, knowledgeable, and gracious and Ms. Kimberly is the Manager and she was a pure delight! I witnessed her greeting all customers in a jovial and very personable manner. She was all smiles and in my interaction with her she was great! She had excellent customer service and listened to my concerns in terms of frames and explained all of the promotions applicable to my new glasses prescription and answered all of my questions. She was quite knowledgeable about the frames and I left feeling really good about my new glass frames knowing they were a perfect fit for my face as well as being as affordable. I highly recommend going to this location and working with Ms. Kimberly and Dr. Kraft. They are really great to work with! read more

We have been going there for several years only because Dr. Kraft is there. The service at eye glasses store is absolutely awful. First, their sales people are not helpful at all in assisting you with selecting of frames. Second, if you need to get your frame fitted their fitting staff is so incompetent. Last year, after several failed attempts I took my frame to Costco to have it adjusted correctly. Third, I just purchased another pair of computer glasses but the prescription was so far off. I drove all the way to there to talk to them and they said they put in the wrong prescription on the lenses. After the second attempt, same problem occurred. I took the glasses home and found out it was so far off so went back to the store. Again, it was the same problem. So I now have to go through the same routine again. I should have tested the glasses there, but who would have thought that they would screw up something that's so basic. My wife and I plan to switch to a different store next year. I just don't have time and patience to deal with incompetent people. read more

I went to get my glasses adjusted about 40 mins ago. While cleaning my glasses, Elizabeth dropped the tissue she was using on the floor, picked it up and then resumed cleaning my glasses with said tissue. I asked her not to use the tissue that had fallen on the ground. She did not apologize and, clearly irritated, grabbed another tissue. Elizabeth then wrapped her bare hands so that her palms touched and rubbed my lenses while she was attempting to adjust them. I told her that techs in the past who have handled my glasses have always used a tissue because the oils from skin were damaging to the reflective coating. I asked her to please use a tissue. She objected, ignored me, and continued to use her palms. I continued to vehemently explain to her that I purchased these $400 pair of glasses from this store and she should treat another's property with respect. She continued to ignore me and use her hands. When I had asked her to adjust my glasses the way the techs have in the past, i.e., ensure that my lashes are not touching the lenses, even placement around ears and on bridge, etc) she continued to say that none of that mattered only how I felt and that I could look in a mirror. You are the ones who told me how glasses should be handled and fixed and yet you are the ones who have now damaged them. I have been purchasing glasses from here for a decade. Please demonstrate that my loyalty merits apropos treatment. Please contact me to replace my lenses complimentary. read more

Horrible.The customer service is awful. I did not see a doctor here so I dont know about that but I came only to purchase lenses for my frames what I already had. The price was not the best but since they were going to have it ready within an hour I agreed to buying the lenses there. I picked them up an hour later and as soon as i tried them on I could tell something was wrong with the right lens, since it was extremely blurry and I my eyesight was actually better without them on. I mentioned this to them and they kept saying I needed to give it time, after I repeatedly assured them that my right lens was wrong they told me to go see my doctor to makes sure "he gave you the right prescription" The following day I had to go back to my doctor he checked my eyes and sure enough the prescription was right but they had just put in the wrong thing on the lens. I even went to another doctor to double check and they said the same thing. VIsionworks put the incorrect prescription on my glasses. This cost me several hours of me going back and forth and taken off work. I just went back today for a refund and the worst part is that the lady there (not sure what her name is but she has a strong African accent) got smart with me and and repeatedly was rude to me. Not sure how these people are even in business but I called and complained with vision works and I felt obligated to speak out on how unprofessional these people are. They should've double checked the lenses as soon as I said that this was wrong but they didn't take the time and told me my doctor made the mistake. Never again. read more

Not a place to go if you need anything more than the basics. I tried to have my high index glasses made here this summer. After two remakes, manager took them back and told me to go somewhere else. Good advice! Then, he neglected to contact my vision insurance plan to release the benefits so when I did go somewhere else to use my benefits it was much more complicated than it should have been. Blue Cross called Visionworks Tyson's to find out what was going on and the girl they spoke to said I never returned the glasses. Winds up she looked at another patient's chart with the same name! What ever happened to checking date of birth? Finally, the new manager Ron straightened it out and now all is well but it shouldn't have taken this long if the manager I dealt with this summer did his job in the first place. Lots of support staff turn over. On a positive note...Dr Kraft is awesome...Sadly he is affiliated with this group. read more

So many issues. First, the sales person kept calling me pet names like "Honey" and "Sweetheart". I am in my mid 30's and a working professional, I showed up in a suit and heels. Don't call me Honey. The store was dirty, the try on glasses covered in smudges and fingerprints. Whoever purchases the women's glasses busy all the same, glittery, bedazzled cat eyed options from different brands. They are terrible. I ended up over in men's options just to find something that wasn't covered in brand names or fake diamonds. I waited ten days to get my glasses, and called before driving there only to find out that although my "promise date was for the 16th they probably wouldn't be ready until after 5pm. A fun fact they completely left out when I purchased the glasses, and when I called three days prior to my promise date to confirm my order would be ready. Terrible service, terrible selection. The only good thing was the eye exam, the Dr. was thorough and great. But I walked out of the exam room to be accosted by the manager who was trying to push me into buying glasses that day. He literally held my receipt and paperwork after I asked for it multiple times and told him I didn't have time to make the purchase that day. HORRIBLE! NEVER AGAIN!!!! read more

If I could give zero stars I definitely would. This place is awful. Their service is simply terrible. I went to pick my glasses only to find out that they had lost them. they had received them two days earlier, but had no idea where they were. I waited for an hour and no one once apologized or gave me a definitive explanation. In fact, the first lady that "helped" me ended up walking away. I ended up leaving and told them to give me a call with an update by the end of the day. Obviously no one called. During the time I was there I witness a lady wait for at least 45 minutes to get her glasses, an older gentleman get the wrong prescription and other customers who ended up walking out because of the lack of service. They had 4 people working on this day so they are definitely not understaffed. They are simply mismanaged. read more

Dr. Kraft truly cares about his patients! I had an issue with my contacts that caused my eyes to be very red and irritated after only a few hours of wear. The issue happened out of the blue; I had been wearing contacts for years. I thought I could never wear contacts again! But he was so patient and was determined to get me back to my old self. He developed a plan where I got my eyes used to contacts all over again and he tried different kinds of contacts on me. It took several months and setbacks but I am so happy to report that I can wear contacts again and it's all due to his patience and plan. Without him, I would have given up and assumed I had to wear only glasses. Dr. Kraft is so pleasant and caring - thanks so much!! read more

Extremely dissatisfied with Visionworks! If you don't want to throw away your hard-earned money, DON'T come here and here's why.. The staff is very deceptive. I am 18 years old and went in to get contacts for the first time. Previously I researched multiple things regarding the process to attain contacts one of them being that a doctor must by law give you a contact prescription after you conduct an eye exam. I went for the eye exam then a lady called Elizabeth Bau went over their contact package pricing. When I told her I only wanted the prescription she told me that wasn't possible; clearly using my age against me. I was going to let it pass because it's not a big deal, and I chose the cheapest plan (bi-weekly 44.95). Except, then she said that 44.95 price was for each eye so it was actually 90$. Why that wasn't written on the sheet she showed me, I don't know. Still I was like okay I know she's ripping me off a little but I liked Mr. Kraft (the optometrist) and don't mind paying for his service. It doesn't stop there. She then continued teaching me how to put my contacts in (had to do it 3 times and it took around an hour) and while I was putting them on she got into a real conversation with me about school and her family and mine. I thought she was trying to be nice and friendly so I kept talking with her and enjoyed the convo. When it got to making the payment she said she'd add a discount card to "help me out". The discount card gave me 22.50 dollars off but it costed 30 $ (so it ultimately increased the price). Furthermore the final price came to be 231 (with all supposed "discounts"). Yet it doesn't add up on the receipt which is showing two payments of 44.95 (net value of 90$) for the contacts (which they didn't give me nor tell me how I can get them), one payment of 49$ for the eye exam (which is all I wanted in the first place), one payment of 35$ for "CL Topic Evaluation" (which I have no idea what it is), and 30$ for the discount card. These all total 205$ and it's not even including the supposed discount of 22.50$. Elizabeth was typing on the cashier computer for a good 20 minutes and I remember she acted fast and nervously as if she was purposely increasing the price. Soon after I made the payment she told me to go to eyewearsurvey.com and fill out a survey for her while she put my receipt in a bag. Before I was finished with the survey she left without a subtle bye. There I was fully confident that she was helping me out actually and that our conversation held some meaning. Not only did she lie in the worst way (saying they couldn't give just a prescription when that's against the law and lying when she said she'd help out with the price) but also Visionworks has created a distasteful atmosphere of distrustful individuals that I can't stand being in the same building with. It's disgusting to see the healthcare field be affected by such greed. I will go back tomorrow to see if their "satisfaction guarantee" is just for display or not. If this review is still up then they've lied once again with that guarantee displayed also on their website. read more
