I experienced multiple problems with insurance billing using this location. I have never had this problem before at any other business I have purchased glasses. Tried to resolve over the phone by simply asking for receipts to be emailed to me, and they would not accommodate my request, even after verifying my name, phone number...etc. I now need to drive down there to fix something that should have been done correctly to begin with. I have looked at alll the reviews about this spot and they are all years old! I gave Visionworks a shot. I am glad i did! Every one was professional and polite. I was a walk in and was given an appointment for the same day! I came back an hour later to my appointment. My whole process lasted about an hour from picking my frames and trying many on, finally finding some nice ones i want. Prices are more then fair, and they work with VSP insurance. They paid for mostly everything! I paid for the extras that i wanted done to my glasses. I recommend visiting visionworks for your next pair of glasses! I will update once they come in, in a couple weeks hopefully everything continues to go well! So far i give then 5 stars because of their super amazing staff!! Thank you!!! read more

I would go back to this location. I took my daughter for her annual eye exam and it was a good experience. The in take was good, we were greeted right away. The optometrist doing the eye exam was very informative, he is really good with kids. The person helping us pick out glasses was very knowledgeable. I was able to get a pair my daughter loves plus a back up pair with a few helpful suggestions to get more out of my insurance. I will return in the future read more

They made an appointment for me, then 2 weeks later and the day before the appointment, called to tell me their "new" optometrist still didn't have their credentials and my insurance wouldn't accept the appointment claim until they had. In other words, that's like a hospital scheduling you for open heart surgery but the cardiologist performing the operation hasn't finished medical school yet. Ridiculous. read more

If I could give them negative stars I would. I ordered both eyeglasses and contacts and never received either. Every time I asked for a status no one had a straight answer for me. They even tried to give me the wrong glasses. There was never any communication from them to me. I have called customer service and corporate to complain. I will never go back to another Visionworks in general. I do not recommend this location at all. Update: @Visonworks customer service. This is such a joke. I have called and spoken directly with your customer service and emailed you while this was all happening only to receive absolutely no resolution at all. This Visionworks is over in Southlands. It is a freestanding building near JC Penneys (if you go looking for it and can't find it!). After the last visit, I realized a Yelp was needed. Here is the thing - if you need cheap glasses or a couple spare pair places like Visionworks can't be beat. I wear contacts 99% of the time, but I do need back up glasses and don't like to spend money on them. So Visionworks cheap prices and 2 for 1 is great...in theory. The problem at this location is with their staff. They range from pushy and borderline rude to totally disinterested and incompetent. For instance, when I bought my glasses they guy INSISTED that I needed TONS of extras. Even though I tried to explain I would wear these less than an hour a day. He acted like if I didn't get every kind of coating I might as well just leave. Well I got what I wanted in the end, but I left feeling worn down! Then just as a sort of funny side note, when I picked up the glasses the same guy said 10Xs you HAVE to use a microfiber cloth to clean these (like I am new to glasses or something) and then proceeded to clean my new lenses with a tissue! Idiot! The last 2 times we went in for my husband the staff have been TOTALLY uninterested in helping. I mean once they basically told us to go somewhere else to get glasses (lol!) and the second time the women working were more interested in where to get ice cream than answering any questions. At any rate, we will never go to this Visionworks again. Cheap or not, getting glasses requires a bit of service and this place doesn't have the staff to accommodate even the most basic request. After 3 years of being a loyal family of customers to this store, I have to say we will not be returning next year. The staff greeted us with, "Which one of you is at 4:15? Because your 6 minutes late, I just talked to the Dr. and he is only able to see one of you." ( STRIKE 1) Then, I was told I couldn't touch or try on any of the frames unless I REALLY LIKED THEM. Haha, tell that to my 7 yr old. He liked ALOT OF THEM. (STRIKE 2) Oh, and let me just say....there were 3 employees in the customer front desk area, and 1 other customer. Horrible service here. My glasses were totally wrong, I wear contacts as well. Somehow they completely screwed up my perception on the glasses. Thankfully my contact were right. I caught the error via the receipt and order print off. I called the same day, they told me the doctor said it was not an error. Told me to wear my glasses and come back if I have issues or headaches. I had bad headaches and vision issues. I went back to the location in Southlands to get this problem resolved, they took my glasses to have the lenses recut and corrected. It's been over 2 weeks and I still do not have my glasses back. I will never go back here and I do not recommend. Lastly, I over heard a conversation between two employees (sales folks) working the front desk and fittings area say to each other to upsell all customers because they get commissions on every dollar. read more

Went to this place twice for Glasses in 2 years just because of convenience! Never again! First time my glasses broke with in the one year frame guarantee,,, they didn't honor it! Second time I bought two pairs of glasses had to wait a month for the first pair and the second pair hasn't arrived yet! I called their Store On the Southlands Mall Aurora, Co. multiple times and they put you on hold for 20 minutes hoping you hang up! Not happening! Do NOT go to this Visionworks location!!! I have been a customer there for years. On my last visit, they recorded my prescription incorrectly. I order my glasses through a different site due to Visionworks high frame costs and when I received them, obviously they were blurry. I contacted Visionworks who said "Whoops, you're correct, the Doctor gave you the wrong prescription." I asked if they would pay for replacement glasses since the error was neither mine, nor the provider I ordered them from. They said no (even after I escalated it), but they would give me a free re-do exam to make sure I get the correct prescription. Well, now I am out over $100 on glasses that don't work for me...and they weren't willing to make it right. Stay away!!!! read more

I would not reccomend at all, with the exception of their doctors. Dr. Begal was great and took the time needed to make sure my family was taken care of, including my children. The Visonworks staff was terrible with overcharging, upselling items after being told no and when asked about a certain product, I was told "huh" then "no" and they turned away not bothering to try and assist. Not real customer friendly. I asked about the possibility of ordering frames, as I have been a Vissionworks customer for 10 plus years. What I was told is we dont do that, even though I have ordered in prior years. I will take my business elsewhere! VSP will be made aware that this really is not a "premiere" location. read more

My recent experience/purchase at VisionWorks at Southlands Mall encompassed exactly that. Since their staff changed last year, I was willing to try VisionWorks again. They apologized for my prior experience, which was horrible, and proved they truly care about their customers, their experience and their happiness. I received exceptional customer service from Emily, Joanna and David. They all took the time to listen, provide feedback and educate me about the new type of lenses I now needed. Emily is an outstanding employee who truly shines! Her genuine, positive attitude is highly appreciated. The selection and prices are great too. The initial process of exam and getting glasses ordered was good. However everything afterword was disastrous. First, I was scheduled for a contact fitting. I showed up for appointment to be told contacts were not in. Two weeks passed, I called to inquire about contacts and still had not arrived. The management said they would contact me when contacts arrived. Four weeks later still have not arrived. Received an e-mail message stating "After a week of having your eyeglasses we wanted to know how they fit" I never received my glasses. Called the store to inquire "Oh yes your glasses are in". The issue with this store seems to be keeping customers informed and keeping a stock of contact lens. With so many optometrist in the market all would be well advised to shop elsewhere. read more

We were visiting Colorado on vacation from New York and my husband accidentally slept on his glasses. They were pretty bent and one lens needed some repair that we couldn't do. Parker and Traci were immediately welcoming and super friendly to us as soon as we entered this location. Parker was able to repair the glasses in no time - as if they were brand new. They both even recommended a few local places we should be sure to visit on our trip. Highly recommend this location - not only for the skill in repairing what we thought was unfixable - but for the amazing kindness the whole staff offered when they didn't need to. I have been waiting for my visit to be over for 2 hours now. My appointment started at 12:30 and now it is 2:21. First my insurance had to be approved which took 30 minutes of being on hold- not their fault but then they only have one doctor on staff for a huge caseload of patients who are in at the same time as me. If they had more than one doctor on staff we could all get through more efficiently and it's a little dangerous considering there are so many of us in this space at one time during COVID. The staff are all friendly but I do not appreciate waiting for so long. One lady is complaining about being here for 30 minutes when I have not said a word. I'm writing this review right now while I wait and I'm sure I could write a whole novel by the time I leave here. Nice people but poor delayed service. read more

I usually don't write reviews. The best thing I can say is they have a great Optometrist. The staff is not real friendly. They seem very cold and sterile. When I tried to make conversation, they may engage with a few words at best.They did not take the time to really assist me when something is needed. I felt I annoyed them when I had questions to ask. After two weeks, I finally received my glasses today, walked out the door and won't go back. I knew I needed another set. I decided to go to LensCrafters for the additional pair . The difference was like night and day. They were so wondering helpful and engaging. They walked me through choosing a frame , showing me all the difference of type of lenses, etc. They went above and beyond! I felt So I recommend LensCrafters for sure! read more

I came here last year to get my son's eyes checked cause we noticed he was squinting a lot and they have relatively cheap glasses. What do you know, he needed glasses (poor guy) and for the cheapo stuff he needed Vision Works was great. However, I've got some pretty crap-tacular eyes and have to get new glasses every couple years. I went in here the other day and was looking at frames and asked one of the girls who was working if she thought I'd be able to use bottomless rims on my glasses or if it'd be too heavy and she asked if I knew my prescription. I said no and tried to hand her my current glasses. I know they can tell by weight if it'd be too heavy, having been wearing glasses for 30 odd years, but she just said she couldn't help me without a prescription. I promptly put the frames down and told the wife we should just go somewhere willing to help us. They're on my hate list now, as the wife likes to say :) read more

I love going to Visionworks in Southlands! Dr Sowash is about the kindest, most thoughtful, caring and knowledgable eye doctor I know. As far as Emily the Retail Manager she will bend over backwards to help you find the perfect glasses that look both amazing and priced right. She is great with contacts too. I went to Emily over at Arapahoe Crossing and she has always been very professional and a great listener so she gets it right the first time. Put your trust and faith in them and you can't go wrong. I was down to my last pair of contact lenses and needed a new prescription, ASAP. There were no open appointments at the SuperTarget where I had gone two years prior, but when I called Visionworks they had an opening on the next day. My exam went well, and I was pleasantly surprised to find my eyesight had improved a bit (according to the doctor, this sometimes happens as a person ages). I got an exam for both contact lenses and regular eyeglasses. My prescription is so strong, they didn't have samples in my strength, so they had to order some. I got my trials in a week and made a follow-up appointment for a week later. I browsed eyeglass frames, but since I only wear my eyeglasses at night before going to bed, I didn't need a new set. There was no strong sales pitch trying to get me to buy a pair of eyeglasses. The technician was helpful and friendly, but in no way pushy. My follow-up appointment went well, and I like the doctor I saw. I ordered a six month supply (which for me will last me a year) and was given both prescriptions. I will return to this place next year for my annual exam. read more

Terrible customer experience! Trying to get an appointment with the same doctor I have used for 30 years but can't specify one on their website. Tried calling store but can't get an actual human being on the phone. Then called the San Antonio HQ Customer Service line. Was on hold for a half hour before someone answered. They had a way to call the store and speak to someone but the store put the agent on hold. Was on hold for fifteen minutes but had to leave for an appointment. When my doctor retires I will NEVER use this company again. read more

We went to get new frames, we had our eye exam appt at another office, but their frame selection was lacking and we didn't want to order from an online company. We were very impressed by the large selection of frames and the friendliness of the employees. It took a little over a week to get our frames and when we went to pick them up, again the employees were great and the frames were just as expected. We will definitely go back. read more

My entire family went to this Vision Works for their annual eye exams and were all very displeased with their service. I got contacts and it was such a chore to try and get anyone to contact me regarding when my contacts came in, multiple times I called and was placed on hold for longer than 10 minutes; after hanging up and calling back I was told that they couldn't find my file and would have to call me back later. Whenever I call it sounds like no one is properly trained or just doesn't want to help me get the information I need. This was not just my experience, my dad ended up walking out and taking his prescription else where because the customer service was so horrible. I will be doing the same as well. I just spoke with the manager at this location and I guess they are under new management so hopefully things get better. read more

I only wear glasses. For decades, literally. Guys, this was the worst experience ever. Save yourself and just run the other in the direction. I had an appointment. I was waiting 50 minutes in an exam room without so much as an update! When I realized my entire appointment time has passed, I stepped outside to ask when I could expect the doctor. The kid had no idea and said she was with a "follow up". That "follow up" was the only other customer in the store, who WALKED IN because contacts didn't fit right. Needless to say I walked out after wasting an hour waiting, which I had to PAY for childcare during. And guess what? Do you believe the doctor never called me to apologize or reschedule? Very weird customer service! I guess the industry really is dying Bc I ordered a pair from Warby Parker online and their customer service was hands down the most amazing experience. Weather you choose an online option or end up physically going, save yourself the trouble and pick somewhere else! This place is an actual joke! read more

I had my annual eye exam at the Southlands Visionworks with Dr. Susan Allen as did my three kids. I've never had an optometrist who was so thorough in going over my current issues. She explained different products I could be using for my contacts, and she (FINALLY) helped me understand my fairly new astigmatism issue. I left there feeling more informed about my eyes than I have in 25 years of wearing glasses/contacts. The staff (namely Alexandra) was incredibly helpful and patient with me and my children as we tried on every pair of available glasses.
