BE SURE TO READ THE OTHER 1 STAR REVIEWS HERE. Dr. Hankenson did the quickest eye exam i ever had. He had me look at the little red barn and read a few lines of letters. No dilation, no eye pressure test & none of the standard questions ODs use to assess serious issues. He seemed more interested in telling my husband and i all about his Colorado road trips. Then, Dr H retrieved a copy of my prescription from another room, came back and said "everything looks great!" No details. I am 53 and i feel like my vision has declined in the past 3 years. So, i asked Dr. H if he could use my glasses to compare how much my vision had changed. "Of course!" He took my glasses & disappeared, returned momentarily & announced, "it hasn't changed much at all!" Again, he provided no data & no details, which seemed odd. The entire exam took 10 minutes, max. On the way home, i had forgotten to ask for a prescription for Bimatoprost . left a message with the receptionist. (i was surprised that i had to explain what it is!) As so many other reviews have said, the office staff is totally incompetent. The message the receptionist took was that i needed a prescription for Prazapam - a medication prescribed for insomnia & anxiety! When Dr H returned my call, he was also confused about what it was i needed but seemed more interested scolding - yes, SCOLDING - me, accusing me of YELLING at his staff on the phone. What i suspect is that this OD accused me of yelling to deflect from his own incompetence. Scolding a patient is a sure way to get them to go somewhere else as they are about to realize that this OD is nothing but a silly quack. read more

Office Staff clearly incompetent!! My daughter had an appointment on a Saturday and they called and said they had to reschedule because the Doctor would be out of town. It was rescheduled for today at 4:30 and said it was for 10am. I wouldn't have scheduled at that time because my daughter is in school. Then they preceded to tell me that they had left a message saying that they no longer accepted my insurance. I received no message!!! Total waste of my time!! read more

I've seen Tom Henkenson for decades. So has my daughter. he's a really pleasant guy. He's also incompetent. I don't think he's ever ungraded his equipment. Both my daughter and I, and especially her, have a significant stigmatism. We never knew til we went to someone capable. I also have cataracts, and have complained about night vision for a few years. They need correction, but this guy would never know. When I called to ask about "floaters and flashes", he wasn't interested enough to talk to me ( it was during the pandemic and I wanted to know if I needed to come in). His receptionist, though, who used to work for an eye surgeon, told me it had a possibility of being a retinal detachment and I should see a specialist. Keep far away from this guy. Dude, you have ONE body part you need to know about. You don't. read more

Worst experience ever. They didn't have the raybans I wanted so I went to eyeconic. Eyeconic kept reaching out to verify prescription and innovative never got back to them. I called multiple times to correct errors on prescription and nothing was ever done. Worst place to do business with! Do not do business with these people!!!! read more

Worst optical experience ever. My husband has previously worked in optical before and his exact words were "I have never had or have seen an eye appointment like that" we were both in and out in less than 20min. No asking to dialate or do pressure tests. My husband has weird eye pressures and this is the first doctor EVER who didn't even notice. They had a really terrible selection of glasses, a girl working there who was completely afraid of talking to customers. We left with our prescriptions (my husband's is completely wrong) and they both have completely different signatures on them. On mine the doctors name isint even spelled right. Would never recommend. We will be going back to our old doctor in Littleton. read more

Dr. Essex is the best eye doctor I have ever had. She took the time to explain everything that she was doing and seeing to me. She was thoughtful and I could tell my eye health really mattered to her. It was an amazing experience in a category I thought never got better than just okay. Don't hesitate. read more

Wanted to write a quick review as I think it is definitely warranted. Was passing through the Denver area on business and had a minor emergency when I tore one of my contact lenses. Was referred to Dr. Hankenson by a colleague and after a quick phone call to see if my insurance would cover I got a ride to the office. The reception folks were nice and accommodating while I waited as I didn't have an appointment. After about 15 min Dr. Hankenson came out and I explained my situation. He was very professional and asked lots of questions during the exam. When it was all said and done I actually ended up with a better prescription which I was surprised at since I thought I was seeing as well as I could to begin with. They were also very thorough in explaining my options on what kinds of lenses would work for me. Overall a very good experience. Would definitely recommend Innovative Eyecare and Dr. Hankenson. read more

We had a great first experience here. The doctor was great. My appointment was for my oldest but like most moms I had to bring my younger kids. They let my younger kid read the letters to check his eye and made him feel like a part of the process. When choosing glasses for my oldest son the employee gave my 5 year old his own pair of glasses (without lenses) since he was so upset the doctor said he didn't need glasses. You made his day. With a great amount of hesitation, I returned to Innovative 02/01/11 with my frames. in which the lens popped out AGAIN, this had to be 3rd or 4th time, and, while lens popping occured in car, could not find lens. I was assured lens would be replaced without charge, to my satisfaction and to regain my confidence. It is now 17 days later, called asking what is lens status, or, were they being held for ransom. I was told the glasses were expected at any time now, that I would receive a call. Luckily, I still have glasses from about 3 years before, for which I had to adjust, but, what if I had no back-up glasses. Coincidentally, I have an exam tomorrow with another eye care provider in my area, going to explore contacts, no way would I return to this merchant if not upon principle of retrieving the materials/ residual monies post eye-insurance. read more

We moved to Innovative Eye Care after having a rough experience with another local eye Dr. in Parker. There we were always pressured to buy contacts through them and it was like pulling teeth to get them to give us our prescriptions. Not so here! Dr. Hankenson is so warm and friendly and happy to see us. We never feel rushed and the other staff are equally as kind. They are always glad to adjust glasses and fix them for us when needed. I've hopped around different eye care professionals in Colorado for last 13 years.. .about 5 years ago I started going to Dr. Hankenson and have been very pleased with his professional manner. I don't know if the other reviewer is maybe attempting to drive away customers or what (maybe work for different eye care co in Parker?)- but that has definitely not been my experience. Once I had a lens that didn't look like it fit to great - on taking it in they fixed it immediately while I was there and didn't have to ask me for my account info or anything. Another time - they were very helpful in trying to find me the best deal as far as packaging rebates, and reviewing my benefits to figure out how to get the best deal I was buying contacts, a nice pair of glasses, and of course the eye checkup. I believe they saved me around $150 (- $50 for mail in rebate) the way they packaged it. They're great and I would recommend to everyone. read more
