a slice of pie, ice cream, and a cup of coffee
    Reb R.

I've been coming to VIP Diner for about 15 years on and off its an old school Diner open 6am-8pm. They have breajfast all day with omelets, french toast, over easy eggs etc plus lunch beef or turkey burgers deluxe with fries, chocolate shakes and so much more. Its a relaxing place to have a meal with friends or your date. Light FM music in the background. VIP Diner is a few blocks from the JSQ Path station and shopping. So many yummy deserts but my favorite is their homemade warm Apple Pie a La Mode (with vanilla ice cream) and signature bottomless coffee. Sure it could use a renovation its classic afterall but if you support your local Diner it will support you!

ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE!!! My wife and our two children got there a little after 7 not knowing they close at 8, so instead of telling us that they were closing soon, they sat us down, took their time bring out our food and then at 7:50PM a women came over and told us they were closing in 10 minutes and we had to rush to eat our food. Then they charge us 20% gratuity of $14. How do you charge gratuity for a party of 4 when 2 of them are under 10? absolutely horrible customer service, what diner closes at 8PM which is like still dinner time for some people. Horrible service, horrible management. I moved to Jersey City 14 years ago and it was open 24 hours and the staff was friendly and courteous. The same bus boy who still works there since I have been coming deserves better than the people running the show now.

Love it here! Super affordable and it tastes great! Great eggs, bacon, and home fries. The grits were so yummy. This is my new favorite underrated spot!

Ordered through Uber Eats. Got a call informing me one item was unavailable, ask for another, same reply. I was able to get eggplant parmigiana which was a plentiful portion and very tasty. I will order again but maybe I should call first to see what is available.

Yummy steak and eggs, waffle and omelet. Coffee keeps refilling. Service is good with light banter.

The food was delicious and the service on point. I would recommend the restaurant. Beautiful and clean. The waiters and friendly and pleasant.

This visit was for Saturday lunch which has brunch dishes and some limited lunch menu items. The scallop and truffle appetizer was like nothing I've ever had before. The oxtail and egg, although listed as an appetizer, could be a meal unto itself, a rich blend of deep flavors that meld perfectly in your mouth. The halibut was presented beautifully and presented a mix of flavors and textures that was just fantastic. Dessert is another stand out experience, the chocolate cake with nuts is epic. The ambiance is…read moreperfect--moody, upscale, and consistently chic--making it a great choice for a high-end night out. The Food: The star of the night was the Spicy Rigatoni. The creamy Calabrian pepper tomato sauce delivers a legitimate, vibrant heat that doesn't hold back. Breaking into the Italian burrata is essential; the creamy center beautifully tempers the spice, while the micro basil adds a nice hit of freshness. We also started with the truffle fries, which were executed perfectly--crispy, aromatic, and a total highlight. The Service: While the food was top-tier, the service wasn't great which is why I deducted 2 whole stars. I ordered a ginger ale that never made it to the table, yet it still appeared on our final bill - not cool. It's a small detail, but at this level of dining and price point, you expect those things to be caught. Also, the service overall was pretty slow which was disappointing. Verdict: Even with the minor billing oversight, the culinary execution is elite. If you're a fan of bold, spicy pasta and a great atmosphere, this is still a JC must-visit. Just double-check your tab!

What a warm, friendly, neighborhood mom 'n' pop restaurant--exactly the kind I love to support. While our food took a bit of time to arrive, it was clearly made from scratch with TLC. You could practically taste it in every bite. Throw in the fact that menu is mostly tried-and-true American comfort food, and you've got a winning combination for an easy dinner that won't break the bank. Our housemade Fish Cakes were perfectly fried, stuffed with fish, and felt like something you'd eat from a stand in downtown Kingston, Jamaica. The Four Cheese Mac 'n' Cheese--at just $10--was a large enough portion for two peoples, made with thinner than traditional macaroni noodles and a lovely broiled top that imparted a smokey char. But the star of the show was undoubtedly the namesake burger. It's one of the best burgers I've had in a long, long time. The grass-fed beef was so perfectly cooked--all the hearty meat flavor you could want and full of succulent jus. The other accompaniments were placed perfectly within the rich, toasted brioche bun, making every bite feel like the culinary equivalent of Jon Bon Jovi singing in your mouth (or insert other American musical icon of your choice). Even the fries were stellar, like Richie Sambora crooning harmony next to Jon.

I wish they had a cocktail or two that wasn't a mimosa. Draft beers were very well priced and my Sapporo did hit. The bulgogi nachos were pretty good. The fried chicken was fine - nice crunch but almost zero flavor. They had a tiny side of honey mustard for dipping, but otherwise, pretty bland. The appetizer sampler was basic, to be honest. I had the chicken dumplings, fries, and cheese sticks. The mozz sticks were, just like the fried chicken, bland. Actually, everything in the sampler platter was bland. I would be back for a beer and the nachos, and I definitely want to come back and try their donkatsu.
