Very thankful that old school diners like this still exist. No frills, no bs, good food, coffee, and friendly service, all at great prices!

I love this joint. The food was very tasty and the prices are affordable. Excellent bang for your buck! Menu is on the wall, so no paper wasted or germs shared ^^. Service was great as well. Friendly lady took our orders and was attentive throughout. I will be back for the other breakfast specials for sure!

Great little mom and pop diner. The staff is so friendly ! It's my understanding these are new owners but they're caring and kind to every customer. The food quality is great and comes out hot and quick. Loved supporting this restaurant! I ordered two orders of pancakes, a western omelette, home fries, corned beef hash, orange juice, and a hot chocolate. Total was $30 and we brought our leftovers home. Great portions. There were tons of locals and long time customers in the restaurant.

Nicks is a old school jersey city legendary diner. It's located on communipaw. It draws a local crowd every single day. I've been here many times. It's very affordable and get a good amount of food. Family owners, mom and pops diner. Nothing fancy just good food

Amazing restaurant/Diner in the heart of Jersey City. I've only eaten breakfast a few times and the pancakes are excellent. Small and cozy. Throw back restaurant. Owners (likely original) are there every day. Cash only. Limited (very limited) street parking. Love this place and stop in whenever I'm in the area.

The food was delicious there was a wait because it was packed the waitress was nice and overall it was great food and service

The food was delicious there was a wait because it was packed but the food got out to us quickly and the waitress was nice and overall it was great food and service. The prices are awesome! You get a lot of food. My plate was nicely but I Dug right in and move on my bacon to the side, it was a nice layout of food. On the table are pancakes French toast, eggs and Bacon the food is delicious.

Is this place good? Worth the trip?

It is lunch counter/diner food. The people there are very sweet, the food is decent and the prices are great. (Note, I have only had omlets, home fries and toast, I have not tried the other food). Is it worth the trip depends on where you are and…

My entree was shrimp and grits which was also delicious, the shrimp was cooked perfectly and there was a poached egg on top which always makes everything better. I got to pick a type of bread to go along with the meal and was about to choose sourdough until the server mentioned the option of a fresh baked biscuit! Bonus - it was served with butter and house made jam. My husband got the mojo chicken which was also very good, especially the black bean puree. We also wanted to try the crispy bacon fried rice (which also came with an egg!) and it was something we'd definitely order again. Last but not least, the service was amazing! Reservation is highly recommended. After stalking their website a month out for a reservation for six, with no luck. I was able to email the restaurant and got a 4 pm reservation. Despite the steady crowd, the service was warm, efficient, and welcoming. As for the food, everything we ordered was excellent. The famous Honey Butter Pancakes absolutely deserve their reputation. It's light, fluffy, and perfectly balanced without being overly sweet. The Korean wings were crispy with just the right amount of heat and sweetness. The katsu chicken sandwich was crunchy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and incredibly satisfying. Even the tuna melt, a diner classic, was perfectly toasted. Golden Diner proves that comfort food can still surprise you. Great service, an electric atmosphere, and a menu that honors diner traditions while adding its own unique personality. It's easy to understand why people are willing to wait for a table, and it's definitely a place we'll return to on our next visit to New York.

I was seated at the counter, and it was fun watching the cooks prepping dishes. The food here is rich and filling. I highly recommend sharing. *Honey Butter Pancake (with berry compote on the side): This is one of the most decadent sweet dishes I've had. The pancake was incredibly fluffy and moist, soaking up the syrup perfectly. The syrup had a rich honey butter flavor with a hint of saltiness (perfect for a pancake!). This is one of the few things I've eaten that definitely lived up to the hype. *Chinatown Egg & Cheese Sando (with sausage): A very solid breakfast sandwich. The highlight was the sesame scallion milk bun, which was nice and soft, with a subtle sweetness. The sandwich was very filling. Service was fine. The food took a little while to come out. The ambiance is a fun throwback to an old-school New York diner. It's a small space.
