Don't let appearances fool you. M might seem like a generic cafe in a gentrified dead zone of up-and-coming luxury buildings, but it's got more flavor than it seems--namely in being accented with Lebanese touches that brighten up even the most mundane dishes. We enjoyed such touches in the Caesar Salad and Harissa Wings, the latter of which offered a great mix of smokey sauce and crispy edges. Their Lotus Cheesecake was another surprise hit, with its cookie butter/Biscoff cakiness mixed with soft cream.

Iced coffee flight

We came in specifically for their viral iced coffee flight and Dubai chocolate pancakes. Both were a let-down unfortunately :(. The iced coffee tasted like luke warm milkshakes - super strange. And the Dubai chocolate pancakes were surprisingly dry with a weird chocolate flavor. The ambiance in here is super modern and bright though, great for pictures. The staff was also very welcoming and friendly which added to the nice atmosphere here. They don't accept reservations and I had to park an 8 minute walk away which wasn't horrible, but not super convenient especially because it was col. It's just a tough area for parking. They did take us in pretty quickly though, so they get points for that. The truffle fries were the star of the show. Turkey bacon was surprisingly good as well. My friend liked her turkey BLT on a croissant. We also got chicken sliders which were pretty good, but I will say all the food took a while to come out. We ended up spending a few hours there. Overall the items that brought us in ended up being our least favorite. I might return and try other items like the flat dipped croissants or the crackling lattes so will update if my experience changes!

Jersey City is in need of more brunch spots like this! M by MOKAFE is a bright, airy, and spacious restaurant that's great for eating with family and friends. I noticed several families with strollers and young children, and was impressed with how comfortable the space was for everyone. The cafe is popular for their croissants and flat croissants, and the display out front is both beautiful and enticing. The food menu is also nice, which includes a variety of brunch dishes and coffees/drinks to choose from. I tried the vegetarian omelette and latte and thoroughly enjoyed both. Great brunch spot overall with not an overly long wait. Note that the bill here has an automatic 18% gratuity and parking in the area is limited.

I've been looking for a place like this in Jersey City, and finally one opened! I believe there are other locations but Jersey City seems to be the closest. This restaurant is Yemeni, the coffee is definitely a must try (fun fact; the word mocha comes from the Yemeni port city of Mokha). We went around lunch time, and we got avocado toast and grilled cheese with tomato soup. Both were really good. They definitely had some middle eastern flavors, despite being very non middle eastern foods. The bread was so delicious, and a good base for the ingredients. The grilled cheese--there was a lot of cheese and it was the type that pulls apart--amazing. We also tried the flat pistachio croissant. I've never heard of a flat croissant but it was interesting. It tasted like a croissant, and had a not too sweet pistachio sauce and crushed pistachios. I also ordered a pistachio latte, which was amazing. I can't wait to try the other latte flavors. Although a latte is mostly milk, the coffee flavor was delicious. They also have the famous Dubai chocolate bar, which we didn't try, but if anyone's looking for them (they look good). The restaurant was very clean, including the bathrooms. And the servers were really kind. They accommodated my 1 year old and even served him a special croissant with avocado sauce.

This is such a beautiful space. Bright and airy- perfect for brunch. We came in without a reservation for brunch. Luckily it was not too busy and we were seated immediately. The hostess and server were both excellent and kept checking up on us. I was really happy with the food. The portions are generous and everything tasted amazing. We got the following: 1. Shakshuka with turkey sausage- the shakshuka was really good. I will probably skip the sausage next time. I received two big sausage patties while I had something slightly different in mind. 2. Turkey bacon blt on a croissant- this was really delicious and it was served with a side of fries 3. French toast- extremely generous portion. I got the version with the lotus biscoff spread. It is insanely good. 4. Pistachio latte- I highly recommend it. It is a bit sweet but that's exactly how I like it so it was perfect for me Overall, it was a great brunch experience. We hope to return to try dinner.

This place is so nice. Love the decor and ambiance. We went for brunch on Sunday and it was a really nice experience. From the hostess to waitress everyone was really nice and friendly. We got a bunch of different things to try but the standouts for me were the chicken and waffles, the vegetable omelette and mushroom pizza! They were so good I was totally thinking about that food the next morning for breakfast. I want to come back and try their dinner menu for sure.

Chicken and Waffles

My cousin ordered The Sunny Side Up Burger with a side of Truffle Fries, which were delicious. I ordered the chicken and waffles, and they were okay. The waffles tasted a little doughy, and I like mine crispier. The sauce on the chicken was a little sweeter than I had expected. I ordered regular fries, and they were good. It's not pictured here, but I also ordered the biscoff tres leches cake, which was good. I ordered a mango refresher, and it was good. My cousin ordered the pineapple passionfruit refresher, but she didn't like it, so before she continued to drink more, she switched her original drink to the mango refresher. The host welcomed us, smiled, and escorted us to our table. The person who serviced us was patient and helpful when we wanted to switch my cousin's drink. The ambiance is nice. I noticed there were many families and friends there, the decor is nice. Parking was hard to find but we found a decent spot and walked less than 10 minutes. I would come back to try more dishes.

Happy to have another cafe option in the area! They make the best pistachio latte. Not too sweet. We stopped by today for an early brunch and tried the M egg sandwich. Very good and flavorful. Have tried a few pastries and the pistachio cookie. All good. I will say the pumpkin spice latte was WAY too sweet even tho I asked for light syrup but the made it again when we asked (hate doing that) and it was much better. The space is big and well decorated. Really hope they make it!!

Stuffed french toast

I came here to dine in not long after their soft opening. There are options to dine in, take away or sit at the bar stool areas more casually. The ambiance and aesthetic of this place is clean and trendy and that's probably where the positives stop. Service was very disappointing. Our service repeated 3 out of 4 of our coffee orders incorrectly. She wasn't very familiar with the menu and had to run to the kitchen to check a few times on whether we can add-on toast. It took 30~45 minutes for everyone to get their orders. Halfway through, we had to ask for water. When they came back, they seemed surprised that we wanted water to begin with and only brought over the glasses, so we had to flag them down for water again. They should really be offering water to all tables at the start. At some point they came by with 6 additional cups of coffee that we didn't order. We ended up getting charged for it and it took another 10-15 minutes to give us a refund. For the food, it was average and the portions were good. It wasn't bad but I also wouldn't go out of my way to come back. They should also update their menus to more accurately reflect their dishes. My stuffed french toast was supposed to come with berries but it came with melons and cantaloupe - they should put "seasonal fruit" or have the server at least mention the substitute if this wasn't a common occurrence. My friend ordered the chicken waffle sliders but it came deconstructed. I was told the pistachio latte was good. All in all, this place has potential to be a great spot but service needs a lot of work.

The oysters were incredibly fresh, clean, briny, and perfectly served. Another standout that I'll definitely be ordering again. Between the atmosphere, the consistency of the food (super yummy), and the thoughtful team, Conwell Hall is quickly becoming one of those places you keep coming back to.

The regular and matcha have both been good in my experience. I don't like chocolate cake, so I haven't tried that variety. I wish the pumpkin was available in the smaller size too! I've tried their boba, and it isn't good. The hot teas are okay but not great. They're pretty much just syrup and milk. I would avoid the drinks and just get the desserts! I haven't personally tried the bingsoo, but I've heard good things. The waffle is alright--all in all, come here to recharge and for the basque cheesecake!

If only I could see how it is made rather than just wrapped and packaged for me, with me assuming they just took a pre-packaged sandwich and heated it up. I really hope they do not do that. The taste of it tells me they do not, but I have to surmise. I also got a hot chocolate, which is super rich. It is not super hot, but if you are not careful you could have an accident on the sidewalk because of the milk they use. Drink it slow and steady. Or pace yourself between sips. Do not let the body recognize this is full of the things that make bowel movements happen. Thankfully, I held my ground. They also sell crullers. I love a good cruller. Choux pastry donuts full of rich flavor, without all the density of an actual donut. This one may be too rich. It is also quite expensive. Nearby Donut Pub does a better job with them. I had to be careful eating this. Being careful and knowing how much it cost to get a breakfast here are what keep it a three star review. However, their offerings will keep you out of the cold and give you strengths on days you need to be picked up.
