This place is a pure treat! First of all, you can't miss it if you are walking in Midtown...it was on the way to my hotel on 40th avenue and the green is so eye-catching. Wanted to just stop by really quickly to catch up with a couple of friends and overall, I am a little iffy about this place. The staff was very nice and very patient as my friends and I looked through all of the parties to see what we wanted to try and the interior of the store was very neat and cute with comfy seats. However, the desserts and pastries that we chose were just not it. The Pistachio Latte was overly sweet and ended up being tossed out before even half was finished. The rest of the drinks were all finished. The ube and biscoff cookies were just okay but we definitely regretted it once we took a bite. The banana pudding was extremely artificial tasting and I could barely taste the real banana flavor which just left a disappointing aftertaste. The Knafa brownie was something that I was looking the most forward to, however it wasn't warmed at all and was just a hard cold brownie with knafa and pistachio cream in the middle. You could barely even taste the pistachio. It was just like a mediocre brownie with some Knafa crunch. Overall I think if I were ever to be back, I would stuck to the basic drinks and that would be it. Place is spacious with lots of seating. I can't imagine you'd ever have trouble finding a table. My friend and I ordered pistachio lattes and they were very good! Large portion for an iced drink. Love that the cups are reusable plastic. We returned back later in the day to grab a refresher - sadly both were extremely sweet. I'd suggest cutting it with water. I really liked the strawberry mint one, if it had more water. My friend struggled to drink hers. It was packed with sugar. We also picked up strawberry Dubai cups and those were unreal! So yummy!!! For my coffee, I ordered the Kinder Bueno Latte with Nutella. So rich, creamy, and sweet. My friend and I shared the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich, Dubai Chocolate Croissant, and Mocha Tres Leches. The sandwich was tasty with boldly flavorful sauce, tasty chicken, fresh arugula and cheese. Dubai Chocolate Croissant was decadent, perfectly flaky, and bursting with Nutella, Knafeh, and pistachio. Such a delightful pairing! I wasn't a fan of the Mocha Tres Leches. The taste of Mocha didn't shine through. On the way out, I grabbed a huge Rice Crispy Treat topped with chocolate and gold specks. It was beautifully designed and cost around $5. The Rice Crispy Treat was satisfyingly chewy and sticky. The servers behind the counter were friendly and helpful. Mokafé has a total of 6 locations spread through NY and NJ. This one is located on 8th ave between 43rd and 44th. Mokafé got its name from an ancient trading port in Yemen, Mohka and a famous coffee based drink, mocha. I learned that it starts with Fika. Fika is a state of mind that embraces the process of slowing down in a fast paced environment and appreciating the unique notes and flavors in coffee and the company around you. I was worried items were going to be sold out so I had opted to order through DoorDash while I was on the train. I pre-ordered Knafa Pistachio Chocolate, Knafa Croissant, Pastrami & Cheddar, Avocado Toast, Mo Bear and Lavender Lemonade. I arrived a few minutes later than the pick-up time, luckily the barista hadn't had the chance to make my order so I was able to ask for it served in-house than to-go. I was most eager to try their Knafa Chocolate Bar famously known as Dubai Chocolate. Whatever you have heard about this delectable dessert, it's true! For the croissant, have it as is! If warmed up, although delicious, can be extremely messy! Be ready to lick those fingers!! The lavender lemonade is worth the try. I can't speak on the Pastrami & Cheddar because I wasn't the one who ate it. The Avocado Toast was well savored. The picked onions gave it a bit of sweetness. Sadly, they were sold out of the Mo Bears when I got there so I did not get to try that. The cafe has a total of 3ish seating floors with the main floor having comfy lounge chairs and counter tables by the entry point and more seating across the serving bar. There are also additional seating a couple steps down next to the code locked one-stall bathrooms with a ramp access. More seating can be found lower level and the loft up above. The loft even has a cozy fireplace. This is a nice place to hang out. Additional note: baristas do not like their photos captured. Please be kind and avoid their faces. read more

Don't know how I ever forgot to write a review for this place. Its a great cafe. I got my first Dubai chocolate from here. It was so good not to mention the Dubai strawberry covered in chocolate cup. I had a biscoff latte, delicious! The café is clean and welcoming. Very nicely decorated with some delicious pastries and treats. The staff is friendly and very good with how they prepare your hot drinks. The prices are decent but some items are pricey, I did enjoy everything I purchased. I was surprised to learn that this location doesn't yet have a Yelp page. When I asked the employees for the specific address, they didn't seem to know, so I'm guessing it's relatively new. Despite that, they've done a great job getting everything in order just before the holidays. That said, Mokafe is on the pricier side--a coffee and cookie could run you about $10 to $15. However, its convenient location in Times Square makes it an easy and accessible stop. For a first visit, I left impressed and will certainly return for more Pistachio Dubai cookies. The atmosphere around here is pretty chill towards destination, but so far everyone's both here. Came here around 10am on a weekday hoping to try the knafa croissant but it was unfortunately sold out by then. I got the pistachio croissant instead, which was delicious. They heated it up before serving. I also got the cutest chocolate knafa mobears. One was filled with the classic pistachio knafa and the other was filled with biscoff knafa. I preferred the pistachio filling, but both were definitely tasty! They have an upstairs and a downstairs level so there should be no issues finding seating. Interior was clean. I had high expectations for this since everyone on the internet acts as if the dubai chocolate is the best thing they've ever eaten and I was like, "Okay I'm ready for my mind to be blown." And so, when I bit into the dubai chocolate, I was like, "Wait. That's it?" The experience was so underwhelming. I thought this was going to be some life-changing dessert but this just tasted like a regular chocolate bar??? The pistachio flavor was barely even there and the chocolate was also super sweet. Uncomfortable and Disappointing Experience. I came in expecting a friendly neighborhood café, but the experience was anything but welcoming. The coffee being terrible was only the half of it. What really bothered me was how aggressively they pushed political opinions during my visit. Their "Free Palestine" rhetoric felt forced and out of place for a coffee shop, and some of the remarks I overheard came across as antisemitic. It created an uncomfortable and tense atmosphere when all I wanted was a quiet cup of coffee. I won't be returning. Businesses should focus on treating customers with respect, not making them feel targeted or unwelcome because of who they are. Do these people even realize how many Jews live in New York? Might be easy to pass by on the street, but once you're inside, wow, this place is prime real estate. There are four -- yes, FOUR -- different levels for seating, so even when it's busy there's tons of places to sit. Seems like the bottom level is a great work/study space while the other three are more social areas. First time I came here I tried the kinder latte with a knafa croissant. Both were amazing, but definitely not a combo I'll be doing again because they were both so rich. Second time I came I tried a tiramisu latte with a baklava croissant. Also smashing. There are so many things on the menu, I can't help but want to come back to try more. It's a bit on the expensive side, so that's my one downside. Lovely 3 floor cafe with a cozy ambience. If you're looking for a place to work or study, this spot might be worth a shot as it's spacious and pretty quiet even on the weekend. They also have wifi and outlets. In terms of drinks, I got some matcha and it was pretty good. In terms of food, they didn't have any gluten free options, which was a bummer. That being said, the only reason I didn't give this cafe a higher rating was because of the service. As I was ordering, the employee had difficulty hearing what I was saying. Instead of asking me nicely to repeat myself, the employee rolled her eyes at me and responded to me with a tone of frustration in her voice.
