Once again I had a positive experience visiting this location. Their menu is huge so it would take someone over 15 minutes to read it all but on the positive side you'll definitely find something you enjoy. This time I dined in and had a bacon cheeseburger deluxe. Burger was cooked as requested, fries were delicious as usual and even the bacon was cooked as requested (they asked me if I wanted them crispy and they were super crispy). Our waitress was friendly and attentive but the elderly lady who works at the front who's also the cashier could be a little more friendly. They have a small parking lot but there were no available parking spots though there's metered parking in front of the restaurant (make sure to feed the meter!). When we arrived on a weekday at 12pm the place was packed but by 1pm most people were gone, so apparently the busy hour is between 11am and 12pm. read more

---------- I came back and I got a burger. The one that was the "prime" and more expensive. It was super dry, like a hockey puck. I doubt it was prime cut meat. Also the Mac and cheese on top was also dry like it was sitting around for a while. And the bun was dry! It was such your average potato bun and it was toasted to a crisp. The flavor was good for the burger but a shame it was so dry and tough, The fries where very good though and cooked well. My husband got the Greek omelete like my friend did and loved it. We were a party of 4 coming in on a Sunday morning for brunch. It's my first time coming in, and as soon as I walked in the door, I felt the racial difference. A mix of white Americans and black folks, we were one of the few Asians here. I understand that it is a busy Sunday, but we weren't greeted by either the host or the server. After waiting for about 5 minutes, we were seated in a large table. Our server is really rude coming in with "oh, why are you guys seated in a large table when you're only a group of 4?" It was a 5 table top. My friend asked "what type of teas do you have?" had been met with "what type of tea do you want?" There was a lot of waiting for even the smallest items. We had to constantly flag down our disgruntled server for a refill of our water, to get our orders in, etc. it became ridiculous at this point. Food was slow coming in, when I spoke to the server- it was very rude comments or just "I know", constantly have to flag down our server while all other servers were accommodating to their tables. I usually don't eat breakfast, but today I felt I wanted to try something different so I went to this place and here's how it went ... Upon arrival there was a lady at the front by the register and I must say she's NOT very pleasant . I say good morning and she tells me to sit on the other side by the booths . Still NOT a very pleasant person for first thing in the morning. Once at my table this lovely waitress (a much older lady ) comes to greet me and take my order , what a difference , she should be the one greeting people . She takes my order and not even 10 minutes later I was served a very nice , freshly made and warm breakfast . The food was really good for a small town dinner , cooked to perfection and you could tell everything was made to order and it wasn't just sitting there pre cooked . Than I asked the waitress for the check and walk to the register to pay and just as when I went in the not so pleasant lady charged me and I left . Who sends coffee without cream and sugar. When I called to complain the waitress did not offer resolution. They couldn't sent someone with my creme and sugar. they ruined my breakfast and should rectify the situation. They offered no resolution .they should've sent me another coffee with the cream and sugar but no nothing. I will be disputing the charge since lighthouse doesn't want to rectify the issue. so i came tonight after a long days work, and just grabber chicken fingers and fries. so basic, asked for side sauce for the chicken fingers and cole slaw and pickle . the meal was alright. nothing great nothing to complain about .. its fingers and fries so you cant really screw it up . now I've been in the restaurant business for 25 years plus so when i go my check sand saw i was charged $3.50 for coleslaw and a pickle at a diner where it is included in almost every meal i question the man taking payments. Wait staff was perfectly fine. the Man taking the checks said " its not included and if you don't like it you can go some where else " with that said it did not take me long to realize that i would never spend $0.01 here ever again. In all my years of being in restaurants i have never seen any one speak to a customer like this... I am beyond insulted and have no issue never spending my money or sharing my poor experience with friends family and community that i just encountered. They're are plenty of other options around and if anyone wants a good meal and not to be insulted i highly suggest going anywhere but to this place. Stayed at an airbb close by and this was highly suggested by the owner of the airbb who's a local. I came in around 1045am but was wanting more of a lunch the waiter gave me both menus. Everything looked great, most people we're ordering breakfast. I went with the tuna sandwich which was really good and more on the savory side- it came with slaw and a pickle everything was perfect. My dad and I decided to stop by the Lighthouse Restaurant on a Sunday afternoon for a quick brunch! Ambiance: You definitely get "diner vibes" from this spot. It was a bit busy given that it's was a Sunday afternoon but we were seated within a minute. There's booth seats as well as regular tables towards the back. Looking at the restaurant from the outside you would think it's small but it's pretty big. Food: The menu is endless! If you want a bit of everything definitely come to this spot. I decided to order the 2 stack of pancakes along with the farmers omelet which came with home fries and toast. The food came out within 15-20 minutes and boy was it good! Price: Farmers omelet was $10 and a short stack was $5.50. It was enough food to fill me up and take some home. Parking: They have a small lot at the back of the restaurant but when it's busy it looks like it is a pain to get out of. To avoid that I just parked on the street. Service: Our waiter was great! Attentive, always came by to refill our coffee and make sure we were okay. The reason why I gave this spot 3 stars is because upon walking in, we were not greeted by the lady at the cash register. Also, when leaving and paying as well. Bayonne is full of small/local businesses and being a small/local business you should show your customers you care. FOOD POISONING! We ordered breakfast for delivery. Pancakes come with syrup and butter in the small cups that the restaurant prepares themself. The butter was sour, unfortunately I put the butter over the whole pancake and did not notice until I had already eaten a couple of bites. It was hard to tell at first because I had put syrup but when I tasted a tiny bit of butter by itself and it was very sour. Lighthouse diner is really good. I don't think the 3.5 star rating this place has is deserved. Trust me, the overall rating of this diner should be 4.5. Most of the meals I've had here are great, including the chicken francaise, soups, triple deckers, moussaka, burgers, etc. the only meals I didn't like were the Reuben and the chicken cordon bleu. Rarely will they blow you away with what they have on the menu but I will praise the consistent level of service and quality that the Lighthouse brings to the table. Daily specials include rotating soups as well as different Italian and Greek/Mediterranean options. My go to at this establishment is either the roast beef or the French Dip(which are alarming similar I get it). The roast Beef has always been fresh and rarely if ever too dry. The same type of beef will be going in the French dip(pictured with this review) however the bread is lightly toasted and buttered with garlic to give it another level of flavor. The fries come plentiful but are average at best and the au jus comes in a big enough serving to gravy up every bite. Loses a star based on the weird delivery hours. We were told we can sit anywhere, that's fine no complaints, then we're handed the menu by a gray short haired woman who hands us all our menus in just a pile plopped onto the table. Not handed out, but just tossed on there. We get no less than 30 seconds to even grab the menus, to then be asked what we want to drink as if we've been there before. Then In the ten seconds it took us all to open to the drinks, she threw her hands up and said, "Whatever I guess, I'll wait." We just opened the menus. Needless to say our party of 5 left after that and went looking for a new restaurant.
