I really wish I would have read all the negative reviews before coming here. Let me start off with that the ladies who work here were absolutely kind and attentive. As for the tailor, not so much. I recently picked up my wedding dress from a bridal shop down the street who had referred me to this seamstress for minor alterations to my dress. I had a custom back done on my wedding dress and they took all my measurements to send to Madison James, my dress designer. When I did my try-on at the bridal shop, everything was wonderful. I cried I was so happy. All I needed was my straps shortened slightly to help with minor gapping on the back under my armpit area, and a bustle button. That's how well my dress fit me as I had ordered it 4 inches shorter so no hemming needed as my cowboy boots were the perfect height. Fast forward an hour later as I go to the place of recommendation. I came out of the fitting room and was instantly insulted by the tailor. "This dress is a MESS!" Wow, okay. Then he starts pinning the shoulder straps up. He yanked so hard that the dress was now digging into my armpit and the bust area of my dress was now sitting on my collar bones. My was speechless seeing myself in the mirror as he pinned me. Then he proceeds to tell me that due to the gapping in the back, which was now MORE because of how high he yanked my straps up, he will have to take all the lace apart and rebuild the back to make it not gap. I'm sorry, I just paid for a custom back which the designer had all my measurements and this man wanted to rip my entire dress apart. THEN he works his way down to my train. I knew I needed a bustle button. My train is not very long, and the underlining trailed down under the lace to give that gorgeous look for photos. He wanted to CUT OFF THE ENTIRE UNDERLINING TRAIN! "This all has to go. This is a mess. I have to completely redesign this dress." I declined and said that the dress was obviously designed this way. He insisted he does this every day and this is not how the dress should be. As I mentioned above, I had ordered my dress 4 inches shorter from Madison James, and the dress with my shoes on fitted perfect. No hemming needed. He looked at the front and said "It's a bit long but if you want it like this then fine." The fact he wanted to shortened my dress even more was shocking to me. So I could look like a witch walking down the aisle with my boots exposed? WHAT?! I was in complete shock at his rudeness. I also would need to have 4-5 fitting sessions. WHAT THE. Let's get to the estimate. $850 for shoulder straps to be shortened, three bustle buttons, cutting off the train, and cutting of the back to "redesign." I am sorry but talk about a rip off and someone who I truly believes has no business in altering wedding dresses. I left with my "mess of a dress" and found a local seamstress in Santa Clarita. She is shortening my straps, adding bust cups (INSTANTLY FIXED THE LITTLE GAP) and two bustle buttons, one for my lining and one for the lace train. $100. That's more like it. I am saddened that the bridal shop I went to who was SO amazing and so attentive would recommend this tailor. I am not sure they are aware of how he has treated past brides as it seems all his negative reviews are with brides. He was completely rude and abrasive, rough in handling my dress, insanely expensive, and I truly believed he would have destroyed my beautiful wedding dress that I love so much. To any bride considering this place, I would highly recommend you save yourself and your dress that you fell in love with and not take it to this shop. Do not let this man bully you into thinking your dress is a mess and that he needs to completely redesign your gown. Seek another seamstress. read more

I had gone to two other ladies prior to going to VIP and they all told me they could not fix my dress without changing the style. I came here to get the lining of my leather jacket replaced and a beaded evening dress hemmed. This staff is incredibly friendly and the do outstanding work. I knew my beaded dress would be a painstaking process to hem since the beads are intricately held on by string on mesh. But they had no problem excepting the long challenge and the results were beautiful. My leather jacket is now refreshed and comfortable to wear. Alberto and his wife were amaaaaazing today! They did a very last minute and unexpected alteration for my daughter's Jr. Brides maid dress for a wedding this weekend. I brought my wedding dress to be altered here and came across several problems that left the dress so underwhelming and disappointing. In addition to spending a ridiculous amount! So expensive, the work was almost as much as my dress! I'm devastated they did not take the upmost care with a dress that clearly means so much. The bustle was horrible. Brought up way too high. The hem was awful and too high. Have they never seen how a wedding dress is supposed to be?? You'd think you'd do little work at a time to ensure it's perfect. I wore my wedding shoe to every appointment there is no excuse to this. The dress was originally a flutter sleeve and we discussed have it tacked flatly around my shoulder yet I found they CUT IT off completely and turned into a tank sleeve? (Side note: I called several months in advance to provide my wedding date and THEY chose the date for me to first come in, yet when I arrived I was given attitude for the wedding being so close?? ) On top of this, at my "final" appointment one strap was clearly longer than the other?? A week before the wedding! A lady said she'd fix it in two days. I came back to find SHE DIDN'T EVEN FIX IT. So I had to sit there and wait for her do it right then and there. Now that I'm seeing photos of the dress during the wedding I'm heartbroken I chose this place and feel robbed with how much money I spent. Took a few dresses to be shortened and it took them THREE weeks to do so. When I got them home, I tried them on and I unfortunately need to have them hemmed again, as they are far too long (despite me taking my shoes to the appointment for them to get the proper measurements). I need the ASAP, so I will need to go elsewhere to get it done properly and in a timely manner, I cannot be waiting that long to get my items back (summer will be over). I couldn't be happier with VIP Alterations. We needed a tailor - fast- to alter two pairs of my son's absolutely ginormous high school basketball uniform shorts. Absolutely unwearable at the size he was accidentally given. We were not allowed to have even one aspect of the design or school logo changed. (We barely got permission from the coach to alter them at all, so keeping the design intact was very important.) I was nervous to pick them up just now, but they are PERFECT. And the people there are very sweet. Two pairs of shorts custom altered shorts isn't cheap - but we went to three places- one said it couldn't be done at all, the other was $20 more expensive than VIP.
