Honest customer feedback--positive or negative--should be visible so others can make informed decisions. A five-star rating only means something when it reflects real customer experiences. Wow ! Am I furious or what?…read more So I took a few items to the closet trading company branch in Westlake village for resell. One of them was a new 400$ red leather coat . Some items sold but the pricey leather coat didn't. I kept checking weekly to see the status. Suddenly yesterday the item disappeared off their site and my account. I called today and that's when I was taken aback. According to the sales lady they keep it for three months and then if you don't ask for it in writing at least a week before the three months expire then the item is literally theirs to keep. They don't even send you an e mail or text reminder . Just poof - gone! apparently they put it in small letters as part of their contract when you first consign but never actually tell these details to you in person. This is theft in broad daylight guys ! #closettradingcompany

So many things to choose from which I've scored some nice pieces. Clothing, shoes, handbags, jewelry, accessories and so on. And everything was in place. Fast forward to today. Walking in, it was very overwhelming. Felt like things were a mess right when you walked in. At the front where the handbags sections were, things just hanging here and there. The selections and designers items seemed to have gone down. Didn't really see much as they used to have. There were a few higher end accessories, sunglasses but almost the same price as retail. The clothing sections as well was kind of everything together. Even though they had things sectioned off, it was like rumbling through the racks at Ross. Shoe department was a miss. There wasn't much of anything worth trying or even looking at. There was one or two pairs of shoes that was debatable for gifts but passed on it. It could just be me but the quality has seemed to gone down from prior years. It's not that nice luxury store for a steal of a deal anymore. Just feels like walking into Ross or Marshall's with the same things.

Lately, the construction has taken away from the experience a bit, but I am hopeful that once it is finished, things will be even better. I just hope the updates are thoughtful and not simply focused on adding more retail, especially in place of something like the movie theater. It would be great to see additions that truly serve and reflect the community. For example, a fountain with a water show, similar to what you see at the Grove or Americana, would be a strong starting point. People and families already feel overwhelmed by the number of shops, and adding more does not necessarily improve the experience. Take Century City Mall as an example. After its remodel (many years ago) added many more stores, I personally stopped going. As someone who works in marketing, I know the first priority is getting people to visit. If visitors lose interest, as I did with Century City, then adding more shops defeats the purpose. I really hope they do not lose sight of what makes the place special. It would be a shame if short-term decisions ended up hurting the atmosphere that people enjoy.
