I had such an amazing experience at this Nordstrom location. I ordered a beautiful pair of St. John's pants online, but unfortunately they were too big. I came into the store hoping they could order me a smaller size, but it wasn't available. Sharen stepped in to help and brought out the seamstress, Zohreh, and I'm so glad she did. These were expensive pants (around $1k), so I really wanted them to fit perfectly. I really did not want to return them. Zohreh was incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and such a pleasure to be around. I mentioned I had a special event coming up, and she reassured me she could have the alterations done in time. I've been to several other Nordstrom locations before, but this one was by far the most pleasant experience I've had. Everyone was so warm, helpful, and accommodating, and the whole experience was just wonderful. I'm so glad I didn't have to return the pants. Better personnel. Personnel that do not stand around and talk to other employees about boyfriends that do not do their job! I love Nordstrom! Their store is immaculate, beautiful, and very stylish. They have very. Ratify clothes. My daughter and I went here and not one person asked if they could help us! Each group had 3 people standing around talking to each other but not helping anyone. We were looking at jewelry and two women were blocking the case. They were talking to their friend at the counter and resting their packages from other stores. They did not move so we never did get to look in the case. I love Nordstrom but I'll never come back here to be ignored. It was not one area but all the employees in the store. Roughly around 2:30pm December 7th, I walked in from the West Bridge Entrance 2nd floor with my return items. I went to the first register to my left. Two young women were standing there doing literally nothing and I kindly asked them if I can make a return there, she said no you must go to the order pick up to make returns. After ten minutes of standing in the order pick up line the lady said returns can be done at any register, but she was so so kind and took me to an empty register to help me with my return and apologized for those ladies actions. Is Nordstrom in decline, or is it just the Oaks location? It's truly disheartening to see. As a long-time customer, I can honestly say that shopping at Nordstrom used to be a special time for my daughters and me---something we looked forward to. It was reminiscent of the kind of experience and service my own mom used to talk about, with elegant displays and an impeccable ambiance and service to match! I even remember when your purchases were brought out to you from behind the counter. Not so much anymore. In fact, "Who wants to go to Nordstrom''s" doesn't get the response in my house as it used to. The fact is, we have never had that great experience at the Oaks that we grew accustomed to as Nordstom customers. We moved to the area almost two years ago, and have given this location multiple chances, hoping each time that maybe it was just an off day. But the problems are chronic and seem to be getting worse. The women's department, in particular, feels more like a Nordstrom Rack than a full-line Nordstrom. Clothes are jammed together in clumps on racks, many falling off hangers or tangled together, with sizes often out of order. On one visit, I even saw a tall, dark-haired employee step over an item of clothing that had fallen on the floor without picking it up, She just kept walking. The department was nearly empty, so it's not like they were too busy. In fact, I have seldom seen more than a few other shoppers in the department when I'm there, but there are plenty of employees mingling or walking around as if waiting to be hailed like a taxi. LOL. The fitting rooms, once a luxurious and welcoming part of the experience, often feel neglected and sometimes even dirty. Does anyone remember when they had chairs? The oaks has little boxes like you might see in a discount store. Each of my daughters has had her own story of disbelief about things that should never happen in a store like Nordstrom. I don't want to get started on the service at pick-up area! It's sad that what used to be a fun shopping ritual for us has become something we now joke about. I don't know if this is just a reflection of this particular store, or if Nordstrom overall has lost what once made it feel so special. Either way, it's a real disappointment and time to find a new shopping experience for me to share with my girls. read more

I have visited this Nordstrom store countless times in the recent months as it is my local Nordstrom. Today I brought in a return of 8 items and stood at the counter for minutes while two women just walked by me, took go backs and helped people into the fitting room right next to the register. I was completely ignored. I finally asked the girl if there was someone who could help me with a return? She quietly said "oh... sure. Are you returning ALL OF THAT?" No madeline, I just like to bring clothes with me when I go to the mall she was rude, did not speak to me the entire transaction and then opened fitting rooms for two people while helping me without saying anything o me, but just walking away. I then asked if the receipt showed 8 items, she said no 7. I said well there are eight things. She then had to re enter all my info, find it in my app and scan the item she missed. If I wasn't doing her job for her, I wouldn't have been helped. By far the worst experience I've had at this Nordstrom. If you want to be treated like you're at a discount store, shop here. Otherwise stick to online or Topanga. Madeline and her co worker in the yellow shirt who couldn't be bothered to be helpful, what a shame that you care so little about your job to be pleasant to others. read more

I'm specifically reviewing the shoe department. My daughter, who is 15, had to attend an event that required her to wear heeled shoes (specifically in white or nude color). We visited a few other stores including Macys in the same mall and didn't find anything that could work. I think the biggest difference between Nordstrom versus other stores is the service. Once we connected with our sales associate( Leanne), she made everything super easy...she asked my daughter what she was looking for and the requirements for these shoes; the biggest being " comfort and not too high heeled" according to my daughter. The associate provided many options and I felt like she listed to my daughter and ultimately was very attentive and empathetic. One forgets what good service feels like until you get it! My daughter proclaimed she never wants to go to another shoe store! Lol! The only down side, while they don't have the most famous designer brands...it's not a discount shoe store. You get what you pay for and the comfort my daughter had with the entire experience was worth the price at least for me. We went to a total of 5 other stores...I'm sure you can imagine the time wasted and frustration. I have to lookout for the next time my daughter needs shoes...cause I know we'll be back to Nordstrom and it's going to cost me! Lol read more

He was very nice and gentle with my skin. He really took his time. I've always used 2.0 Buff but he switched me over to 1.3 Nude Ivory and I couldn't be happier. I traveled from Santa Barbara since our Nordstrom closed many years ago. I know they carry a certain brand so I went in and checked. As I walked into the men's section (Ice cream section) I felt a heavy stare and I didn't think anything of it until I still felt the feeling so I turned and sure enough it was an employee staring me down. Once again I didn't think anything of it. I kept browsing through the shirts and my girlfriend came by with a big Zara bag and that's when the employee approached us. He started off with ...Lost sir ?with a faint laugh....want me to hold those for you ? Or put that up at the register? Or I can get you a fitting room? I said no to all of those and he said ARE YOU SURE ( almost as if he wanted to make sure i wasn't stealing) I kept looking around But this time I felt stereotyped! So I told my girlfriend hey let's just keep looking around. I got to a spot where we couldn't see each other and sure enough there he was following us!? And I said nope I refuse to buy these shirts. Personally I think working in customer care you have to watch your tone of voice and think twice about how you make the customer feel. I have never met a rude person at any Nordstroms. In fact, I had a associate who would text me regularly with info from your Santa Monica location; the brand has always been above and beyond. Today, at the TO location, Sylvia in women's, was the rudest person I've ever met. One thing after another she insulted me, tried to find every reason not to assist me and told me wrong information several times. Had another excellent experience yesterday in both the shoe dept and cosmetics . Exceptional customer /sales relationships keeps me coming back . I met Erika she's the Manager of the perfume/scent dept , she's terrific! Very knowledgeable about the brands, scent notes , products she's offering promotions . Super easy to talk to and we found out we are neighbors . Nice ! In the shoe dept I don't remember the young man's name but he was terrific, said it was his second week. Very personable had a lot of nice things to say about his coworkers and even one jumped into help at the register . One of the easiest shopping experiences of late, and was mostly Christmas shopping for others . I went to the Diptyque fragrance counter to purchase a candle and the sales associate was more interested in a conversation happening with an employee from a different department. I asked her if she wanted to go over there and take care of something since she looked very absent from anything I was asking. This is my nearby Nordy's, and I really like it! Sooo much better than the Nordstrom on Topanga (which is a total disappointment). I get fantastic service at the Arcona counter here! And my teen daughter loves BP, which waxes nostalgic for me since I shopped there when I was a teen. The shoe section isn't great, but it's okay since I shop at Nordstrom Rack for shoes usually. Clothes, swim, etc are all laid out well and not falling off racks/overstocked like some other dept stores. We also enjoy Ebar for quick coffee/ tea and a snack. Have yet to try the new restaurant. They have a good amount of promos and events and the store has a good ambiance about it, definitely recommend this location! read more

I can only speak to the men's wear department. But if you need high-touch service, Nordstrom is your place. I lived in suits for decades. Decades ago. Now I'm older, bigger, and dress casual all the time. I've said "No" to countless invitations to events I would be required to wear a suit to. Flash forward to this week, when I got invited to an event I can not say No to. I tried Men's Wearhouse and yuck, their suits felt like sandpaper and were ill-fitting. Macy's didn't have anything that fit me. The sales people from both told me to go to Nordstrom. Thank you. I was waited on by Jonathan, who asked me about the event, took my measurements (size 50L jacket - so they have an abundance of sizes) and soon had 3 suits for me to try on. I went with a black Hickey Freeman suit. The seamstress made careful markings while I tried the suit on, and made expert alterations. The suit looks and fits great. And the service was great and made a chore a pleasure! read more

Alteration review. I used to do alteration at this Nordstrom store and it was done very well with high quality. About ten days ago I went there because I needed to shorten jeans and shorten the sleeves on Ralphs Lauren shirts which I purchased on line. I had $200 of alteration dollars on my Nordstrom card and wanted to use it. They said that I can use it only for the garments that I bought at the store and charged me $125.00 for that. I agreed to pay, thinking that at least the quality will be good. Yesterday I went to pick up my things and was very extremely upset. Any dry clean alteration would do a better job!! Very sloppy, uneven, inaccurately done. STAY AWAY FROM NORDSTROM ALTERATION!!! They should hire somebody more professional. read more

Went to this Nordstrom to do some last minute Christmas shopping.....OMG! What happened!!! Why would you schedule a remodeling during the holidays! The departments were depleted of inventory. All I was doing was walking around the store pushing my baby in a stroller and holding items while my wife continues shopping. My brother got a jacket from Nordstrom Rack and needed to have it altered, so we chose to take it to Nordstrom. Lana from alterations was amazing and made the process very quick and easy. Where did the customer service go? I shop in the Thousand Oaks store often and I have to hunt down an associate to get some help and I usually find them hanging out at the cash register. In addition, the merchadise assortment is terrible. The merchandise and the way it is presented is starting to look like its lack luster competitors. This store is loosing its Nordstrom touch.
