Potato Bravas
Rachel R.

Celiac Friendly! Almost the entire menu is Gluten Free. Have been here twice, once for the soft opening and recently for drinks. Our table tried several items, the beet salad, potato Bravas and charcuterie board were some of the stars along with the Brussel sprouts. I had a mocktail and have some allergy concerns and the bartenders made sure to double check everything for me. Friends had an espresso martini which they said was one of the best around. Looking forward to trying some new things next visit.

As soon as you walk in, you can feel that polished, higher end atmosphere, and the canal views make for a really nice setting. I went during the off season in early March and caught their Wednesday night Steak and Cake special. For $36 you get a six ounce filet mignon, a crab cake, mashed potatoes, green beans, and a Caesar salad. For a restaurant of this caliber, that's a pretty solid deal. The Caesar salad came out fresh and crisp, and for the first time ever I noticed something you rarely see anymore -- two small sardine strips on top, which is actually the traditional way to serve a true Caesar. The entree was nicely plated. The filet was ordered medium. Parts of it were cooked perfectly and very tender, though a couple bites were a little chewy. The crab cake was the highlight. Very meaty with minimal filler, which is exactly what you want this close to the Delaware coast. Mashed potatoes had that homemade style with a few lumps. Some people love that rustic feel, though I personally prefer them a little smoother. The green beans were simply steamed but had great flavor. Service was excellent. My waitress Kim was friendly, attentive, and very accommodating. The restaurant itself was clean and well kept, including the restrooms. Overall, a very enjoyable meal with great flavor across the board. I'd definitely come back and would be curious to see what the atmosphere is like here during the busy summer season.

Their Thursday night steak special is great. An 8oz of filet mignon and a 10$ credit towards a glass of wine for $35. The cheeseboard is also really good. It comes with honey and fig jam, nuts, pickled vegetables, and some other things. It's nice to nibble on while having drinks before the entrees. The desserts are lovely too. Our favourites are the lemon cake and whatever cobbler they have. Just scrumptious.

Service was extremely slow, ( we ate early and the place wasn't that busy). We ordered cocktails and then we find out (one at a time), they couldn't make mine (I'm not really sure why), then the other cocktail from there cocktail list -they ran out of ingredients....like really?? My appetizer was ok, was hoping for it to be a little better (the shrimp & polenta). We also had olives and the baked Brie. Entrees 2 pork chops, mine was a little thinner than our guest. He really enjoyed it; I did as well as I got closer to the bone it was better. The first couple of bites seemed to be dry. We also had the lamb shank and a burger to go with our Black Stallion Cabernet. We will be back again supporting local independent restaurants. I do wish they had 1/2 stars, I would then give it 3.5.

We sat inside since it was just too hot for a few of us, but interior is cute as well. Kids got nachos a chicken, finger, kids meal and mahi tacos. Not one complaint!! We also ordered a shrimp Poboy, fried shrimp, and the dynamite shrimp bowl. The dynamite shrimp bowl was mine and was delicious, it was also more than enough food. I ended up boxing some and eating the next day, def will return. I gave 4 stars cause waiting for check, and to go boxes (which were forgotten) took a bit too long and our meters were getting closer to expiring by the time all was said and done.

My friend asked for a bigger table and they weee nice enough to give it to us despite being busy on a Saturday night. My friend also was concerned about the lamb being too gamey but wanted to give it a try. He was a big fan. I got to try a piece of his and it was good too. I went with the Denver steak- I never had this portion of meat before and I see why it is advertised as a separate item now. It is likely this was randomly packaged before or the cattlers kept it for themselves and just sold the masses everything else. Japan has been known to sell this meat portion decades? Ago known as 'zabuton' apparently. It isn't really a new "invention" per se, but apparently a meat association helped with the marketing and accessibility of this meat to make it what it is today. It appears many places do not offer this but a handful of places do offer this. The doors are nice and the signs don't strike me as stand out but they are nice easy to read aigns. The decor inside creates a beautiful ambiance of the classy restaurant that represents the food they served. The asparagus, carrots, Kennett mushrooms, were cooked well. The lamb was tender and juicy. My Denver was tender, juicy, and flavorful in a way that you don't need to add sauce and it might even be a faux pas to do so. I suggest medium or medium rare. I got mine medium well but for this kind of meat. I think medium rare is probably best. The key lime is 3 layers which is a cake and then key lime layer times 3 layers. My friend said it was a bit dry but we both thought it was good and all desserts are made in-house. My friend thinks a lot of butter is used in a lot of places to make the food taste truly good and I believe that. I don't really think about these things and just try to eat and appreciate what is in front of me, but it certainly is good to be mindful of these kind of ingredients used as well. The alcohol was fine. My friend's drink was not too sweet and my espresso cocktail had a good balance of flavor and booze. I asked for a shrimp add on and maybe the waitress didn't hear me but I didn't get that. However I also wasn't charged for it and by the meal's end when I realized this, I did not want this add-on. The bathroom apparently could've used some cleaning.

Started my visit with a Maker's peach crush cocktail, which consisted of Maker's bourbon, triple sec, peach puree and sprite. Completely refreshing. Dined on the sweet dreams wood fire pizza, a ny style thin crust, (mmmm), topped with only cheeses, mozzarella pecorino, fontina, Parmesan, sharp provolone, ricotta, fresh garlic and thyme. One of the best white pizzas I ever had. Wood fire makes for a deliciously crispy crust. This delicious pizza was enjoyed with a flight of local lagers, and pilsners.
