If I could give this place 0 I would. No way it's near 5 with the front office staff they have working here. Came here for our reservation at 2:30 and was told by some guy named Jay in the most condescending way that he has us down for 4:30. After showing him the emailed reservation for 2:30 he then tells us the van we reserved isn't back yet from the earlier renter. What kind of place are they running?? Just tell us that first, we're not dumb. Felt like we're being scammed of our time and like we were trying to be played like a fool by this guy. He had the worst attitude. You're better off just going to an actual u-haul location instead of this joke of a business with the worst customer service I've seen in Seattle. read more

Back to 1 star! Have been renting here for at least 15 years and the experience is directly related to who is managing. I've been through a few management overhauls but this time it has gone back to BAD! The person/people who were in charge when I changed my review the first time (from bad to good) are no longer there and the service and experience are dreadful once again! I use this space for work and currently rent 2 units. In addition to the policy change of me not being able to use the recycling..(which is a HUGE inconvenience).. now I'm being told I have to pay for them to receive my shipments. Not only that but when I complained about seeing rodent droppings inside one of my units. The manager just shrugged his shoulders and said that they would lay down more traps. Some of the units are really old and janky and there is a dirty dust that settles on my stuff ..they don't keep this place clean and there is definitely a prevailing funky smell that invades this facility frequently. All of the above I've only put up with because of the hassle of moving but now that they are trying to straddle me with more fees and less convenience, less accommodation, subpar, dirty rodent infested units and total attitude... I'm OUT!!! If I were you, I'd reconsider renting here! read more

I used Vine St. this month when I moved back to Seattle, and needed somewhere to ship my stuff while I was on vacation in between jobs. Todd made special arrangements for a $100 fee to accept and photograph all of my packages as they came in. Specific things I appreciated from Vine St. and Todd: * All of my belongings were indeed promptly photographed as they were coming in. He kept me informed on whether any packages were damaged in transit. * Made my visits go really efficiently - showed me around the facility (even on the 2nd time), pointed out the best place to park for my unit, etc. * Super-crazy fast and helpful e-mail responses. You know what's exciting? Getting your very own storage space!! Honestly, if you've never gotten a storage space, and stuck all your worldly belongings in it, I can't recommend it enough. Especially, if the reason you are packing everything up is because you are going on a round the world trip for several months! So, if you are looking to box up all your worldly goods, and hit the road, might I suggest you get a storage space at Vine Street Storage? At first I thought they were a bit on the expensive side, but after you deduct the free second month and the 10% off you get if you pay for six or more months in advance, its pretty darned reasonable for a downtown storage facility. Plus, while the place is a remodeled old warehouse space, the actually storage facility is only about a year and a half old and newly remodelled; so its got both the character of an old warehouse while also still feeling clean and new... and that's what you need in a good storage space: Ambiance!! Plus, they have a private garage you can pull your car or van into (so you aren't unloading in the rain), push carts to roll your boxes around on (fun!), secure elevators and touch-pads!! I tell ya, nothing says "security" like typing your personal secret code into a shiny new electronic touch-pad... complete with a satisfying "beep" and a light that flashes green. I chose this storage facility because of three factors: location, price and overall convenience. Upon moving in, they were extremely helpful in accommodating suggestions to maneuver a moving truck through Downtown Seattle. I was new to the city so they provided clear, concise answers to my questions. The facilities are clean and highly monitored. I felt as though my belongings were safe and secure. They ran a special promotion where my second month of rent was free, and of course that was an added perk. Todd and Mystina who ran the storage facilities were extremely friendly and easy to work with. I love this place! The people are very friendly. I was set up with a space the same day I went in. I was only a customer for about 2 weeks because my boyfriend and I broke up so I no longer needed the storage. I was bummed out that I already prepaid for the following month and I thought I could possibly kiss my money good bye. I called and asked if I may be able to get a refund and the person that picked up the phone made it very easy for me. I won't be getting a full refund because there is a 1 month minium but it's better than nothing! Today's Christmas Eve and I get off work at 2pm which is also their closing time today. Since I can't make it down there, he took my combo and he's removing the lock for me! I won't even have to go in! It has been a stressful time and I'm extra grateful Vine Street Storage made it so easy for me to close my account with them. Previous to beginning my redbull and rockstar fueled endurance-powerdrive up here, I shopped around for storage over the phone. The people at the end of this phone were pleasant and were completely into handholding me through the crazy process of selecting storage from thousands of miles away. Whenever I was speaking to someone I would think: "What's with these people? They seem so happy. Are they on drugs? Oh wait. They're happy because they live in Seattle. That's why I'm moving there. I remember now." The facility is brand new and clean. Plenty of security and automation. They give you your own access code that unlocks the external door and disarms the alarm on your storage door so that you can access your facility whenever you want without the hassles of many storage places. I am sad to say that I have had to use a few of them over the years with considerably less pleasure than my experience with Vine Street. read more

So I decided to pack up all of my worldly things and move cross country to attend a school in Seattle. And as such sight unseen I reduced my self to the minimum of things that I thought I could part with and moved. When I arrived I discovered that I could fit all of my things into my dorm room. But when my roomate also moved his things in.... things were a bit snug. So I started looking for a solution. Do I move out all together? Do I rent an office somewhere and basically only come home to eat and sleep? Do I get a storage unit? Fairly quickly crossed the first 2 questions off the list as they were either cost prohibitive or too far away. Started looking into storage... I am a person who runs on a 24 hour day. I am frequently having to do things when most normal people... well aren't. Enter Vine St Storage. With excellent security, and access daily run by computer from 5AM to 11PM, it was the perfect solution. It was close to where I live and not too much of a walk from school either so it is the perfect place. I have downgraded the size of my space once... and could probably do so again but I almost use it as a second living space... and am there almost daily. They almost always have space available and have a waiting list for smaller spaces... so you can move in now and move within the building later. Staff has always been very helpful in dealing with all of my questions. All in all a wonderful place that I really can't see moving from any time soon unless I move cross country or something such as that. read more

The company I work for has been using this outstanding climate controlled storage facility for more than 5 years. With 24/7 access, I've found it to be safe to access, even late at night. There are 2 indoor loading bays that really help on rainy days. If those are full there is usually a place to park outside while you retrieve your items. The onsite manager Todd is super helpful and provides excellent customer service. If you need storage solutions downtown, this location can't be beat! read more

Had a unit here for about 4 years. About $150 a month for ~75 ft^2 space. Location is pretty good if you are downtown. After-hours access is really nice. Building is old and quirky but dry and safe. The loading garage has only 2 spaces, but is really nice when it is raining. They even have restrooms, which was an unexpected perk. Service was efficient and hands-off. Two caveats: 1) Rent goes up steadily every year with little to no notice, per the contract. Just be aware when selecting your payment accout. 2) If your credit card on file expires or changes, they will make very little effort to contact you via means other than snail mail or phone calls. No emails. If for some reason you can't be contacted, they will take the contents of your unit and sell them to strangers or destroy them. Be VERY careful to update them if your card's expiry changes and you spend a lot of time out of town. In my case, I wasn't getting mail for just over a month and I almost lost tens of thousands of dollars worth of stuff, not to mention invaluable, irreplaceable personal items like photos because of a few hundred bucks. Had I contacted them even a few days later after noticing they weren't charging my card, it would have all been gone. This was the scare of a lifetime. read more

I just moved into the Vine Street unit a month ago but so far everything has been terrific. The Manager Todd is a friendly guy who offered me one free month for being a new customer. On top of that he gave me another discount for paying in advance until the end of the year. All this coupled with another discount for referring my brother to move in there too, which he did. My brother and I shared a unit at the Public Storage on Alaska Way until about a month and a half ago when it was broken into and many valuable things stolen. Fortunately the police were able to catch the duo who were responsible for what I now know was a long line of recent storage unit break-ins. We will get our things back but all thanks to the police and none to Public Storage management who treated us the same way a defense lawyer would treat the victims of crimes perpetrated by his client. No help, no sympathy, no advice, only unanswered calls and questions. I will NEVER rent at Public Storage again and urge all you not to do so also.. (sorry...rant over) But anyway, back to Vine Street, my brother and I both got our own units which were nearly the same size as the one that we just left but at a considerably lower price. The security is much better here and the place is clean. I saw some other reviewers mention a bad smell but since I've been there I've never noticed any bad smells. Vine Street stays open longer than most other storage facilities and is easy to get to from Belltown where I live. Good management, safe, clean units and at a good price. What's not to like? I've had a unit there for about 6 months. The units have metal walls, the building access hours are excellent. The staff has been friendly and helpful. I was new to Seattle when I first started renting there and they offered me advice on getting a monthly bus pass which has more than paid for my unit, seriously. Access has always been adequate. Vine Street Storage meet my needs for a place to keep my belongings for the two months I needed a place while in transition. There are two issues I had with this place. The number one issue is that I was clear I was only renting the unit for two months and I paid up front for the time. When I moved out and called letting them know I was out, they charged me an additional 7 days rental. It makes no sense to make arrangements up front with them. I asked to speak with a manager and the person on the phone would not forward me on to one. The second issue is with the smell. The place smells like something died inside. It was unpleasant to enter the building the several times I did during move-in and move-out. read more

Its an older building so there are some hallways that have some unlevel transitions and zig zags but plenty of space for me and my two Casa Latina guys to move all my stuff. Vine Street Storage Provided just what I needed when I recently found myself in need of some short-term storage space. Todd was extremely helpful in identifying an appropriate sized unit for my items, making arrangements to have it available on the date I needed, and even directing me towards the Millionaires Club where I was able to hire guys to help unload my truck. They were also having a special if 1/2 off three months of storage which was a great bonus. The building is clean and secure and has two closed in loading/unloading spots. This is the third storage company I have used in the Seattle area and it is by far the best. The central location makes it convenient. The storage units are dry and well lit. . The check-in was the easiest and fastest. The hours of access are longer than any others in the area. But it is the staff that sets it above everyone else.
