The 2021 The Defector Zinfandel Reserve was my favorite and the 2022 Skull & Bones Single Vineyard Zinfandel was a close second. The various chocolates (milk & dark blend, 70% cacao with nibs & sea salt, 70% cacao with crushed espresso beans, and classic dark chocolate truffle) each enhance the wine with which they were paired. Our experience was managed by the kind and hospitable Mai - she was friendly and conversational. Her level of service is what prompted us to buy a bottle each of my top two favorites. We were only one of two parties upon arrival; however, by the time we left there were six or seven parties in the tasting room. We had a reserved couch and two chairs inside the front door, ready to go for us. They not only had the regular tasting; however, they also had a tasting with chocolate pairing. We did one of each. The regular tasting was awesome, and the chocolate pairing tasting was equally as wonderful with that sweet touch. The employee on duty was Mai, and she was a real treat. She was so friendly to every customer in the room, and no matter how busy it got --- she kept everything in line and everything very organized. She even texted me after I left to let me know about my umbrella that I left behind. We ended up leaving with two bottles, and we would definitely return to this tasting room again.

The vault was really amazing with an extensive selection of high end wine. The website is really nice to use and seach inventory. I was looking for a specific Armenian wine that I couldnt find in Santa Barbara or SYV, and I had a Paso trip planned. I was happy to have found it at this store by searching the website. I called the day before and asked about purchasing online and picking up. They said no problem, they will pull and hold for me. The next day I stopped by and asked for the hold. A very rude lady accused me of always holdng items and not picking up (short, short hair). She said my name quite loudly. She said "let's be honest here Lisa, you have done this before". I had never been to this store or asked for wine to be held prior to this. Others in my party left and would not purchase because of this behavior. It was embarrassing. The other staff were very nice and helpful. In summary, it is a beautiful liquor store with an amazing selection of wine and spirits at fair prices, great website, and most of the staff at helpful and lovely.

We had spent the afternoon wine tasting and originally planned to head back out after returning to the hotel. Let's just say after several tastings, those plans quickly changed. We decided room service was the much better idea and ordered food from Esperanza instead. We ordered the chips and guacamole, a shrimp taco and flautas, and everything was SO flavorful. Even through room service, the chips arrived perfectly crisp and crunchy, and the guacamole had great flavor. The shrimp taco was probably one of my favorites. It was flavorful with a slightly smoky taste and just enough spice. I believe we ordered the flautas with shredded beef, and those were delicious as well. What also impressed us was how quickly everything arrived. We were expecting to wait a while, but the service was surprisingly fast and the food arrived tasting fresh. For food that we enjoyed from the comfort of our hotel room after an afternoon of wine tasting, Esperanza definitely made an impression. We kept saying that if the food is this good through room service, we need to experience the restaurant itself. So next time we're in Paso Robles, Esperanza is officially on the list. We met with one of the winemakers, and he made the experience so fun! Their tasting honestly was probably one of my favorites! Me and my friend couldn't decide which bottle to buy haha; we wanted to get them all but we ended up getting their viognier! It was so light, crisp, and nothing I had before. They definitely perfected each of their wines, so this place is a must try! They waive your tasting when you buy a bottle, so that was an awesome perk! We wish they had a vineyard we can go and become members at; we will definitely come again
