What? I've had this wine and it rocks!

WOW! My favorite wine bar in Orange County (Five Vines Wine Bar) introduced me to Cloak & Dagger. Not an easy task, as this is a small wine maker that doesn't distribute a lot of wine that far south. When I came with my wife to spend a few nights in Paso (stayed at Hotel Cheval - that rocks too!), I stumbled across Cloak & Dagger Wines' tasting room a few store fronts down. OMG - all the wines were so good at the tasting! I went on our first day in Paso, then took my wife on day 3. Both bartenders were so friendly and helpful. The vibe inside is SO VERY COOL! And both bartenders gave us great coaching for one of our best dinners ever (Catch, two doors down.). Try it - you'll LOVE it!

Location & Vibe Tucked away at 840 11thSt in a small historic building overlooking City Park, Cloak & Dagger exudes intrigue the moment you walk in. With tufted leather couches, hidden nooks, and whispers of secret doors, the tasting lounge practically dares you to uncover its mysteries. Wines & Tasting Experience This boutique winery focuses on small-batch, handcrafted wines that deliver maximum impact. Expect bold Bordeaux-style blends (The Assassin, Deep State), crisp Albariño (Espía), and seductive limited‑edition reserves like Cryptology and Traitor. Each glass feels like a classified mission--with tasting notes delivered in hushed tones by passionate staff. Hours & Practicalities They're open daily (typically 11AM-8:30PM, though hours can shift--call ahead to confirm)) The $25 tasting fee is reasonable for the quality and exclusivity. Reservations are highly recommended--even encouraged--so you don't walk into a sudden lockdown at the door. Atmosphere & Amenities Downtown Paso's casual strolling scene meets clandestine lounge vibes here. Bring your pup (it's dog‑friendly!), sink into plush furnishings, and soak in the park view while you sip. If you're looking for a laid‑back tasting with theatrical flair, this spot nails it. Service Staff embody the cloak‑and‑dagger theme--fun, engaging, and not afraid to dive into a little conspiracy lore as they pour. Their insider knowledge of the secretive winemaking process adds an extra layer of storytelling and charm. Final Take For wine lovers craving something beyond typical tasting-room fare, Cloak & Dagger is Paso Robles' velvet-rope experience--without the velvet rope. Whether you're into bold reds, crisp whites, or whispered conspiracies, this lounge delivers. Highly recommend calling ahead, slipping into a leather chair, and uncorking something unforgettable. I'll definitely be back to uncover more of their clandestine bottles on my next visit!

The tasting room is dog friendly!

Stepping into downtown Paso Robles feels like walking onto the set of Gilmore Girls--charming, warm, and full of genuinely kind people. This tasting room is a perfect reflection of that vibe. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with genuine smiles and made to feel completely at home. The wines did not disappoint. The white was crisp, refreshing, and perfect for a sunny afternoon. The reds were rich and full-bodied, with the Cryptology Reserve standing out as a real star--smooth, complex, and absolutely delicious. My husband and I were so impressed, we left with six bottles and zero regrets. Highly recommend stopping in if you're in town--you'll leave with a smile and (probably) a few bottles too.

What a fun tasting room cloaked in mystery and intrigue. In the the heart of downtown Paso, we were pleasantly surprised by this place. The Infiltrator, Subterfuge, Deep State, and Espionage were favorites. Great service and a fun experience!

Despite all of the rain.. We managed to have a wonderful private tasting at cloak and dagger . we sat right in front and watch the rainfall as Natalie poured our wines so beautifully. We loved the 2019 espionage ... This tasting room in downtown Paso on the main drag - is very impressive. It's beautiful on the inside. The wines are labeled very creatively, and the taste is what keep you coming back. This is a dog friendly property . They do not sell food . Parking is not a problem. It's on the street. We highly recommend you go when you are visiting Paso Robles.

Be sure to include the cheese pairing with your wine tasting. The Cloak and Daggers Subterfuge with the Societe Roquefort yum the only thing missing was steak bites!!!! All the wine and cheese pairing were wonderful. The Subterfuge was just my favorite. Wait!!! Just tried the Conspirator:)

We visited the Central Coast for the day to celebrate my oldest son's birthday. Our first stop was a lunch time wine tasting at Cloak & Dagger. We discovered this establishment on a previous visit to Paso Robles and liked it so much we wanted to take our sons on this visit. We love the aesthetic and they play good music. Mai was our hostess and she did a great job. She was attentive and personable. On our previous visit we purchased the Cryptology 2020 which I loved. On this visit we purchased one white (Invisible Ink 2023) and one red (Espionage 2021). These were our favorites from the tasting samples on this visit. Cloak & Dagger has something good to offer for all tastes. We will definitely return on future visits to Paso Robles and I highly recommend.

With so many wineries and tasting rooms in the area is hard to differentiate one's brand from all the others. Cloak & Dagger does just that by having an overall marketing strategy of secrecy and intrigue, from their tasting room decor to their carefully crafted wine labels. Oh, and the wines are pretty dang good too! Cryptology is an example where no one but the winemakers know the varietals making up the blend, though I suspect it had a good portion of Zin. My favorites were The Assassin (Cab) and The Conspirator (Syrah). I felt as if Raymond Reddington was going to walk in and regal me with a tall tale. Recommended if you're looking for great wines with a cool vibe and friendly service.

This was the first tasting room that we stopped at when we got into Paso Robles. I can tell you we had no intention of buying wine and we left with four bottles. Wonderful staff, cool environment and the wines are great!

    Secret door! Shhhh!

Natalie, our server made us feel at home. The wine was very good. I had the Syrah as a glass instead of a tasting. She was very social, and even gave us recommendations of some speak easy's. I would highly recommend going here!

Are you cleared to hear the secret about Cloak & Dagger Wines located in Paso Robles. I recently visited the downtown tasting room on a Saturday night. Located conveniently just off the square. The tasting room is super cosy with a modern look and feel while keeping a warm and relaxed vibe to it. I really enjoyed the ambiance and wish more tasting rooms took a note from this location. Some of these things to note were - nice music at reasonable level, warm and inviting decor, a cool brand and take on the spy world, and some amazing couches you do t want to leave. The tasting fee is 20 and can waive with 2 bottle purchase. I enjoyed the flight and this visit their rosé and zin were tasting very well today, and their go to blends were a nice mix of new and old world wines. Lastly, the staff and owner were great to meet and did a nice job making me feel welcome. I really like the Cloak and Dagger branding with it's spy inspired look and feel all around you. Fun little touches all over the room. My favorite was the staff room door disguised as a bookcase. I heard they will be opening an new additional tasting room in the Tim City Annex here soon and look forward to the creative fun (and wine) they will bring. In recommend you check out this place, but be sure to keep the experience top secret! What's your take?

He was welcoming, attentive, and incredibly knowledgeable throughout the entire tasting. He didn't just pour the wines, he walked us through each one, explaining where they came from and what made them unique. The cheese selection was delicious and paired perfectly with the wines. Simple, but very well done. AMBIANCE: This spot has such a cozy, homey feel. Sitting on the couch honestly felt like hanging out in someone's living room (in the best way). It's relaxed, comfortable, and perfect for slowing down and enjoying good wine and conversation. DRINKS: We did the 6-wine tasting (2 whites, 4 reds), and it was a great mix. Each wine felt thoughtfully chosen, and with Anthony guiding us through the tasting, we got so much more out of it than just drinking. His knowledge really brought each glass to life. OVERALL: If you're looking for a laid-back, intimate wine experience with great service, this is definitely a spot to check out. I'd come back again just for another tasting with Anthony.

After people around us were served that ordered after us, I said "I want my fkn fries" at a totally normal volume to my family privately, and the server (owners gf) heard me (my bad) came over with the owner to scold me lol. Which is crazy bc the owner has cursed at people and called them names in responses to reviews here! He's been so nasty to any low reviews.
