This is a really beautiful store. The wine selection was amazing and very fairly priced. It used to be a bank so they have a really cool vault. The vault was really amazing with an extensive selection of high end wine. The website is really nice to use and seach inventory. I was looking for a specific Armenian wine that I couldnt find in Santa Barbara or SYV, and I had a Paso trip planned. I was happy to have found it at this store by searching the website. I called the day before and asked about purchasing online and picking up. They said no problem, they will pull and hold for me. The next day I stopped by and asked for the hold. A very rude lady accused me of always holdng items and not picking up (short, short hair). She said my name quite loudly. She said "let's be honest here Lisa, you have done this before". I had never been to this store or asked for wine to be held prior to this. Others in my party left and would not purchase because of this behavior. It was embarrassing. The other staff were very nice and helpful. In summary, it is a beautiful liquor store with an amazing selection of wine and spirits at fair prices, great website, and most of the staff at helpful and lovely. read more

Other staff were also friendly and helpful to recommend some champagne, which turned out great. We really the enjoying the store: many selections of wine and champagne and other specialty liquors. Awesome Modern Liquor Store, in an old bank! Everything was clean, modern, and heavily stocked! They had literally any bottle you could think of. The customer service was second to none. Had one employee come and was super hands on and gave great suggestions. The cashier gave a little more knowledge and suggestions. Amazing merchandising and variety of offerings for every kind of alcohol appreciator. Have purchased here several times on my week long visit with family and have nothing but nice things to say about the knowledgeable and friendly young men and the older gal! However I did not appreciate the treatment from the young female cashier, she was the only one who did not acknowledge my presence any time I entered(she was there twice when I came in) and she was using her phone instead of paying attention to customers. Her attitude was poor towards me at checkout and I observed her making irritated faces and muttering when coworkers or customers approached. Wanted to bring to the managers attention because she has been my only complaint, everything else was stellar! Wish I had a Grapes and Grains back home! read more

I was in Paso for a few days around the holiday and finally got a chance to stop in. Totally impressed with the selection of items, particularly the craft beer selection. ThereDoesNotExist is much harder to get a hold of down in LA area, so it was great to see such a wide selection in the cabinet. I got a 4-pk of the Coppergate Pilsner. It wasn't too crowded inside, probably due to it being Christmas Eve, but I looked around at the bourbon and tequila too, saw some things that were new to me. Checked out quickly and the cashier was quite pleasant. I'll be back next time I'm in Paso Robles. If you live here, consider yourself fortunate! read more

There's been an incredible transformation of this former Bank building into this amazing one-stop-shop for all things liquid and delicious. Congratulations to G&G and their helpful staff on this astonishing and well organized space. As we were touring the historic downtown Paso Robles area looking for wine and antiques, we walked by G&Gs Spring Street entrance and were greeted by their mirrored doors gliding open to welcome us. We stood there looking in and marveling at the incredible display of wine and spirits bottles. Bottles of all sizes. Red, White, Rose, and Sparkling. We could feel the spirit of Dionysus beckoning us in. Immediately to the right G&G has utilized the former bank vault into an incredible collection of high end wines, both still and sparkling. Truly breathtaking. Back on the sales floor and front and center they feature a yellow-gold Veuve Cliquot Messenger Bike. Very impressive. As you wander further into the many rows of wines, their selection is quite varied, with both reasonably priced and high end bottles. They have a nice selection of wine accessories, glassware, books, all must-haves for your inner Oenophile or as gifts. Also nice to see their cold box with Charcuterie items. They think of everything. And don't even get me started on their selection of Tequila, Rum, Vodka, Sake and Gin. They have something for absolutely EVERY taste. And all provisions to make the perfect cocktail. They really do offer those and so much more. Take a look at the photos and marvel at the selections. We also found some delicious beers, and purchased a couple six packs of those that we had never heard of. Thanks to Shawn for being so helpful and filling us in on the many things G&G has to offer. I seldom write reviews, positive or negative, unless I have had superb customer service. Reviewing food or wine itself is so subjective; but there is no denying when service is excellent. I was coming to Paso Robles for a short weekend getaway with friends. We decided instead of trekking from winery to winery, to enjoy the house we rented and sip local wines at our own leisure. When I reached out to G&G, they were more than happy to coordinate: instead of shipping, they pulled my list of 20 bottles I'd selected from their very easy to navigate website and packed them in advance for my arrival; they informed me of a couple of out of stock selections, but offered similar varietal and price point replacement suggestions; and when I arrived and said I wanted to add four more bottles to complete the two cases, Tim walked me through the aisles with recommendations to match our planned menus, preferences and compliment the other selections we already had. He was so knowledgeable and friendly and made the entire purchasing process so easy. I will definitely visit Grape & Grains to stock up on my Paso wines any time I am in town or even passing through. Stopped by on Easter Sunday. They get Bonus points, because they were open, excellent customer service, extremely knowledgeable about their products, and the prices were fantastic. We were just looking for a bottle of wine and some peanut butter whiskey and I think we ended up buying half the store. They even carried it out to the car. Unreal. The most gorgeous, beautifully displayed, clean, high-end everything. A former bank building, it's be reconstructed into the most beautiful place. The parking lot is huge, and super new. The best yet, very affordable merch with an amazing vast selection. Jason (wonderful, super nice, knowledgeable) showed me around, and in the future, offered to give me a tour (which I will do soon). I love Paso Robles, and its small-town feel is addicting. The wineries are wonderful, and the friendliness of the people makes it a draw for me to visit on a regular basis. Without the "Napatude." When I can't visit the wineries, my favorite place to shop for local wines is Albertsons on Niblick. Grapes & Grains has recently opened and upped the ante on wines! And the workers there are friendly, too. I'm not a regular spirits drinker - I could probably sell some of my old bottles as ancient artifacts - but G&G gives a good argument to experiment a little more. In addition, its wine selection is off the chain. It not only has a good selection of local wines but a lot of imports as well. There are also beers, mixers, non-alcoholic selections, books, and more. If you decide to stop there, give yourself time. It's worth it and a quick visit is not possible! Located in a renovated bank, its high-end items (which include Sassacaia, wine people!) are located in an actual vault which is open for browsing. I will be visiting Paso several times this year, and now that I know this little gem is open, it will definitely be a destination stop for me! read more

This is fantastic place to get your liquor on. Just think of it as an upscale Bevmo/Total Wines. It's located inside of an old bank. They seem to have plenty of parking and there's also a great walk in fridge with more drinks to find. As for pricing, I think it's a little more expensive than Bevmo, but not that much more. Considering where you are, this the best you are going to find. read more

Stopped in to Grape & Grains the other day. It has to be the most incredible liquor store that I've ever seen. They've got anything and everything wine and spirits. It's taken a while to build but they hit the mark. They've got everything from wine, cheese, deli meats to spirits and 21 and older gelatos. Their selection is amazing and their prices are competitive. I have to say the interior of this place is incredible. It used to be a bank so they used the vault as a high end wine room. They are also redoing the basement and it's going to be a fantastic addition. Stop by and check it out. You'll be amazed. read more

So excited to have such a high caliber beverage store in Paso. The staff were kind, relaxed and helpful. The store itself, while large and fully stocked did not feel overwhelming. It was a very welcoming almost quiet environment, that was so fun to browse. They have everything you can think of, and truly-- it made BevMo look like Walmart in comparison. I used to genuflect at the alter of BevMo. Then I discovered and converted to Total Wines (far far away), but one day, here in my hometown, I walked into the Cathedral that is Grapes & Grains and found my new religion! It beats BevMo and Total Wines hands down! Not only is it nice inside, but very clean, with fantastically arranged displays, and a variety not to be beat.
