The food was excellent. We had a nice time at the restaurant. The daughter-in-law of the original owner chatted with us for a while. We are from the greater Cleveland Ohio area and she has family in Ohio and went to college in Ohio. She was great, the food was excellent. Traditional Italian with excellent pizza. I ordered the Italian platter and my wife ordered the home made raviolis. We stayed at a bed and breakfast in Mount Pleasant and visited the Flight 93 memorial, Falling Water and the Andy Warhol Museum. So ending one of our days at The Village was just perfect. Instead of only carry out pizza, we decided to eat in and check out the menu. We were greeted by Brooke, our server, quickly after we entered the restaurant. We were seated in the dining room close to the windows looking out to the main street. After perusing the menu a couple minutes, we made our choices. A Philly cheese steak and a hot sausage sandwich plus a 4 cut pizza. Our sandwiches arrived first. The Philly was shaved prime rib beef with sauté onions, peppers and cheese. Neighborhood place in the middle of a small town. The service was excellent. I ordered a seafood linguini with shrimp, scallops, and cod fish and a garlic butter sauce. The seafood was cooked exceptionally well, but the garlic butter sauce was a bit of a disappointment. Not enough garlic or salt. The salad served 1st was large with a nice assortment of toppings. The bread was served warm and fresh. My husband had the chicken parm, which he seemed to really enjoy. There were plenty of leftovers. Sweet, casual dining experience in the heart of Mount Pleasant. You could smell the aroma of cheese and tomato sauce as soon as you walked in the door. Our party of three was seated in the front dining room near the windows, nothing fancy, but comfortable. The service was warm and friendly. Felt very welcomed. Two of us enjoyed the rigatoni with sausage and hot peppers, and it did not disappoint. One enjoyed the chicken Parmesan, and she seemed to like it. The bread was warm and fresh and our meals came with soup or salad. We all opted for the salads which were packed with veggies and hit the spot. The prices were very reasonable too. Food was very good. Everything came out hot and fresh. We got the chicken parm and 16" pizza (half pepperoni half onion). My chicken parm came with a side salad that was super fresh. They also brought out some fresh warm bread and butter. For drinks, I got a local Helltown brewery beer and the lady got a wine. Service- was impressive, our waitress really did a good job of taking care of us, checking in every so often. Everyone was kind and just overall very attentive. This is a very well run operation. Ambience- a nice cozy restaurant, it was clean, warm, with plenty of tvs in the bar area to watch football. Could you ask for more?! I've been eating here since I was a child, so 35-40 years. The food has always been great, especially the pizza. You can't go wrong with the pizza, but I recommend ordering extra sauce because it can be a little bit dry. We recently visited for Mother's Day, and everything was great, except for one thing. I ordered the Chicken Parmesan, only to discover they use chicken patties. $18 for chicken patties + some spaghetti doesn't cut it for me. I won't be ordering this again unless they change it up to house-made chicken. This is a staple in an Italian restaurant, and it's usually how I judge a new place. Luckily, this was the only meal I've ever not been so happy with since I've been a customer. Points for the mirror art in the Men's room. Looks much nicer than just a plain white wall. read more

Been a patron for many years but in the past year, food quality is not as good. Chicken parm was like a frozen patty we could have made at home. Last week, we ordered a square pizza to eat in and asked for extra sauce and it barely had any to begin with. Then we were offered a small cup of cold sauce. They used to have great quality. We mad a mistake and tried the Italian food. I'm being generous with a 2 star. Hubby got the shrimp Alfredo. The sauce was very thin and tasteless. The shrimp was very over cooked. I got the chicken diabolo (sp) and the chicken was over cooked. The sauce was also rather tasteless. The twice baked potatoes we likely from Gordon foods or something. Absolutely no taste. Ordered take out wings and spaghetti. Gutter garlic wings were ok. The BBQ wings were dry and not enough sauce. The spaghetti was bad. Sauce was bad, it had an awful taste and I don't think the meat ball had any meat in it. It tasted like card board. Did not even get a refund. read more

Love the pizza has a very unique flavor more so in the round than the square. Our family always battles as majority prefers the round crust and the minority likes the square, but the round style pizza always wins. LOVE the mini salad bar it's my favorite hope it's brought back soon. read more

This Mount Pleasant staple has absolutely the best pizza going. I remember as a kid watching the matriarch mama Rega cooking authentic pizzas in the kitchen. Terrible. Hostess was disturbed we even asked for a table. My wife had chicken piccata, which was not seasoned, bland and literally buried in capers. I had Gnocchi and Meatballs and it was horrendous. I had three or four bites and could not continue. The gnocchi was slimey and gummy, and the sauce was atrocious. Everyone at our table tasted it and we swear it is either ketchup or thinned tomato paste. No seasoning, no garlic, no tomatoes, no basil, no nothing. Pasta Fagioli was a lukewarm bowl that consisted of a can of stewed tomatoes, some crunchy beans, and a sprinkle of ditalini. Sister-in-law had some wings that were drenched in a Whirl-like butter substitute. Brother-in-law had Philly cheese steak, which was "OK", but said you could tell it was not freshly made. The only thing our party of 8 enjoyed was my son's chicken tenders. For reference, we did not complain or ask for our money back. We all paid our bills, tipped the waitor, and went somewhere else. The Village is simply our favorite restaurant in the greater Pittsburgh area! First of all, get there a little early and have a drink at the bar. Bill (bar tend) has been at the Village for over 35 years, and he'll pour you up something delicious, and also be able to recite the day's latest sports scores. The dinning room is very comfortable and they also have window tables (our favorites) where you can look over-top street level. The room has a feel of a country inn and it's not loud (like many today) even with a full house. The food is absolutely delicious! Maybe the best pizza anywhere, and pasta dishes with flavor we just can't find in other places. They also offer a salad bar with dinners (or as a meal) that has a nice selection of greens, olives, beets, peppers, cheese and great, great salad dressings. The prices are very reasonable and the service is always friendly and helpful. If you're looking for a noisy, (TVs and music blasting) type of outing, skip the Village. However, for those of us who dine out to relax and enjoy the company we're with, have some delicious food and drink, you must try The Village soon! read more

The salad bar is ample, the atmosphere is comfortable, decent variety to choose from, and the service is good but the quality of food is just at sub-par. Both my wife's and my dishes were bland. Friends of ours took us for pizza there, saying that they had the best pizza...they were RIGHT! We live about 25 minutes away, but it was worth the drive. It's a very comfortable restaurant, with a bar. The waitress was very nice and accommodating. We sat in the dining room and had a glass of wine, The boy's had beer. We ordered the pizza and it was delicious! If you like a medium thickness crunchy crust, you'll enjoy this pizza. We did! So much, went back again!
