I haven't been to Angelo's II in years. Amber was our server and a really fun server to talk with. She was really nice, upbeat and she stayed on top of our lunch needs in a very efficient manner. The ambiance is casual and it's a dining room from the 70s and very clean. I had lunch there last week with a friend for lunch and I asked him, what he likes here. He immediately said the Antipasto salad. He said he only gets this for lunch because it's delicious and he has some for home. He also said they bake their Italian bread in-house and it's to die for. So he got a large salad and I got a small one. I laughed when Amber brought them to the table one at a time, because they looked the same size. The lettuce and the meats and the cheese were top-notch and there was a lot. I got the House Italian and it paired perfectly with the meat and cheese. I called today and ordered a large one this time! I will get three meals out of it and you can't beat the price. Yes, I will be ordering this salad a couple of times a month because it is delicious and surprisingly affordable. read more

My family and I stopped here for our first time while we were travelling through the area. The place was very clean, and we were seated immediately. Our service was great, and our waitress stopped to check on us frequently. The food, on the other hand had some positives and negatives that I will address. We also had some issues with kitchen mistakes, however, they were addressed immediately, and we have no complaints. For our entrees, we chose the large spaghetti dinner, a chicken parm dinner, and chicken tenders and fresh cut fries. My kids chose popcorn chicken and the home made gnocchi. First, their sauce. I was very happy with it, and would rate it above most other "regular" restaurants attempts at making homemade meat sauce. I liked it a lot! The chicken parm left me wanting. I am used to "real" Italian restaurants at least using "real" chicken. What I received appeared and tasted like a frozen chicken patty. Not happy at all with this, and I WOULD not get it again. I do not go to "home made" Italian restaurants to get something that I could easily get and make myself at home. I chose the home made raviolis as my option with the parm. These were pretty good. The gnocchi were okay, but nothing to write home about. I honestly have had similar right of a frozen bag...and I'm not too sure these weren't the same ones I buy at home. The brand of frozen chicken tenders and popcorn chicken they used were very good, as well. They were "good" chicken tenders... not those crappy ones that mimic the "chicken" I received in the patty form for the Parm dinner. Everyone at our table enjoyed their fresh cuts, as well, although they could have used some seasoning. There was none to be found. We never received the bread that you were supposed to get with your meal, so I can't say anything about that. Also, they are using some pretty crappy fountain iced tea...something I truly detest. The chicken tenders, the sauce, and the service saved the place for us. I honestly would not go out of my way to go here based on our first visit, but I'd go here in a pinch. However, I'd probably just stick to the spaghetti, raviolis, and chicken tenders. The stuff we didn't like was not so bad that we would not be willing to try something else sometime if we find ourselves there. There was a lot of "good"... it's just, the stuff we prefer, left us wanting. If we ever DO go back... I'll be sure to try something else, and update accordingly. read more

This place was recently updated and remodeled. While the inside is small, it's always clean and the lighting is just right. We've never had a rude employee wait on us. And the owner rung me out today and he is always very pleasant as well. Today, I ordered a full order of gnocchi with a meatball, and the side salad with house dressing. My daughter ordered the full spaghetti and two meatballs. They do a homemade meat sauce, which isn't over spiced. But, let's be real. These homemade meatballs are so good!! I don't know what they do, but they are perfect. Imagine someone's Italian grandma in the kitchen rolling them all day. That's what it tastes like. We were told our order would be ready in about twenty minutes. Timing was perfect, food was piping hot and delish. The servings are pretty huge for the price you pay. A case of Tiktok made me do it! My sister and I saw a video showing the Ghostbuster display so we had decide to go for a photo op and try out the food. Everything was fantastic-- my husband loved his hamburgers (which is great because he doesn't really like Italian food). We got the fried cheese ball appetizer - Yum! My pasta was a large portion and came with a small salad. I wish it was closer but would definitely recommend it to anyone in the area. read more

We've been here a couple dozen of times. The place always has wonderful food. We haven't been here since COVID, have limited our places that we travel to during COVID. However this place has awesome Italian food. Just tonight we had the chicken parm, which was incredible. They provide a lot of food, example all of the food, I had to heat it up because it took me that long to eat it. :) Also in recent months, they've become very popular with the different large blown up statues they have on their roof. Ghosts during halloween around Ghostbusters, Christmas, Easter etc; it's amazing to come out and take a gander. I've seen people from all over and outside of PA travel to check the place out. read more

Love the place now that it's been remodeled. I haven't been there in years but I am glad I decided to start coming back. Pizza is good, but I am in love with their gnocchi. Some menu items are a little pricy but nothing has ever been a disappointment. Also, I LOVE The way the building is decorated for Halloween! Such a great place to eat or hang at the bar. Homemade pastas and the salad is so so good. Pizza burgers made the right way - burger with two slices of pizza for the bun. The service is always great. If they're busy, they communicate so you know what's going on. The bar in the front is new and comfortable, always a good selection of drinks and beers. It's one of favorites to go to. read more

Service was excellent even though it was busy and there was only one server, she was attentive and we really didnt wait for anything. The food was excellent. The zucchini fries were better than any French fry we had ever had, they were cut like shoe string French fries and they were crunchy and not greasy at all. The dinner portions are huge! We had the chicken parmesan with meat ravioli...holy cow!!!! There was enough food for 2 more days of dinner at home! The meat ravioli are amazing...we have never had one with so much meat filling! One of my favorite Italian spots in the mon valley. I'm big on "mom & pop" style Italian and this place is just that. Very small sort of hole in the wall place but that doesn't matter because the food is where it's at. I typically get the homemade raviolis or the gnocchi, both which are amazing. This review is a little late but I had to post it. While their food is good, their costumer service is terrible. I called back in August to schedule a birthday reservation and was rudely told by the lady on the phone, "We have people coming from all over the world to see our Christmas decorations, how could we take a reservation for you." Umm it was August not December and I had just placed a reservation the October before. There's better pasta places with nicer people, I won't be returning. read more

Great little restaurant located in downtown Monongahela. Very affordable. Kid menu. They offer Italian dishes, sandwiches, salads, appetizers and dessert. They also have a separate bar area. The town has a lot of antique shops and this is a great place to stop and eat while shopping. read more

The one star is for the waitress who did a great job. The food is terrible. Frozen, bland tasting ravioli and spaghetti. Honestly the most tasteless Italian food I have ever eaten. My husbands chicken parmigiana was cold. I could only eat two of the meat ravioli, the worst tasting sour sauce. The salad was very lackluster as well. A total waste of money. read more

My family and I drove 45 minutes to come to this restaurant for dinner on Saturday,October 12th. After waiting 45 minutes for 3 seats to open at the bar, we were asked " What can i get you". After ordering some drinks, the bartender rudely said "Go to the bar in the other room". We asked why and if he was finished serving and he said "Getting there". (it was 7:30 PM at this point) and we had full intentions on ordering dinners. We then realized the 3 tables with "reserved" signs on them had not been seated in the 45 minutes we had been waiting. It was apparent at that point he was putting those signs up so that no one would sit there so he could leave. I am SO disappointed in this service. We were so excited to check this place out after seeing it advertised for the halloween decorations. I have never been treated so poorly by restaurant staff in my life. Do not recommend. read more

Usually amazing but this time left a bad taste in my mouth. I've been here quite a few times. I've never had a bad meal and service is typically great. We were even hoping the summer concerts on the river come back this year to give us a reason to come more often. However, this visit left me disappointed. Maybe I've never paid the bill before to notice, but soda refills are not free!!!!!!! We took our family out to dinner and couldn't believe our eyes when soda for 3 people was $40!!!!! I can't name a single place that charges for these refills. The worst part is that they didn't even tell us and it obviously wasn't jumping off the menu. People are struggling right now and I would have been so embarrassed if I didn't have enough $ to pay after offering. If this was any other establishment I wouldn't go back. Great Lakes Christmas ale on tap in the spacious, remodeled bar. That beer alone clinched the 5 star rating. A number of nice TVs for watching whatever game is on. Can't go wrong with any of their food - the steak sandwich was great. Instead of chopping the steak they left it flat and rolled it around the cheese which was a nice touch, and got the cheese all melty. Their wings and fried zucchini were also superb - the fry on them was spot on. I also appreciated the connection to the building's history as there were a few large prints of historic Monongahela and Odellis's sweet shop, which was in the same location as the bar many many years prior. First time there. Enjoyed the atmosphere at the bar and the service was good. Pizza was okay but when I got my bill...the charge for my 1 glass of Ruffino Chianti was $20. Not having a wine price list is not customer friendly and I felt like i was taken advantage of. I think most people would want to know if they were going to be charged $20 for a glass of wine. Also my wine list suggestion was just scoffed at by the man in charge so I probably won't go back for a long while if at all. read more

A small quaint place with no ambience but the food was good. We had veal to pizza burger or ravioli. The veal was more of a frozen patty but it was tasty and for 10.99 what do you expect? The ravioli was homemade or at least looked like it was and very good. The cheese sticks & zucchini fries were yum as were the cheese balls. The sauce was a nice *medium* marinara. Ate at Angelo's 2 for the first time in almost 10 years or so tonight with a friend of mine; good food but just 1 waitress on duty; so you might have to wait for a bit after you eat for them to bring your check. I got the ravioli and it was good; I want to try the cheese ravioli next time (not like I haven't had it elsewhere though of course). I can't really give more than 3 stars since it wasn't delicious, if you want delicious you'll have to pay a little more, since their pricing is very reasonable here ($8 for my ravioli, dinner roll and side salad!) read more

This is my favorite place. Even when I was little I loved the food and the place. The house dressing is the bomb. I buy the bottles and use them at home. It's the place I eat the day before a marathon run. Large spaghetti, meatballs, bread, and salad! The service is always on par and awesome, food is always great and more than plenty to eat, and the atmosphere is just right. My Friday staple is the giant house salad and a few beers. A long time staple of Monongahela. This place is great! It's the quintessential small town Italian place. I have had everything on the menu and for the money, you really can't go wrong. The go to favorites are the gnocchi, the pizza (a unique style of pie), and the antipasto salad - ask for it with the extra pizza cheese... The bar is a quaint place to sit and have a beer too. The owner does a great job every year, decorating the outside of his building for the holidays, it is always something to talk about, whether it is a tree like the old Horne's department store in Pittsburgh or a giant bunny on the roof. My husband and I usually sit and eat at the bar, it is non-smoking. Most of the food, is Italian themed bar food. I am not a fan of Italian food. Though, they have an onsite baker, the pizza crust and buns are pretty good. The pierogi is homemade and is very tasty. Haha, I usually stick with a BLT, my favorite. read more

Food is great if you like everything to taste the same. Their "pierogies" look more like re-branded ravioli. Pizza is basically cheese and sauce on a large Poppin' Fresh dough lump. Come here if you don't know how to cook for yourself, like to eat garbage, and want to over pay for it. Eat at McDonald's instead. You'll probably live longer. Maybe not, but it will certainly taste better and cost less. read more

Extremely disappointed! It was technically eatable, so it gets a 2-star, but... The best part was the packaging, it was safe all the way home. We ordered two Large Salads & 2 Cheeseballs. We were told 25min, I was there early, the cheeseballs were cold and hard by the time I got them to the car. The salads were poor at best. They were essentially iceberg lettuce topped with 2 HUGE slices of onion (we needed a knife to cut up the onion into eatable pieces) and two 1/4 tomato chunks - including the stem - so again, we had to cut our own veggies. The steak wasn't terrible, but it was super chewy and flavorless. My husband's chicken was heavily peppered, but not terrible. The fries on both salads were limp and greasy. And they forgot to cheese my salad - although my husband's salad had a HUGE amount of cheese to balance out forgetting mine... Then there was the bread. It was ineatable. It literally stunk like beer, and it wasn't beer bread, it was Italian. We had to throw it out. In total threw away half of what we paid for. We will NOT be back! read more

It's been awhile since I've had food here. Granted, I can't say anything was horrible, but I find it way too expensive for me and the quality just isn't up to snuff, especially when it comes to their pizza. I may try this place again if I hear that there's been improvement, but if not, there are plenty of other dives in and around town one could go to. read more
