This is about the management at Delallo's - insensitive and just gross. We bought a few of their sweets and found issues - cookies called butter cookies with no butter, but yes buttermilk; chocolate biscottis brown in color with little chocolate taste. We reported the issues and they offered a check as reimbursement, which is nice. Now they tell us to buy other brands because of our honest comments. Let's look at it objectively ... they have butter cookies with mislabeled ingredients. Shouldn't they thank us for bringing it to their attention and get it correct? That would seem logical and the same holds for other Delallo foods. They do no quality control. They just blame the customer and are unwilling to make improvements. Time to buy Greek brands. They know how to treat a customer with respect, even if once in awhile a product is to the customer's disliking. read more

Service Used to Be Great - Now It's Terrible! My wife and I have been Delallo customers for several years, mostly ordering from them online, and sometimes purchasing their items in local stores. They always packed the items well and never forgot to include anything we ordered, until the past year. With each order we received, items were missing, cans were dented, lids on jars were loose so that jar contents spilled inside the packing box, and items were no longer packed well. Each time there were problems with our order, my wife wrote to Delallo's customer service team via their website link. Instead of apologizing, they refunded the price of the items that were missing or damaged, which we discovered when reviewing our bank account. Delallo gave no explanation for their order fulfillment errors, no "sorry," no offer to replace the damaged items and send the missing items - they didn't even tell us we'd get a refund. We only found out when we checked our account, which we do regularly. But at least we got our money back. We then had to waste time reordering the same items, and paying shipping again, hoping the items would be intact in the subsequent order. Again, items were missing or damaged, and again, my wife reported the issue to customer service, and again, no apologies. Instead, they gave a long explanation, after several messages from my wife without any response, to excuse their poor service by saying they had several orders received at the same time. My wife told them she wouldn't buy from them again. We were on their email list, and they removed us, which is funny because they didn't even try to get us back. They simply didn't care and took us off their mailing list out of spite. Delallo used to be great, but now their service is lousy, their attitude toward customers is worse, and even more egregious, when the mistakes are theirs, instead of owning up to them, they get angry at their customers! What a sham, Delallo. You have a lot to learn about delivering great service. Not sure what happened to your company, but those who ran it well are obviously no longer employed there. read more

The mother of all Italian specialty stores. Yes, the world headquarters for Delallo products is in Jeannette, PA. The store is the town's only saving grace, but what a store it is! Anything you could possibly need to make authentic Italian cuisine, they have readily available. On my visit this time, I picked up their extra virgin olive oil, several cans of San Marzano tomatoes, some Casalingo sausage, and homemade pepperoni rolls. I placed two orders at different times via website by US mail. First order arrived on time, no problem. Second order, not so much. I did not receive two products I ordered, the vodka sauce and the capers in brine. No big deal I emailed the customer email. No response in two days, I emailed again, no response in two days, and I emailed again a third time, no response. So I called the 877 service number and explained I did not get two items. The rep had this kind of attitude like I was lying. So her comment was rude like "do you want a refund or the products or what?." I said please mail the two missing items. She then just hung on, a no thank you or anything. They do have a great flat fee of $5.00 UPS but other than that, I doubt if I will buy again. There are many great Italian online stores and will spend my money elsewhere. read more

I'm homesick for your food. I want to shop your kalamatta olive aisle, I want to bring home raviolis and tortellini. I want mushroom salad and homemade sauce. I want to buy meat and cheese. You should expand Mr. Dellalo-- put a store in Texas. For all the fuss they make over Central Market and Whole Foods, you'd quickly make a lot of money when they see what a real Italian grocery store is like. read more

I occasionally purchase DeLallo products (cans of olives, pasta, artichokes, sauces etc.) in our local area (SouthEastern PA). DeLallo is a solid brand and offers many items that are convenient to have. If i ever venture "out west" I would like to visit their original store. read more

The Delallo Company is more than a grocery store. Delallo's is one of the best Italian markets around and it is unlike any other food shopping experience.. As you enter the store, you pass through a fabulously displayed produce section.(sometimes, I am even hesitant to take an item off of this produce work of art!) After walking through the produce section, you will find yourself in the well-stocked self serve antipasti bar filled with all the many different types of olives, mushrooms, artichokes, roasted peppers, etc. The next area of the store features a fabulous cheese counter with cheeses from all over the world. The cheese counter connects to the prepared food section which offers anything from homemade potato salad to freshly made giant fish sandwiches. They also have a luncheon meat department which has more varieties of meats then I ever knew existed. And in case you were in need of something sweet, you will find a fine array of cookies, cheesecakes, pies, biscotti, birthday cakes, sweet rolls and much more. And if your cart isn't full yet, you still need to make your way through the grocery area to stock up on pasta sauce and noodles, imported olive oil and salad dressings. I want a butcher who can give me prime beef. I want a fish monger with the freshest fish just off the boat, nothing previously frozen. Your deli, bakery and produce can not be matched. You have space you have the revenue so I want it now. Why do you make me run around western pa to get the things I need? Sorry don't like the new pizza dough. Made it tonite. Everyone was saying they tasted it before. Went down the list of pizza joints and then my granddaughter said it tastes like a Salteen cracker. Sorry it's the truth. Hard to work with. Needs to rest in the fridge for an hour or so. Please please bring back the Calippo (spelled it wrong) tuna in a jar. Nothing can touch it. Good cooks will spend their money on good ingredients. This company was responsible for one of the worst mail order experiences I've ever been forced to endure. I tried to order a gift basket of Italian cookies for my mother for Mother's Day (she lives 3000 miles away from me). I placed the order online on May 1st, well in advance. The shipment didn't arrive until May 16th. When I called on the day after mother's day to find out what happened I got a story about how the bakery had somehow messed up and the basket never arrrived at shipping, but the order would be shipped that day. That didn't happen, as the basket didn't even arrive (in Richmond, VA) for another 5 days. Plus, the order rep told me the first time I called that they had tried to contact me, but couldn't. I verified my phone number was correct on the order, and they never called, so either they got the billing and shipping phone numbers confused or it was an out-and-out lie. Unsatisfactory, in either case. The second time I called they again lied and told me UPS confirmed delivery, which couldn't have been true since this was Wednesday and the package didn't arrive until Friday. Gift baskets shouldn't be this hard, and they aren't for many other places. Through all of this interaction with this company, there wasn't even an attempt to "make this right" somehow. Do yourself a favor and don't use this company. read more

We went here because our daughter thought it was great. The people are friendly and very helpful. We loved looking at all the items they sell. Their deli food is awesome. We loved the cookies and cheesecake. The pepperoni rolls are huge. Make sure you stop at this place just to see all things that they have. read more
