The architecture, design and engineering team was fantastic and prompt with project updates and design recommendations. Our project manager Diego met with us in person and walked us through the process and provided us with the peace of mind and experience to map out what to expect and how long the project would take. We even scheduled a visit to one of their already completed ADU projects. Seeing the completed project at their open house, and learning how quickly that project was completed, really clinched it for us and we signed with them the next day! From the time when we signed on with ADU Resource Center through initial/final design, engineering designs, plan submittal, and plan approval the Phase 1 of our project in Los Angeles, took only 5 months. It might have been even quicker, but my wife and I went through a few iterations of our vision before we finalized it with the design team, during which they were more than happy to oblige! We are currently on Phase 2 of our project. Our project manager presented us bids from several contracting teams all of which have been vetted by ADU Resource Center but were encouraged to shop around for similarly priced contracting teams but I am certain that any of the teams they recommended and have worked with directly would be excellent choices for our project. That being said, the main reason for this review is to recommend ADU Resource Center to anyone wanting experienced ADU Professionals who handle the labyrinth of permitting, architectural/engineering, design/redesign and navigating the red tape that might other wise cause this part of the process to last twice as long without their help.

If he sees something he doesn't like or feels wasn't done correctly, he has no problem telling his crew to rip it out and redo it until it meets his standards. Every day when they finished work, they made sure everything was cleaned up and their tools were organized in one designated spot instead of being left scattered around the property. Working with the insurance was a pain, luckily Gil had experience working with Allstate insurance before, and he helped us a lot getting the money we needed to rebuild our home. The planning process took a bit longer than what we initially planned for. The county of LA took their sweet time approving our plans. Fortunately, after 2 sets of revisions we were fully approved. The construction wasn't bad at all, they had plenty of guys working on our home at the same time. The only time there was no work, was on inspection days. The finishes was one thing that was extremely important for us. My wife and I are detail oriented and wanted to make sure we're choosing the right company to do the finish work correctly. I had a rough vision in mind for fitting a lot into a relatively small space, but wanted to see the options rendered so I could better make the big layout and design decisions. Alexis was very patient and super helpful in mocking up each iteration until we locked in the final design. Once it was time to actually break ground, Gil, Oren, Uriel, and the rest of the team were really responsive and always available by text. Unlike previous contractors we've worked with, they usually gave us an idea of what was happening the next day/week and who to expect onsite. The first ~70% of the project went really smoothly and far exceeded my expectations. Demo, framing, rough plumbing, and electrical all largely went without a hitch. We ran into some problems towards the end around communication, timeline, and subcontractor oversight -- which led to more delays when someone punctured our new in-wall toilet tank and flooded both the bathroom and bedroom. We know every construction job runs into challenges so we weren't bent out of shape by it, and we did appreciate that GHB took full responsibility for fixing the issues. By and large we were really impressed by most of their subcontractors, especially the very professional and considerate plumbing, electrical, and tiling teams! After living with our new bathroom for a while now, we can definitely say it was worth the wait, and such a huge improvement over our previous dysfunctional layout.
