This is our first indoor restaurant experience since covid19. Seatings were spaced out. We got a whole bunch of items to share. Pros - oysters were blue point. They were briny and has a clean taste. I haven't had oysters for months, so this was my favorite - lobster roll. Large chunk of oysters, buttery toast, and thin fries. - fish tacos were nicely fried. We sat right on the deck and were completely impressed with the impeccable attendance by the entire staff. We felt cared for and like the staff was truly invested in our good time. Went for a catch up dinner with my sister here since I've moved out of state. We had reservations at 5:45 on a Friday, weather was beautiful so we sat outside. My 3 y/o nephew was so excited to see all the boats pass by. The wait staff was impeccable, excellent service. Just hosted my daughter's Emily's bridal shower brunch on 8/25 at The View in Oakdale, NY. In the tea room. Jesse the manager was excellent in helping us plan and manage the event! They also were very accommodating to the florist, balloon company who were setting up there. The staff were super efficient , very attentive when serving food and drinks, very respectful, and friendly and courteous throughout the event. They helped us bring all of our gifts and decorations to the car too! The brunch was delicious as were the drinks. Highly recommend, can't wait to celebrate another occasion there. Met a friend for Dinner and an an excellent waiter. She ordered a Belvedere Lychee Martini. Waiter returns and says we don't have Belvedere so she orders Tito's instead. Waiter brings my drink and states the bartender does not know what a Lychee is and we do not have it- We go to order dinner and I order a filet Mignon butterflied with melted Gorgonzola cheese on top. Waiter comes back and says chef never butterflies his steaks and refuses to melt Gorgonzola cheese on top. I call the ASM over and he asks the chef about the melted cheese and politely returns and stated no chef refuses. Place an order for fish and the risotto is watery. ( I did not complain) I see the GM walk by and I flagged him. He comes over and I start to explain the evening and he says in a condescending way let me stop you right there. Last week we had a birthday get together with 9 guest. We were seated right away and the waitress took drink orders while a young man filled the water glasses. After about 30 mins she took our order. One highlight was we were offered separate checks. The young man was refilling water glasses and got water all over my leg. Most everyone ordered burgers. A few soups and calamari were ordered and a lobster roll. We were allowed to substitute the French Fries for salad. The restaurant was not crowded at all. After waiting an hour for our food we had to go looking for the waitress to see what was going on. The manager came over and said the food would be right out. I ordered a burger medium and side salad. The salad was wonderful but my burger was well done and dry. Overall this was a disappointment. read more

Lobster rolls are consistently great. Hot bread and sweet butter at the beginning of the meal is like a dessert, delish!! Service has been wonderful. Only issue I have, and I feel it's a big one......whenever I get an upgrade to mixed veggies instead of fries, they try to rip me off. The side of onion rings, sweet potato fries and mixed vegetables are all $7.95 on the menu and regular fries are 6.95 which is what comes with the lobster roll. We always upgrade to one of the other sides. But for some reason they always charge me $4. more for the veggies and only $1. more for either the onion rings or sweet potato fries. First time we questioned it, they took $10. off the check and the manager said they needed to fix the button on the machine because it's wrong. Great, no problem. Next time, the manager told the waitress that's what they charge for the veggie upgrade. I asked to speak to the manager and asked him why when it's the same exact price as the other items and we're only charged $1. for them. He asked how much more we were charged and we told him $3. more than the onion rings. He begrudgingly said he would take the $3. off the bill. WTH? I wouldn't mind paying extra for the veggies if the menu reflected the price difference. But don't try and rip people off by charging more for something that is the exact same price as other sides for an up charge of only $1. read more

Good not great retirement lunch gathering in regards to the food on new lunch menu. There were some issues with food temperature not being hot enough for New England Clam Chowder & side courses. My salmon would have benefited from a cream sauce and the risotto presented was a little off and not creamy and needed some acid like fresh lemon juice. Was told the Lobster roll and and white cheddar bistro burger were hits as was the short ribs. On the appetizers the Thai Calamari was over cooked, the stuffed baked clams very dry and not hint of any piece of clam. The raw clams on half shell were very good as were the crab cakes. We had our wedding at VIEW a week ago. I literally can't say enough good things about VIEW... would give 11 stars if I could. After getting engaged, I was a bit skeptical about having a whole big wedding and never imagined it would be such an incredible experience. The owner Jimmy and manager Jesse were lovely and helpful through the booking and administrative process. Jonathan, our event manager went above and beyond to make sure every detail was perfect and also that I was comfortable with everything leading up to the day. The day of, Jonathan acted as manager, coordinator, and everything in between. He made sure everything went smoothly and perfectly, arranged with all the vendors, personally made sure my decor was set up, etc. etc. My mom told me after how many of our family and friends told her this was the best wedding they had ever been to. The food was incredible, vibe was perfect, and the view.. well obviously it was amazing since the whole place is surrounded by water. We did the vendor package and had quite a good experience with all the partners as well. I added some extras with the florist as I wanted the gazebo decorated where we did the ceremony outside- and it was perfect. Otherwise everything that came with the package was fantastic and we used it as is. Many people also raved about the cake. Again cannot say enough good things- the VIEW truly gave us a wedding experience beyond what I thought was possible and I am SO GLAD we did it! Very disappointed. The location itself is beautiful but everything else did not meet the expectation. Waiting service could be better, we waited over 30 mins just to get our appetizer orders in, another 40 mins to get them served. Then the waiters disappeared and we waited 45 mins before we had to hunt them down to take our orders. The food...tasteless. I ordered the fish and chips and I was greatly disappointed, everything else that we ordered was just as disappointing. I would not recommend this place unfortunately. I dined at the view a couple of weeks ago in Oakdale, when I entered I was extremely impressed as the over the top Holiday decorations, when checking in the very gracious hostess seated us at quiet table in a private section.I requested table #53 which was unavailable due to the area having a lovely rehearsal dinner. We were seated by a warm glowing fireplace.Then we were greeted by the always cheerful assistant manager Jonathan Barrios. The cocktails were excellent as was the surf and turf cooked to perfection. I had heard of the View for quite some time. With a celebration in mind, I knew I was taking a risk for going to a new spot instead of an old favorite. The risk paid off and I'm glad we came here. The restaurant is very well designed. It's spacious and clean feeling, without going over the line of being kitschy nautical. The restaurant is appropriately named as the view is very nice. The service is very attentive. David and his fellow coworkers checked in often and were helpful. All of the food were presented beautifully. We ordered a variety of items from the menu but the stand outs were the French fries and frosé. David won major points when he said, "Here's a straw because you don't want to get frosé on your nosé." #nailedit This is a great spot to take someone for a special date/anniversary, especially if you're looking to impress. Wow. I didn't realize that they have such a beautiful outdoor Dining area with an amazing View of the water. A Perfect way to end the last few nights of summer relaxing outside on a beautiful night. They start you off with fresh baked rolls & homemade butter that was delicious. The Cocktails & Wine were amazing. Came to this gorgeous venue for a bridal shower and I'm so excited that this is the spot my besty booked for her wedding next year! It's gorgeous! So bright with beautiful expansive views of the great South Bay. Valet parking was a breeze and so was finding my girls bridal shower in this brightly lit room with sunlight flooding in! Ya girl was first on the buffet line and had no shame in overflowing her plate and then going back for seconds lol. This restaurant is located in Oakdale by a prime water view location. I had read that in 2010, Lessing's revitalized the old Riverview Restaurant and opened the new View Restaurant. The Lessing's View restaurant not only is a beautiful location for lunch or dinner, but they also cater for weddings and any other celebratory affairs. We visited the View Restaurant for dinner with friends on their outdoor deck by the river moon light. It was a wonderful view and dinner along with their staff were wonderful. The restaurant prior to the pandemic, would also have happy hour & music on the deck which unfortunately we have yet experienced. read more
