The staff wears masks and gloves. This was a really nice restaurant with a lot of space and great ambiance. It was really chill and very relaxing for a Valentine's Day dinner. The staff was very polite and service was fantastic. We ordered the Crispy Thai Calamari, Maine Lobster Bisque, and Old Bay French Fries for appetizers, had Sea Scallops and Maine Lobster Pasta for entrées, and had the Fire Islander and View Rum Punch to drink. Onto the food! The restaurant served complimentary bread, which was decent. It was fairly soft with cheese baked into it. It was a bit buttery and had a mild garlic taste but it was a bit underbaked. I wish it was a bit flakier and buttery with more garlic. Overall, 6/10. The Crispy Thai Calamari was a decent portion for the price ($15) but was cut very thin. It was somewhat crunchy and the tempura didn't flake off. The squid wasn't too chewy and it was well seasoned with a nice consistency. However, I didn't like the Thai sauce it was prepared in and served with. It was too sweet, which ruined the taste of the calamari. I wish it had a spicier taste to it. For me, it was a 7/10. The Maine Lobster Bisque was flavorful and rich, and the bisque wasn't too heavy. It was creamy and had a nice consistency in terms of taste. The lobster was flavorful but I wish it had more lobster. It was decent and around a 7/10. I enjoyed the Sea Scallops and the risotto it came with. The risotto was very well made, and full of flavor and was very rich. The risotto was al dente and was creamy with bits of lobster in it. The lobster was also seasoned well. The scallops weren't fishy and were slighty crispy and not too chewy. I would say this was an 8/10. The Maine Lobster Pasta was also really flavorful and creamy and very colorful. The pasta was al dente as well and the lobster was well prepared without being fishy or chewy. The bacon was chewy and added a nice saltiness to the dish. To me, it was an 8/10. The Old Bay French Fries was a good portion for the price ($7) and was very well seasoned. They were crunchy and not too oily, which I liked. It was an 8/10. The Fire Islander was really great! It was fruity and tasted like punch, and wasn't too strong. I love fruity cocktails so this was a solid 8/10. The View Rum Punch was also really great, with a good blend of orange and alcohol. It tasted like OJ with alcohol but it wasn't nasty or strong. It was a great drink and around a 7/10. Overall, this was a really nice place with a great view and wonderful ambiance. The patio view is the reason why this restaurant gets its business. The food is okay, but the lobster roll, sweet corn & crab chowder, and fish and chips are hard to screw up along with starting with a dozen of their fire island oysters. Make sure you ask for the sauce on the side for their Thai calamari or else it may come drenched and soggy. The staff is another plus. They may be busy and forget an order, but they rectify things quickly. Plus, they clearly have experience taking photos of the view for special occasions. That alone was worth a hefty tip for a Kodak moment to last a lifetime. Parking is ample and reservations are easy to make without any mix ups. If you want the happy hour menu, stay at the bar and come during dinner for free fresh, warm, and tasty bread rolls. We had such a wonderful experience at The View in Oakdale! There was a steel drum being played. I felt like I was on vacation, the view was spectacular. The food was incredible. I had the lobster shrimp scallop pasta. My husband had the lobster roll and I enjoyed the watermelon salad and I think my husband fought a friend for the last spare rib appetizer! Found this place for a last minute date... First off, Cara our waitress was fantastic from start to finish. Being that it's my first time here I had a couple of questions on the menu and she was extremely helpful and knowledgeable about everything. We started with the Duck Tacos that Cara recommended. Let me tell you they did not disappoint! The flavor and presentation were spectacular. Next I had the chicken entree, it was out of this world. Chicken was moist and seasoned to perfection. My lovely date had the Ceaser with chicken and it was amazing. Finished the night off with a waffle sundae, another recommendation from Cara! It was FANTASTIC! I've been to two events hosted at the View- a guest at a beautiful summer wedding and my own fall baby shower just yesterday. Lessing's is a well oiled event planning machine. The staff is always knowledgeable on service and the food is held to a consistent standard. The View itself is a beautiful location. If you're blessed with a nice day, the outdoor patio makes for a really beautiful space. During the wedding we attended they had the dj & dance floor outside, which was such a nice twist. On Sundays the View hosts public brunch and several small showers. I believe there were three other showers going on yesterday as well. This worked wonderfully for my group since we got the private room and had a midsized group (22 guests). Most venues wouldn't given us a private space for under 30 guests so this was very appreciated. They let my hosts in a half hour before the party started to decorate and didn't rush us out as we cleaned up. They also have valet parking, which when attending an event in rainy weather is appreciated! I was a little concerned about the shared brunch line. I didn't want my guests waiting on a long line instead of socializing and having a good time. But the buffet flowed so smoothly, nobody was waiting at all. I personally enjoyed the omelette station. Entrees: Lobster Pasta: really tasty, lots of chunks of lobster and a lovely, lite sauce. Swordfish: I thought is was a little overdone, but my sister loved it. Went for a catch up dinner with my sister here since I've moved out of state. We had reservations at 5:45 on a Friday, weather was beautiful so we sat outside. My 3 y/o nephew was so excited to see all the boats pass by. The wait staff was impeccable, excellent service. I went to dinner at the "View" with great anticipation, ready for fantastic venue and food. It was raining, but the ambiance was still lovely. It still looked wonderful, but then it was all downhill. The waitress treated us like some low-lifes not worthy of her attention. We got wine, after waiting. After another long delay, we were able to order bread and our entrees. I never knew it took a half an hour bring bread ( I guess they were baking it) and our entrees came out with it. By then, anything would have tasted decent. We asked for ice in two glasses and that took finding a separate server to get it for us. It was as if they were searching for the last ice cubes on earth. Finally it was time to eat our main course, and then dessert. After all that..... the food was fair. When we dined there, it seemed like there were only a few patrons there, and yet, it certainly seemed like they must have forgot about us. Getting the check was funny... then, they right there... when it came time for the check. My advice, is simple..... it want a wonderful dinner... with "Attentive service".... you should pass this place by and save your money for a place that actually caters to their customers. Good not great retirement lunch gathering in regards to the food on new lunch menu. There were some issues with food temperature not being hot enough for New England Clam Chowder & side courses. My salmon would have benefited from a cream sauce and the risotto presented was a little off and not creamy and needed some acid like fresh lemon juice. Was told the Lobster roll and and white cheddar bistro burger were hits as was the short ribs. On the appetizers the Thai Calamari was over cooked, the stuffed baked clams very dry and not hint of any piece of clam. The raw clams on half shell were very good as were the crab cakes. Waiting service could be better, we waited over 30 mins just to get our appetizer orders in, another 40 mins to get them served. Then the waiters disappeared and we waited 45 mins before we had to hunt them down to take our orders. The food...tasteless. Just hosted my daughter's Emily's bridal shower brunch on 8/25 at The View in Oakdale, NY. In the tea room. Jesse the manager was excellent in helping us plan and manage the event! They also were very accommodating to the florist, balloon company who were setting up there. The staff were super efficient , very attentive when serving food and drinks, very respectful, and friendly and courteous throughout the event. They helped us bring all of our gifts and decorations to the car too! The brunch was delicious as were the drinks. Highly recommend, can't wait to celebrate another occasion there. I had heard of the View for quite some time. With a celebration in mind, I knew I was taking a risk for going to a new spot instead of an old favorite. The risk paid off and I'm glad we came here. The restaurant is very well designed. It's spacious and clean feeling, without going over the line of being kitschy nautical. The restaurant is appropriately named as the view is very nice. The service is very attentive. David and his fellow coworkers checked in often and were helpful. All of the food were presented beautifully. We ordered a variety of items from the menu but the stand outs were the French fries and frosé. David won major points when he said, "Here's a straw because you don't want to get frosé on your nosé." #nailedit This is a great spot to take someone for a special date/anniversary, especially if you're looking to impress.
