Location is perfect for the plethora of live entertainment events, located on Sunrise Service rd behind a Shell gas station in a small strip mall of mixed business which includes a pizzeria, Chinese food, a dance studio and a bead/jewelry making store. My first impression was a good one, I walked in to the bartender cleaning behind the bar, which I continued to watch her take all the already clean glasses and shot glasses and clean them again while carrying out a conversation with me. The floors were clean and looked freshly waxed. The ladies room was clean with large mirrors and a stool to sit down and do your makeup.The business stocked a basket full of hair spray, lotion, hair ties, body spray and hand sanitizer. I really think the basket in the ladies room was a nice touch of hospitality for a local pub. The bar is a fully stocked bar with over 90 different alcohols to choose from, a wide variety of beer including local long Island craft beers. Shakers really knows how to mix it up, when I asked the bartender to make me something good she asked for a base alcohol(flavored Vodka), a mixer(pineapple juice) and if I liked certain flavors from her 15 plus cordial bottles, Johanna the bartender made an amazing drink. I have been in on a number of nights and have never had a bad experience even on a normal Wednesday Night with a few local regulars. -Monday Nights are Open Mic Comedy night from 8pm to 11pm -Tuesday Nights is LADIES NIGHT!!! Great Drink Specials $3 glasses of wine $4 mixed drinks -Wednesday Night they have a Blues Jam featuring the one and only Zen Bock -Thursday Nights usually have some kind of entertainment usually Hip Hop or R&B artist -Friday and Saturday Nights are show nights ranging from Blues to Hardcore and everything in between - Sunday Funday- the bartender is really cool and puts out board games to play there is an open mic 2pm-6pm and sometimes there are shows on Sunday nights There were two dart boards in the room where the shows are hosted and 2 pool tables in the bar area. I seen the pool league playing there on Wednesday night. Its a quiet local neighborhood pub during the day with friendly staff, but an energetic loud atmosphere at night Thursday-Sunday. Skinny old hag bartender Jenny is a drama queen. Jealous, craggy and lies. Talks about everyone's business. Tells lies about the women she is jealous of. The desperation is real on this one. Looks you right in the eye and lies to your face. Miserable person IMO. Hubby tells me she is always flirting with him. He also says that she will talk people's business to him. He is embarrassed when she talks about people he does know. Some are friends, ya know?. He knows them years, it was their regular spot. He feels awkward when he sees them now, as he knows their business and shouldn't. I went there with hubby, and he said she acted different because I was there next to him. I went to the bathroom, and when I came out she was leaning in to him talking. I walked up and she pulled away. He tells me she does that to all the guys. We tell her were are in-laws, married to his brother. She tried to be cute with him right in front of me. Let her believe we are siblings-in-law. I hate leaving a bad review but this was very needed. If you want to go out, go to another place or just stay home. Less drama. And who knows, she could be talking about your business, so maybe best to stay away from there when she works. Wish I could give more stars for the ladies who also work there. They are much better and act professionally, are friendly. It is a shame one sad old lady has to ruin it for the others. Shakers is a great place with a home like feel. There is a warmth as soon as you walk in like you belong here. From the outside it looked to be just any neighborhood bar, but inside was spacious and fun. The bar tenders were friendly and knowledgeable. I like that they do feature bar tenders (from known to locals who want to try it out) and give any act a chance to show what they can offer. There is a huge 'party' room with a nice stage for live performance and pool tables even quick draw. I went to check out this location to a possible fundraiser event, this place is the perfect size for a function like I am trying to put together. The owner is kind, and explains things really well. She offers a flexible schedule and local connections to vendors or entertainment. She is even willing to do special drink menus and dress up for a themed event! I stopped in on Tuesday night LADIES NIGHT the bartender JO..was GREAT... She made drinks very well and fast. The drink specials where on point..The bar area was neat well maintained .... I love playing pool so 2 tables was a huge plus... the area for venues was a good size you will see me there for some of the shows,paint nights,and many other cool events Jo was telling me they have going on ....SEEMS i have found a new SPOT...with a great location right off sunrise with a quick on off the service road plus the parking lot was well lite so i didn't mind going out for a smoke... Very pleased with my visit!! will be back. excellent pricing. they have ladies night on tuesday $3 glasses of wine, $9 pbr pitchers. comedy open mics on monday are hilarious. on the weekends they showcase different genres of music all local talent. The staff was very attentive and a pleasure to deal with. they offer buy backs. i also played some pool during my visit. it has a very homey feeling. when i walked up to the bar i was assisted immediately. I love Shakers from many perspectives. As a musician and comedian I have been able to use the stage in a setting that is not too large and not too small. The performing area is completely separate from the bar so there people coming to drink or hang there can so their own thing. I've also rented the place out for parties and special events and the owner Nika personally took care of me. She always bends over backwards to accommodate my requirements and her rates are the best rates in town. I always support my local small businesses and Shakers is no exception! read more
