Castaways happy hour is 12:00 noon to 6:00pm daily. Another big and beautiful restaurant space with both indoor and outdoor seating areas. This place was packed early with people celebrating their children's graduations

Everything we had tonight was awesome. Love the decor and ambience. We started the mussels in green curry sauce, it is absolutely best sauce I ever had with mussels!! The tuna tartar served with fresh taro chips. I can eat the chips all day. Lol. The tartar had a nice soy and sesame taste, it was perfect. The salad with arugula, beets, goat cheese and pumpkin seeds were the perfect blend of texture, whatever the dressing was added the perfect harmony to blend all the texture together. The seafood platter is cold, the clams were so tender and delicious, it actually overshadowed the oysters, which were also good. The prawns were almost as big as the lobster!

Castaways might just be one of my new favorite restaurants to go to on LI. It is SO cute on the inside with a nautical / ocean theme. We honestly stumbled in here randomly and I am so happy we did. We ordered a chicken caesar salad and the surf and turf sandwich to do splits with for our meal.... But I need to take time to talk about this tuna nacho special.......... It was actually perfection. It is served on wonton chips with jalapeños, avocado, some spicy mayo and honestly the best/freshest tuna I have ever tasted. SO GOOD. The bartender James was fantastic. He gave us great recommendations and took amazing care of us. Will defiantly be going back to sit in the outdoor patio soon.

We're out here visiting a friend and hubby says we have to go to Castaways. The reason? You gotta try the oysters. So we arrive with our pup and we are seated outside in a nice little corner. I already love that we can bring her. The cocktails were not great but not boozy enough for the price. The calamari is tender and perfectly cooked and I am loving those hot cherry peppers. The oysters...amazing!! Really good and next time I'm gonna order that with a side of pasta and call it dinner. Hubby got the seafood risotto ...he didn't love it. I ordered the surf and turf sandwich...I didn't love it either. So I would come here again but order the things I know are good and no cocktails.

My book club went to castaways for our holiday party! We had so much fun here. This place is so cozy and decorated very well! I was so glad to see someone open this place back up and have a nautical theme. Service was perfect, everyone was very nice & attentive. The menu is a perfect size in my opinion, my friends and I had truffle fries and the steak sliders to share, I thought they were delicious! Steak was cooked to my liking. I also had a salad with chicken and boy are they generous, I had so much chicken on my plate lol it was well seasoned! I would definitely recommend this spot and eat here again.

Nice atmosphere near the water, open walls feeling outside breeze was a nice touch. Service was great, food was just ok. Lobster bisque was very salty, the calamari salad felt tasted over dressed, the taro chips were chewy. Sliders were great. I'd probably come back

Castaways in Port Jeff is one of those places that instantly brings me back. I grew up on Long Island, and every time I visit home, a stop in Port Jeff is a must. There's something about being by the water, hearing the ferry come and go, and taking in the charm of the harbor that just feels like home. Over the summer, after a perfect beach day on the North Shore, I stopped by Castaways for a classic summer meal-- a lobster roll and a Caesar salad. The lobster roll was exactly what I was craving: fresh, buttery lobster piled high on a perfectly toasted roll. Simple, but done right. The Caesar salad was crisp, well-dressed, and a great addition to balance out the meal. Paired with an ice-cold drink and a view of the harbor, it was everything I love about summers on the Island! The atmosphere at Castaways is relaxed but lively, and whether you're sitting inside or outside, you get that unbeatable waterfront feel. Service was friendly and efficient, and the food came out quickly despite a busy summer afternoon crowd. If you're in Port Jeff and looking for a great seafood spot with a view, Castaways is a solid choice. Whether you're a local, a visitor, or like me ... someone who will always consider Long Island home, it's worth stopping in for good food and that classic Port Jeff experience.

Food is ok. Expensive. No wait to be seated but a little long wait for food. No free bread for apps just oyster crackers which u have to ask for. U also have to ask for napkins and straws or else they won't be given automatically. Had to wait long for box and checks. Service needs improvement. Ambiance is ok.

Courtyard Dining, Food & Service Don't Match the Price Yesterday we went to Castaways Steak & Seafood in Port Jefferson for dinner with a group of seven, including three kids (two ordered adult meals). Meals Ordered: Our table had a variety of dishes -- seafood risotto, two 8 oz filet mignons, a cowboy ribeye with additional side dishes (charged separately), a chicken Milanese special, and one guest who opted for two appetizers: the tuna tartare and steak sliders. I also paired my ribeye with the lobster bisque, which was flavorful. Patrizia's chicken Milanese was seasoned nicely but thicker than she prefers. My ribeye, ordered medium rare, came out medium and was tougher than expected. The kids' filets were ordered medium but came out medium rare, though one enjoyed her baked potato side, which was generously portioned. Drinks & Setting: Since it was a pleasant day, we sat outside in the courtyard-style space, which has a lively flow of people walking by. I ordered a Bloody Mary (it was Sunday, after all), and we also shared two bottles of mineral water at the table. The overall atmosphere was casual and bustling. Service: Service was just average -- polite but nothing memorable. Despite mentioning the issue with my steak's doneness, nothing was adjusted or discounted, and everything was billed at full menu price, including the ribeye's extra sides. Pricing & Value: The total came to about $485 plus a standard tip. For that cost, we expected better execution in the kitchen and more attentive service. Multiple issues with steak doneness, along with ordinary service, made the evening feel very overpriced. Overall: We had a pleasant dinner as a family, but in my opinion, Castaways Steak & Seafood doesn't justify the premium prices. The courtyard setting is lively and convenient, but the food and service didn't deliver enough value. Two stars. Cautionary Tip Update - reviewing the menu for the review it looks like maybe the bill included a 20% auto tip. I must have not checked the receipt carefully. But we added extra tip which is unfortunate. Be careful with this auto tip for six or more. Maybe with larger parties I can see but to auto tip 20% on six people is ridiculous.

Good is tasty but pricey. The wait staff is awesome. We had a funny, personable waitress. The decor is cool...nautical, of course!

What an amazing place, they made our night perfect! The service was impeccable, the bus boy so attentive my husband gave him a $5 tip at the end of dinner. To start, you are served some toasted buttery like pieces of bread with hummus. I do not like hummus but my husband said it was the best he's ever had! They did bring me plain bread with homemade butter which was delicious! I chose the chicken spring rolls that came with a mango type sipping sauce as my appetizer. Outstanding, I can't say enough about how delicious the spring rolls are. Filled to the brim with a filling loaded with chicken! I was so tempted to order another serving but I wanted to save room for dinner. I absolutely will next time! Unlike many restaurants, at Fifth Season,, you can choose other side dishes if you're not happy with what your dish is served with as noted on the menu! I wanted the chicken but chose the coconut rice and organic carrots as my sides instead and I have to say, its a MUST for you to try as well. The flavor of each is so perfect, the rice is like a risotto consistency but hard to explain. Just trust me on this, over the top delicious! The chicken was very tasty and flavorful, just needed a little more sauce (that's my liking though! I love lots of extra sauce on my food), but I highly recommend trying this dish! We did not order dessert, my family wanted to get some ice cream in town but I will try dessert next time. The Fifth Season is now in the top five favorite restaurants for me! Unfortunately, I'll have to wait for a weekend to dine there again as I wouldn't make it home in time for during the week but I plan on returning very soon! This is a restaurant to absolutely add to your bucket list! I seriously can't rave enough about it!

I haven't been here in a very long time so I'm excited to see how the restaurant has stayed in business over the years. We are shown to our table upstairs. The bar area on a Friday night looks fun and active. There's great views of Port Jefferson harbor so the restaurant ambiance is nice. We're seated and are given restaurant week menus as well as the wine/cocktail list. Listen, It's Friday nite and I don't want a wine cooler! Give to me a standard Martini stirred (Shaken is just dumb) with stuffed blue cheese olives. The ladies order appletini's and we're ready to order off the restaurant week menu. The menu has a nice selection of different offerings, I'm into all things local so I'm going to start with the beet salad and Red Snapper. The beet salad was loaded with beets! I love beets, they did a good job with this started dish. I must point out, the dish must have been prepped earlier in the day. The green salad was slighty wilted when served to me. The Red Snapper, what is that sauce on top? And the fish was sitting on a bunch of zoodles?? The fish wasn't seasoned, it wasn't very flavorful. I'm eating around the zoodles, meh. The cheesecake I ordered, it was also just a standard dessert. I didn't finish the fish or my dessert. Review is over, Fifth Season Restaurant? See you in another 5 years.

By far and away the worst I've experienced. I took away a star for this reason. The new spot aesthetically is just okay. Our food was delicious but the wait time for the meals and drinks was insufferable. BTW, the wait time for the check was equally as painful. We ordered fried calamari as appetizers and a zuppa di pesce - while zuppa is translated as soup in English, the dish is closer to what may be considered a fish stew. In addition to the fried calamari we also ordered a large salad that we split. Cova is a unique restaurant that serves dinner in a family-style format. This means that the entrees are designed to be shared between two or four people. While the food is excellent, for a hungry person, the amount per serving is not worth the price. Unfortunately, the cappuccino maker was not in service, so I ordered a regular cup of decaffeinated coffee. Regrettably, the coffee was not to my liking. The Takeaways: 1. The food is very tasty. 2. The coffee is not good. 3. The price to portion ration is poor. 4. Parking is ample. 5. Make reservations.

This week's excursion brought us to Struggletown BBQ in Mount Sinai, NY. From what I learned, what started as a food truck morphed into a brick-and-mortar business that has obviously hit its stride. This place is awesome! On the table this time was a "Big John Sampler", a 1/4# platter of brisket, pulled pork, chicken, and ribs, as well as a side of chicken wings in an Alabama White Sauce and corn bread. Absolute winners all around. My first real introduction to corn bread was from Paul Prudhomme's cookbook "Louisiana Kitchen," where I learned to make, and love, a traditional southern corn bread (moist, flaky, and somewhat sweet). Of all the places that I've been to, in my humble opinion, this place has the best outside K-Paul's. There is a reason that it's one of the most requested items from the restaurant. It was excellent! Why am I making a fuss about cornbread? Because it's the details that make a restaurant great. Next came the chicken wings in Alabama White Sauce. I'm now a convert. Sure, I've had it a few times, but this version was eye-opening! Perfectly smoked, then fried chicken wings slathered in this red-sauce alternative was an epiphany for me. I don't think I'll ever look at the humble chicken wing the same way again. I am spoiled for life! Goodbye Buffalo, hello Decatur (where the sauce reputedly originated). Yeah, that good and worth traveling for. The meats? What you want from a BBQ joint. The brisket, pulled pork, and chicken were all juicy and smoked to perfection; the ribs had a smoke ring that made me jealous of their skill set (I'll get there one day). Have I said "awesome? yet? Plenty of parking, all cards, and they cater! This is one of those places that you'll want to day trip to if you're jonesing for some smoky greatness.
