Castaways might just be one of my new favorite restaurants to go to on LI. It is SO cute on the inside with a nautical / ocean theme. We honestly stumbled in here randomly and I am so happy we did. We ordered a chicken caesar salad and the surf and turf sandwich to do splits with for our meal.... But I need to take time to talk about this tuna nacho special.......... It was actually perfection. It is served on wonton chips with jalapeños, avocado, some spicy mayo and honestly the best/freshest tuna I have ever tasted. SO GOOD. The bartender James was fantastic. He gave us great recommendations and took amazing care of us. Will defiantly be going back to sit in the outdoor patio soon.

My book club went to castaways for our holiday party! We had so much fun here. This place is so cozy and decorated very well! I was so glad to see someone open this place back up and have a nautical theme. Service was perfect, everyone was very nice & attentive. The menu is a perfect size in my opinion, my friends and I had truffle fries and the steak sliders to share, I thought they were delicious! Steak was cooked to my liking. I also had a salad with chicken and boy are they generous, I had so much chicken on my plate lol it was well seasoned! I would definitely recommend this spot and eat here again.

We're out here visiting a friend and hubby says we have to go to Castaways. The reason? You gotta try the oysters. So we arrive with our pup and we are seated outside in a nice little corner. I already love that we can bring her. The cocktails were not great but not boozy enough for the price. The calamari is tender and perfectly cooked and I am loving those hot cherry peppers. The oysters...amazing!! Really good and next time I'm gonna order that with a side of pasta and call it dinner. Hubby got the seafood risotto ...he didn't love it. I ordered the surf and turf sandwich...I didn't love it either. So I would come here again but order the things I know are good and no cocktails.

Castaways in Port Jeff is one of those places that instantly brings me back. I grew up on Long Island, and every time I visit home, a stop in Port Jeff is a must. There's something about being by the water, hearing the ferry come and go, and taking in the charm of the harbor that just feels like home. Over the summer, after a perfect beach day on the North Shore, I stopped by Castaways for a classic summer meal-- a lobster roll and a Caesar salad. The lobster roll was exactly what I was craving: fresh, buttery lobster piled high on a perfectly toasted roll. Simple, but done right. The Caesar salad was crisp, well-dressed, and a great addition to balance out the meal. Paired with an ice-cold drink and a view of the harbor, it was everything I love about summers on the Island! The atmosphere at Castaways is relaxed but lively, and whether you're sitting inside or outside, you get that unbeatable waterfront feel. Service was friendly and efficient, and the food came out quickly despite a busy summer afternoon crowd. If you're in Port Jeff and looking for a great seafood spot with a view, Castaways is a solid choice. Whether you're a local, a visitor, or like me ... someone who will always consider Long Island home, it's worth stopping in for good food and that classic Port Jeff experience.

Food is ok. Expensive. No wait to be seated but a little long wait for food. No free bread for apps just oyster crackers which u have to ask for. U also have to ask for napkins and straws or else they won't be given automatically. Had to wait long for box and checks. Service needs improvement. Ambiance is ok.

Courtyard Dining, Food & Service Don't Match the Price Yesterday we went to Castaways Steak & Seafood in Port Jefferson for dinner with a group of seven, including three kids (two ordered adult meals). Meals Ordered: Our table had a variety of dishes -- seafood risotto, two 8 oz filet mignons, a cowboy ribeye with additional side dishes (charged separately), a chicken Milanese special, and one guest who opted for two appetizers: the tuna tartare and steak sliders. I also paired my ribeye with the lobster bisque, which was flavorful. Patrizia's chicken Milanese was seasoned nicely but thicker than she prefers. My ribeye, ordered medium rare, came out medium and was tougher than expected. The kids' filets were ordered medium but came out medium rare, though one enjoyed her baked potato side, which was generously portioned. Drinks & Setting: Since it was a pleasant day, we sat outside in the courtyard-style space, which has a lively flow of people walking by. I ordered a Bloody Mary (it was Sunday, after all), and we also shared two bottles of mineral water at the table. The overall atmosphere was casual and bustling. Service: Service was just average -- polite but nothing memorable. Despite mentioning the issue with my steak's doneness, nothing was adjusted or discounted, and everything was billed at full menu price, including the ribeye's extra sides. Pricing & Value: The total came to about $485 plus a standard tip. For that cost, we expected better execution in the kitchen and more attentive service. Multiple issues with steak doneness, along with ordinary service, made the evening feel very overpriced. Overall: We had a pleasant dinner as a family, but in my opinion, Castaways Steak & Seafood doesn't justify the premium prices. The courtyard setting is lively and convenient, but the food and service didn't deliver enough value. Two stars. Cautionary Tip Update - reviewing the menu for the review it looks like maybe the bill included a 20% auto tip. I must have not checked the receipt carefully. But we added extra tip which is unfortunate. Be careful with this auto tip for six or more. Maybe with larger parties I can see but to auto tip 20% on six people is ridiculous.

Good is tasty but pricey. The wait staff is awesome. We had a funny, personable waitress. The decor is cool...nautical, of course!

We took the ferry over from Connecticut to visit Port Jefferson. It was my wife's birthday and I picked castaways for her celebration dinner. Glad I did. Though it's pricey the food, staff, location and atmosphere were all excellent. As it was her bday, most importantly my wife really liked it too.

Nice atmosphere near the water, open walls feeling outside breeze was a nice touch. Service was great, food was just ok. Lobster bisque was very salty, the calamari salad felt tasted over dressed, the taro chips were chewy. Sliders were great. I'd probably come back

Waitress our waitress Lauren was wonderful. Our food was very good as always except for that scampi sauce did not like that very much tasted pretty much like lemon water but everything else was very delicious.

Popped into this lovey, wood polished establishment for lunch and ordered up crispy juicy coconut shrimp app along with a bowl of lobster bisque soup to start. The soup was creamy and delicious with big lobster chunks, not having to hunt for it or just tasting seafood broth here ;) Both came out quick and were on point. Personally followed that up with a hot a buttery lobster roll. It was fresh and juicy even before adding a bit more butter. They serve it up on a proper roll that was slightly toasted but soft with each bite. My Mr had two of the juiciest lobster tails with cole slaw and a garden salad. Sadly couldn't stay to try out a dessert since we had the baby wanting their liquid lunch too, but know the wait staff was super sweet and quick getting all that was needed and asked for super timely. *Noted: Street and municipal parking lot available. But if that isn't available, you have to find a spot in the lot and then find the inconvenient sign with a QR code at a $1/hour. The bar was busy when we arrived. We were seated at a table near the windows and were able to see the amazing sunset, as well as the ferry, which both arrived and departed several times during our meal. Our server was Destiny, who was very nice and did her job well. We had ordered some cocktails which took a very long time because there was only 1 bartender attending to the crowd. As for appetizers, we chose the mozzarella steak, the garlic and herb mussels and the cauliflower bites. All were served beautifully and tasted good as well. We also asked for bread and a loaf was served warm with olive oil and a half WELL roasted garlic bulb (most likely used for decoration) but it should have been roasted a lot less for it to be used as a spread. Dinner was the steak frites, twin lobster tails and golden glaze salmon. The steak was served with a salsa verde, the lobster was accompanied by a small gravy boat of drawn butter, a half corn cob and 4 roasted baby potatoes. The salmon, was my dish and was crispy and tasty, served over broccolini stalks and purple forbidden rice. Dessert took a while to come out and we were worried that we wouldn't get back to our car for the expiration of our time. It worked out. 2 of us ordered chocolate cake and I had the cheesecake. The portions were huge! I think what took so long was that they had to open up a new cake because 1 slice was warm and fudgy, while the other was more solid and dense. Not a problem, still delicious. Thank you for a wonderful meal.

*January 2026 Restaurant Week*…read more My wife's bestie made plans for the (4) of us to meet for dinner. We all live close so Fifth Season Restaurant was chosen. I haven't been here in a very long time so I'm excited to see how the restaurant has stayed in business over the years. We are shown to our table upstairs. The bar area on a Friday night looks fun and active. There's great views of Port Jefferson harbor so the restaurant ambiance is nice. We're seated and are given restaurant week menus as well as the wine/cocktail list. Listen, It's Friday nite and I don't want a wine cooler! Give to me a standard Martini stirred (Shaken is just dumb) with stuffed blue cheese olives. The ladies order appletini's and we're ready to order off the restaurant week menu. The menu has a nice selection of different offerings, I'm into all things local so I'm going to start with the beet salad and Red Snapper. The beet salad was loaded with beets! I love beets, they did a good job with this started dish. I must point out, the dish must have been prepped earlier in the day. The green salad was slighty wilted when served to me. The Red Snapper, what is that sauce on top? And the fish was sitting on a bunch of zoodles?? The fish wasn't seasoned, it wasn't very flavorful. I'm eating around the zoodles, meh. The cheesecake I ordered, it was also just a standard dessert. I didn't finish the fish or my dessert. Review is over, Fifth Season Restaurant? See you in another 5 years.

The salads we felt were small for the price but were tasty. The main course was delicious and a nice portion. However the small portions continued when we moved over to dessert, which was very overpriced for what you got. The service was also kind of slow. I think they need more wait staff.
