Brisket Burnt ends with Cole slaw and cornbread

Yum!! I got the brisket burnt ends with Cole slaw & cornbread and it was all very good! I do wish they had collard greens on the menu, but the items I ordered were great. Their BBQ sauce is delicious, has a great Smokey flavor.

Came here because me and my fiancé were hungry and in the neighborhood. Me and my fiancé love bbq, so when we stumbled across Struggle town it was a no brainer. I'm happy they open this store front because before this was here it was a pizza spot and the pizza was super mid. Great new establishment for the neighborhood and the bbq was surprisingly really good. My fiancé got a pull pork platter with 2 sides of baked beans and Mac and cheese. Pull pork was flavorful and the sides were decent. I really enjoyed the baked beans but the Mac and cheese was nothing special. I ordered brisket sandwich and the brisket was tender and very good. For the price you really can't go wrong here. I seen slot of complains on yelp from others about the portion size, but for $20 a pull pork plate with 2 sides it's a steal. Overall great staff, great location, and nice new edition to the neighborhood. I look forward to trying other things on the menu.

    Welcome!

There was a time when I had *two* great BBQ spots within driving distance from my home. 2020 is when the world changed and I lost them both. Now, a phoneix rises from the wood ash. Welcome Struggletown BBQ! I know what you're thinking, C'mon, 5 Yelp stars? Yes dammit yes! I had a sandwich called "The Big Tex" made with bark, a few burnt ends and brisket that was dyn-o-mite! My wife & I walk in before superbowl. The counter person says we're sold out, sorry. It smells amazing inside but we bootskoot out and plan our return. Second visit, Friday night, 6:30. We walk in, my wife orders one meat platter with two sides and I ordered "The Big Tex" along with chicken wings. We grab a seat and wait for our Que. My sandwich comes out, look at the craftsmanship. I chose the signature sauce and it's topped with coleslaw. Total banger. The restaurant isn't large, there are a few two top tables. They have a large take out business as people were coming in after us and picking up their orders. It's now 7:30 and someone comes in to place an order. I hear the countereperson say to the customer they are out of BBQ for the night. My take, come early if you want to try this great BBQ!

Everything was fine, but it's terribly expensive. 2 sandwiches and a few sides came out to $75. Too expensive for take out.

Best BBQ I've ever had. If I I ever got sent to jail I would ask for their brisket as my last meal.

Growing up in New Mexico and Texas, I find it hard to find a spot on LI that helps satisfy the craving for good Mexican/TexMex. Tonight, we got a pretty good platter of food. My wife and I got a total of 8 tacos, 4 Birria tacos (2 of each), and 4 street tacos. (2 carne asada, 2 carnitas). My kids each got a quesadilla, regular and chicken bacon ranch. I tried the chicken bacon ranch and that thing was pretty serious lol. My kids could have definitely just shared one. With all of that being said, the carne asada street tacos were definitely my favorite of everything, followed by the carnitas then finally the birria tacos. The salsa verde they served in the cup was as authentic as they come, and I put that sh** on every single bite. Something about the salsa verde in the bottle just wasn't hitting the same. As my family was wrapping everything up, this nice young lady approached us and offered complimentary churros for the kids! Super nice of them. This experience was definitely a 9/10 for me. I would probably just skip the birria tacos next time, personally.

The food from Taco Island is packed with flavors and seasonings that will satisfy any craving! My…read morefavorite of there is the birria quesadilla and their nachos!
