Redemption! I always try to keep an open mind when visiting a restaurant, especially if it's new. Well, I'm happy to say this one has matured very well. Just walking in, we were warmly greeted, then quickly seated. This place is "picnic style", so you're given menus at your table, but order at the counter (I personally like that vibe). Anyway, we ordered their 1/4 pound, five-meat sampler (pulled pork, pulled chicken, brisket, a competition-style rib and a whole smoked sausage) and they converted me. Everything was nothing short of awesome. Both the pork and chicken were juicy and tender, the brisket this time around was smoked to succulent perfection and the rib was nothing short of excellent (not 'fall off the bone", but with that perfect competition "pull" that really won me over). The sausage I learned was locally sourced and a great compliment to the platter. Enough for two with small appetites to share. The sauce is still in small cups, but as I was told, there had been so much waste left on empty plates, that they had no choice to serve it that way, and I get that. Restaurants run on very thin margins these days. I had the spicy version again and really enjoyed it. Add in some live music played by a couple of good ole boys and since my first visit 9 months ago, this place has turned into a legit Long Island BBQ joint and will now be part of my usual rotation. I still think the hush puppies could have used a few seconds less in the fryer, but the flavor profile was spot on as was the corn fritters. But we left happy and full...I'm glad I was able to get back and try it again. Plenty of parking, all cards and a very laid back experience. Stopped in for lunch while we were visiting from Connecticut. We ordered the back plate rib special. and wow, was it ever special! We also ordered pulled pork and brisket. Everything was delicious. The smoke flavor was just right and the meat was so tender. The service was friendly and that really makes a difference. After May of 2025 they will have a full bar. There is plenty of parking and a ramp if needed. There's a bar and an eating area. There's also an outside area that looks like it is pet friendly. This is a very nice place. On 7/26/24, we took a couple visiting from Paris to Branch where Meat's Meat has partnered to do the food. Since Newsday wrote an excellent article about it moving there we went there for Bbq as our visitors requested Bbq. You pick up your own plastic cutlery and order at a counter. Ice tea is served as a quart for one person in a plastic soup type container with a hole for a straw at the top plastic lid. No other size available. Brisket was 3 pieces on a paper plate, no garnish, no Bbq sauces offered or on your table. Corn fritters were 5 very dry deep fried small balls that were more fritter than corn. No accompaniment sauce to flavor them up. I am accustomed to a flat corn fritter bursting with corn. The chicken wings were so so. JuJu's on Main Road, Aquebogue have the best Bbq wings. I found them not cooked enough and discarded three of the 5. The pulled pork sandwich was a roll with the meat. - no additional sauces available and no pickle garnish. For drinks you go to the bar, including a glass of water. Ketchup is available by the plastic cutlery. You remove and throw away your tableware. In this day and age, I am insulted by them using plastic to save money on a dishwasher in an environmentally conscious society. Stopped by to test out the bbq for a possible future catering event. We tried three things - brisket - good - ribs -pretty good - and a pastrami special - better. This is a good spot and when I don't have 8 hours to smoke something and I am on the North Fork, this is a solid option. Service was good and fast and pleasant. read more

Stopped in while on the east end. Had passed it a few times and thought we should stop some time to give it a try. We did so this past weekend. Walked into a sparse crowd. No one near the door to explain how the place worked or offered us a seat. Finally wandered to a counter and was advised to order and then sit down. $80 for the bill which included just 1 beer. Better be a ton of food.......nope. Tiny basket of pulled pork. $19 for burnt ends, literally 4!! Cauliflower app was salty as hell!! Small Cole slaw. Beans were best part, maybe more meat than the burnt end portion. Just not worth the money. Plus, if you want another beer you have to go to the bar and order and pay again. Poor process. Took my wife out for an impromptu date night to Meat's meat BBQ for dinner. The service was excellent. We both had generous portions of delicious down home southern BBQ. My wife had to leave with leftovers! You're getting your money's worth of BBQ food that's nothing short of delicious. I look forward to stopping in for lunch/dinner again soon. All the smoked meats are excellent but most of the sides are not good. The baked beans are the only side worth ordering. Another problem is there is an extra charge for BBQ sauce and only comes in a small paper portion. Another problem is that there are 2 separate businesses and you have to order drinks at the bar ( including water). And have separate checks for food and drinks. I know this is a relatively new business and the smoked meats are very good but unless the glaring problems are worked out I don't think it can survive. I hope the problems are rectified since the food is very good. read more

Succulent, spicy pulled pork sandwich was amazing. You can taste the love they put into their profession. This is real bbq and I can't wait to try everything on the menu so I'll be adding more photos soon. Today was the grand opening and I believe there will probably a line out the door especially on the weekend once word gets out. Been passing this place for a while and finally decided to stop in for what we anticipated to be a hearty BBQ lunch. Ordered the 5 meat 1/4 lb platter and the beef rib entree. When the platter arrived, we looked at each other aghast as the $20 rib "entree" was literally A rib. When the waitress came to pick up our plates after we had finished eating and asked us how we enjoyed our meal, we mentioned that the food itself was relatively tasty (albeit the pork rib being a bit dry and the chicken having a salty and watery consistency) and she said the rib entree goes based on weight. Now, while I do understand that most items at BBQ restaurants are based on weight, this should be taken into consideration when 90% of the rib consists of bone and fat. The weight of $20 missing from my wallet far exceeded the weight of the 2 bites of meat that went into my mouth and was, by all measures, 100% absurd. I have to give credit to the waitress who was nice despite our honest feedback and disappointment in the quality of our meal. In this economy, $77 for a rib, a 5 meat "sampler platter," and a small paper dish of baked beans is just unacceptable. Excellent place to eat if you have disposable income and enjoy portion sizes that would leave a pomeranian famished. As a Texan, I am left pulling out of the parking lot incredulous. read more

i tried the food from here when this truck was at the mattituck strawberry festival this past weekend and let me tell you ... some of the best bbq i've had in a long time. the food came out extremely fast and the person helping us was extremely friendly and accommodating. i got the pulled pork sandwich that comes with pickles and onions (i got the bbq sauce on the side) and the jalapeño mac & cheese! the meat was very tender and flavorful and the mac just melted in my mouth. if you are looking for the perfect bbq food truck to cater for your next event, definitely call these guys up! read more

A blatant ripoff. Pure and simple. First, I make better ribs and brisket on my backyard smoker. 2 ribs were $17! No sauce on the plate or the table. They think their sauce is so special that it might "go bad" if let on the table because it doesn't have preservatives. LMAO. I have an idea. Keep it in the refrigerator and then put the bottle in the table when a customer places an order. Why not get a wait staff instead of this get your own food like I'm at a Food Court at the mall. The 4 meat combo was $48. There was barely enough for one person, let alone 2 people. Hush puppies were one ball of grease. Totally disgusting. The pitmaster needs to take some major lessons. I was pretty eager to try this place but I have to be honest we will not be going back. The ribs were pretty darn good. I didn't think 4 ribs for $25 was worth it but hey, people have to make their money. The service was ok. The rest of the food was just not good. We bought the coleslaw and it was not tasty at all. The cornbread was so dry it crumbled when I picked it up to take a bite out of it. The Mac and cheese was different than what I'm used to. I wouldn't say it was bad tasting but I wouldn't eat it again. So we basically paid over $50 for 4 ribs because that's all we ate lol. Beyond disappointed with my experience. To begin, there was only 2 people in front of me however I waited over 20 minutes. Extremely slow process. Next, the biggest disappointment, I ordered chicken tenders and fries from the adults menu which was over $10 and it came with literally 2 little pieces of chicken. I saw the women after me leave with 3 tenders in her order for some reason. I asked staff and they said an order comes with 2. Whatever, would have been okay if they were decent. MEATS MEAT AND THE BRANCH I'm not really sure what the name of this place is but it took over the old BBQ spot on Sound Ave in Mattituck. Google Mattituck BBQ and you will be as confused as I was. Remember the Big Pink Pig? It's a lovely space that has not really changed from the old BBQ joint. Nice bar, comfy tables. There are no real servers to place orders: "Whad up with dat Sit?" You step up to the bar and order. They ask for a credit card to start a tab. I stood there for 10 minutes to get a beer. The 2 bartenders were not really busy. There are bar menus and food menus on each table. No server to order. You have to step up to a counter, place your order and pay in advance. It's not really a restaurant but more like the Food Court at Tanger but definitely not cheap. We ordered a variety of BBQ meats which were very good. We ordered corn fritters and Hush Puppies for appetizers which were the absolute worst. No server to complain to and not get charged because you already paid. When the bartender came over to give us the bar tab: "Last call for drinks, (It was only 8 PM) How was everything?" I picked up a corn fritter and squeezed: "Look at this! So over fried it turns to dust in my hand." "Sorry, that's not our department." "Our drinks were not what we ordered?" "Yes, I know, we ran out of the proper ingredients so we improvised." On the way to the "Terlet" I passed the cashier: "How was everything?" "It has been one of the most bizarre restaurant experiences ever." "Well you have to realize that we are two separate entities." "May I please have some BBQ sauce? Any other BBQ joint has sauce on the tables." "Our sauce is special and fresh without preservatives so we don't put it out. It could go bad." "That is very strange." Spicy's had the same BBQ sauce out for at least 8 years. "We've only been open for 3 months and still working out the kinks." "It might have been a great idea to have a much better business plan before you opened and work out the kinks in the first month." In the local Riverhead paper article yesterday they reviewed the restaurant/bar. It seems that Meat's Meat on the Main Road in Mattituck shut down and collaborated with The Branch Bar at this new location. They seem to rely on the weekend Vineyard and Motorcycle crowd to survive. What happens after Labor Day?? It's inevitable. They will be down from 6 days to 3 days. As a "Serial Entrepreneur" I always wonder about new ventures that fail miserably. Went to the LI food festival this weekend and had to check them out. Ordered the meat sampler which comes with pulled pork, ribs, sausage and brisket. The pulled pork was delicious. We ordered it with their spicy bbq sauce which was a little spicy. So if you dont like spicy try the sweet bbq. The ribs was juicy and tender, definitely recommend. Im not a huge fan of sausages but, it was really tasty. I was really excited for the brisket! It was amazing and didnt disappoint! This place was super expensive for the amount of food we got. $55 got us 1 sausage, 2 ribs, a small portion of chicken & pork, 3 strips of brisket and that was supposed to be for 2 people. Oh and dont expect sides to come with anything. We added on extra ribs and paid $17 for 2 ribs. You will spend around $80-$100 for 2 people easy if you want enough food. I stumbled upon this food truck at the Foods of the World event in Deer Park Long Island, this past weekend. I've had barbecue in Texas and North Carolina along with all the barbecue spots on Long Island and, I gotta say this may just be the best I ever tasted. I ordered the "sampler" which included, pulled pork, brisket, smoked sausage along with a portion of ribs to die for!! The staff was attentive and really quite funny. Recently had Larry and his meat wagon cater a graduation party, and the food was simply amazing. Seriously, some of the best BBQ I've ever had. From the brisket, pork ribs, beef ribs, smoked turkey, pulled pork, just incredible. Can't forget the jalapeño mac & cheese and beans with brisket. Food was hot, fresh and plenty of it. I had a really bad experience at this food truck. For starters, the staff I dealt with was extremely rude. I got the brisket sandwich with mac and cheese on the side. The bread on the sandwich was just awful, dry and tough. I ended up just eating the meat. By the way, there were no toppings on the sandwich. Not even pickles or cole slaw. The mac and cheese was a disappointment as well. Just not very cheesy. The whole meal was $20 and it was a tiny portion. The mac and cheese was a palmful. A total ripoff and not good food.
