"Pho stars"... get it. Across the street from where i work, and its much better Pho than the ones i have tried in New York! The summer rolls and the peanut sauce paired very well together. The shrimp in the rolls were fresh and and vegetables gave it a good crunch. The pho broth is the star here though! It tastes great and is full of flavor and basically what sets each pho place apart. The rice noodles were also great and the meats/tendons which accompanied the dish were all great. Definitely give this place a try! will probably be coming back soon. read more

I always order Vietnamese coffee (which is extremely strong) and they serve it with milk and a cup of ice. Finally found a Vietnamese restaurant that delivers and not a moment too soon. I ordered the Com Dac Biet (D6 on the menu in the grubhub app) and it was so good. I loved the spring rolls and the grilled shrimp dipped in that wonderful sauce. The best part was definitely the pork chop.! I wanted more. It was seasoned perfectly, juicy and so tender. The meal included an egg but I felt that was not necessary. More pork would have been a welcome substitute. Delivery was fast and it arrived within 40 minutes of me making the order. read more

During my first visit the untrained staff and poor leadership of the manager forgot to place my order. It took me sitting at my empty placing and questioning the staff if something looked out of place as all others in my group were eating or nearly done before they realized the had forgotten to place my order. They then placed it and expected me to eat and pay for it as we were leaving. Today's visit was on on par with the first. To start, the wait staff wore filthy clothes. Nearly half of the items on the menu were not available. We're talking main Vietnamese appetizers.... I ordered rare beef brisket pho as my lunch. The order came it with the beef cooked well done and was lumped in a ball as if it had been frozen and thrown in the soup. The waiter proceeded to argue with me that the beef was rare. The noodles we're just thrown in the broth unstirred. Again, the waiter argued. We paid our bill and left immediately. The party of 5 next to us had ordered their lunch before we arrived and still had not received their food when we left. This place rightfully went down hill fast for good reason. I am so, so sad to write this review! This place was our favorite cheap dinner and takeout spot, we would get food here once a week. Alas, after they closed for the month of October and reopened in November, things have gone completely downhill. They removed many dishes from the menu, but have not updated online. Takeout that used to take 5 minutes now takes 45- I wish I were exaggerating. The vinegar onions I always order with my pho are now sloppily chopped and come much less per order, and the basil, sprouts and jalapeño are all wilted and old. When my husband got takeout last night, they were unable to provide him with a receipt when he requested one. And several people received incorrect food in the time he was there waiting. Highly recommend the lemongrass soup! I ordered shrimp and tofu although I suspect the soup was meat-based. It came with a dish of fish sauce with garlic spicy sauce. I think it was ~$10. Super rich, spicy, and addicting. The noodles are slightly thicker than the vermicelli noodles that come with pho. The soup was thick with ingredients and was so delicious on a cold, rainy day! The staff members are friendly. The environment was very nice and family-style--I don't know about how club- or bar-style this place is. Great place to catch up with old friends, though. I visited Viet Pho & Grill during lunch recently and I had a pretty enjoyable experience. There's plenty of parking out front (or anywhere in the Hillandale Shopping Center area). The restaurant is casual and there is plenty of seating inside. Service was friendly and efficient and I really like that they are open at 10am for lunch (for those of us who like to have an early lunch). What I also really liked about this place was the fact that they have 3 size options for pho - small, medium, large. Usually there is usually a Small or Large option. I usually opt for the Large option, which is quite filling. But this time, I had the option to go with the Medium, which was a perfect portion. As for the food itself, I ordered the Pho Ga (chicken pho) and though it was tasty, it wasn't the best pho I've ever had. The chicken portion wasn't too generous and half of my soup seemed to be bean sprouts and basil. Overall, not bad. But I would still like to have more chicken with my soup. But for the price, it's definitely worth it - less than $10 overall for my meal (including tax and tip). That's how pho should be and often is not in the DC area (where many places charge you $13+ for just a bowl of pho). I will likely visit Viet Pho & Grill again because it's so convenient and the soup was tasty and perfect for this currently cold wintery weather. read more

Perhaps the filthiest pho restaurant I've ever been to. Fruit flies would be flying around as I try to eat the rice with fried pork. Food was ok, but I had to wait at around 20 minutes when I was only one of two customers at the time. First timer at this cute little store in Silver Spring! I ordered fried calamari to go and the service was pretty quick (10 minutes)! When I went to pick up my order, they had it out ready and fast already. But when I requested a cup of chili powder (which I always request at the restaurants), they said they did not have any. But I asked again for spicy sauce and they ended up giving me Sriracha LOL! The sauce that already came with my order was so so. It was a bit sweet but bland overall. It tasted like a downgraded spicy mayo. But the fried calamari were decent (5/10 stars). The squid did not really taste as good as other squids in other restaurants (did not taste fresh) but I still ate them all. I was put off by the staff in the kitchen coming out with gloved hands but using those hands to push open the doors. Same with the guy serving water - with I gloved hands he inserted straws into glasses by pushing down on the top of the straw with his fingers. I hate to give bad reviews, I really do, but a review should ALWAYS be honest, and to be honest, this place has gone nothing but downhill since it changed owners a couple-few years ago. I cannot remember the last time they got my order correct. It certainly wasn't today. The restaurant was nicely decorated and the wait staff friendly. We ordered two C4 Pho(s) with Rib Eye, the Grilled Chicken appetizer, and Cokes. The grilled chicken came out relatively fast, but was unimpressive. There was gristle, and it just seemed like a cheap dish that wasn't really given attention. But the pho was delicious! Very unhappy with the portions. They say they have three sizes but all of our order even thou I ordered a small, a medium and a large of three different pho. They all came with the exact same amount of broth noodles and they were very skimpy with the meet. They also only sent two bags of basil, jalapeños and bean sprouts for 4 orders. I thought I'd visit this restaurant after work since I love pho and it's close to where I live. I mostly judge good pho based off of the taste of the broth and the meat. I ordered the large tendon and round steak pho (C6). The portion was good, but I did not enjoy the taste of the pho. the round steak cuts were good, but the tendon was overly chewy than what I'm used to having in my pho. After being slightly dissapointed by the pho I decided to try the taro bubble tea slushy. Can't go wrong with bubble tea, right? Wrong... The bubbles in my beverage was too chewy. The ice in the slushy wasn't grinded well so I ended up chewing on large chunks of ice. What's more is that you can literally taste the powder in the drink. Soup was good, healthy and flavorful not overpowering taste.Tho Pho soups are normally swimming in pork/beef fat and parts this soup is flavorful yet not fatty (fatty is what people mostly like and look for). Curry in Saigon is on the sweet side..and they have it just right. Staff spoke English well, clean, well-mannered, dressed proper and polite. If you want to venture to the exotic food of Vietnam (PHO) then this place is the best to try it out. They also have other choices in the menu with rice. About their CURRY...Vietnam and Thailand are neighboring countries and share similar food influences (just a twisted version).. Most Asian countries have their own CURRY version. From Malaysia ,Indonesia, Japan, Philippines, India, Thailand and Cambodia. So don't get discourage trying them to see for yourself. read more

The food was good BUT the service was not that great. The resturant wasn't busy and my glass of water didn't get refilled until we flagged him down after walking by three times. My friend ordered an app that came out incorrect and instead of saying I'm sorry it sounded like he was debating with the chef in front of us about what we ordered. It was a little uncomfortable. The current iteration is appalling, and the sooner they go out of business the sooner a decent restaurant can start serving the community. Negative 2 stars, that high just because I didn't get food poisoning. I've been coming here regularly with my coworkers for about eight years. Until about a year ago, it was great -- the pho, the addictive pork summer rolls, the shaky beef, you name it. Service was good; prices were decent. Then they closed, renovated, and reopened under new management. I've never seen such a dysfunctional restaurant, and I worked in the business for 15 years. They removed the summer rolls and shaky beef and other hits from the menu, and the stuff coming out of the kitchen was mediocre, noticeably smaller portions at a higher price, and very slow. The coup de grace was when I met a Vietnamese friend there; he had been waiting for 15-20 minutes when I got there. I sat down (we were the only customers in the place at weekday lunchtime) and we waited another 10-15 minutes without anyone coming over to talk to us. The waiter was on the phone the whole time. Finally, we went over and asked him WTF; he admitted that the cook and the other waitstaff hadn't shown up. It would have been nice to have told us this before a half hour wait. I swore to never come back. Last week, my friend begged me to go back, because they had banner and signs outside proclaiming that it was again under new management. With misgiving, I relented. Massive mistake. At first, it seemed that they had gone back to how things had been, as the menu items had returned, but we should have noticed that there were only two other tables in there at noon. We ordered two pork summer roll apps and two shaky beef entrees. Ten minutes later, the server came out and said they didn't have pork; would we like chicken? My friend said he'd have the fried spring rolls; I said I'd have to look at a menu. Didn't hear back from the waiter again. ten minutes later two orders of spring rolls came out. I said I hadn't ordered that; he then offered to bring a menu finally, and I declined, figuring I would just wait for the entree. Meanwhile, my friend discovered that the meat in his spring rolls was half raw and sent it back. Forty minutes after ordering, sitting there with only warm tap water with no ice, our entrees came out. They were half the size of the old shaky beef, and the flavor wasn't as good, but I was starving by then and started to eat it. Suddenly my mouth was on fire; for some reason there were now hot peppers in the recipe. Worse, some of the beef had a bizarre and disgusting mushy texture; it would dissolve into slime in your mouth. About this time my friend's appetizer showed up, apparently for dessert. During our stay, the single cook would periodically come out of the kitchen and look around and scratch himself; frankly, he really looked like a dirty and clueless skillet jockey from a dirty spoon diner in Salinas, California circa 1951. After all this, the manager come by to clear the plates and asked/told us that everything had been good. We told him of the problems (and he had already witnessed the previous service and food issues); he just mumbled and walked away. We got up to pay, and they didn't even bother to remove the $4.95 app from the bill. We gave the cashier $35 for a $34.86 bill, and left for the last time ever. As a longtime server and bartender, this is only the second time in my life I've stiffed a server. Everything was horrible -- service, food, wait times -- and no one expressed a single apology or explanation for anything. This business needs to die. read more

The prices are pretty good (i'm talking about pho soup-bowl orders only). This is hand's down some of the best Pho I've ever had. Do yourself a favor and try the Lemongrass Soup (Bun Bo Hue or number C13 on the menu)- it will rock your world. It's spicy and will clear your nose clean out, but has you gulping down that broth until you wonder where on earth the 40 ounces of soup you thought you could never finish went. The summer rolls are also amazing and very good for you- can't go wrong there! The first time we came to Viet Pho we had a restaurant.com gift certificate so we had to spend 35 dollars to use it. Don't try to spend 35 dollars there unless you come with a family of 6! After appetizers, entrees AND bubble tea we still had to order take out to get up to the 35 dollar mark. From now on, this is our go-to take out restaurant. My boyfriend and I find ourselves craving the lemongrass soup at least twice a month and it hardly puts a dent in our wallet to have not only dinner that night, but lunch and dinner for the next day as well!
