We had the pork bun and fried spring rolls to go. The bun was perfectly proportioned and everything was compartmentalised except the noodles, garnish and the pork, which we loved . The pork was nicely marinated and char grilled to perfection , great texture. All the vegetables we're very fresh and the whole meal,including the spring rolls,were very nicely garnished. The spring rolls were surprisingly hot and crispy even though they were packaged in styrophone with no vent holes and had to be transported around 8 minutes away. I'm Vietnamese and I come from a hometown that has plenty of Vietnamese restaurants and this one was okay. I had the rice with porkchops and fried egg and shrimp. The porkchop was small and has a little bit of flavor and the egg was perfectly cooked. The rice was a bit dry and the two shrimps that I paid 3 dollars extra for was alright. Unfortunately, the day I went they must have been short of help. I was served literally cold egg rolls. Sent them back and received 2 warmer ones. I've had better. And I ordered the crepe based on the reviews put forth by people here on Yelp. And was also disappointed in that. I've never had one before, so I have nothing to compare to you, but I would not try it again. I hate to leave a mediocre review, but I just can't justify a better one. Maybe it's because I've eaten Vietnamese food all over the US and most recently cooked for me by some Vietnamese friends who owned a restaurant in Dallas, but Viet Kitchen's food was pretty bland and lacking. I ordered shrimp and pork summer rolls, which lacked flavor and meat but had a lot of noodles. The peanut sauce was delicious. I ordered a pork and eggroll vermicelli bowl, which was also mostly noodles. I was actually really surprised at how little pork there was. The pork tasted good by itself, but once mixed with the noodles, all flavor was lost. I poured the entire bowl of sauce that came with the dish over it, and it still wasn't enough to add much flavor die to the quantity of noodles. I used to frequent a place in college with vermicelli bowls, but the bowls always had some broth included for flavor and moisture. The bowl here was basically summer roll ingredients without the rice wrapper, so dry and bland. I will give this place a second chance, because the pho seems to have good reviews and the server was very nice and sweet. Keep your fingers crossed that the pho can help me give viet kitchen at least another star! read more

Do yourself a favor and never come here. I've eaten a lot of Vietnamese food and I ordered the chargrilled beef over vermicelli and received hamburger meat instead. The chargrilled beef Po-Boy was also dry, ground meat and was disgusting and tasted foul. When I tried to let our waitress know, she smiled and laughed and walked away, completely ignoring us. Best Vietnamese on Northshore. Sometimes the amount of chicken is a little light in the Pho Ga, but the broth is always authentically flavored and they will graciously bring more fresh basil, cilantro, lime, etc. if you request. I have gone to Viet kitchen for quite some time now and the service has always been questionable. Today was more bizzare than any previous experience. I called to place an order from the online menu and as part of the order I asked for the kids portion vermicelli that is advertised on menuexpress. The waitress taking the order at this time proceeded to deny this being offered. When questioned why it's advertised online if not offered she became irrate and unprofessional. I asked to speak to a manager at which point she hung up. When calling back she again was unstable but placed the owner on the phone who barely spoke english. He too denied being able to honor what is again advertised on the business menuexpress. The previously mentioned unstable waitress could be heard in the background on a tangent of this special not being offered. The entire experience was surreal. Hopefully they can update their menu and replace this very unprofessional staff. The food is average but unfortunately not too many options for pho in the mandeville area. read more

They helped me select the best soup for her from there many options. Very good soup and affordable as well. After no Vietnamese joints on the Northshore for years there are now like 5 or 6 of them with most being awful. Viet Kitchen wasn't awful. The "egg rolls" appear to be Vietnamese Pork Rolls on the menu, but they're just generic spring roll things(lame). The pho had more meat than the other Northshore places. The brisket was tough, but there was plenty of tendon and there was plenty of raw round on the side. The broth was pretty weak. Wife had the Pho Ga which had better broth. Daughter had the Bun and it was a nice size, but the egg rolls were the same lame spring rolls. It ain't Dong Phuong or Pho Bang Metairie, but for the Northshore it's tolerable. I'll go back if I've gone without a trip to the East or Metairie in a couple weeks. read more
