We stopped by for dinner on Thursday before m Memorial Day weekend and we were pleased it wasn't too crowded. They were celebrating their one-year anniversary in this downtown Meredith location. What a great addition to the local eating establishments this place has been. Lots of drink choices and several drink specials including the house margarita, which we enjoyed. The food here is excellent with large portions, fresh ingredients, and a nice variety of apps and main courses to consider. The service is friendly and prompt. Expect to wait a bit on the weekend in the summer. Highly recommended!

Highly recommend, will be back! SERVICE/AMBIANCE: Nice & clean restaurant with comfortable ambiance! My husband and I sat at the bar & were immediately greeted, and given complimentary chips and salsa, both of which were very good. Staff was phenomenal, friendly, accommodating and interested in answering any questions. Restroom was clean, yay!!! we also got there early so we scored with on street parking! DRINKS: Skinny margarita & Long Island iced tea were very good and made the way that we had requested (not sweet). ***** home, made strawberry, blackberry and mango purée, which is unheard of exclamation, strawberry and blackberry. Both tasted phenomenal, we even mixed them together! Suggest a berry margarita combining strawberry, blackberry, and maybe raspberries esp in summer! FOOD: really good homemade house, soup & steak fajitas. Guacamole was very good. Refried beans were phenomenal, probably the best I've ever had with unique taste. Rice was also good & unique. SO WHY 4 STARS...suggest: -more diverse menu i.e. sampler/combo appetizer plate, adult menu burger, crispy chicken wings vs pic on menu smothered in sauce -combo app plate/platter -burger on adult menu -fajita for two with option of combo protein. -margarita salt instead of table salt -Option for salsa/picante, guacamole, and sour cream for fajitas & all meals available and noted on menu -Barstools could be sturdier & more comfortable.

This is a new restaurant from a small family owned group of restaurants in the White Mountains. So new in fact that when we came for dinner they were still hanging decor up on the wall and there were several Frida Kahlo portraits that lined the hallway to the bathroom waiting to be hung. The decor of the place is lovely and located in the historic core of Meredith. I can't stress how great the food is here. I usually think refried beans are a throwaway and don't eat much of them. Their refried beans are the best I've ever tasted and I could eat my them on their own. Beautifully seasoned. But everything I had was great. They brought us generous bowls of chips before the meal. We ordered the nachos which was huge and the chicken on it was yummy. I had the Camarones Tapatios and it was great but the beans and rice really took it over the top for me. The waitstaff were all really friendly and wonderful. Our waitress's English was a little limited but she was so friendly and everyone else spoke hood English. If you take your leftovers to go, just note that they charge a little bit for the take out containers. Also, if you pay in cash, the cash price is a few dollars less since they pass their credit card fee savings onto you. You won't be disappointed if you come here!

We have searched for an authentic Mexican Restaurant FOREVER in the Lakes Region and THIS IS IT! The first thing that you will notice is the extremely attentive and friendly staff. The food, amazing. I judge by Fajitas, and coming out sizzling with fresh meat and vegetables spiced to perfection is my favorite! The portion is so generous that I can count on lunch the next day. The array of Margaritas makes choosing difficult to pick a favorite, but when they are squeezing fresh cut fruit to create my personal beverage, the flavors dance on the pallet. There are no wrong choices!Very spacious bar seating, indoor tables, and outdoor seating on a canopy covered porch. Great job, please never change!!!

DELICIOUS! Tucked away, looks tiny when you walk in but a decent amount of seating when you turn the corner. Bright, festive decor. Drinks and food were plentiful and on point. Server was attentive and friendly. Can't wait to come back!

Friendly service and yummy margaritas... They are my friend, Carrie's, favorite around! We got takeout for four of us. Everyone enjoyed their meals. I chose a garlicy shrimp, which was covered with minced garlic and delicious! Everyone else seemed to enjoy their food as well. One person got steak fajitas and the other two got a cheesy chicken dish... Man, I should have written this review sooner while my memory of specific dish names was better. I would definitely consider dining here next time I find myself in Meredith!

The best carnitas ever. The margarita was mostly ice in a large martini glass. Could hardly taste the tequila

We were seated right away and given chips and salsa--the salsa was kind of bland, and the chips had no salt. Our waitress was very nice and attentive, which we appreciated. My wife ordered the enchilada combo with three different enchiladas. She doesn't like spicy food, and it turned out to be spicy, but no one mentioned that ahead of time. Still, she said it was good overall. I ordered the "pick three" combo with one side. It came on a giant plate (as you can see in the pictures). The tamale was decent but lacking flavor, the enchilada was okay and a little spicy (which I didn't mind), and the chimichanga was easily the best part of the meal--really good. The black beans were not good at all, though--they tasted off, almost sour, so I left them. For dessert, I got the churros to go. The menu doesn't say they're stuffed, but they were--filled with caramel and served with chocolate chip ice cream, hot fudge, and whipped cream. They were excellent. Prices were fair, and I'd probably go back, but it's not really my type of Mexican food. I prefer fresher Tex-Mex flavors, and this place leans more toward heavy cheese and sauces.

It was founded by a family of restaurateurs that includes Arpeet Shah, his wife Gabriele Hernandez, and brother-in-law Alan Romani. The family sought to bring authentic Mexican cuisine to the New Hampshire Lakes Region. The menu features of variety of Mexican dishes such as fajitas, burritos, tacos, chimichangas, quesadillas, enchiladas, as well as their signature crafted margaritas. A second location, dubbed Vida II, opened in Tilton in October 2021, but it was closed by late 2022. A third location, dubbed Vida at the Lake, opened in Meredith May 2022. The family also owns and operates Ensō Japanese Steakhouse in Meredith (opened June 2024) and Raíces Authentic Mexican Restaurant in Manchester (opened February 2025). My extended family and I visited the original Vida this past summer while we were visiting Funspot down the road. After a few hours at the arcade, we were getting hungry for lunch and looked on Yelp to see if there was a good restaurant nearby. Vida came highly recommended and we're glad that we decided to stop in. Most of us started off with a round of delicious margaritas. My wife had the "Fresca Strawberry Margarita" (1800 Silver tequila, triple sec, Gran Gala, fresh lime and fresh house strawberry purée) and I had the "Spicy Margarita" (Ghost Tequila, triple sec, Gran Gala, fresh lime and agave). We then ordered some freshly made guacamole for the table to share. For entrees, I had the "Taco Dinner" (three chorizo tacos, served w/ rice, beans, pico de gallo, fresh limes, grilled onions, jalapeño and salsa on the side), my wife had the "Shrimp Fajitas" (large grilled shrimp with onions, peppers and tomato, served on a sizzling skillet w/ rice, beans and salad), our older son had the "Kids Burrito & Taco", our younger son had the "Kids Corn Dog" (w/ fries). These dishes were super authentic! All of the ingredients tasted so fresh and flavorful. We're very happy to have discovered Vida Mexican Restaurant and we highly recommend them to anyone looking for authentic Mexican cuisine in the New Hampshire Lakes Region!

This unassuming restaurant does, however, punch above its weight when it comes to hospitality and reasonably-priced, enjoyable-enough Mexican-American food. They accommodated our enormous group of around 30 adults and children on short notice, and with grace. Food came out relatively quickly, though not surprisingly, given the size of our group, staggered in waves. Thin tortilla chips and a thin, almost tomato-sauce-like salsa were complimentary at the start of the meal. They weren't our cup of tea, but we appreciated this increasingly rare courtesy, and our subsequent side orders of guacamole were excellent. My Camarones al Mojo de Ajo ($21.95) were appropriately garlicky, the small, well-textured shrimp sautéed with plenty of onions and the tiny bits of garlic you typically get from a jar. Although the portion size wasn't quite as generous as those of my convives, the shrimp were imbued with flavor and overall enjoyable. The dish came with orange-tinged rice (a little hard and dry) and a salad of iceberg lettuce, chopped tomatoes, onions, and cilantro, with a bit more of that excellent guacamole tucked underneath. Some of our friends enjoyed enormous servings of chicken and steak fajitas. Others were less impressed by their burritos, which came drizzled with a Velveeta-like cheese sauce. Unfortunately, steak tacos came with flour tortillas -- not our preference -- but they were generously filled with flavorful (if slightly dry) steak. Cocktails were large and reportedly light on alcohol + sugary. Despite the rather dreary strip mall that El Tequila is tucked into, the inside is festive and cheerful, painted with colorful murals. A bar and large screen TVs line one side, making it an easy place to dine alone should you wish to do so. Would we eat here if the restaurant were in NYC? Probably not. But for a family- and group-friendly, casual restaurant in a NH town, population 7,000, we were more than pleased.

I had the carne asada with "two rib eye steaks". Also got a house margarita, only 7.99 was a real bargain, even though it was premixed. It didn't have that sour mix aftertaste that most house margs do. I couldn't request a doneness, because "they are really thin". The 2 steaks were about 1/8 of an inch thick and almost tough enough to repair a shoe. The beans were mostly liquid, there was a very small portion of rice and a surprisingly generous amount of guacamole on the chopped salad greens, 3 warm tortillas. I wrapped the steaks in the tortillas with the guac and greens, and asked for some hot sauce. It was in a ramekin, nothing to write home about. At the end of the night, I got my bill, the first total showed 30.44, the credit card slip showed 32.69. I asked why the discrepancy, she said the first bill didn't reflect the hot sauce, "it's homemade". I have eaten in a LOT of Mexican restaurants, never got an upcharge for hot sauce. Won't be rushing back, had hoped for an upgrade from the previous restaurant there, wishful thinking I guess.
