El Tequila Especial (Lunch), thin chicken w/ rice, refried beans and salad.
    David L.

El Tequila seems like a good place to satisfy your hunger for a reasonable price, but it's hard to say this is anything better than mediocre Mexican food. Some of our lunch dishes were better than others. Things started off well, with free chips and salsa - a puréed salsa with a nice touch of heat, but not too spicy. The El Tequila Especial was a very thin flavorfully seasoned chicken cutlet. Sliced and stuffed into flour tortillas with refried beans, this made for a nice lunch. The lunch burritos, on the hand, were dry and bland (both the chicken and ground beef). When the iceberg lettuce based salad (with diced onion and jalapeño) has more flavor than the burrito, something is off. The interior is decorated with bright colorful booths, tables and chairs, and very typical of American Tex-Mex restaurants. Given the scarcity of ethnic dining in the region, El Tequila is worth a try, but if you're a lover of fresh authentic Mexican cuisine, you may be a little disappointed.

Excellent tasting food, great service and charming decor & spacious dining room! So happy I found it in this shopping center, easy parking

Ive been coming here since they opened. Amazing food, Amazing service, the decor is great especially the new murals that's been painted since the last time I was here. Great Margarita, cocktail selection, and they will help you out with drinks that aren't on the menu. A large selection of tequila from 1800 to Don Julio 1942.

    Beef taco was out-standing.

Looked this up on yelp. No way there are enough stars. I haven't had Mexican food this good and well priced to boot, in a very long time. Fresh everything. Hot plates. I had the chicken enchilada beef taco combo and ordered an avocado as well. I yummed through the whole thing. Even the rice.. and I'm a rice snob. My partner was super happy as well. What a hidden gem in a strip mall. Gracias. Waiter was great as well. No minuses for me. 100 % Satisfied.

We were seated right away and given chips and salsa--the salsa was kind of bland, and the chips had no salt. Our waitress was very nice and attentive, which we appreciated. My wife ordered the enchilada combo with three different enchiladas. She doesn't like spicy food, and it turned out to be spicy, but no one mentioned that ahead of time. Still, she said it was good overall. I ordered the "pick three" combo with one side. It came on a giant plate (as you can see in the pictures). The tamale was decent but lacking flavor, the enchilada was okay and a little spicy (which I didn't mind), and the chimichanga was easily the best part of the meal--really good. The black beans were not good at all, though--they tasted off, almost sour, so I left them. For dessert, I got the churros to go. The menu doesn't say they're stuffed, but they were--filled with caramel and served with chocolate chip ice cream, hot fudge, and whipped cream. They were excellent. Prices were fair, and I'd probably go back, but it's not really my type of Mexican food. I prefer fresher Tex-Mex flavors, and this place leans more toward heavy cheese and sauces.

It was founded by a family of restaurateurs that includes Arpeet Shah, his wife Gabriele Hernandez, and brother-in-law Alan Romani. The family sought to bring authentic Mexican cuisine to the New Hampshire Lakes Region. The menu features of variety of Mexican dishes such as fajitas, burritos, tacos, chimichangas, quesadillas, enchiladas, as well as their signature crafted margaritas. A second location, dubbed Vida II, opened in Tilton in October 2021, but it was closed by late 2022. A third location, dubbed Vida at the Lake, opened in Meredith May 2022. The family also owns and operates Ensō Japanese Steakhouse in Meredith (opened June 2024) and Raíces Authentic Mexican Restaurant in Manchester (opened February 2025). My extended family and I visited the original Vida this past summer while we were visiting Funspot down the road. After a few hours at the arcade, we were getting hungry for lunch and looked on Yelp to see if there was a good restaurant nearby. Vida came highly recommended and we're glad that we decided to stop in. Most of us started off with a round of delicious margaritas. My wife had the "Fresca Strawberry Margarita" (1800 Silver tequila, triple sec, Gran Gala, fresh lime and fresh house strawberry purée) and I had the "Spicy Margarita" (Ghost Tequila, triple sec, Gran Gala, fresh lime and agave). We then ordered some freshly made guacamole for the table to share. For entrees, I had the "Taco Dinner" (three chorizo tacos, served w/ rice, beans, pico de gallo, fresh limes, grilled onions, jalapeño and salsa on the side), my wife had the "Shrimp Fajitas" (large grilled shrimp with onions, peppers and tomato, served on a sizzling skillet w/ rice, beans and salad), our older son had the "Kids Burrito & Taco", our younger son had the "Kids Corn Dog" (w/ fries). These dishes were super authentic! All of the ingredients tasted so fresh and flavorful. We're very happy to have discovered Vida Mexican Restaurant and we highly recommend them to anyone looking for authentic Mexican cuisine in the New Hampshire Lakes Region!

Served the traditional "complimentary" chips and salsa which were good. I ordered the large 22 oz draft Bud Light (not sure it actually holds that much) and a little shocked it was $11 very over priced in my opinion . Wife had the speciality Skinny Margarita for $15.50 she enjoyed it. I had a second beer (not knowing the cost lol). Wife had the Hibiscus Margarita. $15.50 which she also enjoyed. Dinner- Wife had the Grilled Chicken Fajita Quesadilla (generous portion). She liked it and had plenty of leftovers for lunch the next day. I had the Fajitas Vida-it was a lot of food. with 3 tiny flour tortillas (could easily double). Decent taste, don't think I would get it again though. Everything was mixed together in sauce, which I thought was a little odd, but nice presentation. They may want to consider closing off the open space from the outdoor sitting and the bar. It's a smaller restaurant and with the big opening it allows for bugs to fly in. Had to shew off a few flies several times and I noticed the customers next to us doing the same.. Definitely coming from outside, the restaurant appears very clean!

I had the carne asada with "two rib eye steaks". Also got a house margarita, only 7.99 was a real bargain, even though it was premixed. It didn't have that sour mix aftertaste that most house margs do. I couldn't request a doneness, because "they are really thin". The 2 steaks were about 1/8 of an inch thick and almost tough enough to repair a shoe. The beans were mostly liquid, there was a very small portion of rice and a surprisingly generous amount of guacamole on the chopped salad greens, 3 warm tortillas. I wrapped the steaks in the tortillas with the guac and greens, and asked for some hot sauce. It was in a ramekin, nothing to write home about. At the end of the night, I got my bill, the first total showed 30.44, the credit card slip showed 32.69. I asked why the discrepancy, she said the first bill didn't reflect the hot sauce, "it's homemade". I have eaten in a LOT of Mexican restaurants, never got an upcharge for hot sauce. Won't be rushing back, had hoped for an upgrade from the previous restaurant there, wishful thinking I guess.

The only problem with the place, is that, they don't have a parking lot. Plenty of street parking, but the road is a busy one, so use caution. The inside is beautifully decorated and has a nice Hispanic vibe. They have a mug club you can be apart of. They have a good size bar, a few tables and a few booths. It's not huge inside, so when they are busy, there is little room to wait. We arrived with a party of 17, when it was supposed to be 10. They were very accommodating and easy to work with. They had our group rearrange once to get them a few more tables, which was perfectly fine. They deliver chips and homemade salsa , as soon as you sit down at the table. The server had short blondish hair, with glasses and a cute little pin on their apron. She was delightful and efficient, considering our party was so large. The food doesn't come right out, like most other Mexican restaurants. It took a bit of time. The food came out fresh, and delicious. We got a steak quesadilla and a chimichanga. The proteins they had on the menu, were so good. We tried steak, chicken, and beef items, and none were dried out, it wasn't all fatty, and it had flavor! You got your choice of black beans or refried beans and rice with most dishes. Someone in our party also got the churro dessert, that was so so dang good !!! There were several different checks and the server was so good about it, and didn't mess anything up! They were really awesome, and the bartender kept coming over to check on as well. There were other servers there as well, assisting where they could. They really seemed to be working more as a unit, then separately. All around, great food, great service, and great atmosphere!! Well done !!! We were there to celebrate our family's matriarch, whose birthday landed on Cinco De Mayo. She passed in February, and we were a large party of family there to celebrate her!!!
