We were seated right away and given chips and salsa--the salsa was kind of bland, and the chips had no salt. Our waitress was very nice and attentive, which we appreciated. My wife ordered the enchilada combo with three different enchiladas. She doesn't like spicy food, and it turned out to be spicy, but no one mentioned that ahead of time. Still, she said it was good overall. I ordered the "pick three" combo with one side. It came on a giant plate (as you can see in the pictures). The tamale was decent but lacking flavor, the enchilada was okay and a little spicy (which I didn't mind), and the chimichanga was easily the best part of the meal--really good. The black beans were not good at all, though--they tasted off, almost sour, so I left them. For dessert, I got the churros to go. The menu doesn't say they're stuffed, but they were--filled with caramel and served with chocolate chip ice cream, hot fudge, and whipped cream. They were excellent. Prices were fair, and I'd probably go back, but it's not really my type of Mexican food. I prefer fresher Tex-Mex flavors, and this place leans more toward heavy cheese and sauces.

It was founded by a family of restaurateurs that includes Arpeet Shah, his wife Gabriele Hernandez, and brother-in-law Alan Romani. The family sought to bring authentic Mexican cuisine to the New Hampshire Lakes Region. The menu features of variety of Mexican dishes such as fajitas, burritos, tacos, chimichangas, quesadillas, enchiladas, as well as their signature crafted margaritas. A second location, dubbed Vida II, opened in Tilton in October 2021, but it was closed by late 2022. A third location, dubbed Vida at the Lake, opened in Meredith May 2022. The family also owns and operates Ensō Japanese Steakhouse in Meredith (opened June 2024) and Raíces Authentic Mexican Restaurant in Manchester (opened February 2025). My extended family and I visited the original Vida this past summer while we were visiting Funspot down the road. After a few hours at the arcade, we were getting hungry for lunch and looked on Yelp to see if there was a good restaurant nearby. Vida came highly recommended and we're glad that we decided to stop in. Most of us started off with a round of delicious margaritas. My wife had the "Fresca Strawberry Margarita" (1800 Silver tequila, triple sec, Gran Gala, fresh lime and fresh house strawberry purée) and I had the "Spicy Margarita" (Ghost Tequila, triple sec, Gran Gala, fresh lime and agave). We then ordered some freshly made guacamole for the table to share. For entrees, I had the "Taco Dinner" (three chorizo tacos, served w/ rice, beans, pico de gallo, fresh limes, grilled onions, jalapeño and salsa on the side), my wife had the "Shrimp Fajitas" (large grilled shrimp with onions, peppers and tomato, served on a sizzling skillet w/ rice, beans and salad), our older son had the "Kids Burrito & Taco", our younger son had the "Kids Corn Dog" (w/ fries). These dishes were super authentic! All of the ingredients tasted so fresh and flavorful. We're very happy to have discovered Vida Mexican Restaurant and we highly recommend them to anyone looking for authentic Mexican cuisine in the New Hampshire Lakes Region!

This unassuming restaurant does, however, punch above its weight when it comes to hospitality and reasonably-priced, enjoyable-enough Mexican-American food. They accommodated our enormous group of around 30 adults and children on short notice, and with grace. Food came out relatively quickly, though not surprisingly, given the size of our group, staggered in waves. Thin tortilla chips and a thin, almost tomato-sauce-like salsa were complimentary at the start of the meal. They weren't our cup of tea, but we appreciated this increasingly rare courtesy, and our subsequent side orders of guacamole were excellent. My Camarones al Mojo de Ajo ($21.95) were appropriately garlicky, the small, well-textured shrimp sautéed with plenty of onions and the tiny bits of garlic you typically get from a jar. Although the portion size wasn't quite as generous as those of my convives, the shrimp were imbued with flavor and overall enjoyable. The dish came with orange-tinged rice (a little hard and dry) and a salad of iceberg lettuce, chopped tomatoes, onions, and cilantro, with a bit more of that excellent guacamole tucked underneath. Some of our friends enjoyed enormous servings of chicken and steak fajitas. Others were less impressed by their burritos, which came drizzled with a Velveeta-like cheese sauce. Unfortunately, steak tacos came with flour tortillas -- not our preference -- but they were generously filled with flavorful (if slightly dry) steak. Cocktails were large and reportedly light on alcohol + sugary. Despite the rather dreary strip mall that El Tequila is tucked into, the inside is festive and cheerful, painted with colorful murals. A bar and large screen TVs line one side, making it an easy place to dine alone should you wish to do so. Would we eat here if the restaurant were in NYC? Probably not. But for a family- and group-friendly, casual restaurant in a NH town, population 7,000, we were more than pleased.

Served the traditional "complimentary" chips and salsa which were good. I ordered the large 22 oz draft Bud Light (not sure it actually holds that much) and a little shocked it was $11 very over priced in my opinion . Wife had the speciality Skinny Margarita for $15.50 she enjoyed it. I had a second beer (not knowing the cost lol). Wife had the Hibiscus Margarita. $15.50 which she also enjoyed. Dinner- Wife had the Grilled Chicken Fajita Quesadilla (generous portion). She liked it and had plenty of leftovers for lunch the next day. I had the Fajitas Vida-it was a lot of food. with 3 tiny flour tortillas (could easily double). Decent taste, don't think I would get it again though. Everything was mixed together in sauce, which I thought was a little odd, but nice presentation. They may want to consider closing off the open space from the outdoor sitting and the bar. It's a smaller restaurant and with the big opening it allows for bugs to fly in. Had to shew off a few flies several times and I noticed the customers next to us doing the same.. Definitely coming from outside, the restaurant appears very clean!

I had the carne asada with "two rib eye steaks". Also got a house margarita, only 7.99 was a real bargain, even though it was premixed. It didn't have that sour mix aftertaste that most house margs do. I couldn't request a doneness, because "they are really thin". The 2 steaks were about 1/8 of an inch thick and almost tough enough to repair a shoe. The beans were mostly liquid, there was a very small portion of rice and a surprisingly generous amount of guacamole on the chopped salad greens, 3 warm tortillas. I wrapped the steaks in the tortillas with the guac and greens, and asked for some hot sauce. It was in a ramekin, nothing to write home about. At the end of the night, I got my bill, the first total showed 30.44, the credit card slip showed 32.69. I asked why the discrepancy, she said the first bill didn't reflect the hot sauce, "it's homemade". I have eaten in a LOT of Mexican restaurants, never got an upcharge for hot sauce. Won't be rushing back, had hoped for an upgrade from the previous restaurant there, wishful thinking I guess.

Turns out, they're fairly new and a welcomed addition to an area that's primarily filled with biker bars. It's all outdoor seating and the vibes are on point. Gorgeous wood tables, larger wrap-around booths with built in fire pits, bar seating, tea lights, and more. They're also completely dog friendly so feel free to bring your furry friends! The prices are a little more "city" in the middle of the lake region which is the only downfall, but you get what you pay for and everything was incredible! We started with margaritas which were fresh and flavorful. At $15, it's the most I've paid for a margarita really anywhere besides NYC, but it was very good. You could taste (and see) the real lime juice - no mix here. We then decided to order a little bit of everything: from the infamous house fries, to tacos, and fried chicken sliders. Everything was AMAZING. Each item was fresh and you could taste all the flavors in each dish! I can't get over how incredible everything was! Staff was so sweet and friendly. We came on a Monday evening in the summer and got a table easily. It's first come first served but there are plenty of options and an area to just hang out while you wait for a table to open. Also, great playlist playing too! Great vibes all around - just wish we lived nearby to visit again!!
