    Chicken 65
    Nick P.

I saw this place is pretty close to us and it had high ratings. I've been to a bunch of Indian restaurants already so I'm no novice to the cuisine. When I look at the menu, I try to look for dishes that I've never had. I know our waiter suggested butter chicken and chicken tikka masala, but those are the most popular safe dishes for non Indians. I say safe dishes because your average American that walks in, is not going to order something that he/she doesn't know what it is. We ordered chicken 65, kashmiri naan, spinach chicken, kadhai lamb, and tandoori shrimp. Just a FYI, the water bottle(s) that come to your table are $2 each. They're not free. Portion sizes are average. Prices were fair. Service was great and attentive. Usually, there would be parking in the front and back. However, for some reason they were both full and there were barely any customers inside the restaurant. You can also park at the nearby parking garage (top level). That's a 2 min walk. -chicken 65 5 - this reminds me of a Chinese dish but I can't remember. I'm talking about the texture when you're eating it. As an Indian appetizer, it was delicious and would pair well with rice. Very addicting to eat. -kashmiri naan 5 - it has a mild sweet taste that is good with savory dishes. A mixture of dried fruits, coconut, and maybe nuts. -spinach chicken 5 - chicken was very tender and the sauce was flavorful. Very safe dish to eat if you're not that adventurous. -kadhai lamb 5 - the sauce has a more bold flavor than the spinach chicken. The lamb was very good. -tandoori shrimp 5 - Just a warning but this is kind of spicy especially for those that can't handle spicy foods. I like that the shrimp are prawn size and they were very tasty.

The lentil soup was perfection, and had a good kick to it as well. I ordered my food to go and had to ask for utensils, they didn't have any to go spoons but that didn't stop me from loving the soup!

Tandoori chicken, bone-in. Best ever. We were addicted.

WOWNot from Naperville. Stopped in after Morten Arboretum because it was a little less pricey compared to other Indian places there. We've been to so many Indian restaurants. Place wowed us. We were oohing and ahing it was so dang tasty. Chicken tandoori, butter chicken medium, lamb biryani, naan, palak paneer--everything, and I mean everything, even the naan was flavor bombed as much as possible. When I say it has great food I took the time to make sure you know. AND the waiter and manager were very kind, accommodating and attentive. Food was quick. All four of us were truly impressed. Best food and a few dollars less than all of the other Indian restaurants--go! We're foodies and we know food. That butter chicken and tandoori chicken was nirvana. No joke.

We dined at Viceroy for dinner when it first opened back in March. Plenty of open tables - we were actually the only diners there and a couple of people came in for pick up. We had the samosas for appetizers and then an order of butter chicken and lamb tikka masala. All the dishes were seasoned well and rich flavor. We look forward to dining there again.

Great food!! Always love the food, crisp clean and tasty!! I've eaten here so many times!

Had a great meal with family! The food was delicious and the service was fantastic! I had the tandoori shrimp which was a generous portion and had quite a kick of heat! The samosas were a great starter and we enjoyed the garlic naan and basmati rice. They even gave us mango ice cream on the house after our meal. I believe they are also BYOB! Will definitely be back to try more!

Wow! So delicious! I'm vegetarian and there were tons of options. I ordered pickup on my lunch break and food was hot and ready when I picked it up. Mutter Paneer was creamy and spicy. Delicious! I didn't eat in but the ambiance seemed nice for a sit down meal, too. Man at register was friendly.

Food was really good! Very flavorful! Butter chicken is a bit sweet but I got it spicy and it was such a great balance! First time trying this place and I will definitely be back. Samosas were very big and crunchy! Service was really good as well! Everything is fresh and made to order!

The food is spectacular! The service is prompt, professional and polite. The menu has a great variety that accommodates our vegetarian family members and our non-vegetarian family members. The atmosphere is welcoming and refined. Prices are affordable. Of the 10+ Indian Restaurants on our list of favorites in Naperville, The Viceroy is our new #1.

Food was really good! We got the chicken korma and chicken tikka masala which were great, the garlic butter naan is so good and fresh! Service was good and timely. I like that you can customize spice level, even mild is going to be spicy but it's still tolerable. Got gajar halwa for dessert and it was yummy. Would go again

    Chicken tika Masala
    Smith G.

The food was delicious. I visited during the soft opening, so it wasn't too crowded. The cuisine is Northern Indian. The chicken tikka masala was good. The chicken was tender and the sauce was creamy. The nana was made in-house and homemade. The garlic butter nann was good. It had garlic minced on top, but it wasn't too garlicy. The chili nann was spicy, but you could taste the fresh jalapeño.

Food-wise, we were happy with our selections. We started with the Babai Punugulu. I can't tell you what it was b/c the description only said: A south indian snack enjoyed on the street side, served hot with house chutneys. I can't tell you if there was meat / protein / veggie in it or not. TBH - the menu should have described it a bit more - but it was good and we enjoyed the chutneys that came with it. Having just looked it up online - they are: golden, bite-sized fritters are made from a fermented batter of rice and urad dal mixed with onions, green chilies, and cumin. For entrees - we got the Butter Tikka Masala (w/ chicken) and Rogan Josh (w/ lamb). We asked for them spicy and I thought the spice level was good, but we could have gone spicier - but one never knows. It came with white rice and we ordered a garlic naan. The naan had a good amount of garlic on it so quite good. We enjoyed both of our entrees - I might have gone chicken for mine instead of lamb next time. The sauces for both dishes were really good and plentiful. The only drawback is the ordering / menu. It's on your phone (no menu in the restaurant) - which makes it hard b/c the phone is small - and you literally have to click on each dish to know what it is. Took a while to order. I would recommend having a hard copy menu - or changing the online portion where you can see the descriptions easily w/o having to click on each one. Overall - a great place with good food.

Good Food, But the Difference in Service Was Hard to Ignore…read more My daughter and I visited on August 30th, and I deliberately waited a few days before writing this review because I wanted to be fair about our experience. We have lived in this area for almost four years after moving from the East Coast. We consider ourselves foodies, especially when it comes to international cuisine, and have explored several Indian restaurants throughout the Naperville area. I first discovered this restaurant when ordering takeout. During that visit, a gentleman whom I believe was the manager was exceptionally kind and even allowed us to sample a few items from the buffet. I told him I would return, and I did. Unfortunately, our dine-in experience was very different. After being seated, we received water, but no one returned to check on us. I finished my first plate, and my daughter finished hers before the naan and tandoori chicken were brought to our table approximately 20 minutes later. I am vegetarian, so the chicken wasn't important to me, but we had almost forgotten about the naan by the time it arrived. My daughter also ordered a simple tea. The waiter acknowledged her order, but the tea never came. What concerned us most was watching what happened with the customers who arrived after us. As new customers were seated, we repeatedly heard the sizzling tandoori chicken being brought to their tables, along with naan, within minutes. My back was turned, but my daughter could see the room and began noticing how quickly the other tables were being served. Meanwhile, no one returned to ours to ask the most basic customer-service question: "How is everything? Do you need anything?" My daughter and I were the only Black/African American customers in the restaurant at the time. I am not claiming to know anyone's intentions, but I would be dishonest if I said the noticeable difference in service didn't make us wonder why our table was being treated differently. We frequently dine at Indian and other international restaurants where we may be the only African American customers present, and that has never been an issue. What made this experience uncomfortable was the obvious difference in the level of service we received compared with the service provided to those around us. Before leaving, I quietly spoke with the gentleman at the register, whom I believe was the manager. When our waiter approached, the manager asked him why my daughter's drink had never been brought. The waiter apologized and appeared ready to get her a tea to go, but by then I declined. I want to acknowledge the manager for his sincere, respectful, and genuine apology. He explained that they were short-staffed because someone had not shown up for work. I appreciated the way he handled my concern, and he is the primary reason I chose not to leave a one-star review. However, being short-staffed does not fully explain why customers who arrived after us, received prompt service while our table was repeatedly overlooked. In a restaurant, teamwork should help fill those gaps. I worked as a waitress many years ago; I am a professional writer, and I own my own business. I know what good customer service looks like, and I understand the importance of how people are treated when they choose to spend their money with your business. The food was good. The service experience was not. After giving it considerable thought, I don't believe I would return for their weekend buffet. There are many Indian restaurants in the Naperville area, and good food alone isn't enough when a dining experience leaves you questioning why your table received a noticeably different level of service. I may consider ordering takeout again because I did enjoy the food, and I sincerely appreciate the manager for listening to my concerns. I hope management receives this review in the spirit in which it is written: not simply as criticism, but as an opportunity to make sure every customer who walks through that door receives the same respect, attention, and hospitality. In comparison, excellent food and customer service have kept me coming back to A2B, Shimla Peppers, Indian Harvest, and Bombay Chopsticks (which also offers an excellent buffet). Unfortunately, after this experience, I don't believe I will add Cuisine of India to my list of favorite restaurants or recommend it to friends or others in the area. Because in business, you never truly know who has just walked through your door. Never judge a book by its cover. You don't know who they are. By Author P
