One of the hidden gems in naperville downtown for Indian cuisine. Flavorful is one word to describe food. Tried paya soup -10/10, Shrimp - 10/10, Paneer tikka - 10/10, Sheekh kebab - 10/10, Naan (super soft)- 11/10. clean and neat ambience, service was friendly. I saw this place is pretty close to us and it had high ratings. I've been to a bunch of Indian restaurants already so I'm no novice to the cuisine. When I look at the menu, I try to look for dishes that I've never had. I know our waiter suggested butter chicken and chicken tikka masala, but those are the most popular safe dishes for non Indians. I say safe dishes because your average American that walks in, is not going to order something that he/she doesn't know what it is. We ordered chicken 65, kashmiri naan, spinach chicken, kadhai lamb, and tandoori shrimp. Just a FYI, the water bottle(s) that come to your table are $2 each. They're not free. Portion sizes are average. Prices were fair. Service was great and attentive. Usually, there would be parking in the front and back. However, for some reason they were both full and there were barely any customers inside the restaurant. You can also park at the nearby parking garage (top level). That's a 2 min walk. -chicken 65 5 - this reminds me of a Chinese dish but I can't remember. I'm talking about the texture when you're eating it. As an Indian appetizer, it was delicious and would pair well with rice. Very addicting to eat. -kashmiri naan 5 - it has a mild sweet taste that is good with savory dishes. A mixture of dried fruits, coconut, and maybe nuts. -spinach chicken 5 - chicken was very tender and the sauce was flavorful. Very safe dish to eat if you're not that adventurous. -kadhai lamb 5 - the sauce has a more bold flavor than the spinach chicken. The lamb was very good. -tandoori shrimp 5 - Just a warning but this is kind of spicy especially for those that can't handle spicy foods. The lentil soup was perfection, and had a good kick to it as well. I ordered my food to go and had to ask for utensils, they didn't have any to go spoons but that didn't stop me from loving the soup! read more

WOWNot from Naperville. Stopped in after Morten Arboretum because it was a little less pricey compared to other Indian places there. We've been to so many Indian restaurants. Place wowed us. We were oohing and ahing it was so dang tasty. Chicken tandoori, butter chicken medium, lamb biryani, naan, palak paneer--everything, and I mean everything, even the naan was flavor bombed as much as possible. When I say it has great food I took the time to make sure you know. AND the waiter and manager were very kind, accommodating and attentive. Food was quick. All four of us were truly impressed. We dined at Viceroy for dinner when it first opened back in March. Plenty of open tables - we were actually the only diners there and a couple of people came in for pick up. We had the samosas for appetizers and then an order of butter chicken and lamb tikka masala. All the dishes were seasoned well and rich flavor. We look forward to dining there again. read more

Had a great meal with family! The food was delicious and the service was fantastic! I had the tandoori shrimp which was a generous portion and had quite a kick of heat! The samosas were a great starter and we enjoyed the garlic naan and basmati rice. They even gave us mango ice cream on the house after our meal. I believe they are also BYOB! I met friends here at their suggestion and loved it. This Indian restaurant is great. The food and service really good and added bonus: they have their own parking lot in back. A real find in downtown Naper. We ordered several dishes, including the Goan Fish and Chicken Korma. Loved them both. It's always a gamble to order fish at a restaurant that isn't really known for seafood, but I really enjoyed my dish The restaurant is really bright and cheery and easy to get a table. I can feel and taste the knife cuts and spices. It's great through and through. I only order out something (while have cooked before) don't want to spend all day making it.. This place bridges the gap and makes it convenient. It's not gloopy green red or yellow blob on naan. It's real ingredients that you can see and taste with 3/4 layers of texture and flavor. Aloo Tikki Chaat may be the best leftovers in your fridge. And of course butter chicken lives up to the butter name. Take the sauce and have breakfast on grilled toast and enjoy your day. Best Indian I've had in Naperville by far. Chefs know chefs and this restaurant cares about each dish. Delicious. My wife and friends go to Viceroy almost every week. The best gem of a food place in all of downtown naperville. Their entire menu has been a slow and amazing journey in flavor. The Malai Kofta has the best flavor sauce, but some days the Kormas are so crave-worthy we cannot decide what is best. There is a fish curry I get regularly, and the lamb options are indulgent. My wife and I went to Viceroy with a couple of friends for the first time tonight. Wow! The service and food were outstanding! Not only did we enjoy each of our entrees and a couple of appetizers (soup & naan)!, the service was great! The Viceroy staff were very accommodating to my wife who has a severe dairy allergy and all went very well! We will definitely return to this restaurant to enjoy more of the choices on the menu! Food is so so good...very fresh and full of flavor. It seemed like it was family run and very cozy. The waitress (maybe owner?) was incredibly sweet. The one thing that is lacking that can't be changed now is the name...not sure what it brings to the table since Viceroy has a Latin origin.
