Maybe i'm just unlucky. have not had good fresh food here. the sweets jahngiri coconut barfi tasted stale. We had catered from here once for a baby shower and the obbattu had mold. not appetizing at all. the owner was very apologetic when we called to let them know our disappointment. So i felt bad for them. Another time masala vadai had a stapler pin. Luckily I didn't give that to my toddler. I don't know how our experience was so bad. Have been here twice despite the long drive from my house. Wish this one is closer to where I live. I loved fresh Dosa and Idilis which made from the rice and tasted fantastic when made fresh. A tiny take out place where the young cashiers speak pefect English but need to turn their heads to ask grandpa or grandma for any food questions. The first time, I only ate one plain Dosa and took Uthapam home. The Dosa was excellent: huge and crispy with the right chutney. The Uthappam was just OK when we ate at home. So when I took my son to this place second time, we only order the plain Dosa and an sweet pancake and ate those right there. He finished most of those so that says something. I loved both of them. The only thing is I forgot my coffee but they don't have the masala tea! Wish they could have some hot drinks with the tasty Dosa. Another reminder is that this is a Vegetarian place. i felt a bit bad when I asked them if they have the Goat curry to go then they told me they only serve vegeterian food. The food is good , but three times in a row now - the medu vadas were double fried. Not fresh! This last time I had to squeeze out the excess oil - and it literally drenched the entire tissue paper. Visited again in Feb 2019. V V bad experience. Bought some snacks - and as the cashier was getting my card processed - slipped a piece of one of them - and YUCK - it was OLD STALE and TASTED AWFUL. Told her this is bad - and her reply "THIS IS NOT TRY AND BUY" - And when I asked even if it is bad - you expect the customer to take it ? - Her response - YES. Great place for South Indian vegetarian take out. All the usual South Indian staples like Dosa, Idly, Pongal, Vada are done well. They have freshly made sweets and savories in display cases. Holding back 1 star for the following reasons: 1. Depending on who's at the counter, it can be a really friendly experience or brusque, bordering on rude. 2. They do not update their website on the rolling takeout menu. So, you have to ask them about it every time you call. 3. They have an opportunity to feature dishes that are unique to certain times of year and festivals. They don't because apparently they are too busy with catering orders. read more

Although very unassuming, this place is a little hidden gem for excellent dosas & South Indian snacks. It was my first time trying a dosa and I loved it! We tried the mysore masala dosa (filled with spiced potatoes) and the chili & onion uthapam. All had amazing flavors and came with a sambar (veggie stew) and a coconut chutney. There's also a variety of other curries, snacks, and desserts as well. The staff was pretty friendly and had good recommendations since it was my first time there. This place has awesome homemade food. The vadas, sambar, chutney and their meal items like Rasam, curries, dals are authentic. Their sweets are awesome especially the Badam Puri. We absolutely love their food. We live in the city and drive to the burbs for over an hour just to eat here. Their South Indian is best in the Chicago area and for reasonable prices. Food is fresh, clean and very authentic. I would just wish they would wipe down their tables more often. There is not a lot of place to sit and though the premises are generally clean, they don't wipe tables down after. It is a definitely not a sit down place, I have always seen tons of people doing take out. I would do it more too if it was in the city. I'm not exactly positive how much each thing I bought was, but I got a masala dosa, okra curry, and another dish i forget what is called!!! My total was $17 for a good amount of food. Enough to satisfy two adults. Everything was amazing and spiced to perfection. Mainly just a take out/carry out type of deal at Sri Krishna. There is limited seating if you wish to stay and eat your meal, you may have to share a table with other fellow patrons. Overall-- amazing. We ordered only 6 items. They forgot to deliver one; their excuse was that they forgot and left the food in the boot. We had to run around a few times just to get in touch with them- at one point they wouldn't even answer the phone and we had to drive to their business to talk to them. They charged heftily for this poor service. The food that was delivered, tasted good. Still, I'm not sure that the food is worth the stress of dealing with them. Our perfect pick up place for South Indian food. We drive 30 minutes to pick up from here and we have no regrets. We certainly wish it was closer. The kids do a great job as well the elders. The price is perfect. In over 25 times we have ordered, they haven't messed up anything. Touch wood! Really good food, I recommend it. There are some pros and cons. First I will say the pros, because I believe this place deserves business. They seem to be a family run business with the children helping out. They are working hard, and the food tastes good. Cons: they are very small...there's really only 2 or 3 tables to sit at, and they are crammed together. I recommend carry out. Just ordered about half an hour ago and came to pick up the order since I was told it would be ready in half an hour. I go in and am told that the order was misplaced and they will do it in 10 mins. The best south Indian food in illinois. Also great price. We always come here when we want the best south indian. Great service. They have a few seats to dine in but many do take out. Sometimes you share the table with another family but it doesn't matter the food is amazing. They only provide water to drink so maybe taking in your own drinks would be a good idea. This place just has the best Dosa ever it just takes you back home. It's simple place nothing fancy about it but it's like having dosa at your home. Staff is very polite smiling and helpful. Service is fairly quick and their food is amazing. If you can handle spicy their Mysore masala dosa is a must have. Yesterday my hubby tried their poori with sabji and he enjoyed it poori is unusual in shape as its cut like pizza slice. Their uttapam are classic home made. I had the worst experience ever from this place. I had placed my order over an hour before I went to pick it up. It was a large order and when I placed the order they said it would be ready within 30 minutes. I had also made sure that they had everything I am ordering and there would be no surprise when I come to pick up the food. The person said it will all be ready in 30 minutes. I showed up to pick up the food an hour later and the food was not ready and the person said it would take another 15 minutes. This is the most unorganized catering place. Nothing seems to be in places. The teens that worked their had no clue what was going on. They were mixing up everyone's orders there were many other customers whose orders were either mixed with someone else's or were missing items. I had alot of items missing from the order when I asked the person that worked there she said "ohh we must have ran out of it" I was really disappointed at that time. Today evening went there to buy few items. The vada we were given was stale and when I told the lady at the front desk,she just ignored and disrespected me. They used to be good. My family ordered carryout of their medhu vada and idli with sambhar for 8 years. But they have been going downhill recently. Sometimes the vada is too burnt, there was that one time my idlis were flat disks, and a lot of the time the sambar is way too watery. It's a gamble to order from there nowadays and my family will be looking elsewhere when we crave south Indian food. read more
