Looking for something tasty in the are, we ended up at Bollywood Bistro... boy did the heavens smile on us! The decor is very spare and clean. It's different a fusion of industrial and East Asian chic. Very, very nice! We were immediately greeted and provided with a seat I love Indian food, but I wasn't familiar with some of the dishes so we tried a few different things. Everything was delicious! The chickpea stew, puffy bread, and samosas were my favorite! The sauces were all delicious as well. What a wonderful little gem! I wish I lived nearby. I would be here every week. We had the opportunity to meet the chef. He was so humble and friendly. We told him how much we enjoyed the food, and he seemed genuinely pleased to hear it. This place is average, not very bad when it comes to food, but the attitude and rules are fit for a Michelin star restaurant. They have absolutely no intention to satisfy customers, ambiance is well just tables and chairs with some posters. I have been to many restaurants where food is not that great but the customer service is top notch and for that I give them credit, but at this place they turned out every small request we made for food for our small kid, we didn't ask for anything for free, we asked to customize, which they straight turned down, they have nothing that is kid friendly here. My friends and I were craving authentic Indian food and hence decided to visit Bollywood Bistro. Everything about this place is VERY good and I'm not hyping up. We ordered a lot of dishes - Vada Pav, Paneer Butter Masala with Garlic Naan, Dal Makhani with Missi Roti, Amritsari Chole with Kulcha, babycorn manchurian. In my past visit, I've also tried their Pav Bhaji, Sarson da Saag, Chole Bhature and Sizzlers. There is no comparison for food in terms to taste, it's simply the best at Bollywood Bistro. I love that they have very unique dishes like Missi Roti and Sarson Da Saag which is not easily available at many Indian restaurants. My friends and I were very satiated with our meal and surprisingly we ate everything without the need to box any dish. I'm definitely coming back to try more dishes on their menu. Oh wow this may be the best Indian food I've had in over a decade ... a delicious Amritsari Kulcha Chole, garlic naan. When I walked in, I really had no idea what I wanted. I explained to the young man at the register that I was hungry and like spicy food. When he began to recommend a few things, I could tell he was truly passionate about his food. Bollywood Bistro- I have been following this chef when he was an owner of Bollywood Cafe in some Grocery store. Hands down the best vegetarian food I have had. With being extremely busy and surrounded by rude customers( at least the one before me) he came to our table and spoke to us in a very polite way. We were impressed by how much passionate he was for cooking. We were four of us and all of us recommended everything, starting from their Bhaji quesadillas, Tandoori Soya Chaap, my fav was paneer tikka and Paneer chilli Sizzler, chole with paratha was delicious. The thing I like the most was all the different flavors in each dish. We signed up for their Karaoke night, I hope to be there with more of us for a Bollywood fun night. We have been going to Bollywood Bistro for several months and let me just say that not only myself, but all our friends whom we introduce this best kept secret to, simply love it. The food has been consistently great and tastes pretty close to some of the dishes that I enjoyed growing up in Bombay. The chola bhatura/ Kulcha, amazing Indo Chinese dishes and the Chinese and Indian sizzlers totally hit the spot. Everything is reasonably priced and arrives quickly and piping hot. The ambiance is pleasant, that of a fast food joint and the staff is very courteous and attentive. The owner and hosts are very polite, friendly, generous and could easily double up as stand up comedians and Bollywood singers, super fun entertaining and always stop by to make sure they spend a little timing chatting with us and making us feel special, that to us is very nice and unique giving the whole dining experience, a very personal touch. Kinda nice. Really. Only I'm not into neither vegan nor Indian. So this was a very different experience for me. Wife too, and she also enjoyed. I wanted something different from the usual sandwich/burger/pizza/whatever I usually get, and found this 4-star place on Yelp (was looking for something in between where I was: Whole Foods in Naperville and home; Woodridge). This place was right on the way. Lots of stuff I've never heard of before, but also "tacos" and "quesadillas". So, there was a bit of familiarity there. Me and the wife shared them when I got home, and we were both equally impressed. Waited a LONG time for them to cook our food to order, this is NOT no Taco Bell. About a week or so later, we had to give them another try. Carry out again though, and this time I called it in ahead of time. It was ready when they said it would be. This time, we both ordered Masala dishes (see, I'm learning the terms), and again, quite delighted. The Garlic Naan (which I ordered 2 of) was even better than my local pizza place's garlic bread which I've sworn by was the best for over 15 years. So, I will be back. Do wish they did meat though. I'm sure that their Butter Chicken (the only previous Indian dish that I really enjoyed one time) would be terrific. Came here on a double date with my sister in law and her husband. They are vegan so it was nice to have all the vegan options. Although the roti kind of smelled like ghee but they insisted it was vegan. Paneer Tikka Pizza - this was so flavorful. Got it in mild and there was a little spice but not too spicy Black lentils - I've never had black lentils before but this tasted kind of watery. It needed more cream maybe? We apparently made the mistake of coming on a Friday. The food was really tasty and five stars, just as before, but the dining area was a catastrophe. Our server told us it would only be 15-20 minutes for us to get food when we got a table but it was well over an hour. There was karaoke or something going on in the next room and it got obnoxiously loud with the sound system being blasted at max. But what was worse and the reason why I will only get takeout if we come back is that there were people smoking inside and the smoke was stinking up both rooms- complained to the server since we had our toddler with us, but he just said "sorry sir" and didn't force the smokers to go outside. *Great food for takeout, avoid eating in at all costs on a Friday* read more

Kind of a strange customer experience is what I'll first say. They have hours such that the place closes down in the middle of the day and it's sometimes unannounced. The first time I tried to go here, it was unexpectedly closed. The second time, they randomly were not closing during the day. I don't know. Well, the guy said they mostly focus on catering, so maybe retail just isn't a focus. Food wise, I've heard about the chhole bhature, and so we had that and it was fine. Not the best, but also not bad. I also had the kulcha and it was also fine. The thing I surprisingly loved was the chili paneer. Really was great and may be one of the best I've had. So this is somewhere between a sit down place and fast food place as the waiter does take your order and bring food to you but food is in plastic/paper plates. Our waiter was very patient in explaining the dishes. We ordered the papdi chat, malai kofta dinner, lassi , paneer saag and naan and veg biryani. The total was a whopping $100! I understand prices are going up everywhere but the portions didn't do Justice either!! The papdi chat has like 2 chickpeas ! Some Potatoes! ??? Malai kofta had 2 mini koftas, which ok most places gives 2 but they charge $14 for malai kofta and Malabar paratha JST to give me 2 mini koftas? The paratha however was delicious. So was our naan. Paneer dish was good but again would had been better with more paneer. Lassi was $7?? All in all mediocre food with high prices. read more

This was our first visit here. Place is a little small comparatively with limited tables and have to have a reservation to dine-in. People seems to be friendly and Chef has his unique creations and twists to the mundane food. We ordered Paneer piri piri which we liked, it was really good then there was Tandoori flatbread which was exceptional and is highly recommended. We also ordered Samosa chole which was just okay, felt chole could be spicier. Then we had Taco tikka masala which we felt was lacking the filling. We thought instead of giving 3 tacos (only 2 in the pic because my husband stole 1 before the pic) give only 2 but with extra filling. Deducting a star for this. Otherwise this place is a 10/10. Lastly we had Falooda ice cream which again was exceptional and I personally never had anything like that in US. For the food, I got the Chole Bathure, Tandoori paneer flatbread & Chat papri. My personal fav was the Tandoori paneer flatbread - it had a delicious smoky flavor. Chat papri was also one the best I've had outside my kitchen..hehe. As for the portion size, the items aren't really shareable so order accordingly and I have heard some people mention the smaller portion sizing but my order came to about $29, which I think is pretty economical too..so all in all it is understandable. Bollywood Bistro serves great Indian food. We've been to the new location in Ogden over 10 times. The store is small and quaint. I just love the Indian movie themes, from the decor to the names of the dishes. It's a limited menu and everything on the menu is good. It's limited because the owner/chef Chetan takes immense pride in his work. It's clear that he loves to feed people in the best way he can. It's clear that he chooses quality over quantity. He doesn't compromise and we can't get enough of his food. I would recommend all the chaat items on the menu. But if you are really looking for a treat, try the Kulcha-Chole. If you are really hungry combine the creamy luscious malai kofta, with the smoky Kadai paneer, and scoop all that goodness up with some butter naan. Your tastebuds will thank you. We have a lot of Indian restaurants in Naperville. Most of them have extensive menus but the food is generic. Bollywood Bistro focusses on cooking a few Indian dishes but doing it well. I entered this establishment not knowing anything about the food or the culture. The gentlemen that greeted me was extremely informative and helpful. I recently changed my diet to an all plant based lifestyle and didn't have the slightest clue on what to order. Due to my lack of experience and knowledge the gentleman was more than accommodating and provided such great suggestions. I had previously left a rating on here that I cannot find. So I am adding a new rating. I had a prior bad experience during my first visit in which I was treated with indifference, rudeness and in which food items I wanted from the menu were not available. But the owner Chetan reached out to me very kindly and asked me to give the restaurant another try. So I have done so today and I am happy that I did. So far the dishes I have tasted each has been seasoned and prepared with great care. This is something I greatly value. The prices for the entrées are more comparable to dinner prices, but the portions are good and the flavors are nuanced. I am reserving a higher rating of 5 stars for when I have the opportunity to try several other dishes. They have a very diverse and creative menu, and I would like to see how these dishes taste. All in all: I am very glad to give this place another chance and I may even join in the enthusiasm you could read in these other reviews. read more
