To be honest I was expecting a more decent sizzler than what I got. The chicken on the sizzler was bone in which made it difficult to eat. Went tonight for a birthday celebration and enjoyed it even more than expected! We were intrigued by the fusion concept of the menu, but primarily stuck with Indian food dishes. I have to say we enjoyed all the dishes we chose. We started with Bao buns with delicious chicken. With garlic and plain naan we enjoyed two types of chicken, lamb dish and salmon. Ordered all medium spicy which was perfect. None of the dishes were too oily or over spiced. Added an order of Kashmiri biryani, really full of flavor but not taking away from the other dishes. Staff was attentive clearing plates and filling water. Owner came and chatted with us and brought a complimentary dessert for the birthday celebration. A Taste of Goa in Naperville - TemptInn Indian Fusion After browsing TemptInn's menu online, I was excited to see several Goan dishes--a rare find in Naperville. As a Goan myself, I had high hopes, and I wasn't disappointed. We visited for a Valentine's Day lunch and were warmly welcomed by Anthony, the owner, who has lived in both Goa and Bombay--just like me. He shared his vision of creating an Indian restaurant that stands apart from the many South Indian spots in town, and I think he's succeeded. With so many tempting options, choosing was tough, but we settled on: -Gobi Manchurian (mild) -Goan Shrimp Biryani -Sizzling Chicken Cafreal (with rice and fries) -Sizzling Goan Recheado Masala Pompano The Gobi Manchurian was perfectly crispy and spiced just right--an absolute delight. The Goan Shrimp Biryani transported me straight back to Goa, with bold, authentic flavors and plenty of shrimp (they didn't skimp!). The Chicken Cafreal was flavorful and true to its Goan roots; the spice level could be dialed down a bit, but the buttery, fragrant rice it came with was incredible. I'd happily trade the fries for more of that rice! The Sizzling Recheado Masala Pompano had that unmistakable, tangy recheado masala flavor I know and love. However, I found the fish too bony--I'm more accustomed to recheado-stuffed pomfrets or mackerels. That said, it was still a treat to experience these flavors outside of India. Overall, TemptInn delivers on its promise of unique, well-executed Indian fusion. I had high hopes for this place, especially since we came to celebrate a birthday -- but the experience really missed the mark from start to finish. We made a reservation through Google and noted it was a birthday celebration, but that was never acknowledged by the staff -- not even a simple "happy birthday." Once we were seated, we waited over 10 minutes before anyone approached our table. When our server finally came by, there was no greeting -- just a blunt "Are you ready to order?" No hello, no welcome, nothing. We ordered the Fusion West South Rolls, Indian Spicy Crab Cakes, and the Majestic Chicken Bao Buns. As someone who is half Indian and very familiar with how bold and flavorful Indian spices can be, I was surprised at how bland everything tasted. Nothing really stood out -- it felt like a missed opportunity for a menu that sounds much more exciting than it delivers. We only ate 2 out of the 3 bao buns, and when our server asked if we liked them, we honestly said no and explained why. He didn't offer to get a manager, take them off the bill, or make things right in any way -- just nodded and moved on. Just ate lunch here and very happy! The fusion menu was what attracted me so we ordered from that side. (2 sided menu, one with fusion and the other more traditional Indian). We got 2 appetizers, the crabcake and the chicken lollipops. Both came out very fresh and hot. Lollipops were generous portion and fried perfectly. Had a good level of spice. The crabcakes were splendid. Perfect amount of crabmeat and great flavors. For the entrees we got Goan dishes, one was the whole pompano recheado and the other was the sizzling chicken cafreal. Stop that thought right now. I saw you eating your pizza with Cholula. You can order your food mild, medium, or hot. For the items that had levels offered I got them medium. I'm a Gora who likes some heat. The appetizers were amazing. The chicken was crispy and the spices were perfectly mixed for that depth of spicy flavors I love from Indian food. Our main courses were also so flavorful and thoughtfully prepared. The shrimp had that texture and almost bursting bite feel that I love. We also had the Kashmiri naan and a couple of chias. There aren't any pictures of the naan because as soon as it showed up you could smell how good it was going to be. We devoured like we hadn't eaten in days and couldn't care less about the pictures. It's sweet enough to call it dessert and I should have ordered some to go. I'll definitely do that next time. The service was excellent. When we went in they were weren't busy and they sat us in a way that gave us some privacy. I've been to places that fill up some areas of their space before moving to the next. This wasn't the case here. I appreciated being sat this way so as the place fills up it doesn't seem so crowded. The waitstaff were helpful and very attentive. We went there for Chat night on Thursday. The food was fine, although the menu could have been a bit better but no major complains with the food. Our server/host was fine and courteous as well. It sounded like he was very new into the job (4 weeks) but still did a superb job at settling us down and making us familiar with the restaurant. However, then we witnessed something horrific that doesn't meet the service standards for the restaurants in this area. One of the manager came to the patio and started yelling (literally!!) on our server because he had accommodated a family of 8 by joining 2 tables together in the patio. Then we saw this manager being rude to 2 other families for their need of a bigger table. This is considering that this restaurant had no accommodation for families more than 4 people. I have never seen a restaurant service manager talk to families like that in US, and also the behavior with the server for accommodating a larger family on a table was unforeseen. We will not visit this place again only for poor service (by the senior service people) read more

Unfortunately, it was just average and a bit too sour for my palate. As for the cocktails, they were quite average. I tried the spicy margarita and later asked for the guava mocktail to be spiked--this was the most enjoyable drink, but still nothing stood out or felt particularly impressive. My friend who eats non-vegetarian really enjoyed the Murgh Malai Tikka, which was probably the highlight of our table. I got the impression that the place may be better suited for non-vegetarian dishes, especially since our server had limited suggestions when we asked for vegetarian recommendations. We decided to try a new Indian fusion restaurant for Valentine's Day after seeing some social media ads and news articles. We made a reservation a week in advance. Since my wife is pregnant, I requested a booth for comfort, but the host said those were only for larger groups. Instead, we were given a table for four across from the booths where other couples were seated. The table had visible scratch marks, but we decided to let it go. The noise from the waiter stations was quite noticeable, which made the atmosphere less relaxing. For appetizers, we ordered medium-spice soya chaap and Southwest rolls. However, after about 10 minutes, our server returned to confirm our order because she had forgotten to enter it into the system. She apologized and assured us the food would be ready in five minutes. When the food arrived, the soya chaap was extremely spicy--more like it was just coated in masala. The portion sizes were also smaller than expected. After this experience, we decided to skip the main course and left within 30 minutes. I rarely write negative reviews, and I understand that new restaurants take time to get things right. I received a text asking for feedback but noticed there wasn't a comment section to share my thoughts.
