This place is a gem. Chicken korma? Perfect. Samosas? Fresh and light as can be. Dum biryani with goat? I'm from California and I've been eating goat in many forms for years but this was by far the best I have ever had in my life, tender, juicy, fresh and tasty with perfectly cooked rice. The hot chai tea was a new flavor for me, different than I've even had in India and delicious. The two servers were attentive, helpful, charming. Food came out fast but was so fresh you know it's homemade with love. They've transformed the place into an airy, pleasant space that could accommodate crowds and should be full all the time! I cannot wait to go back and try the chili chicken, a fusion dish that looks amazing, and everything else. Highly recommend! Will be back; so glad our favorite Thai place is closed on Wednesday and that we ended up here! BTW, my date had never eaten Indian food and he loved it so I think this is a great place to try things for those new to the cuisine.

Great food with good options. Service was great. The ambience was okay but not the best for a dining restaurant.

Tapri -- Casual Dining with Thoughtful Indian Fusion Tapri offers a relaxed, café-style dining experience rather than a traditional fine-dining setup, with casual seating and an easygoing atmosphere. What stands out immediately is the expansive vegetarian menu, centered on Indian fusion and creative reinterpretations of familiar flavors. While the setting is informal, many of the dishes feel thoughtfully curated--almost as if they belong in a fine-dining context, presented in a more approachable, everyday format. We tried the Paneer Bao, Salli Idli, Mushroom Haleem Arancini, Hakka Noodles, and Sticky Date Pudding. Among these, the Mushroom Haleem Arancini and Sticky Date Pudding were clear standouts. The arancini was perfectly spiced and crisp, served atop a warm, rich, and indulgent mushroom haleem--an unexpectedly successful vegetarian take on a dish traditionally associated with meat. It was creative, comforting, and genuinely memorable. The Sticky Date Pudding was equally satisfying and a strong finish to the meal. Another highlight is the value. Tapri is impressively budget-friendly, especially considering the level of creativity and execution on the plate. It's surprising that the restaurant isn't discussed more widely, as it is one of the few places confidently showcasing innovative Indian fusion while keeping it accessible and affordable. Tapri strikes a rare balance--casual, creative, and reasonably priced--and is well worth seeking out for anyone interested in vegetarian Indian fusion done right.

Small space with couple 4 seating tables and rest is two seater. Service was confusing as I was asked to order online while next family get to order with person. Mango Lassi- 5/5 - good taste and consistency Veg. Makkah noodles- 4/5 - adding mushroom and spice will be good Mushroom tempura - 4/5 - good with noodles Jackfruit biryani - 2/5 - the masala has very strong flavor but not typical biryani masala. Did not feel good about the spice. Jalebi rabdi - 4/5 - fresh jalebi and rabdi is good too.

This is located next door to Chef Soon and Sport Clips. You can find parking in the front as well as plenty in the back. Inside the restaurant is on the smaller side. It wasn't hard to find a table. Prices are slightly on the expensive side but great quality. Service was good. Our server made sure that our dishes were not super spicy. We ordered tangdi kabab, garlic naan, roganjosh with halal lamb, chettinaadu with white shrimp, mango lassi, irani chai, and mango kulfi. Overall, it's a 4 out of 5. I think they need to work on drink sizes like for the Irani chat and the prices for some of the desserts. You want to give the customers good value so that they will come back. I'll come back for the food but I'll stick with tap water from now on. Desserts I found a better value at the Karak cafe in Lisle. -tangdi kabab 5 - the description on the website was right. The chicken was really juicy. I loved the spices. Medium spicy but very enjoyable. Make sure you use the mint chutney. -garlic naan 5 - very soft and fluffy. I like to take a piece and dip it into the curry sauces. -roganjosh with halal lamb 5 - curry flavor is more robust than the other one, I really liked all of the spices. The lamb was very tender. -chettinaadu with white shrimp 5 - the curry flavor has a sweeter taste due to the coconut and plenty of smaller size shrimps. -mango lassi 5 - texture and taste are different from the other versions I've had but it's still very tasty. -irani chai 4 - pretty flavorful but I wished it came in a bigger cup or at least a tea pot for the table. For $4 I could have gone to one of those Middle Eastern cafes for a bigger size. -mango kulfi 4 - tastes like regular mango ice cream but with like rose petals sprinkled on them. I don't think it's worth $9.

Delicious Indian food and drinks. We really enjoyed coming here. I had the butter chicken and the garlic naan, both of which were great. The restaurant is small and tables are a little bit closer together but it was definitely manageable. There is parking outside of the strip mall that the restaurant is in.

If you love Indian food, Tapri is the place for you! Tapri is a recent addition to the Woodridge area and it has truly won hearts with its beautiful decor and delicious food! We ended up getting the chai, pani puri, butter chicken masala, garlic naan, and veggie Hakka noodles. The pani puri stole the showwwww! The spiced water tasted just like home and the toppings were absolutely phenomenal! The butter chicken masala and garlic naan were outstanding. Both were so beyond flavorful and so fresh. I do wish there was more chicken in the curry. Finally, the veggie Hakka noodles were FANTASTIC! They were buttery and filled with so many wonderful flavors and seasonings! Absolutely loved all the dishes! When it comes to service, it was a bit slow. There was only 1 person seating people, taking ordering, delivering food, and cleaning up. I hope that given how busy they are already getting, they hire more staff so more people can experience their delicious food!

This is an excellent restaurant and clearly a labor of love. We eat Indian food fairly regularly and sometimes cook our own; I've also eaten at fancy Michelin star Indian restaurants. In my judgment, Tapri compared favorably with the best of these and in several ways exceeded them. We tried something like 8-9 different dishes, ranging from very good to excellent, with only one I didn't care for. The ingredients are clearly fresh and on the more "natural" side. The marketing claims Indian/Asian fusion, and that is true ... but I'd say it's closer to Indian fine dining, with some of the details and quality that implies. It is definitely unique and the quality is FAR HIGHER than the prices and location suggest. There is art here: in the food and in the presentation (eg, like platters or glassware). Particularly impressive are the drinks: a long list of thoughtfully chosen wines, beers, whiskies, etc -- many of them high quality options from India I'd never even seen or heard of. The items on the list that aren't Indian are also very well chosen, e.g., mostly French and Italian win. Much of the wine was also available by the glass (how often does that happen?) and you could tell it was all chosen to pair with the cooking style. We also tried multiple house cocktails (all of them influenced by Indian food or drinks) and thoroughly enjoyed them all. Even the coffee is good! The location is plain and small but bright and inviting with some attractive touches, like the comfy green seats on the wall -- again, clearly a labor of love. Best of all, it's all affordable. All of it! The potential here is huge. I'd say the care and quality in several areas is close to a Michelin star restaurant; I wouldn't be surprised if it gets there and I am really interested to see how the menu is refined over time. What this place really needs is a prixe fixe menu with drink pairings. This is my new place of mine for sure. Highest recommendation!

We tried this newly opened Indian place for dinner. It is a small place for dining in. Most of the people were getting take outs. The kitchen seems small as there was quite a bit of line for take outs. Food wise it's great! We ordered Bao buns with paneer but they weren't that great. The tangdi kabab were delicious! Mains was chicken chettinad again amazing taste wise. They have limited menu items. I also got to finally taste their jalebi rabdi after weeks of wait! It was absolutely amazing!! Must try!! All in all I would recommend to try this place :)

The first time, the coconut chutney smelled sour and tasted off, and one of my samosas had raw dough inside. Today, though, the masala in my masala dosa was spoiled. The flavor seemed off, and when I tasted the potato filling on its own, it was clear something wasn't right. By that point, I was already halfway through my meal. I'm disappointed to see this pattern, and I'm hoping I don't get sick. When I look at the menu, I try to look for dishes that I've never had. I know our waiter suggested butter chicken and chicken tikka masala, but those are the most popular safe dishes for non Indians. I say safe dishes because your average American that walks in, is not going to order something that he/she doesn't know what it is. We ordered chicken 65, kashmiri naan, spinach chicken, kadhai lamb, and tandoori shrimp. Just a FYI, the water bottle(s) that come to your table are $2 each. They're not free. Portion sizes are average. Prices were fair. Service was great and attentive. Usually, there would be parking in the front and back. However, for some reason they were both full and there were barely any customers inside the restaurant. You can also park at the nearby parking garage (top level). That's a 2 min walk. -chicken 65 5 - this reminds me of a Chinese dish but I can't remember. I'm talking about the texture when you're eating it. As an Indian appetizer, it was delicious and would pair well with rice. Very addicting to eat. -kashmiri naan 5 - it has a mild sweet taste that is good with savory dishes. A mixture of dried fruits, coconut, and maybe nuts. -spinach chicken 5 - chicken was very tender and the sauce was flavorful. Very safe dish to eat if you're not that adventurous. -kadhai lamb 5 - the sauce has a more bold flavor than the spinach chicken. The lamb was very good. -tandoori shrimp 5 - Just a warning but this is kind of spicy especially for those that can't handle spicy foods. I didn't try any of the cocktails, but I did have a glass of cava brut, which was served in a white wine glass and was a very generous pour. They have lunch specials, a happy hour, and tea (!) from 2-5, veg or non-veg options, which I'm definitely checking out. If you're vegetarian, items that can be made vegan are clearly marked, and there are more vegan items on the website than I saw on the menu, so I would ask. Most of the French touches appear to be on dishes with meat, though there are flatbreads and a spinach dip, and of course dessert; there is a lot more paneer on the menu than I'm used to, which might be a gesture towards the French love of cheese. Vegans would do best ordering the soya chaap or from the Accompaniments section, which includes classic Indian items (aloo gobi, dal). Overall there are about 8 vegetarian entrees / accompaniments, plus appetizer options. Restaurant serves wine, beer and cocktails in addition to the usual mango lassi, chai and soft drinks. We got a ginger mojito; mango lassi; the corn fritters; the fig/pistachio/paneer flatbread; garlic naan; rice; the soya chaap and a cardamom creme brulee. In general, food had a blend of spices but was mild, which makes sense given the French influence. The corn fritters were nicely spiced with good texture and a tasty sauce. The garlic naan is quite impressive with lots of herbs and garlic. Unless you love soy cutlets, I don't recommend the soya chaap (soy/wheat cutlets in coconut curry sauce); it's fine for what it is - the gravy was delicious and rich - but it's not for me. The flatbread was interesting; the pistachios didn't overwhelm at all but I would have liked more fig to stand up to the paneer. The spouse was impressed with the mojito; the lassi was OK but wasn't as fruity as I like. The cardamom creme brulee is served in a wide ramekin, maximizing the surface area of the sugar crust and making it easily sharable. Instead of permeating the cream, the cardamom seeds provided little bursts of flavor, which was nice but not what I expected. Service was a bit slow but solicitous - we were there on a quiet Sunday night. Copious parking; easy hours; I'll definitely check out the lunch specials and tea when I'm in the mood for local Indian food, heavy on the paneer.

The space is inviting and comfortable, easy to settle into. Service was exceptionally friendly. We were warmly welcomed and had a lovely conversation with Sara, the owner, which added a personal and heartfelt touch to the evening. Our party of four included a vegetarian and someone with gluten-free needs, and both were accommodated effortlessly. Always a sign of a thoughtful kitchen. We started with Aloo Paneer Tikki and Papdi Chaat, both excellent. The tikki was crisp and satisfying, and the chaat had that perfect mix of textures and tangy brightness. For mains, we shared Chicken Vindaloo, shrimp curry, Chicken Biryani, Mutter Aloo, and vegetable fried rice, all accompanied by warm, soft, slightly crisp butter naan. Everything was beautifully presented, well prepared, and balanced in spice without overwhelming the palate. And then... the cocktails. My friend and I ventured into margarita territory, one spicy and one with ginger, both crafted so well that we immediately ordered a second round. No regrets. If I had one small wish, it would be for music that leans more into the cultural experience. A sitar in the background or even Bollywood scenes on the screens would add an extra layer of immersion. That said, the American music playing was tasteful and unobtrusive. If you're in the suburbs and craving good Indian food with warm hospitality, this is your place. We'll definitely be back.

The man working there was friendly and knowledgeable, and the restaurant was clean with plenty of open tables to choose from. My only suggestion for improvement is that I'd love to see additional paneer options for the lunch special- I would have absolutely ordered 2 different paneer entrees, but I had butter chicken for my second choice and it was also delicious! Tip: parking in DT Wheaton can be crazy sometimes. If you're planning to arrive here at a specific time, definitely give yourself extra time to find parking and walk.

Parking can be tricky especially during weekends but, there is plenty of street parking and garages close by. The place was empty but we did come in for a late lunch. We did see a few people coming and going for carry out orders too. The restaurant is kept clean and staff members were very helpful and kind. They did try to upsell items but were respectful when I declined. I decided to go with 1 of their quick combos, Combo B. It comes with 2 entrees, rice, and naan. For ~$13 this is a great option to try a variety. I tried the chicken tikka masala and the saag paneer. It was flavorful and delicious. Portion is generous and I could have brought home left overs but couldn't resist. I ate everything in 1 sitting.

We had high hopes and were looking forward to some really good chai. Unfortunately this place was…read moredisappointing. We got a chicken kofte roll, 1 doodh pathi, and 1 samosa chaat. It took about 15 for the roll to come out and then another 10-15 minutes for the samosa chaat out and they literally forgot the doodh pathi until we asked about it at the end. The excuse was that they were making it from scratch? The roll was decent, really just tasted and felt like they got the ingredients from Patel Brothers and threw it together. Same with the somosa chaat, which didn't even have a samosa. It was just one deconstructed samosa crushed along the plate and covered in yogurt and some chutneys. There was more chickpeas than samosa. Both dishes were something I'd expect to put together at home last minute if a guest showed up unannounced and even then i'd be embarrassed to serve this stuff. We got the doodh pathi finally as we were heading out and we expected a soothing drink of tea leaves brewed in milk. Unfortunately all you taste is milk. Wouldn't recommend

We tried the karak chai, which was super flavorful and refreshing, and the madras coffee -- which honestly stole the show! It tastes just like authentic filter coffee from India, rich and perfectly balanced. The bun with malai and honey was light, fluffy, and paired perfectly with our drinks -- a simple but absolutely delicious snack. Definitely recommend this spot if you love authentic chai or South Indian-style coffee -- a true hidden gem worth visiting!
