Afghani Box recently opened in a small plaza on Ogden near River Rd. The interior is small and only has two tables, so takeout is best. It has a red & black color scheme, which they also use for their boxes that the food is served in. The menu is limited, but they focus on quality over quantity. The lady (presumably owner) I spoke to emphasized the fresh ingredients and quality of food, and said they use Fatima brand halal meat. I ordered an Afghani box (of course) and a Qabuli palow. The boxes were bigger than I expected, so a good amount of food for the money. The Afghani box included a chapli kabob (minced meat), 3 pieces of manti (dumplings), fries, beans, bread, rice, and two sauces. The kabob was tender, juicy, and very flavorful; it had a bit of a kick to it. The manti was pretty good, and the beans, bread, and rice were decent. The fries had an interesting seasoning. The white sauce was very flavorful, and the green sauce had a kick to it; both very good. The Qabuli was also very good. The rice with carrots and raisins was moist and flavorful. The lamb was fairly tender and flavorful. The amount of rice was probably more than needed for the size of the shank, but it's fine. Overall, the food was amazing. Pricing was fair and service was excellent. Highly recommend.

The interior is a lot nicer than it would seem from its strip mall location. The kabobs are seasoned well and have some spice to it. The owner/manager(?) is super friendly, but always hustling. The kabuli palaw is fall-of-the bone tender, definitely should give it a try! I've had dine-in and carry out. They do take care of the carry out. The food is presented nice even after I get it home. I couldn't say it's a hidden gem because a lot of people know about this spot, the dine-in is busy (but not crowded). It's a well-known gem.

What may seem like a quiet restaurant in a quaint plaza is an absolute hidden gem. Staff is warm and welcoming. We ordered to-go and inside was very clean. Our first time trying Afghan food and this place knocks it out of the park. We split a combination #3 I believe that included chicken shish, beef kabob, and lamb chunks (I forget the proper name, my apologies). All three were tender, juicy, and bursting with flavor. Almost citrusy and spicy, a front flavor of cilantro in almost everything- we absolutely devoured it all. My husband couldn't believe how much he loved the chicken. It came with hummus and an onion tomato salad. The meats were placed on a beautiful piece of bread that was cut into pieces almost and soaked some of those meat juices. Superb. Came to about $22 I believe. We also shared a chicken soup- do not skip!! Add the green sauce! Thank me later. And lastly the Mantu- ground beef stuffed dumplings in a tangy yogurt, tomato savory topped sauce. I truly can't explain it. Top five dishes I've ever had no joke. I added some green sauce and I already can't wait to order it again. Next time I'm buying a bottle of green sauce! It was $9 for that app with about nine pieces. Next time I look forward to trying their popular lamb dish and their Nakod, a cooked chickpea app in a gravy. Can't wait for another great meal for a great deal!

Tucked away in a small shopping center, it's a cozy little spot with beautiful Moroccan lights that add to the atmosphere. The staff was patient, kind and friendly, which made the experience even better. We ordered family style so we could sample a bit of everything. Here's what we tried: * Vegetarian Combo: 5/5 stars- Ezme, hummus, falafel, and eggplant dip all on one plate. A perfect starter and a great way to taste a little bit of everything. *Mix Grill: 5/5 stars- chicken kebab, beef kebab, Adana kebab, chicken kofte, beef kofte and doner kebab. This was a hit at the table- every single piece was flavorful, juicy, and absolutely delicious. *Turkish Iskender: 2/5 stars- this one wasn't for me. This dish is made with a bread base topped with tomato base and shredded lamb and beef. The flavor was unique, but the texture just didn't work for me. I don't think I would order it again as it felt very soggy. *Ali Nazik: 3/5 stars- smoked grilled meat over a bed of creamy garlic, yogurt and eggplant. The meat was wonderful, but the yogurt and eggplant mix felt a little off chunky and bland like cottage cheese and needed a stronger punch of flavor. *Manti: 5/5 stars- tortellini stuffed with ground beef served in a creamy yogurt with chilly oil. unlike other places where the dumplings are huge and heavy these were small bite size and perfectly balance easily one of my favorites of the night. Overall, I definitely come back. The menu is extensive and there are still so many dishes I want to try. I can't wait for my next visit.
