Our poor son stopped eating last night while making sporadic heart dropping sounds expressing his discomfort. During the past 2 years, he has never once made such sounds nor was he sick to this degree. My Wife woke me up at 5:10 in the morning demanding we take him to an emergency hospital A.S.A.P., because there was no way she could've waited till Monday to visit our primary vet at Apollo North Clinic. I did a quick search on Google. VEG was on top of my search engine. I clicked the link. I called the number to verify the availability of my son to be seen. The receptionist told me there was no wait so we drove there right after hanging up the phone. My son is a 2+ year old Pomeranian male. He is a picky eater. I think we tried every kibble to every organic food to every available food from online like Nom + Farmer's Dog; all without any success. He was like this from day one after picking him up from the airport. Eventually, we found some form of success with a combination of Dr. Marty's Freeze Dried Raw Dog Food + FreshPet Select Dog Food. Our son literally doesn't like to eat food. There is no way he will eat food by himself. He would starve himself then throw up if we do not intervene. His eating disorder is a whole different issue unrelated to our current vet visit. When we got to the VEG, the staff quickly attended to our sick son. We all stayed together. We were allowed to be a part of every procedure. I held him so they can take some blood for testing. I comforted him after they injected some fluids through IV. The only time I was not involved was during the x-rays; but our son never lost eye contact with us, because they had a clear window on the door so he can see us. By the staff allowing us to be near him was a blessing because he had a huge separation anxiety issue when both of us were not near him: with that being said, it has been almost 2+ years, ever since we had him, since we have a proper trip or vacation without our precious son. I just wanted to throw that out there; but thank you for letting our son heal properly by having us be around him during all the procedures. Eventually, we got the final verdict of what ailments our son and what to do to remedy every single one of them. The medicine was given to us with instructions. We didn't have to go out to another place to pick up the medicine needed for his recover. It was a one stop shop then we went home happy. The whole process took about an hour and 15 minutes. We were seen quickly. Not even a minute. We saw the doctor in 7 minutes! For an animal emergency clinic, to be seen so quickly by a doctor is a dream come true for all parents of a sick son/daughter. Yes, our son is our valuable, most precious "teacup"(not really) Pomeranian! Final Verdict: Come here A.S.A.P. if you value your pet as your own child! You can check-in online. You can be seen quickly. You can see a doctor even quicker! You are allowed to participate with all of their exams! You are allowed to be in the same room as your son/daughter! Even though the price was $1,500, I think it was well worth it. I am not a rich hobo ok!?!? I am just your above-average-income-blue-collar-family ok!?!? I do not have an infinite amount of $1,500 to just spend on whatever I want! But I can tell you this much: my son (Gigil or GG for short) is worth it! And making my Wife happy is worth it! So if your precious Son & not fight with your Wife is important? Then get your booty in here! Trust me, the most precious people within your home will thank you if you do. And your son/daughter will thank you, for lessening a traumatic event in their life. You will get some thankful licks + kisses from them. Now what is more awesome than that? read more

VEG is a different approach to the typical animal hospital. I came in with my dog who injured his foot. Upon arrival I expected to wait 2 hours to see the vet, in reality it was less than 5 minutes. I also went in the back area with my dog for triage, and care. While I had to watch him get X-rays, I was able to be right with my dog the entire time. The staff were excellent. On April 20th, we found out my 14 year old fur baby had kidney cancer, when we thought it was just a stuck hairball. At first I was in denial that he was sick, because he hadn't shown any signs (as cats usually don't show signs) but after honest and caring information from the doctor, it was time for him to cross the Rainbow Bridge. VEG helped us get through a very difficult, sudden time and even though we weren't ready, VEG was very kind and helped us through the process. My Peanut was cremated and sealed in beautiful box. I took my sweet dog, Daisy, in late on a Sunday night and the Doctor and Staff were absolutely wonderful. Daisy was very old and ill and they guided me through the process of gently evaluating her, giving me all treatment options and then, unfortunately, we made the decision to let her pass. They could have not hid us in a back, windowless room, for 7 hours. Only to give my cat a fluid shot and watch her diet. For almost $900. Never again. Adding insult to injury, had to run to my car after I paid almost $900 to grab something. Door was locked when I returned 2 minutes later, and front desk wouldn't allow me in. After being inside their office from morning until early evening, hidden in a supply looking room, she had no idea who I was. I was in solitary confinement for over 8 hours, windowless room. There is a standard patronizing line used with every client and it infers that you don't have a primary care veterinarian. That's insulting. Also, if you can pull blood work results for the folks processed after us, don't use an obvious falsehood to justify making us wait and worry. It took me two and a half weeks to be able to right this. I've been just devastated. Heartbroken beyond belief. I took my 3 pound Chihuahua to this place. She was my everything. I lost my boy back in January, going through a divorce at the moment, losing everything but she made everything so much better. Took my little girl in didn't know what happened to her. $760 for a X-ray and pain meds I was told she had disc disease. Or what causes the spinal disc to deteriorate. She wasn't able to walk. Told me to give her a few days to see if she would get better. First night home the meds they gave her made her freak out. 10 minutes after giving her these medications that I was told were pre-measured out for me ,she flipped out hard almost as if she was hallucinating and she did this all night long she started to get a little better the hour before she was supposed to receive her next dose of her medication . I only gave her half but that was enough to do her in. She started having seizures breathing went crazy heart beat was so fast . I would rather put her down then have her be so scared, in pain. We were so pleased with the care for our cat Cesar, and the general way that the VEG facility was run and how attentive and friendly the staff were! What a vastly different experience to other emergency clinics we had with this group! We loved the open floor plan, where one could see other animals and their people. There were still closed rooms for privacy as needed however. The cost factor was also significantly different. While still paying more for emergency care, this was less expensive than other critical care we've needed. We left with meditations, full and comprehensive instructions, visit documentation, an itemized bill and most important, a pet on the mend that wasn't overly stressed out. We are so pleased to give a shout out to Vicki who met us and checked us in, RN's Rebbecca and Coty and to Dr. Chen for the excellent care of our boy! In January I felt I had to take my cat to the vet. He was bumping into things and had no balance. It was on a Sunday, and as far as I know not even emergencies can get you care on Sunday. But I found VEG, and I couldn't have been in better hands. Dr. McCartin and staff were very concerned and treated Rammi and I with love and compassion. It did take a while, because there were other emergencies and surgeries ahead of me. They kept me informed, and Rammi was comfortable laying beside me. Once the doctor saw him, some tests had already been run, there were more, and she let me know all of the options of care. I want to take the time to thank everyone for everything they did. My husband and I brought in our dog He had ingested something poisonous,he was in bad shape. We walked in on a Sunday night and was greeted but a lovely vet tech who took us immediately to a room. The cool part is there is an open trauma unit out in the open where pet owners are allowed to stay with their pet while being treated. They said we could come anytime and even stay the night. Because of Dr.Chin the other vets , and the vet techs our boy survived He was so sick..near death We had to leave him over night but were unable to visit him because when he saw us he got excite and stared to seizure. I had an emergency one night around 3am with my 2 year old pup and needed to find an ER Vet near me. I had never been here before but found the closest office with the best possible reviews. My pup has a known chicken allergy/intolerance and when a chicken dog food brand is ingested he gets severely ill and has a very upset stomach. The evening hours before taking him in he had eaten my friend's dog's purina pro plan chicken food (which in the past had given him severe colitis which was easily fixed by Metronidazole and forta flora). He, that same hour as expected, got his usual soft diarrhea right away from it. He also had thrown that little handful of it up ten minutes after he had eaten it so it was the start of another stomach episode. He had woken me up a couple times in the evening before taking him to the ER to throw up yellow bile since his stomach was very upset. I then was woken to him having puked bile with blood in the vomit and was so worried so I jumped in the car and rushed him to this vet with metronidazole and fluids in mind. The waiting room was quiet, clean and empty when I arrived and was taken in and he was weighed. The vet techs were very nice and asked what was wrong. There were maybe two over night patients and at least 8 vet techs present yet no one seemed in a Rush to help, but they were definitely in a rush to quote me 1,500 over this. I had explained how he had sensitivity to chicken and all this happened in less than 20 hours and that I'd been through this with him before. But they seemed to not listen to me and started stating it could be a blockage or parvo or worse and started pounding me with a TON of unnecessary charge add ons. It was 3am and I was so out of it trying to say how he just needed metronidazole as his usual vet did this for the same issue and it solved it but they insisted that was not what was needed. I declined the xray which was going to be about 550 and I am so glad I didn't do it. I agreed to blood work just to see why he threw up blood, and tried to deny a few of the other treatments besides an IV yet they still went and did a couple things I did not want done (since I knew this was just another food intolerance episode) but they did it anyways which made me unhappy. I also didn't enjoy how long they took when they had nothing going on and were standing talking or chilling. It took about six hours with no other patients and even treated a patient before mine who came two hours after us. They ended up charging me 800 dollars and gave my dog two medications that actually made him ten times worse and ill. They gave him proviable which was overpriced and did nothing for his gastritis/colitis and diarrhea, and omeprazole which is where he went severely down hill. His diarrhea that night was very normal not explosive just soft stool. But when he started to take this omeprazole it gave him SEVERE and I mean SEVERE explosive colitis and caused him to be so severely ill I had to rush him to his normal vet as an ER visit! This cost me 400 dollars! And the vet who actually did the correct treatment told me how this place screwed my dog up for the worse by giving him a medication that has a possible side effect of, you named it, DIARRHEA while knowing he was having diarrhea and had a past of stomach issues. So because of this I will never be coming back and feel as if a part of that money paid for treatment and medication was worthless and basically paid 800 bucks to make him ten times more ill. I just had trusted they knew how to help because they disregarded me explaining it wasn't a blockage or parvo or lepto that he just has food intolerance issues. All he needed was some fluid and metronidazole not all this unnecessary stuff! So I will never come back and wish I could be refunded the things that made my poor pup decline so much worse. It took my own personal vet to fix him! They gave him metronidazole and he was literally doing better in a matter of hours! And to have my personal vet tell me how ridiculous the treatment was when they should've done as asked because I know my own dog and his allergies etc, that I was basically robbed and made my pup more ill. So I do not recommend because of this. read more

I'm not interested in the 5 star reviews, but the one star one's where underlying issues are the reason for the dissatisfaction. Already knowing that it cost a premium price for the services, 6 to 8 times more than a veternarian, it's alarming to read some of the recent issues that customers have experienced. From over-medication,to rudeness, to unreasonble wait times, to outrageous pricing. The service provided is needed in the community, but all that comes with it is a cause for pause. No thanks. I have to rave about Veterinary Emergency Group (at 2196 E Camelback Rd, Phoenix 85016). Finding an emergency vet for a Bearded Dragon at 7 pm on a Thursday night is not easy. They saved our lizard by their expert care and made the experience as good as could be expected for both my daughter and I, and our lizard. They formulated and discussed a treatment plan and helped to make it more affordable by providing treatment in a step by step manner to avoid unnecessary expenses. We were there until 5 am and were provided a darkened room, with a small pull out couch, blankets and pillows so we could get some rest while a surgical procedure was accomplished. You are welcomed to be near your animal in the open and clean treatment area as well. When I mentioned how difficult it can be to find an emergency exotic pet vet, they explained that their policy is to treat any animal that fits in their door (except primates) so they can help with unusual pet emergencies. Sadly our little guy passed about 5 minutes before we got there. However the staff was so compassionate and helpful. They took us straight back to the exam room which was big and open. The staff was very informative and answered all our questions. When it was determined our pet had passed, they cleaned him up and gave us a container to bury him in. You guys are angels. They were thorough, efficient, highly skilled, gentle, communicative, compassionate, and personable. Your pet stays with you the whole time and they also provide free snacks & drinks for family. Sassy was backed up with constipation & they began treatment, which I followed up at home. Lots of education was provided. Phoenix is fortunate to have Veterinary Emergency Group which just opened up here in May 2023. They offer an entirely new care concept & a reassuring experience for pets needing urgent & emergency care. They also follow up next day to ensure your pet is recovering. No one wants to need the services of VEG, but it's great to know they are there if you do. My cat ate a lily which are highly toxic to cats to cats. We didn't know for several days, so his kidneys were in bad shape when we took him in over a holiday weekend. The speed in which he was triaged and a plan was made was impressive. Everyone from doctors to nurses to techs were kind, competent and caring. He was there for over two days and not only were we welcome at any time to stay with him, the vets updated us with texts throughout the night. Ultimately they shared that his blood work showed he was not responding to treatment and we were sent home with him on hospice. They were incredibly caring and gentle with that information and sharing options. Shockingly our boy has defied science and has survived, I do not consider their assessment a misdiagnosis, his regular vet totally agreed that by his blood work while at VEG, it doesn't make sense that he pulled through. Of course we're thrilled and we know he wouldn't be here without their initial care and treatment. We were there a lot while he was getting treatment and saw the team with all sorts of animals and problems, each was approached with caring and dedication. It's an emergency vet, so of course it's expensive, but they are up front with an estimate and have you pay that before treatment beyond triage occurs, if it is not all spent, they refund you promptly. I have mixed feelings about this place. They seem genuinely caring but are very quick to push lots of high $ tests. Even after a prognosis is determined there was the grey area maybe "fear" on what you should have done to your pet before leaving, running up the bill $ on the way out. Also depends on who is assigned to you. One Dr seemed very immature as she openly contradicted another vet with her minion assistant smirking. Totally unprofessional and uncalled for to do this in front of us as our pet was being examined. Decide for yourselves if you have to go here. My dog (Milo)of 4 months got parvo. When Dr. Channing gave me the news I was devasted. She cared enough to explain everything and go over multiple plans for Milo, I truly felt like she wanted the best for Milo. Although I knew it was going to be pricey her and the tech worked with me and my budget. After 3 days he got so much better he started eating on his own and drinking water, He also started playing around. I cant thank her and the tech enough. Although I didnt get the texhs name I highly recommend them. I give Dr.channing and the tech 5 stars but I give 4 stars to the Hospital because i spoke with 2 other doctors and they wanted to hospitalize him and didnt give me any hope of him making it with the treatment that Me and Dr.channing chose for Milo. read more

A dear friend told us about VEG on Camelback and east 22nd St. Her experience was excellent as they were gentle and kind. Bennie, our half Boxer mix, needed some hydration badly before she was to visit the oncologist. I brought him in and from the beginning, they brought both of us back and allowed us to wait in more of a private room, as there was a lot going on. I observed as they treated everyone with respect and professionalism. I was allowed to stay with Bennie as he received the fluids and brought him back the next day to receive the second dose. We have owned a good number of pets throughout our life. Made many visits to Emergency places with our dogs. This by far was so comforting and extremely professional.
