We had an amazing experience at VEG. We have been here once before this summer for our cat and the staff was so kind, informative and patient. So when something came up with our dog last month we felt comfortable going in. They were quick to start initial tests, considerate giving us an estimate ahead of any care, and so sweet when we were very emotional and upset. I hope no pet owner ends up needing emergency care, but if I ever do again I'll be going to VEG. My puppy caught parvo, and I wouldn't have wanted him anywhere else. They easily worked with my vet, and I was able to stay with my pup as long as I wanted, they even offered to let me stay overnight. The vet techs and doctors care a lot, and while I know their work is incredibly hard, they all had the best attitude and put me at ease. VEG offered realistic options for care, and they were very willing to work with my budget. Good people doing good work here, no price schemes, unnecessary charges, or medical procedures. I found a stray cat who was in very rough shape. I wanted to get him some help which can be hard to find, thankfully I was told to try VEG where I received incredible support. I was immediately brought into a room and given a paper to sign stating the cat was a stray. Within minutes, someone came to examine the cat and take him to a temporary kennel for further treatment. the doctors were great. no issues there at all. it's the support staff whose job it was to draw blood and do lab work apparently didn't feel like doing their job. the actual DOCTOR ended up doing all of it by herself. she didn't seem too pleased about that and I don't blame her. read more

It is with a heavy heart that I'm writing this. But in honor of my pet's life, I must inform you of our experience. Last Tuesday, 7/25/23, we took our boxer here since he was breathing shallowly and was showing signs of distress. He wouldn't eat his food or drink anything, which made us question if something got stuck in his throat. When we arrived, they quickly got him to the back and started acting immediately. They took his temperature, which was at 105, so they began trying to get his temperature to lower. I am giving them two stars for their immediate action and the nurses who wanted to help him. We are thankful for the care that they did give him. We believed he might have had something stuck in his throat, so I asked if they could check, and they did x-rays. They told us that there was nothing seen in the X-rays. They did perform bloodwork, which showed 6 things that were elevated in our pet's blood. Each pointed to an infection; however, they misdiagnosed him as having a heat stroke. Due to this diagnosis, we were able to take him home after they had sedated him to bring his temperature down. Once we got home, he slept for over 12 hours (due to the medicine they gave him), but he was still declining rapidly. By Wednesday night, our dog was severely disorientated and not himself. We retook his temperature. It was 104.8. I called them again to see what we should do. They said we could bring him in but that he was still recovering from a heat stroke. We lowered his temperature to 102.6 within an hour and a half by putting cold towels and ice packs near him. We had called them multiple times to keep asking if they would re-look over the paperwork and if they saw anything else that should be treated. Due to us believing our dog had a heat stroke, we thought we just needed to keep trying to get his temperature to lower when in reality, he was breaking out in fevers because he had an infection. We still knew something was wrong and decided to take him to another vet Thursday morning. Unfortunately, they used the paperwork from this vet to further look into our pup, which is another mistake that cost our pet's life. With the diagnosis of having a heat stroke, they believed that he was still recovering from that and gave him fluids. Fast forward to Saturday morning, Diesel was sleeping but breathing lightly and seemed distressed again. I checked his temperature, and this time, it was 105.8. I called a new vet and began to try to lower it by using towels and ice packs again since I believed this was all the result of the heat stroke. They said the temperature was too high and to bring him in immediately. I rushed him to the vet hospital in North Scottsdale. They rushed him to the back immediately and started to look him over. Within 25 minutes, they told us he had pneumonia and a terrible infection. This whole time our pet was showing signs of infection, and we called to ask this vet multiple times if they could confirm if he did or didn't due to the 6 things being elevated in the blood work performed on Tuesday. They said it could be, or it's, cancer due to his breed/age. It was not cancer; it was not a heat stroke; in reality, our dog was fighting an infection that should've been caught on Tuesday, and because it was not, our pet passed away on Saturday. Advocate for your pet and ensure you demand the proper care and diagnosis for your animal. We are the only ones who know when they are not themselves. I write this with the hope that the outcome for your pet is better than it was for mine. read more

We got a 9-week old bunny for our son's 5th birthday. Upon bringing him home, we noticed our new bunny wasn't eating anything and assumed it was just the stress. The next four days he would eat but wasn't having any bowel movements. After MANY referrals from other animal clinics in our area who informed us they see exotic pets, we took our sweet Ferb to VEG and they were absolutely AMAZING!! Our bun was in GI stasis, which can very quickly kill bunnies, and they offered so much help and support! They helped us with supportive care and walked us through everything we needed to do to nurture our sweet boy back to health. Our nurse, Dallas, was so sweet and gentle and made it a point to consistently tell us she fully believed Ferb would pull through while I sat crying!! Dr. Bautista was very thorough and answered all of our questions and truly listened to every little worry we had. We really loved how sensitive, supportive, and helpful they all were while we were scared and worried about our sweet new addition. VEG will now be our go to Animal ER in the event we need urgent medical care for ANY of our pets! read more

We brought out frenchie in after they weren't feeling well. Right away, the staff was incredible. They tended to our frenchie with care and made him as comfortable as possible. In addition, they made my husband and I feel very at ease and were checking in on us periodically. What I loved about VEG was their evaluation area and how open it was. We were able to go back with our pup and be with him through every step. I also took note of how caring the staff was towards other pet parents. I'd highly recommend VEG to any pet parent. read more

Found out through another 24/7 vet that our 7 month old Husky puppy had an obstruction and needed surgery. We were quoted $10k. We already had spent $2k today on an ultrasound and other exam fees just to determine that he had an obstruction. We were referred here to Vet Emergency Group because we have limited funds and were told they would most likely be able to work with us. When we arrived I was crying and explained what was going on and they said it was "ridiculous" that we were quoted so much at the other vet. I was hopeful that they'd help us out. Instead they wanted us to use all money on our carecredit card PLUS apply for a $5k loan. They realized that our credit card and loan would cover $13k. Ironically when they brought us their estimate the total was $12k-$14k!! Way more than what the other 24/7 vet quoted us. We asked if they could work with us price wise and they said no. Would not recommend, although the concept is nice their prices are outrageous! Will get you to sign up for loans and care credit just to get more out of you. read more

The 1 star review is simply a reflection of the snarky and rude treatment I got from one of the workers I spoke to yesterday May 26th. I had already waited 2 hours when this woman with very short blonde hair let me know my dog who had an ear bite was next in line to be seen by a doctor. Half an hour passed from that point, so I called this worker and asked her, how much longer to be seen, and that I had been there almost 3 hours at that point. I only had a frustrated tone when I communicated this. She, however, proceeded to raise her voice at me, and lecture me in a patronizing and aggressive tone on how they had actively dying pets to care for, and all the extra tasks that entails, she did this in a disrespectful tone to which I just replied "Ooh". She could've been a professional and just inform me they had critical patients and apologize for the wait; that is great customer service! I have taken both my dogs here several times before and this is the second time one of the "assistants" talks to me in a condescending way when asked a question. I will now look for another emergency clinic option because I highly value compassionate treatment as many of us do. read more

I am so incredibly grateful for the team at VEG Emergency Vet on Camelback. Our 18-year-old dog passed away during the night, and being a Sunday on a holiday weekend, I wasn't sure what to do. I called them, and from the moment they answered, they were so compassionate and professional on the phone.They handle cremations at a very reasonable price, and I told them we would be right there. As we were walking up to the building, a kind person greeted us in the parking lot with a small gurney and escorted us to a beautifully peaceful room. It was dimly lit with relaxing music and candles. The team was incredibly compassionate about our situation and even took an ink print of her paw for us.In such a sad and emotional moment, they handled everything with the utmost care and respect. Firstly, pet owners are able to stay with their pets in a comfortable exam area versus being sequestered in a small room while your pet disappears into the abyss for hours on end before anyone comes back into the room. The exam area is open which parallels the level of communication by the staff. They are expeditious and frequent in their communications. Secondly, they genuinely care about the pets and their humans; this is evident from the minute you enter the facility. I called VEG and within 30 mins the staff there was examining my cat within 1 hour he was administered meds and given meds to take home. He is feeling better and happy. Just your basic corporate veterinarian clinic only in it for big profits. Just bring lots of money, lots and lots of money and they will take care of your pet. After surgery my dog needed drainage tubes installed to keep fluids from building up. After seven days they needed to be removed, since we travel a lot I couldn't make it back to the original Doctor that put the tubes in for a very reasonable $200, he told me any clinic would be able to remove them easily. I was quoted $970 by EVG for removal. I politely declined and was still charged $200 because they spent 10 minutes with my dog and got his weight and temperature. I had the most EXCELLENT experience at veterinary emergency group. I had a friend who's a mobile vet who suggested them to me and I couldn't have been more appreciative. My cat loves to eat things that aren't food (like plastic & tape) and after not eating for several days I could tell it was time to take her in as an emergency because she was just not doing well at all. I called them and explained the situation, they sent me some info to fill out and have ready before I got there and I was there within the hour. My pet ended up having surgery and staying overnight & I have to say, they were amazing from beginning to end. From check in to check out I couldn't ask for anything more. The entire staff was great, kept me up to date via phone call & text, left me messages if I couldn't answer and basically kept me in the loop as to how my lil girl Georgia was doing the entire time. I hope to not need them again but if something should ever happen with any of my pets I now know where I'll be going. Also this is not a place to go if you are on a budget. I'll leave it at that. Overall though, I felt like my cat got a good, thorough quality of care and that is what is most important. After having a HORRIBLE time at Blue Pearl down the street (I wish we would have read their reviews before we went there but we were in a panic) we took our blue heeler puppy here to VEG to be seen. They are amazing, caring, kind, and thorough in going over every detail with you. Your pet gets to stay with you, they get you right in and they have a big room where you get to see everyone working. It feels good to have some transparency, and see that the animals are being cared for. They also said since our puppy is staying overnight they could set us up with a room that has a pull out couch to sleep on, and we could spend the entire time with her. They even offered to let my daughter feed some baby kittens while they looked after our puppy. This place is a dream come true for pet owners who are going through a really scary time. AND it was a couple hundred bucks less expensive than the treatment options we were quoted at blue pearl. That's not why we came, but it's a bonus!! We'll never go anywhere else if we need emergency vet care. read more

I took my dog here after being told by ASPCA poison control that my dog needed to be immediately put on an IV for 2 days due to potential poisoning. I brought her immediately to VEG as it was close to my house and I knew time was of the essence. I gave them all the info. The ASPCA case number, the aspca phone number and said the dog needed to be on IV. The nurse went away. Came back 15 minutes later and asked who I got the diagnosis from. I once again said the aspca and the phone number was on the slip of paper I gave him. He said "are you sure it's the aspca?" I said yes and please call the toll free number I gave him. They then went away for a long time. The doctor finally came back and repeated everything I was already told. I just wanted my dog on IV. They went back for another 30-45 minutes (many staff members just playing on their phones while my dogs kidneys were at risk) and finally brought me a $5000 quote. I said ok but I just want to get the dog on IV! They then said "calm down sir". Well, I was calm. I gave up, asked for my slip of paper back (which they never gave me and the front desk guy threatened to call the police? ) I finally got a slip of paper from them and left and went to another vet clinic. When I realized they gave me the wrong aspca case number back I called them, said it was a matter of life and death for the number, THEY HUNG UP ON ME FOUR TIMES!! They hung up on my wife too!! Finally I called back and it wasn't the front desk guy but a vet and he gave me the number. So, this place is awful. It's also filthy. It's a giant room and a dog was being operated on to the left of me. To the right of me the nurses were looking at photos on their phone as I waited for an IV Also, the $5000 quote was double what the place in Scottsdale charged. I will also be filing a complaint with the Arizona Veterinary board. read more

Thank you first, then review second (skip to second paragraph)! I just have to say thank you to the staff at VEG Phoenix. You guys were so wonderful to me and my baby Bella. I was in tears and so distraught, but you all were so patient with me and walked me through the entire experience with so much patience and grace. I felt so loved and comforted by you all, and Bella fell in love with each and every one of you. You guys were so amazing in your handling of her and she was so excited to meet you all. Even in her critical and painful condition, she felt so comforted by your team that she didn't want to even sleep because she didn't want to miss out on anything (she's so nosey). Now onto the review -- y'all! This place is amazing. Yes, I was anxious and scared and distraught, but I was able to be present with Bella and her team at every step. They have a very open floor plan, so there is no need to wait up front to see what's going on, which I appreciate so much. I wish I took pictures. There's comfortable couches in almost every corner and on every open wall so you can stay with your pet the entire time. I was even able to watch my baby's surgery (though I really didn't watch, I just sat nearby, hoping she could feel my presence). The team was so great with Bella and she was so comfortable with them all (she loves attention, but gets nervous in new spaces) throughout her prep, surgery, and post surgery. They explained to me what was happening during the surgery and gave me all necessary updates. This team works together so well too, they often consulted each other and utilized each other for help which I found so comforting. Once she was out of surgery, they immediately put her on a heated pad to keep her body temperature normal, as her body temp dropped a bit. She loved it! I was able to bring her bed and blanket so she was as comfortable as possible! The team sat with me and discussed all my concerns, how to care for her when she came home, and what might be some things I can do to make her more comfortable. Also, when I brought her in I was so distraught and I kept asking the same questions and just didn't really understand anything past the basics, and they really helped me understand and repeated what was going on until I comprehensively understood! I just have to really note how amazing it was for me to be able to be with Bella every step of the way. It provided so much comfort for me. Again, thank you so much to Bella's team. You don't know even know how much you have touched mine and Bella's life, and now we can spend a few more years loving each other. You guys are a blessing to families and our fur babies, and I'll forever be in your gratitude. read more

I cannot say enough about how wonderful this staff is! We just moved to Arizona and our Himalayan was not acting right , sadly he passed after I called this vet to bring him in. It was such a traumatic experience and they took such good care of me, Charlie and were so sweet even sending me a card from the staff. They cremated Charlie in the cutest urn with some fur on the urn and a paw print. I love this group ! read more
