They handle him with so much care and love, which means everything to us as pet parents. WARNING to dog owners! Beware of ARK promotions...! I've never had a more deceitful or demeaning experience than I did at this establishment. I was thrilled to move both of my rescue shepherds to ARK as they were at two different vets from two different rescues. I have an 11 year old and a 4 year old. The initial visits were normal shots and I was handed multiple quotes for treatments - one being dental for my elder Shepherd. It was in the $1300-1700 range depending on how many teeth they would need to pull under anesthesia. I was skeptical and not convinced it was something we needed to put him through at his age or stage. Then a promotion popped up in my inbox during the month of August - "$250 for $50 gift cards towards dental work" & "you can buy multiple" and the fine print read "gift cards may be used on one dog." So I bought a multiple of 6 gift cards for my 1 dog that needed dental. WOW what a deal! Or so I thought... I called to make sure I was reading the deal correctly before purchasing, they assured me. I asked again when I booked the appointment, they assured me. I spoke of my excitement for the deal when we went in for the preparation bloodwork, they assured me. The morning of I spoke with the vet tech about how I was going to pay with multiple gift cards, they assured me. It wasn't until I arrived at pickup 7 hours later that the owner appeared from her office in a rush to let me know that I could only use ONE of the SIX gift cards I had purchased to pay. When I asked them to show me the fine print of what I purchased they scrambled to find me an old email promotion. I was never provided with the fine print, I was never provided with the EXACT purchase portal I used... Just a little laugh from the staff, an accusation that "I must have read it wrong", and a $1000 bill I wasn't expecting - BEWARE!!! Overall, my dog is fine and recovering. He will be ok. I'd do anything for him so this abrupt inconvenience too shall pass. Truthfully I wasn't pleased that I've never seen the same veterinarian or tech at ARK - a sign of big business. They don't know my dogs by name, they apparently know them by number$$$. Less than 16 hours later I switched them over to Arcadia Animal Clinic and I am already feeling much more at peace with their future care! A local clinic with local pricing and the same three vets. All this to say - Dear Owner, Before you reply to this post - I know you video record every appointment in the rooms, perhaps the phone calls too. I recommend that you review my appointment footage and the audio recordings. I recommend that you find the exact promotion emails (there were multiple), click through, and review the checkout link lingo. Blaming it on the fact that you don't have access to the promotional email portal is wildly unprofessional. You may keep my surprise $1000, but my recommendation (or lack there of now) is priceless. read more

Our first visit with the team at Ark Vets and we are very pleased. We made an appointment to bring in our 18 year old cat who was just not feeling well. We thought perhaps she was suffering from a UTI. They got us in quickly and our tech Judith was very helpful and kind. After some testing, we met Dr. Velasquez and she was very helpful explaining to us what going on. We got some sub cutaneous fluids into the cat, some meds to help with her appetite and a recommendation for an extra hydration supplement. Our cat has stage 3-4 kidney disease and is currently ill but overall healthy. The staff were very helpful and friendly. They struck just the right note with us. Our cat wasn't even too freaked out. We made our appointment because we were unable to get in to our regular vet. That being said, I would recommend Ark Vets for anyone and their pets. Good job guys! read more

I worked with Ark Vets and a 3rd party to assist in paperwork for my dogs international travel a few years ago. I wanted to work directly with Ark Vets to accomplish the same as i now understand the process and paperwork required and do not need the assistance of a 3rd party. This vet will not accept appointments without enforcing a 3rd party is involved. No conversation or discussion regarding the paperwork i already have. I do not recommend working with a vet willing to enforce a 3rd part tax. read more

I wanted to like this vet because of the hours they are open and location is convenient but my experience wasnt the best. They charged more for the office visit than advertised on the website and then they claim on the website: "We believe in transparent pricing and will always provide detailed treatment estimates before proceeding with any procedures. We'll explain all recommended treatments and associated costs so you can make informed decisions about your pet's care..." yet before communicating anything they performed a 15 second ultrasound that I was then charged $250 for, resulting in about $350 bill without communicating at all about pricing before hand. For these reasons I cant recommend this vet which is a bummer because of how close it is to my home. (literally at the end of the street a couple blocks down). read more

Hands down the most friendly and genuinely caring team of vets! My sweet miniature pinscher, Lexi, is usually terrified of meeting new people -- but the team at Arkvets made her feel safe, loved, and so well taken care of. Every time we go back, she walks in with confidence instead of fear, and that alone speaks volumes. Lexi recently had a few lumps removed and also got her teeth cleaned. I dropped her off in the morning and picked her up that same afternoon -- everything was seamless. She healed beautifully, and the team checked in often, making sure I had everything I needed and answering any questions with so much patience and kindness. We have been going to ArkVets for over 5 years and have been happy with the care that we have received. However, the communication and follow up from the staff has noticeably declined over the past year. From information on tests to prescription refills, it can take repeated phone calls to get results and information. I am not sure what has changed in the past year, but the facility is just not the same. read more

My cat was terminally sick so I brought her in to be euthanized. I arrived early and was sent to an exam room with my cat. I found the room temperature to be very cold and there were glaring, harsh overhead lights. It was not the environment I'd want the last minutes of my sick pet's life to experience. The tech arrived late and was not an empathetic person. She was "clinical" without any recognition of the suffering my cat was enduring. After she left I had to wait a long time for the veterinarian to arrive. Before she did my cat died on its own. They then tried to sell me cremation packages etc. I refused to discuss any of this with them because they only cared about the money they could make, not about my beloved pet or me. This is the problem with medicine for a profit. read more

Staff didn't diagnose the problem, they offered some options to provide "comfort;" however, I left still needing a 2nd opinion. Horrible experience. My late cat wasn't well. I spent hundreds to fully test her, they drew fluids there, I submitted a fecal sample a couple days later. No response after a week. I called, was put on hold for a long time, then finally told they'd call me back. I waited another week, and called them again, as I never got a call back. Long hold again, then a tech finally got on the phone saying tests were negative, as in, my cat was ok. I asked for a copy of the results, as again, I'd paid hundreds. They said they'd email them to me. I never got them and called several days later. Again, very long hold. Finally a tech got on the phone and said she'd email them to me. I got them, but almost all the results said "pending". I totally question whether they tested her at all, just collecting hundreds from me. A month later she was ailing again, so I returned. I saw a different vet, a "relief" vet, I guess regular vet out. She was also confused that almost all test results from prior visit showed "pending", then mentioned the call the vet made to me about the results that my cat was in kidney failure, per notes in file. The vet NEVER called me and no one told me she was in kidney failure. I had no idea she was dying, I'd have spoiled her more and changed her diet had I known that. They took her away and claimed to have given her fluids and appetite enhancer, I doubt they did, after prior visit, Im convinced I paid for nothing. She died in my arms 2 days later, no check up call from them. Like they did for my other cat they said had anxiety. I have zero trust or confidence in this office. I recommend avoiding them. They hid behind bushes whenever I called, gave me a wrong diagnosis and gave me pages of test results that said "pending", indicating to me they didn't test all they charged me for. Don't let them break your heart and wallet like they did me. read more

This will 100% be mama's new vet. From the moment I walked in they were friendly, greeted me and my dog. It's also very clean! They knew she was in training and they asked if it was okay to pet her and kept the boundaries for her to make sure she continued doing her training. They sat on the floor with her (and me) while doing the exam and really heard me and my concerns. They did not push any unnecessary things. We do have to go see an orthopedic doctor which they had a place for us to go. I would absolutely recommend them. read more

My other dog had swelling under her eye a few months ago I tried washing her eye and avoiding a vet bill at essentially all costs. I had her examined and turned out she had major tooth problems and abscesses that needed to be removed asap. I went all around trying to find a better price but just wasn't happy. I finally came back here and had the surgery set for the vet next day after I called and they did an amazing job. I'm writing this review and my baby is 2 months post-op from them. That night she was back to normal activity and the follow up was amazing. Price was worth every penny. Both experiences I've had here has been worth every cent. Had I went with their initial quote it would've been $1200-$1300 to diagnose this UTI. Only symptom was a little discharge and random accidents. My dog is 14. Once I learned vets get commission for upselling you on services, everything started making sense at this place. I won't be back. read more

I want to thank this office. We brought our Miniature Schnauzer in early one morning after she collapsed, vomited, seizure...the whole works. Staff immediately ensured she was stable and then got to work. The vet spoke to our regular vet's office, did tests and established that she had an anaphylactic reaction to something. They treated her quickly and were so caring and kind...to her and us! I was most impressed with the way they collaborated with our other vet's office to make sure the treatment was agreed on. This is a level of coordination I haven't seen before! She was hospitalized for the day and returned the next day for another day at the hospital and more tests and fluids. We saw two vets during our 2 days there and both were patient, kind and caring. They carefully explained everything to us and answered a lot questions. She is now fully recovered and back to her old self. I feel better knowing Desert Ark is nearby. I also want to say how kind the vet techs we interacted with were. They seemed to genuinely care about our dog and that put my mind at ease read more

I have been taking my dogs to this vet for 3 or 4 years now. Have stuck with them because I liked the vets, even though they have poor customer service. This week was the ending for me. On Monday, March 31 2025 I requested a refill on eye meds for my boxer. Their voice mail says give them 48 hours. On Wednesday, I called to see what was going on because no one had the courtesy to call me and let me know what was going on. This is the second time this happened to me. Today, April 3, 2025, I stopped by the office. The receptionist looked up the information and informed me it had just been approved by the Dr. I asked her if I could get the prescription and she said "it has been approved, but not filled yet". She told me she would go see if they could fill it for me while I was there. I waited about 15 minutes and finally the vet tech came out and told me the Doctor would not fill it until I brought my dog in again. She has been there for the same thing more than once, and they want me to bring her in again??? For what. To charge me for another office visit that will do nothing. I asked for her medical records and told them I will find a vet that cares for the patient, not just the money. I did another review on this office which was also not good last year in August. It had to do with terrible service when I had to have my other dog put down....All I can say is I hope other people and their pets get better service and courtesy than I have. Attempted to de-matt him at home and knicked his skin pretty badly. They patched him up with staples and helped us finish the job by shaving him down under proper medical supervision. They also did not charge any fees to remove the staples 2 weeks later. I'm very happy they are close by. The more pet care clinics available the better! read more

Everyone in this office made a rough situation a little easier. I brought my 10 year old German shepherd for what we thought was possible hip or back pain and found out he had a mass that ruptured. Dr. Starr and her team were the most kind and compassionate. They were honest with us and loved my boy along side us to the very end. I grew up in animal rescue so I have euthanized many dogs but this was different because he was my baby. I had to bring my timid pup Charlie on a Saturday after she badly tore her dew claw. I was referred to Desert Ark since I couldn't bring her to her normal vet. Kathleen was so sweet on the phone and told me to come in right away. Everyone from start to finish was so friendly, timely, and professional. Dr. LaBarge and Brittany were very attentive and thorough with explaining Charlie's treatment plan. Dr. LaBarge even informed me to reconsider changing her diet for some possible risks to her health, which she didn't need to do but really went the extra mile to show she cares and knows what she's doing. Charlie doesn't love being separated from her owners but I didn't hear her make a peep when they took her back to treatment and fixed her up. I was in and out within 2 hours of calling them and, not that it matters because you do whatever you can when your dog needs help, but was also pleasantly surprised with how affordable treatment was. I was expecting $400 out the door for an emergency visit, but came in WELL under that. And they gave her a pink bandage, which was just so stinking Charlie and I are both so thankful for the Desert Ark team and Dr. LaBarge! read more

Took my dog in to check his paw because he was limping. Right off they bat they recommended an xray ($750) without even thoroughly assessing his paw. I thought that was a little excessive for first steps so asked if we could just get some medicine to start. The very next day after 1 dose of the medication, my dog had horrible diarrhea that lasted 2 full days. It got so bad we had to take him to the ER. At the ER they immediately said a potential side effect of the drug was vomiting and diarrhea, which we were NOT told before hand by Desert Ark.. The biggest issue is that when we reached back out to Desert Ark to tell them what happened they refused any refund and didn't even acknowledge the fact that our dog was worse off than before we visited them! Bad experience and we won't be back here. read more
