Love what Ghost Town is doing. They are saving dogs and pups from kill shelters and ensuring they go to good homes instead. Our Willow was rescued by Ghost Town Dog Rescue from a kill shelter in Texas. Their fees are reasonable ($350) and come with all their puppy shots and spay/neuter plus a one month health guarantee where they will provide and shots or meds needed your first month home. A 5 star review doesn't feel near enough to sing Ghost Town's praises. I adopted my little guy about a month ago. He's had a bad case of kennel cough (not surprising coming from a shelter, and who knows where before they rescued him) unfortunately, we've had trouble kicking the cough (he's so little, and so young) but Liza has gone so ABOVE, above and beyond, to make sure he's healthy and comfortable. She's provided him with personal care, allowed me to text her with questions/concerns (she did *not* have to do this with her personal time..texting with a worried fur-baby mom can be a lot..) she even lent me a humidifier to make him more comfortable, and continues to this day, a month out from adoption, to do everything she can for my puppy and myself. I am legitimately blown away by the compassion I've been shown. Ghost Town, specifically and especially Liza, have reminded me that there are genuinely good people out there who just want to do right by you. You can feel their love for these animals, and it has continued to show well beyond adoption day. If you're looking to rescue and adopt a pup or dog, I'd put full faith in Ghost Town that you're going to get a happy, healthy, loved and well cared for companion. I genuinely can't thank the folks at Ghost Town enough. P.S. I've read a few reviews claiming Ghost Town is a scam because they request a deposit...Let me shut down that claim right now. Before adopting you have the *option* to pay a portion of your adoption fee upfront, so nobody else can adopt the dog you love. Personally, I'm grateful to have had this option, I had many dogs swiped out from under me before I found Jack. Keep in mind the "deposit" (really just a portion of your total adoption fee) is an *option*, not a must-do. This gives you the option for them to hold the dog you love for you. The deposit just goes towards the adoption fee (that you'll be paying either way..). The adoption fee covers all up to date vaccinations, spay/neuter, rabies shot, microchip, 1 year county licensing, and a 14 day medical guarantee (which I can tell you from experience, they stand by) Worth it? I recently went in to meet a sweet puppy, unfortunately she was a bit bigger than what I wanted so she just wasn't the right fit for me. While there I heard multiple dogs barking a few feet away behind a curtain. I asked if I could see the other animals today to see if I could find a better fit for me. Ray said no and that I would have to schedule another appointment. That's not what I had a problem with even though it was strange. Why couldn't I see them? It is a small space so my guess is he has them all crated up in tiny crates crammed together and that's why I couldn't see them at all. The dog I was seeing peed and pooped on the floor, no big deal, it's a dog things happen. But ray explained to me that they didn't have time to take her outside before I got there. My appointment was at 12. He also said everyday they leave by 4:00 and do not get back in until the following day between 8:30-9:00. These poor dogs are alone for god knows how long and then ignored when people finally get there. Ray is in it for the money and that kills me. Who requires a $150 reservation fee just to see a dog?!?! Ghost town does. I would love to say don't go there because he's shady and in it for the money but my heart breaks for the poor dogs. Ray if you see this, I will be reporting. You to anywhere and everywhere that I am able to so you might want to clean up the dogs sooner than later. read more

I have adopted a fourth dog from Ghost Town, a sweet husky Staffordshire terrier mix named Khleo! She is absolutely perfect! Ghost town has yet again, matched my family with the perfect addition to my family! They even checked on my other dogs, knowing them by name and remembering details about them. This shelter is underrated. I read through the reviews before deciding to adopt and I was extremely skeptical to adopt because of the non-refundable deposit but this is a legit shelter. The veterinarian Liza is so personable. I adopted my new best friend here and I could not be more happy. They take very good care of their dogs. They are spayed/neutered, vaccinations, and the 2 week vet services is no joke. My dog had some health concerns after we adopted him because he was a rescue so obviously he hadn't been in the best care before arriving at Ghost Town Dog Rescue, and Liza worked with us. I found a stray puppy three days ago and put her on my Facebook, Greenfield Neighbors Facebook, Straydar, Nextdoor and Maricopa County but nothing. I took her to my vet and had her checked for a chip but she didn't have one. I then drove around the neighborhood looking for signs but once again nothing. I live in an apartment and am not allowed any more animals so finally this morning I had to take her to Ghost Town. The man that was working the front counter is with out a doubt the rudest person I've come across in a long time. He treated me like a piece of crap, dumping a puppy. So not even 45 minutes after I brought her in, one of my friends contacted me wanting the pup. We went up to Ghost Town together and the rude man refused to let us have her! He wouldn't even let us see her but then finally went back and picked her up for three seconds so we could see her. My friend said he wanted her and the rude man said he had to wait 7 days. So my friend said "ok" and wanted to leave his phone number but the man refused to take it and said "just come back in 7 days". To the rude man up front....you are an a$$ that needs a heart and some customer service lessons! Your attitude STINKS to high heaven! To the people reading this, don't bring animals here, they are kept in tiny cages, the place is a dump and they charge $450.00 to sell these poor dogs. I went to their Facebook page and posted the truth about what they did and they deleted the post. I'll tell you why...they don't want people to know that they make a big, fat, living off of selling lost souls. read more

When a family goes and applies for an animal, and you believe that an animal won't be a great fit for the area in which they live. Maybe ask more questions, or provide more options. Don't be a complete a hole. We were wanting to adopt Alula, and instead of taking the time to understand where we are coming from you gave us a short answer and refused to even find a dog that may be better suited or to ask if our apartment living was temporary. We have been going to GT to see their rescue dogs for awhile. We finally found our precious new baby Shelby we were so pleased with the adoption process. We had a great experience adopting from Ghost Town. We saw our pup online first and reached out through the Ghost Town Facebook page. They got back to me quickly with more information. When we arrived at their adoption event, they were very busy, but organized, knowledgable, and the owner was very sweet! They also do puppy vaccinations on site if you adopt from them, which we appreciate. They also send us home with a leash and harness. I lost my two beloved babies several years ago due to age and health. When I decided the time had come to open my heart again I started looking at shelters to rescue. The local shelter was so overcrowded and dogs were over 40 lbs, too big for my needs. At a recent adoption event I spent many hours at their facility getting to know a 4 year old pup. I had been looking for a rescue puppy for a while. I found exactly what I had been hoping to find through Petfinder at Ghost Town Dog Rescue. Unlike other places, Ray answered my inquiry in about an hour, most other places no longer had the puppy I was interested in by they time they responded. Ray was knowledgeable and friendly, and made an appointment for me to get the puppy the next day. They provided thorough health/vaccination records and processed the paperwork in probably 20 minutes. He even started to do her dog license paperwork, which is amazing. The puppy is healthy, alert, well socialized, curious and trusting - she is free of common anxieties/issues that can accompany rescue puppies. I'm really sad to give them only 2 stars. I had high hopes for them, my family has volunteered there and I've only heard great things about them. I was really excited to go here when we got our dog. We went in not really expecting anything, we weren't even sure if we were going to choose that day. We looked at some of the dogs (almost every one of them online are described as affectionate and sweet haha). We saw a couple cute ones and we talked to the owner Lisa about what we were looking for and we told her our only specifics were we want a Boy and a dog that will get Big. It was great! She just got a litter in the back that were Belgian Malinois/ German Shepard mix. They were puppies so they had time to grow and learn commands from us. We wanted an older dog but when she brought the puppies out my heart melted. We played with a couple from the litter and fell in love with the boy named Alvin. Sold! We bought him, but they kept him for a couple days so he could be fixed because they do that with all the dogs. No problem at all. I came back picked him up and took him home, everything was perfect with our new addition to the family. Or so I thought until she called me two weeks later to ask if my dog had "male parts" and if I could look to make sure ... sure enough through all of the excitement my dog was a girl... so we went back to get the correct paperwork which was heartbreaking because the boy we actually chose (her brother) hadn't been adopted yet and was in one of the first cages up front. But we already bonded so much i couldn't trade them. We should have been able to adopt the brother for free in my opinion.. it is a rescue shelter after all.., anyway.. fast forward to my now 6 month old German Shepherd dog that stands 1 1/2 feet off the ground, ears down, and no signs of growing. We went in wanting a big boy dog and got the exact opposite. A girl possibly part wiener dog. Im dissatisfied with this place, I'm not sure if she just really wanted to get rid of the dogs or what the miscommunication was. Most of the dogs online say Shepard mix so I don't think she knows the right breed and just wants people to buy them so she tells people they're all sheph mix. read more

Per their website it states "100% foster based rescue", which I would take to mean... all dogs are in a foster homes prior to being adopted, after speaking to one of the gals working at the facility, that is not the case! There were probably 10-15 dogs that stay in kennels at the facility over night. Most of the kennels the dogs were in, had poo in them, the dogs had to be in the kennel with just the metal bottom of the crate with their poo on it, and a potty pad on the tray UNDERNEATH the metal bottom. I did not see any bedding for them to lay on, they had to lay on the metal bottom. : ( I understand, that kennels get dirty but, I really felt bad for the dogs. Also, 99% of the dogs on their website say they are not potty trained, which again when they are being rescued from different sources, you just never know, and I understand that, but always living in kennels, of course they are not going to be potty trained because that's all they know to do... go potty when and where they are, because no one is paying attention to them to take when they need to and help to get them potty trained. If they were 100% foster based as stated, these dogs would start getting potty trained properly by being with a foster family. I am just very disappoint and sad they advertise "100% foster based" when that is NOT TRUE!!!! My heart has been sad for these dogs since I saw them in dirty kennels. read more
