Would give zero stars if I could. Had us there for a total of five hours, all they did was an ultrasound and an x ray and it was $1500. They claim to care about your pet but they care more about your money. My dog needed surgery to remove a foreign body, they kept telling me the sooner we took care of it the better. Although they finished the ultrasound at 8am and no one came back until I got tired of waiting & called a technician at 10am. Our second and last time coming here, both times they threw us in a room and forgot about us. I tried to give them a second chance but both my sanity and my bank account wish I hadn't even given them a first chance. read more

This review has taken me several weeks to complete (not in a bad way). My poor old girl needed to be put down on a Sunday evening. The staff was so attentive. We called ahead to let them know she was unable to move. They came out to the car and whisked her in and immediately put in a catheter and administered oxygen. She didn't have much life left in her. They put us in a room, I was able to sit on the floor with her as she took her last breath.The vet said she had a good life, she was 16! I left there a whole blubbering mess. I opted to have her cremated. I received an email 3 days later that she was ready to be picked up. The box was beautiful, and the paw print was a perfect way to remember my precious baby. The staff also sent a sympathy card. I miss my girl, but I feel like she was in excellent caring hands for her last moments. read more

These kind folks are the best around. I brought my cat Nori in, and we discovered she had severe kidney numbers, and we were not sure if she would be able to bounce back. The Dr's who treated her Dr. Petras, Dr. Warren, and Dr. Gros) never gave up on her, and after three days, she was able to come home with me. Their offer that I could come and stay and be with her as much as I needed to be meant the world. One of their exam rooms had a little window, and she spent a whole day on fluids looking at the birds. From them on, they made sure she got daily window to e, a cozy cat bed/house, they even played some 'cat tv' for her when they could spare an ipad. Suzie, her ER nurse, Sat on the floor with me and made sure I was comfortable administering the meds that are part of our new daily routine. Every person that interacted with brought their A game all day, every day that we were there. read more

I'll update this review with more detail after more time passes and we get a chance to grieve. We just lost our dog tonight, we made the impossible decision to put Brooke to sleep. For as hard and painful of a situation as this was, the one blessing we had was finding this place. They could not have treated us and Brooke with more love, dignity, compassion, respect, urgency and attention, so much so that I feel called to share at least part of our experience just hours after his loss in the hope that more people are encouraged to bring their beloved pets here in the chaos of an emergency. We were seen right away--zero wait tomand a whole team surrounded Brooke as he was evaluated and we were presented our options. There was complete transparency and our involvement every step of the way was not only welcome, but encouraged. After we were done saying our goodbyes some of the wonderful staff shed a few tears with us and gave us the best, most comforting hugs. Brooke could not have been in better hands in the end. These wonderful people truly care and you'll feel it from beginning to end. They also treat the financial aspect of it all very respectfully and they insisted that we not worry about finalizing payment (after authorization) until after we were done saying goodbye and they welcomed us to take our time. They have extremely comfortable private rooms that make you feel like you're in a nice room in a home. You don't experience the coldness (both literal and figurative) of a typical vet facility. Please Read - I had came across two stray kittens and took them to VEG PHX as I have been told if they're sick they would take them in and care for them for humane society to then take. **I had also went to VEG once for my own pet which was a pleasure experience.** At arrival the technician that took us back and the technician that helped us were a pleasure! Once Dr. Kaitlyn Sullivan greeted us and stated that the kittens both had URI's (upper respiratory infection) and then proceeded to say that they do not take in strays who are healthy and only sick/injured. This was quite contradicting since a URI is an infection & would need medication. Dr. Kaitlyn Sullivan then proceeded to say she was going to be honest with us that if we did not keep the kittens and they went to humane society that human society would kill them, this was very upsetting to hear and alarming a doctor would say this so blunt with no compassion or care. The doctor then proceeded to ask if we could keep the kitten which I had let her know was not possible as my two BIG dogs would kill/severely hurt them. Dr Sullivan said she needs to consult with her staff to see if they're willing to keep them, which she walks about 10-15 feet away with a group of staff whispering, making the situation so awkward, not even behind closed doors etc. I thought this was so very unprofessional and uncomfortable even, after several minutes she had came back lecturing us that they were not a rescue and could not be doing this, there are so many resources besides us, etc -and almost as if she was shamming us for bringing in these sick kittens. After her lecture she had then asked again if they provided resource's for us if we could keep the kittens and we had let her know it was not physically possible. Dr. Kaitlyn Sullivan gave us an unfortunate stare and proceeded to say they would take the kittens this one time but not to do it again. It felt as if she was degrading us- talking to us like we didn't know anything, embarrassing us as she was "lecturing". I understand that VEG phx is an emergency animal hospital! Just did not appreciate being "lectured"/ and embarrassed by this doctor!! read more

They claim to care for animals but take forever to assist them. My usual doctor didn't have any openings for my exotic pet so I had to come here. My normal doctor only takes 30 mins and assists me fast and properly. I've been waiting for over two hours it should not take this long to attend to an animal. Especially when the place isn't busy. I would have left if it wasn't for my pet needing to be seen today. They over charge so much just to keep you waiting, they recommend a lot of things to have you worried and to spend more. They don't offer any kind of pet insurance to help you out and their payment plans are bullshit. The staff is nice but it seems like they just love to stand around, talk, and act like they're working. It's not a functional place. There's no sign / need for passion or urgency. Which is completely sad. Every time a new pet comes in everyone stops what they're doing and swarm around the new person like as if they weren't just finally helping those who've been here for hours. There's one staff member a nurse that you can tell has been working here for a while but all she does is walk around and listen to conversations but doesn't move a finger to help out. Long wait time for basic assessment/lab/imaging. Called prior to visiting and was assured this warranted an emergency visit. After about 4 hours of waiting, it was evident that this wasn't a true emergency. If so, assessment and treatment would have been provided swiftly. Ultimately, she was seen and the wrong treatment plan provided. Thankfully was able to get her into her vet the next day to fix the errors made by the very nice attending. read more

I had to bring in my pet because she was suffering badly and I couldn't let her go that way. The staff was very kind to me and comforting and I sobbed over a little hamster. They didn't treat her any different because of the type of animal she was, and although I felt a little silly being so shattered over her, they were EXTREMELY empathetic and compassionate of my situation. They allowed me to have the time I needed with her, and they were very gentle and handled her with care. When they brought her back to me she was wrapped and positioned her to look like she was peacefully sleeping in a box so I could take her home and lay her to rest. Shortly after, I received a card in the mail signed from the staff, and that honestly made me feel so comforted it was such a kind gesture that I appreciate so much. I can truly tell that these people care about animals, and the people that come in as well. Thank you so much for your kindness. read more

This emergency vet clinic is quite possibly the quickest vet of any kind that I've ever been to, with the kindest staff and veterinarians who make every effort to learn how they can better help their patients. I came in about a day ago with my hedgehog, Mika, because I thought she was passing after seeing some concerning behavior and I wanted to ease her suffering. I was greeted by a vet tech whose name I can't remember, but she had glasses and red hair; it was a stressful night and everyone's names kind of slipped past me. She mentioned having a hedgehog herself and knew quite a bit about them even though this particular clinic doesn't specialize in exotics. Her and the doctor did a quality of life check on Mika before jumping to any decisions, and placed her into a cage with oxygen because she was struggling to breathe. They also let me sit with her the entire time. The doctor told me she'd do some researching with her exotic vet contacts to see what the best option for my pet was, and she explained to me (after a very brief wait) that any further testing or procedures would require sedation and with my pet being in the state she's in, and being a small animal, the sedation itself could be deadly for her. I had to make the decision to euthanize her because no matter what they were willing to try, she was too small and fragile to survive the sedation required to do any of it. They helped me to feel sure of my decision for euthanasia because obviously any pet owner will want to feel no doubt whatsoever that they are making the correct decision. The very nice vet tech from earlier then came over and had me fill out paperwork, and explained what they would do for the euthanasia. She was gentle and empathetic and spoke with care about everything. She let me cry and explained that this was in Mika's best interest. She then sedated my hedgehog and let me sit with her for probably close to 10 minutes alone before checking to see if I was ready for the euthanasia, reassuring me that if I wasn't ready I could wait for a little longer, and took her to a separate room to perform it. That is, after she let me cry all over her for a solid few minutes. She also did explain to me earlier that they can't do an IV on a hedgehog with them being too small to find a vein, and gave me the name of the procedure they do instead, but I told her not to explain what it was. I'm assuming if they don't allow me in the room while they do it that I don't want to see it or even know what it is. She reassured me when she came back afterwards that she wasn't in pain and didn't feel any of it. She also made me free paw prints of my baby's little feet, several different poses and all incredibly sweet. She handled her gently, as I asked for her remains to be released to me as-is, and was very kind throughout the entire process. That day was incredibly difficult but this vet tech and the rest of the staff made a very upsetting experience as painless as it could possibly be. And they took good care of my baby up until the very end, which matters more to me than anything else. I hope I don't ever have to come back with another pet, but if I do I know we're in good hands. read more

This is the best emergency/after hours vet in Phoenix! Called them late on evening about an issue with my cat. I spoke with a Dr immediately, not an appointment setter. The next morning I went in (my regular vet was unavailable), and we saw a wonderful vet (Dr Toomey) within minutes. He quickly diagnosed the problem ( an abscess on the mouth), cleaned it up etc and gave me antibiotics and pain meds. I was in and out within 45 minutes! Staff was also just wonderful. This is THE place for after hours emergency vet services. 5 stars PLUS! You will pay more here than your regular vet ($185.00) for the office call, but you can't put a price on peace of mind, or our fur babies well being. read more

I've been here three times in the past week and have had nothing but positive experiences. The staff is quick, compassionate and very experienced. They meet your pet where they're comfortable, which was very helpful for my fearful dog. They also keep you updated on everything going on with your pet and allow you to participate in the care if you're comfortable. My pet was non-critical, so our wait was longer but I saw the team tend to several emergencies as soon as they walked through the door. I seriously cannot say enough good words about this place. I had gone with my small dog back in January who had an abscess burst due to a tooth issue, and Dr. Morrison helped me out tremendously that evening, and I was able to get him to his regular vet the next day to fix the problem. Just last night my cat, who was about halfway through her pregnancy, was going through her body rejecting the babies which resulted in the need for an emergency surgery. Dr. Bancroft was on shift when I brought her in and again was incredibly helpful and empathetic towards the situation, as well as the rest of the staff, who are all very clearly passionate about what they do. Dr. Sullivan performed the surgery on my cat the following afternoon, and they updated me both during and after the surgery as well as allowing me to visit her whenever I wanted to. I genuinely cannot think of a better place to take your animals if you are in a situation where you need help, because they have gone above and beyond expectations during the times that I have needed them. read more

But with VEG, the experience was amazing from the vet initial phone, walk in and check out process. I did not once feel u wanted or worried and I felt the vet techs and veterinarian all did a splendid job. Although my Nova's diagnosis is still unknown for to pending lab results, I still confident know I g she will be okay as they took proactive precautionary steps to get her feeling better. wow just wow. my poor baby nova was shaking and wobbling. couldn't walk. i was hysterical and crying. i could barely talk to the staff but they never once made me feel like i was nuisance. everyone there was amazing and friendly. very reassuring. got her in immediately and made everything very seamless. i have severe anxiety so naturally i got sick from the stress of something possibly being seriously wrong with my baby and they were able to give me ice packs and gaterade. they got my husband water and snacks. they put nova in a dark room with us to help her rest and the couch turned into a bed so i could lay down with her. they kept checking on her while she was getting fluids. they gave her a blanket to be wrapped in while she rested. i truly felt like they cared. i can't recommend this place enough. the doctor and staff were just beyond amazing. nova ray is doing well and i will definitely come back here again and recommend this place to everyone i know. read more

Don't be fooled by the posted 5 star ratings. It's all about the money. Hospital ambience is pleasant. Staff, by and large, were caring. Services, however, were disappointing. My cat was admitted for severe constipation. I provided detailed records of previous episodes and remedies. I was provided with 2 plans of attack - at 2 differing costs. I chose the less aggressive 12 hr. procedure, which included an enema and deobstipation. I was upfront about financial restraints (no exceeding the $2300 upper cost, which included an overnight stay), Payment was required prior to treatment. My cat was seen by 3 doctors, Wellard, Gros and Lee. Of the 3, Wellard was most helpful in addressing the problem, by providing not only an enema but also attempting to physically remove the blockage. Gros replaced Wellard, and suggested that the cat remain hospitalized for an additional 12 hrs., to enable the administration of additional enemas. Lee replaced Gros. I have no idea what services Gros or Lee provided, other than monitoring. After the lapse of about 22 hrs., I contacted Lee was contacted and was advised that additional hospital time was recommended. I was told, however, that the cat had had 3 enemas and that the remaining blockage was passable with the administration of a stool softener at home. I asked for the cat to be discharged. Billing indicated that only 1 enema was given and 1 deobstipation was performed. About 36 hrs. after discharge, the cat had not even approached the litter box, and I called Lee, who dismissed my complaints with a reminder that with "limited funds" that was the outcome. The bottom line is that this facility did not help my cat and additional hospitalization at another facility was required. read more
