Service isn't great and could be improved really: the waiter we got seemed overwhelmed and inattentive which was frustrating. Okay the food here is seriously amazing. To be clear you are not going for the ambiance - you're here for the delish food. The bread they bring out- unstoppable. The sangria was not great and they only do wine/beer. HOWEVER- *****the garlic chicken*****- is one of the best meals I've ever eaten. I haven't stopped thinking about it since I ate it. My family was thrilled to hear that there was a 3rd Versailles location located in the valley. I ordered through GrubHub because my family was in town and we wanted to eat in, but still wanted to get a taste of Versailles before leaving LA. Ended up ordering 2 family meals - one with garlic chicken and the other with ropa vieja. Sides we got beans, rice, and of course plantains. Was ready for pick up in 25 minutes. I followed Troy H's advice on the lengua and did not regret it one bit!! It was fantastic and complemented well the two Cubano sandwiches I ordered! The flan was also tasty, but its not as sweet as other flans I have had (not good or bad, just if you like super sweet flan this isn't it). DO NOT DINE HERE. Extremely disappointed and felt discriminated against. I'm a black woman and my partner Asian and have never experienced this level of rudeness here before. We ordered a Caesar salad and was given a house salad with an entire dressing bottle on the side. Waited a long while for our food and noticed the Caucasian couple received their food several minutes before us and they arrived several minutes after we ordered. Our server NEVER checked in on our table not even for a water refill. We were completely ignored by the entire staff. Found Versailles on Yelp when we were in Encino. Excellent choice we had a very friendly waiter. The menu is extensive with many choices of each protein. Generous servings of entree & all sides, so we have some left overs for a light lunch. There were a lot of people eating in the dining room set up for social distancing. We chose to eat outside on this beautiful summer evening. There was also a bunch of pickup orders going out the door. I came for dinner with some of my girlfriends and this was my first time here. I hadn't had Cuban food in a long time so this was a nice treat. I ordered the shrimp with garlic sauce and it was good, but a smaller portion that I had anticipated. It came with plantains which were very sweet and delicious. I wish there had been some kind of music as it was really quiet there and pretty empty for a week night. The service was also a bit slower than I normally like and it took awhile for them to take our order and bring the check. Small parking lot in front, but plenty of street parking. Hi, It was my first time at this Versailles. I was kind of disappointed that there was NO MUSIC. NO COLOR. NO LIFE HERE. By the way,this place was smaller than the other. The food was a bit different from the one on Venice. Usually they give you the plantains on the side,to give you that option whether you want to mix it or not. This time around they were underneath the chicken,which I would have to say that it was good either way. The chicken was Orgasmic and very juicy with slices of onions on the top, which made my mouth water. The waiters were friendly and met my needs. The garlic bread was ok but was a bonus to all. Versailles never disappoints. They have the best Cuban cuisine and my all time favorite, sautéed oxtail, is served up by Versailles and is still the best. The service is very attentive and they refilled my beverage without asking. The food was tasty, delicious and fresh. The black beans and fried plantains are out of this world. They forgot to give me the salad I ordered, but Raphael promised to refund the cost of the salad. I would definitely order again. It travels well. Then one day I decided to try their Arroz Con Pollo and was equally blown away. Today I tried their Oxtail Stew (Rabo Encendido) and had no idea wtf that even is, but took a chance and WOW! All that to say, every single thing I've tried has been amazing and blew me away, that I keep coming back for more. It's amazing comfort food in my opinion and I love that they give you very good portions. The empanadas are great to get on the side as well! Whenever my palate feels homesick, Versailles is the solution. Although I am not Cuban, I'm Puerto Rican, the food is similar and this rest is really good. The last time I went there I ordered "Combinacion de Pollo y Puerco." I got the rice with black beans, and maduros (fried plantains). Super tasty, reminded me my home. The only thing that I didn't like is the raw onions on top. I do recognize that it is part of the recipe, but I didn't eat them. If you are a fan of onions: this is the place for you! As for my drink I ordered the "Iron Beer" and it was delicious. Reminded me to Kola Champagne from Puerto Rico. Lastly the "Tres Leches" cake that I had it was not the best.
