Visited Sattdown Jamaican Grill while in Studio City, CA. The atmosphere was casual and laid-back, and the service was friendly. We stopped in craving some Caribbean food and tried the roti -- it was okay, but coming from a Trinidad roti perspective, it didn't quite hit the mark for me. That said, it was still a satisfying meal overall. Overall, a decent spot if you're in the area and craving Caribbean flavors. Saluti

I had the jerk shrimp.. it was so good, and the cabbage was seasoned so well. The oxtail was nice and spicy, also very tender. My favorite drink when I come to is the fruit punch drink. Everyone is always so nice and friendly; the service is always the best . It's a very cute small restaurant, and they have all of the Caribbean spices and pepper sauce. I will come back again for sure.

First meal today: Oxtail w/rice /sweet plantains/veggies. A generous amount of oxtail will leave you wanting more. Then you find yourself sucking the bone . I usually have leftovers but I ate everything. You cannot put the fork down at Sattdown. I'm in a food coma now, yet I have never been happier. Introduce Sattdown Jamaican Food to your taste buds.

It's been a while since I came so I was surprised when I entered it looked like a convenience store! You order at the counter, and there are a few tables inside and outside. There were quite a bit of food delivery/take out orders. We wanted some oxtail, so we came here and also got the jerk chicken. You can select the heat level but the lowest for the non-vegan and non-seafood is medium. The combo plates come with rice and beans, veggies and plantains. The jerk oxtail was in its own sauce while the jerk chicken was blackened. Consequently while both were "medium" the oxtail had noticeably more heat. Oxtail was quite juicy! Chicken perhaps was too grilled though with some extra burned ends. There is a parking lot but you can also park on the street: metered on Ventura and free (read the signs) on the residential side streets.

Amazingly flavorful, fall-off-the-bone oxtail plate, which paired deliciously with the plantain, rice, and pickled veggies.

Ayooo!!! Back at it again! Stumbled upon this cute Jamaican restaurant/market. Food is togo. I only got a Meat Patty, def will return for some oxtails. Patty was one of the best i've had. It was perfectly flaky with just the right amount of spice in the meat filling. Staff was so nice explaining the menu. There is a parking lot and cards are accepted. Come check this place out

Excellent fire Jamaican joint! Discovered this little restaurant when I was living in studio city and I have to admit it was definitely hit home. Being from Miami florida Caribbean restaurants are very typical and finding a Jamaican spot in studio city was phenomenal. The jerk chicken is beyond fire, the oxtail is point. They have natural juices as well. I highly recommend this spot to anyone wondering if this place is worth it and let me reassure you that it definitely is . The service is amazing, the ambiance felt like being back home in Miami. Will be coming back soon when I get back to California. Thank you !

Chef Tony's personal story is one of perseverance and his love for food is apparent in every dish he serves. Great vibe here, felt like I was eating at home. Oxtails goin crazy and jerk chicken is a mandatory dish too cause it's like that! Epic seasonings nudge their way into every bite of flavor. Pull and Stay Eatin' if you want the real deal!

I always appreciate Sattdown. The food is ALWAYS super good and VERY plentiful for the price. I am sad I forgot to order my chicken soup but I ordered online and it did not have the option. Nonetheless, I ordered the oxtail and goat combo. I was sad that the food did not come with a festival bread. I thought that was standard but I thought wrong. The oxtail and goat was soooooo good. It was tender and just perfect. The beef patty was good. The cabbage and rice was superb and well seasoned. At first, there was NO spice in the food but then I remembered the sauce they gave me, on the side, and I am so happy it was on the side. Mannnnnnn, that was spicy but sooo good and just perfect. I haven't been inside Sattdown in a Long while because I order to go. But I was happy to see that it now also serves as a grocery store so you can pick up your local Jamaican seasoning that you will not find in the store and that was GREAT. They also still have seats, in the cut, to enjoy your meal. It is very bright and just like home. Clean inside and the staff were super kind. The parking lot still is NOT parking friendly. It is still a hit or miss because it is a plaza of many stores and it's literally get in where you fit in

10/10. I'm Dominican and I know Caribbean food. This is authentic Jamaican cuisine--no question. I'm also from NY, so I know what I'm talking about when it comes to good food. The seasoning? Perfect. Just the right amount of spice to wake up your taste buds without overpowering the dish. I got the oxtail and they were generous with the portion. Fall-off-the-bone tender, full of flavor--absolutely worth it. And the banana cream bread pudding? WOW. If you love bananas, do yourself a favor and get that. So. Freaking. Delicious.

Hello Yelp , This place has got the freshest wild red snapper in Los Angeles. I'm not too certain on the recipe but I looked at a pic of it caught fresh and placed an order. The prepping and hands on cooking style is out of this world. You have to go try it at Sattdown Jamaican Grill ! It's really good

Do they carry Jamaican Style Sugar Buns?

Good morning Sarah I’m sorry it’s a product that we carry only from time to time it’s never always in the restaurant because it’s not very good selling a product

Is it closed for the whole month of July?

    Reopening July 26th Tue with normal hours 12 pm - 4pm, 5pm - 8pm

Are they still open? The past few times we've tried to call, it goes straight to voicemail?

I havent been there in 2 months, but the website allows you to order online.

    Is the restaurant Black-owned?

Yes. Sattdown is black owned. Tony the owner is a talented chef, polite, genuine native of the Caribbean. Him and his wife are wonderful people.

    Is this restaurant BYOB?

Yes. They sell no beer but there is a liquor store in the same mini-mall, so you can can just run over there and bring it back to the restaurant.

    How's the oxtails here?

Eh. Typical. Small portions. Same season as other spots. Not bad. Just not smack your mother good either.

Service was satisfactory. Fish was very fresh and tasty. I would come again to try the restaurant and their other fish products I missed. So this place is a choose your own adventure (handrolls, fish shop, cafe), built out in this tetris sort of layout. Upon entry you have some high chair seating and the cafe straight to the back. Along the other side is some window seating followed with the fish shop on against the last wall. Overall its pretty small so seating is limited. So much so I was indirectly informed to move from the window seating after sitting there with my bev and bread because that was for the handroll section. So I promptly went outside. Ordered: Iced Chai Latte: 5/5 - Excellent Chai. Best I've had in a minute Banana Bread: 5/5 - Recommended to me by the server. Sigh, reminded me of those good ol covid days. Very good banana bread. BBQ Fish: 4/5 So fun fact - on sundays whatever you buy from the fish shop they'll bbq it for you, pretty cool right? While the prices are a little steep, most of it is by weight so my selected fish actually was only $6. When we do the bbq option you get a little slaw to go with it. I asked the guy to give me a relatively affordable but good option and now I don't remember what it was I know. But it WAS good. It was light, a little citrusy, and surprisingly meaty? If I closed my eyes and did a blind test you could've had me fooled for red meat. If you don't like bones and all I would suggest something else. Now I have to say as soon as I ordered that one of the girls who worked there was on her off day and ordered a salmon burger, and apparently that's off the menu and isn't every week! I felt bamboozled, the fish guy did me wrong haha. With that said, if you can be here for that it seems well worth it, the grill man was mostly cooking patties and I asked one party how was it and they said it was delicious, really packed too, that burger was thick! Now there is some outdoor seating (3) but between the handrolls in the back and the bbq in the front it could be hard to find a place to sit. I got there around 12 Sunday and a few things I wanted were already sold out so I'd say make it earlier or order ahead if you can. All in all this place has been on my list for a few years now and I'm glad I finally went. I enjoyed what I experienced so far but I'm willing to go back to get the full nine yards.

Appetizers we started with the baked scallop special with chorizo, the caviar fries and the caviar dip. The baked scallop was delicious and the cause dip with the salt vinegar chips was fantastic. I could still dip more chips in that dish. I chose between the mussels and the fried fish sandwich. Alex recommended the fish not because it was better than the mussels. But because you just can't get a fried fish sandwich like theirs. I agree. The fry breading they have is top notch and the size of the sandwich literally has me full still 7 hours later. I substituted the fries for a lightly dressed side salad and loved it all. Besides, other folks had chips and fries to share. Other dishes were the fried and cold lobster rolls. Found Oyster is located in East Hollywood, on the same street where Saffy's is. It can be a bit hard to find street parking nearby because of neighborhood rules, but we managed to find a spot after circling a bit. The restaurant is very small, but it has both indoor and outdoor seating. I think the size of it adds to the charm. It also has a nautical theme inside and a New England feel about the place. The seating options inside are either at the bar, or tiny high-top tables. For appetizers, we shared the peel and eat prawns, half a dozen oysters and the sicilian crudo. Everything was good, but the servings were smaller than I expected. I also think that the peel and eat prawns would have been pretty mediocre without the special sauce. For mains, my husband got the lobster roll, while I had the mussels. His lobster roll was good, but in my experience it's hard to go wrong with buttered lobster on bread served with fries. My mussels were fresh and tasty. They were good, but nothing to write home about. Service was friendly and efficient.

The air ventilator is pretty good but I probably won't wear my must dry-clean clothes to dine here. Overall, Burnin' Shell did live up to its hype!

From the host/hostess stand to the servers to the runners, everyone is so welcoming and friendly. Valet and tons of street parking adjacent if you're not in heels. It's a steak house at its core, but do not sleep on the salmon -- super delicious and you're getting the omega-3 fatty acids for healthmaxxing. Robbie B tip: the happy hour. Reduced price wine glasses and small bites (but actually pretty big portions) of fancy bar food. Sliders, fries, mini lamb chops; it's a whole meal in there. Perfect place to quit your job and celebrate.
