I ate at this place about 5yrs ago and the food was amazing, not sure what happened in the interval, but something needs to change! This whole restaurant needs a renovation just like the rest of the place is undergoing. Drinks and food were barely edible. I rarely send things back, but this was by far the worst Manhattan I have ever had. The fried chicken was tasteless and ridiculous greasy. The only saving grace of this evening was our waitress was very nice and sweet, but I will probably not return to this establishment to eat unless major changes are made. Also had to battle the flies that are everywhere in this restaurant! Cannot even eat in peace with swatting those things away! We purchased the dinner buffet while staying on the property for a wedding. It was pretty pricey and I never eat the amount of food to justify paying for a buffet, but I did it anyway. After reviewing the a la carte menu, the buffet was the best deal. Service was pretty good, but I wouldn't expect much less since we were only one of a few tables that were taken. They had a decent variety of options from salads to soup, entrees to desserts. I really wanted seafood, but the options didn't look too appetizing so I tried some chicken and a beef option. Everything I tried was okay, but not something I'd have again. If staying here in the future, I'd probably go out and find a restaurant in town. I would eat here again if I were staying at the Chateau Elan due to convenience, but don't see why people would come here otherwise. My boyfriend and I really liked our food (soup and salad for me and steak for my boyfriend). Everything had good flavor. The service was lacking and thus prices don't quite line-up. To me it did not seem too crowded, or more crowded than the hotel should have expected seeing as a large conference was beginning the next morning (the restaurant was MAYBE half full). The service was slow and they got orders mixed up between tables and within our 2 person table. The table next to me waited 15 minutes before anyone came by to give them water, much less take their actual drink or food order. We waited about 10 minutes. read more

The food is just meh and the service lacking. If this were a mid priced restaurant, I'd probably give it 3 stars but for the price, it's very lackluster. My wife and son got the buffet, which they enjoyed and my daughter got a pretty good New York Strip. However, my shrimp and grits were disappointing. The shrimp were odd in that there were 4-5 proper sized jumbo shrimp but then the chef felt the need to throw in a few smaller ones. And for a high dollar place in the heart of the south, I'm not sure how they could screw up the grits. They were very uneven and lumpy, with pockets of runny pools in some places. One server took our drink order, and 2 minutes later, another came by to ask what we wanted to drink. C'mon now ... there weren't that many people there that you guys couldn't talk to one another to sort it out. And when my glass with club soda was empty, the server was going to fill it with water. When I told her it was club soda, she walked away ... ummmm, I could still use a refill, please. The host came by, and I told him I wasn't thrilled, but I should not have had to. The highlight was watching him drop the centerpiece whilst moving another table, though. Which is pretty sad that that's the most memorable thing from the dinner. And to finish off, they didn't have any other whiskeys (or bourbons or ryes) other than makers mark and johnny walker. No Bookers, no Knob Creek, no Buffalo Trace, or anything else you can find up the road at the nearest liquor store. Thankfully, we wound up taking a detour to the Irish Pub next door, and I had the bread pudding there, along with some drinks. The drinks included Jameson, which I guess this place couldn't get. We are so disappointed with our dinner tonight at Versailles. We have been there many times before and liked it so much with the seafood selections and impressed with their professional service. So, when our friends from California came to visit, we decided to take them to Chateau Elan for wine tasting and great food at Versailles. We bragged about the fresh king crabs, shrimp cocktails, breads and cheese display, great selection of desserts etc.. Tonight we realized they changed their whole menu and not for the better but for the worse. The first section of their dinner buffet menu was completely nowhere to be found. No Seafood at all, not even 1 shrimp. Chicken was dry, beef was chewy. Terrible, terrible, terrible. We paid almost $900.00 for 14 people and we left there hungry. I Would recommend this place for a good date night. My girlfriend and I came to the resort for Valentine's Day. The food was great. I had the beef shank and my girlfriend had the grilled chicken. The beef was tender and had great sauce/flavor. The chicken was well seasoned and not over cooked. My favorite dish was the Au Gratin Potatoes. It was delicious! We do not usually care for buffets at dinner, but we thought we would give it a try since the ala carte menu was not what we wanted. The carving station was very good, the vegetables were just okay, the soup and salad were good. There was boiled shrimp that were very good. The dessert table was too good. Service was attentive. They offer a breakfast buffet which was decent for the price. A variety of items to choose from. Possibly every breakfast item you could imagine. Lots of fresh fruits that were excellent quality. Pastries, breads, bagels. Scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy, grits and so much more. read more

My friend and I ate lunch there yesterday. It was absolutely amazing. We had fantastic service. We ate tomato soup and salad but the soup was definitely the best tomato soup I've had anywhere. We tried Chateau Elan Wine and really weren't expecting much but we had the Scarlet and it was excellent. Our salad was a spring salad and we added grilled shrimp and decided to split it. It was a lot of food. I really like how they have renovated the space. It's very bright and pretty. I want to go back and sit in front of a fire with a drink and relax. We had to wait about 15 minutes to get waited on, they didn't provide bread plates, my husband was done with his salad before they brought mine to the table, and the waitress insisted my husband keep his dirty silverware rather than bringing fresh for the entree. The first time I went to Versailles, it was great. We had great service and delicious food. We felt safe and social distant with COVID. Because of this great experience, we had no problem going there another night. This next time, we had a different server, who was awful. I can't remember his name, but he was incredibly rude. He CONSTANTLY came over with his mask off of his face, or underneath his nose. He got super close up to us as we were eating without our masks on, which made us very nervous. Anyway, I ordered an entree because I liked it the last time I went. There's two different chicken entrees, and I specifically said the one I wanted. He brought out the wrong one, which was fine, if he dealt with it well. I politely told him it was the wrong one, and explained to him the one I wanted. He said he would bring me a different side instead, even though I explained that I wanted the specific dish I ordered because I didn't like the way the one he brought out was cooked/sauce/etc. He basically rolled his eyes at me, and it felt like he was waiting for me to say I would just eat it. He rudely snatched the plate away from me and said it would be 15 minutes for the new one to come out. Fast forward FIFTY FIVE MINUTES later, and still no food. I asked him a few times where it was because I was in a hurry at this point. The person I was eating with was already done. The waiter kept saying it was coming, and never one time apologized. The person I was with asked for a tea as I was waiting for my food, and the waiter of course forgot about. About 20 mins after she ordered, he realized he forgot and came back with it. He profusely apologized about the tea, but really? You're concerned about the tea but not the entire entree you messed up? At the end, he never apologized once about bringing the wrong entree out. He took off the tea on the receipt, and acted like the entree thing never happened. I was very disappointed in this experience, and I felt incredibly unsafe as well. I would not recommend anyone eat here, especially during the pandemic. It also makes me question how seriously the salon/ winery/ etc is even taking COVID. read more

The brunch is marginally better than McDonalds and worse compared to Waffle House. Biscuits were hard as bricks. Several cold items. The sausage gravy was crusted over on top etc. Truly disgusting. This was the buffet of my worst nightmare. We ordered a la carte and also decided to try the buffet. Everything was petty bland. The menu is pretty basic so I don't really know how it's possible to mess anything up. $50 is a good price for a buffet but the food is awful. The only upside is the raw bar with king crab legs (that they will steam for you) and the chili. I'm kind of disappointed, we ended up ordering pizza when we got back to our room. read more

All hype and no substance. I spent two days at the Chateau Elan at a conference. I ate at the Versailles for breakfast twice, lunch twice, and dinner once. The first impression is that this just has to be an excellent restaurant. Breakfast is almost $20 for eggs, sausages, bacon, fruit, cereals, waffles, coffee, etc. You can order an omelet. No Eggs Benedict, or any other kind of specialty items. Truly worth $10, but not $20. Lunch offers 3 types of meat--beef or pork, chicken, and fish. Nothing spectacular about any of it. Bland mixed veggies and a starch. Deserts are obviously previously frozen and not made on site. Disappointing. Dinner is slightly better, but for the prices you deserve better food. You can have a much better meal elsewhere (and not at Cafe Elan either). read more

We are currently guests at the Inn and the food at the Versailles has been incredible especially considering most conference/hotel dishes are usually flavorless. Staff has been attentive and polite and the food is perfectly seasoned. Menu is a little pricey but between the quality of the dishes and the convenience of walking from your room to the elevator, I guess you get what you pay for. Wish they had drink specials/happy hour but...oh well. I'd definitely host an event here if that menu is anything like the meals we've had this far. read more

I attended this restaurant for a Christmas Day buffet with family after driving about an hour from Atlanta to Braselton. It is an understatement to say I was disappointed. Rather, I was truly embarrassed as I recommended this option to everyone based upon Chateau Elan's general reputation in the area. The venue charged approximately $100 per person for a buffet that would have more appropriately been priced at around $35 per person. The variety of food selections was limited, and what was available was poorly prepared and served by staff who were not properly trained. When we raised concerns, the manager on duty was unfazed and more concerned with filling tables than addressing guest feedback. I guess she considered us a "captive audience" at this point. Snow crab legs were available (a nice touch) but were overcooked and split lengthwise for convenience leading to a dry, stringy interior that was unappetizing to say the least. Rather than offering each person at the table a personal ramekin of butter, the server plopped a greasy bowl down in the center of the table for all to use. The prime rib was grossly overcooked, riddled with fat, and the server was clueless as to what "medium rare" constitutes; a moot point since there was only well done available. There was also a broccoli, pearl onion, and campaign cream dish that, while sounding rather elevated, was poorly executed. The sauce had broken and the campaign was overpowering making it bitter and unappetizing. The pasta and cheese tasted as if it came out of a box, and the other sides were very limited and tasteless. The atmosphere was wonderful with a talented pianist playing seasonal tunes. Perhaps Chateau Elan knew it had a "captive audience" on this Christmas Day when most restaurants are closed. However, given the poor quality and limited offerings, I will not attend this venue for dining again. read more
